@woodchuck 93 Marino never threw for 70k. He only has 61k. Brees is still fastest in history to 50k, 60k, and 70k. Faster than Manning, Favre and Brady (Brady has been in the league longer but Drew beat him to it by 2 years). Even adjusted for the rules and judging by what all the other QB's are doing currently, 80k (what Brees will end with) still has to be considered more than what Marino would have thrown for. Just because the rules changed doesn't mean you get to throw for INFINITY yards. There has to be some adjustment rate, and if Drew throws for 80k then he would've at least thrown for 65k under past rules
As a Brady fan the disrespect Drew Brees gets by the media and the league disgusts me.
I think they have been pretty fair for the most part. I was shocked because since this is the social media age where hot takes are taken for common sense like this naïve fanboy above me. Brees is great and in the top 10 all time. That's what people have said and they are right. He isn't better than Brady, Montana, Manning, Unitas, Marino, Elway, etc. He broke a big record, but really isn't the all time leader because it doesn't include playoffs. These records are going to be broken all the time with the league continuing to lean toward offense. He has never won an MVP, which will always hurt him. Plus, he hasn't had a defense because he got a little greedy with his contract. If he could win one more ring, he could really cement his legacy and he has a great shot this year of doing it. I hope he does it, too.
@@thefilmeffect6089 MVP is a media voted award. It's irrelevant. Case in point, Brees has 11 TD (plus 2 rushing) to 0 INT this year and still isn't mentioned in the MVP race.
We only five weeks into the season, so no one is really talking about the MVP except when it comes to Pat Mahomes. Brees' completion percentage will give a great shot, along with him breaking records. We will just have to wait and see.

This is literally the most disrespectful thing I've ever seen done to an athlete. This is borderline slander.
So the Saints are perennially top 5 offense, for 13 years, often #1... But it's drew's fault that they are losing. They bring up the records of the losing seasons, but never show the defense rankings of those years, but 4 of them are 31 or 32, some are 30, but none of the losing seasons are above 28.... Yet that's Drew's fault. Skip LIED and said the Saints' best season was 09 and 17 when they ran more, but that's blatanly false. They Saints did best in 09, but they also went 13-3 in 2011... the year Drew broke Dan Marino's record single season yardage record and threw for 46 TD's... or 2013 when they went 12-4 (which is still better than '17s 11-5) and drew threw for 5200... Why are they lying on Drew Brees the day after his tremendous accomplishment just to make a point and belittle this man's career...??????????? This seems personal. Brady and Manning were the ones that got injured for a season, yet Drew is the one that couldn't do well in the past eras??? None of what they said was accurate or factual. It all came with purposely negative interpretation and cherry picked statistics... I'm hurt
Yeah, it's ridiculous. He also pointed out how Tom has been to the playoffs 15/16 years but Tom's arguably in the worst division in football while you could argue that the saints are in the toughest division in the league. No disrespect to Tom Brady because you still have to go out there and win but it's not really fair to say just look at their records when there's so much more to it.

What they mean is that Brees has an above AVERAGE arm yet has completed so many passes which makes him GREAT statistically but we all know his arm or feet is not better than Rogers. Rogers is an all time GOAT talent.

You're right, those that don't have any knowledge of how much consistency it actually takes to do the things that Drew Brees does will blame the NFL, but in reality, what he has done has been unreal... I've viewed Brees as a guy who should have won multiple superbowls, if they didn't have that defensive targeting penalties from Greg Williams. In my opinion that was weird in its own right. As if the Saints weren't in the plans for the NFL... conspiracy, not trying to put that out there, but tell me teams weren't trying to take out offensive players prior to suspensions after that championship year. Drew Brees will go down as an all time great, great than Manning, but on par with Brady to me.

Every single 7-9 Saints season was about 5 plays away from 9-7 or 10-6. I can't remember the last game the Saints lost bc Drew and the offense couldn't get it going.

It sucks that drew has had to deal with having some of the worst defenses in nfl history. If he had half decent defenses for the majority of his career, he’d have multiple Super Bowls by now. He literally has put up 40+ touchdowns in a season and 5000 yards but they still finish 7-9 because their defenses have been so historically bad. Truly one of the all time greats.

The Film Effect Quarterbacks get paid all the time. That doesn’t mean you can’t draft better as a team. He is not the reason why their defenses have been historically bad during his time there. All great quarterbacks get paid at some point and even some not so great ones get paid. That doesn’t mean your entire defense has to suck after you get paid. They sucked before he got paid. When they won the super bowl, they still weren’t that good, they were just able to force a lot of turnovers. Drew Brees can’t play defense. If he puts up 40 points and his defense gives up 45, there nothing he can do about that.

Comparing Brees to Eli should be a crime against humanity. Brees is the 2nd greatest QB in our era only behind Brady. The mans played for years without a defense. For most of his career Drew has had absolutely terrible defenses so he had to throw a lot to keep the team in the game. Shannon brought up an argument for Rodgers vs Brady and he said that only once has Brady had a defense that was lower than like 15th or 20th in the league, Rodgers has had like 7 such defenses. I would like to see where Brees lands in that category, maybe 10-12 times.....
Lets not forget that Rodgers hasn't played as long as both of them and started his career three years into being in the nfl. When rodgers is their age, how many times will his defense be ranked 25th or worse.

Disagree, Strong disagree. The era is everything. You literally can't compare stat for stat to an 70's 80's or even a 90's QB because the rules were so different. The way you could jam and get physical with wide outs and QB's (this plays into injuries) changes the way teams approached the game. In 2018 you can't touch anybody on offense except a running back lol. Last year in the NFL there were 8 Quarterbacks who threw for 4,000 yards or more... lol to put that into context, Johnny Unitas only threw for more than 3,000 yards TWICE in 18 Seasons (Top 10 QB all time) Joe Montana had 0! 4000 yard seasons (Top 2 QB all time arguably the best). Is Brees better than those guys? How do you determine that? if you going off just passing yards.. I don't think that will produce the most definitive answer

calmly ignoring that half the reason Brady (AFC) and Manning (AFC) get to the playoffs is cause they were/are in the weaker side of the draw. Think about the division Brees plays in. Either the Falcons, Panthers, or Saints are elite each year and their always beating each other up. What division does Brady play in again?
