Lets just ignore the fact that Karl had Stockton passing him the ball for like 18 straight years. Karl never had to initiate the offense/ lead the team in assists like how Lebron has had to, therefore Karl could focus on scoring. Every team lebron has been on hes been the scorer, passer/initiator of the offense. Imagine lebron having someone like kidd, nash, paul passing him the ball for 18 straight years. Lebrons journey to 2nd place all time is more impressive than karls.

the only asterisk to that is in tems of peak greatness, what duration is the criteria for a peak, is it one game, one season? a decade? the problem with that is that people resorts to a subjective criteria to match their biases.

The fact that he will do them by playing more seasons is just greatness in longevity. I love how analysts and fans act as if Jordan couldn't make threes. I know his career three point shooting mark is pretty bad, but he was actually close to 40 percent in one of his earlier years, and participated in the three point shooting challenge in the all-star game. He could make threes when he wanted to, like against the blazers in the finals, where he made 6 in a half I believe. The three just was nowhere near as big a part of the game then, and Jordan realized that no one could stop him going to the hole, or making mid range jump shots. With the likes of Lopez, Embid, Giannis, and many other big men being able to make threes, it is a joke to think that Jordan could not have been a 40 percent three point shooter if he had needed to be

I don’t get why there has to be a definitive GOAT, like as if there can only be one. I get that Greatest Of All Time would make more sense to a singular individual, but things change over the years. It would only be fair to refer to someone as the GOAT if we really think they’ll be the best no matter the era. Which lets be honest… It’s hard to say for any player. So in the end, it’s a matter of how good you are in your own era. If we follow that, then it would only be fair to allow multiple GOATs. Either one for every position or era. Nothing more, nothing less.

The league is far easier to score now. The NBA was much harder to score than now. Even Luka, Joker and Giannis said its easier to score in the NBA than EuroLeague. Those OG Euro players like Kukoc who came to NBA, never said that.
The NBA was harder to score during MJ’s Washington tenure based on average scores. Yet, the man averaged 22 at 40 yo, before the knee injury took him out. His scoring was ramping up. He averaged 28 ppg those last 10 games. MJ has a lifetime 30 ppg average with no 3s and those two 20/22 pt game seasons in Washington, in a lower scoring league. D. Rose averaged 24-25 ppg his MVP year. You may not even make All-NBA Third team with that average now.

Reggie Miller who currently holds the 4th all-time 3-point record played from 1991-2001. 1991, FYI, was the year MJ got his first Championship and retired in 2003.

Jason Kidd, Oscar Robertson, Gilbert Arenas, Spencer Haywood, Scottie Pippen, Jason Williams, Isiah Thomas, Cade Cunningham, Gary Payton, etc. All say Lebron is better than Jordan and they’re right. Lebron is the superior passer, better rebounder, can play all positions , can guard all positions, better three point shooter, higher percentage scorer, better defender, etc plus played way tougher competition overall in a more difficult era. And don’t bring up rings, John Havlicek is 8-0. Robert Horry is 7-0. Adam Morrison has 2, yet that doesn’t make him a better player than Tracy McGrady or Vince Carter. Lebron = GOAT!

No. Can he shoot? yes. Is he the best? No. He's probably the most well rounded player, he can do it all, but there are others more proficient at specific areas.

No where near the amount of individual accolades or team accomplishments. Accomplished more in less time. And overall meant more to the game.
In literally any other profession in the world if you have a business or a trade where you accomplish more in less time it makes you the more efficient and superior worker. I see what you're saying on that last part but for comparison with just great players, longevity can come into play. Malone and Kobe both have more points than MJ but neither are a better scorer. MJ has the highest scoring average so if every single player played the same amount of games, he would have the most points, of course. That's why people bring up longevity.

Look at how many more seasons LeBron has played than Jordan. Look at how many more 3 pointers are taken now, and throughout Lebum's career, than during Jordan's.
