    The Legio Custodes Custodian Venetari show that even the Emperor's companions can take to the skies as fast moving assault infantry, mirroring the capabilities of the Astartes.
    Please join me in this video to unbox this squad of resin miniatures where I showcase the components and assess the quality of the kit.
    My thanks to long time subscriber Laurent Jallut for giving me the opportunity to unbox these fantastic miniatures.

    The only coughing i'll be getting is from the resin dust i'm inhaling!

      Haha! I wish coughing from resin dust was the only thing we had to worry about right now.

    Nice video as usual.
    The global quality seams manageable.
    I am not too concerned for the spear. Only the leg may be a bit hard to get right.
    For the flight stance pining is definitely necessary but I think I won't use them.
    I usually use custom base and use a piano wire of 1mm as a poste.
    But those dynamic stance I think a basing in the style of the eldar specter for a couple of them can make a very good scenic.
    Those model looks really great. Only downside is magnatise the weapon seams tricky due too shoulder poltron. Maybe I ll try to recast those to have an easy magnetisation.
    Thanks for the review

    Goes to show how random the quality is, pre-ordered mine and those were really crisp, no slips or damage at all really. Were these just ordered or have you had them laying around? Really like the models though.

      Johan Malmquist These were only purchased a few weeks ago.
      In the opinion of several professional resin casters I've spoken to FW's main issue is they use moulds beyond their optimal lifespan. As moulds age their flexibility degrades and as I understand it can lead to misalignments occurring.

    • @johanmalmquist6076

      @@leakycheese Makes a lot of sense seeing how they're usually quite crisp and nice when new.

    Their names always make me think of Lord Vetinari.
    They are very beautiful models. But why no helmet option?!

    • @leakycheese
      @leakycheese  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed on the Havelock similarities, I had to keep stopping myself from making Discworld references while narrating this.
      No helmet option is clearly and entirely attributable to the "rule of cool". Not sure the big banana hats would suit these guys anyway and those big plumes might get ingested in the engine intakes... that would be embarrassing and bad.

    not liking that first see through bit on the cowling of the backpack (~5:59) is it part of the model or some ... flash? bit hard to see sorry. But it brings up a question I've had with other models - how do you handle areas that resin is too thin? just fill it in? Thank God the filigree on those was all ok, I can't imagine trying to fix all of those! Those are gorgeous miniatures, I like the vent covers, you could stage them so they look also as tho they're in motion

    Are there many infantery models with so many parts?
    Or do you think the CAD files where maybe designed with plastic in mind?

    • @leakycheese
      @leakycheese  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good question. I'd say they these have been designed to be fully compatible and interchangeable with the plastic Custodian range.
      These miniatures couldn't be cast in plastic as they are in this kit. The detailing is too tight and sharp on the wings and legs to get out of a steel mould, they'd need to be redesigned for that.
      I guess what you are considering here is were these originally designed for plastic production and then adapted for resin manufacture? It's a possibility for sure.

    Hi so I have a question about some rogue trader stuff (sorry it’s not related to this video but you seem very knowledgeable about vintage 40k)
    While browsing classic models on eBay I came across a space marine captain with “death squad” on his slot thingy, what stuck out to me was his weird bone sword and looking into the model I found that he was from the emperors children and seemed to have a very early anathema blade!
    My question is that if slaves to chaos came out in 1988, does that mean that they were planning models for the Horus heresy as far back as 1985?

    • @leakycheese
      @leakycheese  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That model was from the original range of Space Marines that followed the first LE02 Imperial Space Marine model.
      Their weapons were weird indeed and somewhat Gigeresque in their design style, a look that wasn't taken any further forward as GW decided on a look that speaks more to present day technology such as seen in the RTB01 Imperial Space Marines plastic miniatures.
      Were these models supposed to be traitor marines? Personally, I don't believe this was the case and they represent a different artistic slant on Imperial technology. You can however see the Giger look in the first chaos marine models Citadel produced, the Chaos Renegades so perhaps they inspired some of that later look?
      If you ever meet Rick Priestley this would be a great question to ask him ;)

    why are forgeworld STILL allowed to churn out bad quality/defective models, we pay a premium price for shit quality. ok, clean up and fixing is possible but we shouldn't have to. QUALITY CONTROL FFS!!!
