Ive been suffering from deflection for a while and i couldnt find a proper video to show how to do side spin properly.... until i found this video! Now I understand!! FINALLY!! :) Thank you !
7 mins in, already my fav vid. The easy to understand explanations, the camera angles, the editing. Everything is just made to perfection! Thank you for this❤
You know what’s great about your lesson you get right to the point! I mean in 5 minutes of this video I learn more about what the cue ball and object ball are doing. Dr Dave is no teacher he milks everything but I guess that’s what you have to do when your selling videos, milk everything and say nothing. Hands down you are the very BEST!
sharivari u saved my billiards life, i didn't know u were so goated, i wish i had u in my pocket so everytime i played billiard i could pull you out for advice whenever i wanna hit spin shots cuz im so bad at pool.
You are such a wealth of knowledge Shari! Inside English I’ve always struggled with and I miss those shots 95% of the time, so I rarely use inside English, unless it’s a wide angle. This video explains it to me a lot clearer. The more I watch your videos, the better my game becomes.
As a beginner, Stay with center Ball, center High and center low until you can runout a game (8,9 or 10 ball) It will teach you to play the table using natural angles, to identify pocket lines and play position for the next ball. These are the most important parts of the game. It is not until you have reached a level where you have run out a game, that it might be time to include spin and safety play. 😊
This is a combination of very good old videos put together for a better understanding. I already saw them all many times and every time I scratch my head, I find this sport extremely difficult. This channel is one the best, thank again for everything!
I must say I've been watching this video for the past two weeks in a row and everytime i learn something new so i must say your a very good teacher even when im not physically with you and i have improved my game extremely so thank you for your time and content, and much love from S.A.
A little too long, but, excellent explanation and instruction of CIT, cue deflection and the dynamics of speed. One of the best videos about side spin. Thank you.
I’ve been playing pool on/off for nearly 20 years and never heard of fhe/bhe. I know a lot about this game so I’m baffled that I missed this. This very well May explain my struggles with cut shots when applying spin(specifically inside). Can’t wait to get on a table try this all out. Might be a breakthrough here.
Thanks man! I'm a complete amateur, last time I played was probably before covid. Today I am going to play a tournament with my group of friends and I am glad I found this video. It is actually really well explained and I'm shoked that people find it confusing. It is basic physics really basicly explained - which is good because it is easy to understand. Cheers!
Nice information about back hand English and bridge length based on the cue deflection. Dr. Dave has a really nice video showing a simple way to figure out the exact sweet spot for the BHE bridge on your own cue.
Really appreciate this video. I have been using side spin more and more and this video explains all the variables involved perfectly. Thank you too for the extra time to taken to include go-pro footage and ghost ball graphics - it makes a huge difference in simplifying a fairly complicated technique!
So much to remember 😂 I also follow Lil Chris and he discusses FHE vs. BHE, and he doesn't know why it works the way it works. This video complements his because i now understand why there is a difference between the two types of English. I think the key here is just practicing these individual shots over and over to get the feel and not focus so much on mathematics and physics. That's making my head spin more than any cue ball could.
QUE BUEN VIDEO!!! 👌👏👏 ERES UN GENIO SHARIVARI!! 👌👏 GRACIAS POR ENSEÑARNOS MAESTRO!! ME ENCANTA ESTE TIPO DE VIDEOS LARGOS Y BIEN EXPLICADO TODO!! ERES UN IDOLO!!! 😊😊👌❤️🎱🎱
As usual, a fantastic and very helpful video. You are the best in regards explaining, teaching and presenting. Keep it up. Sunny greetings from Greece 😎👍
I just started playing pool again after about 15 years. Had a table, then I didn't. This video made me understand why my feel felt the way it did back when I played every single day. I didn't know why, but it worked. I can't do it anymore lol.
I’m about 1/3 of the way through the video and enjoying it very much, but a couple of things. Not just this video but many intense ones I’ve seen now make me wonder how I ever managed to play decent pool (now I see I was not that good but I won a lot of games, playing bar patrons so it doesn’t really count) and make shots with all the variables. Also thinking that there are so many options, it’s mind boggling. For others like me, I see that after learning more about billiards, for a while my game has gone downhill, with he occasional great shot with cue ball position after, but the more one practices the new techniques, it gets better. Seems like my newfound knowledge makes me miss shots (just slightly) that I would have made not trying English, but then comes a feel and suddenly it works. In the meantime my control of the cue ball after shots also is going in the right direction, but most often too much and other times too little.
If you are playing shots you know you will make them but improve very slowly but if you are experimenting, misses happen frequently. In the end you will become a better player much faster. Learn from every shot you make OR miss.
To adjust for deflection just pivot the cue for the spin. Don't go down on a shot with the spin because you are lined up for the deflected angle. If you pivot you move off the angle like you showed. Much easier to adjust.
Great tutorial. So much information to digest. In a future video can you talk about cue tip types and maintenace. I am very interested in how different tips types may help with using spin in your game or whether it doesn't matter that much or is just a reflection of personal preference and how the hit feels. thanks again.
bruhhhh, your theory is really worked, I watched your video ytd, and today I followed only 1 theory shot in practical, I littery able to pot almost 6 balls in row 🔥
OMG, I’ve been playing well for over a year now and I’ve just realised that I misunderstood your explanation and I’ve been playing with my inside vs outside spin logic all backwards! No idea how I’ve managed to make extreme cut shots with the opposite spin that I needed.
This was some heavy knowledge that will take repeated watching and practice for me to understand. This is really good knowledge, and your presentation was flawless. Question: how many milligrams of my favorite pain killer do I need to take in order to compensate for the headache caused by trying to understand this? ;)
i didn't win any of my eight ball matches but i did nearly run the table in my first game of the second match. it was worth it making the opponent a little bit terrified. ;)
I wanna ask something and I hope you answer this one, sometimes I'm confused about which method I should pick, BHE & FHE, or just shoot it straight and adjust for deflection?
so, with the deflection increasing with more velocity...you make a really good argument for using table speed. Besides controlling the cue ball better. I have to constantly be on guard against over hitting my shots. Too many sports played where we murder the ball with the stick I guess...hehehe
Can you do a video on how to fix Eye and Head alignment. This has been a big problem for me and alot of other people I have talked to. Alot of times when I get down on a shot I feel like my eyes see the cue kinda like its bending or tilted. Maybe it has something to do with the dominant eye or that I cannot perfectly get my head to be straight on the cue as sometimes my head is slightly tilted and i dont know how to fix that. All of that makes my aim perception akward and I am uncertain if i am shooting straight. Thanku for hearing me out and keep the videos up🎉
It’s a lot easier for your students to have the camera behind you when saying right spin and left spin. Sometimes I have to stop and picture in my mind what your saying, because everything thing is backwards. Thanks
Novice advice: start with potting hangers with spin, add just a trace of spin, hit at a medium pace, add a trace of top for less deflection. Add distance, power, spin and bottom as it gets easier to pot. Enjoy, because spin makes this game so much more fun.
Great video! Can I ask when aiming with side spin, after we compensate for everything, where is the aiming line pointing to on the ghost ball? E.g., with right spin, does the tip point from the right side of the cue ball to the center of the ghost ball, or to the right side of the ghost ball? Thanks!
That's difficult to explain. I think I should cover this in a video. The short answer: I don't use a ghostball that I am aiming to, but a ghostball that tells where the cue ball should arrive at the object ball.

Which discovery was your biggest game changer when it comes to playing with side spin? ⬇
That sometimes you only need 1/2 to a whole tip of side to achieve what you need!
I call it gear effect.
This video tbh
realising that the table I play on plays way too slow to use spin 😭
The combination of speed, spin, aim is the magic . . . Which is what I don't have. 😢
Ive been suffering from deflection for a while and i couldnt find a proper video to show how to do side spin properly.... until i found this video! Now I understand!! FINALLY!! :) Thank you !

@@bjarkenielsen8515 this comment should be pinned. Master center ball first. Runout racks using the fundamentals.
Watched a lot of your videos. This is one of the best produced ones I have seen, well done! (Content is great too)

Being honest not even watching to play pool, watching just to learn the physics for yakuza 3, although this is still helpful
Maybe the best video on the subject of spin and deflection. really well explained! which cue with which shaft do you use?
Glad it was helpful! I am currently using the Mezz Ignite shaft.

I have a question? If the object ball is at left pocket so we have to right spin and vise versa right ?
In a high speed shot with a little right side spin, does the cue ball travel in a curve or is the deflection a straight line to the left?
No curve, just deflection.
