Your top down approach to addressing health issues and imbalances is brilliant.. High energy / low entropy makes sense.....the key to troubleshooting any issue is a top down approach...thank you. I recommend folks watch this more than once and pause and rewind as necessary to let it all sink in....valuable insight here.

Awesome video Chris, really love your tie in with physics and talking about how remaining healthy is fighting against entropy. I can't help but think about Ray Peat during this discussion, did you draw inspiration from him? Energy production was always his primary solution to health problems, and his central thesis related to this, “The key idea was that energy and structure are interdependent, at every level.” I'm curious what you think about thyroid hormone supplementation in light of your new angle on focusing on energy production first? I've personally always thought Peat was a little obsessed with thyroid supplementation, when in most cases healthy lifestyle, diet, and appropriate supplementation where needed should allow the body to properly govern thyroid hormone production.

    • @chrismasterjohn
      @chrismasterjohn  ปีที่แล้ว +14

I have drawn inspiration from Peat on specific topics, but I do not think he was a major influence here, I think the first major influence was studying chemistry before I ever heard of Peat, and the second major influence has been studying inborn errors of metabolism over the last five years to help clients and now finally myself.
I do notice of course that Peat also emphasized this principle.
However, I completely disagree with his emphasis on manipulating hormones.
I am not saying this doesn’t get results. It does.
But hormones are not in control of anything. They are middle managers communicating needs and abilities between tissues.
The most actionable point on energy metabolism is biochemistry, not hormones.

Ok timing on this was interesting. I've always been an allergy sufferer but in my case it's more related to house dust and dust mites. Carpets, etc., are problem for me. For 7 years or so this morphed from the usual sneezing, runny nose symptoms into severe nasal drip. To the point of being nearly unable to swallow + a choking sensation. Antihistamines are largely ineffective. Did an immunotherapy course and the injections reduced symptoms by 60-90% depending on the day and season, but did not resolve. After listening to your discussions I upped my vitamin A via 1g-2g of Cod Liver oil daily. This helped but did not resolve. For the last 6 weeks I was experimenting with 250mg of B1 daily to see if it would lower my fasting glucose (will check a1C shortly) as this apparently was the result with one health practitioner I follow. I wondered if I might have a similar deficiency. B1 is apparently safe in higher doses, so I thought, why not run the test? Rather unexpectedly this resolved my allergies by 99% now.

I needed to take thyroid hormone to fix my riboflavin deficiency, as serum FAD was still low even with hundreds of mg per day. After thyroid, methylation cycle kicked in and B12/B9/riboflavin are very strong ever since.

I recently came to this same conclusion regarding acrodermatitis enteropathica. Zn deficiency leads to poor Fe3+ reduction to Fe2+ and this imbalance leads to poor oxygen delivery, hypoxia, and lactic acid production. This situation is rescued through zinc and methylene blue supplementation.

Hi Chris! This is by far one of my favorite lectures by you. I read the article when you first shared it and listened to some random parts of this video. I have a couple of questions about your thoughts/ opinion on optimal fasting glucose level and optimal thyroid level? There are a lot of conflicting school of thoughts out there and I am interested in your opinion. Second, Do we get discounted prices on these test if we become members? Thanks for sharing this invaluable info with us! I can’t wait to do a consultation with you

I haven’t worked discounted labs into program yet but I will try to do that in the next month or so.
I don’t have strong opinions on optimal glucose but you probably want waking fasting glucose ideally in the 80s and postprandial to stay under 140.
      Thyroid is complicated.

Restless legs? I suffer from restless legs and I’ve recently found real mushroom lions mane significantly mitigates the problem, much better than gabapentin imo.
I also got some homeopathic pillules from my Natropath that really help too, much better than gabapentin, I was super skeptical, I’m not really a big fan of Natropath’s and I was sure this wasn’t going to work, but it really does, I’m sleeping 8 hours again, I can’t believe it.
Although downside with the lions mane is it doesn’t put you to sleep straight away, it usually makes me drowsy after about 2 hours and lasts 4 hours, I’m gonna experiment with taking more tomorrow night, see if it lasts longer, cuz last night I woke up at 2:30 and had to get up for 2 hours before they made me drowsy again.
Hopefully it continues to work and isn’t just random.
Also you need real mushroom lions mane, all the other ones I’ve used don’t do shit.

Here where I live was not raining for like 14 days. Dust and pollen EVERYWHERE. I am dying. 🤧😷😢 and as I was reading "In this video I cover why riboflavin abolished my allergies" while eating breakfast here I immediately took one riboflavin pill haha. Will see if it will be little better in work today.. 😁 I also started taking acerola powder for whole food vit C for vit C and also bioavailable copper that should also help with DAO production.. Good energy production helps everything that's for sure, but if you have issues with the liver for some reason like mineral imbalance aka iron overload, copper toxicity or some other toxicity etc.. DAO production will be low and so all kinds of allergies, histamine issues...

Hi Chris, I'm a little confused here. I'm dying to know what the heck is going on in relation to your dextrose powder. "D-glucose and dextrose are interchangeable terms that refer to the same stereoisomer of glucose. Therefore, all glucose found in fruits (or any other natural food source) is considered D-glucose/dextrose." So what are you telling us? Chronic use of glucose lowered your blood glucose? Dextrose i.e. basically sucrose and fructose free sugar?

    • @chrismasterjohn

Yes, performing 25 glucose tolerance tests on myself with between 25 and 65 grams of glucose lowered my fasting glucose.
