- If something you grew up with still holds up, by all means, don’t abandon it. But I’m a firm believer in recognising and addressing kinks in such things and regarding things the way they are instead of how I remember them. Story structure means a lot to me, I strive to consider appeal from several angles, including but not limited to that of an average railfan, and I have been asked by viewers on many occasions what to my mind works and doesn’t work with various aspects of Seasons 1 to 5 of Thomas The Tank Engine & Friends.

He’s probably not gonna ever do this one, but I feel like it would be really interesting to see his take on Emily
Emily isn't really that much of a character IMO, I think his take on Emily would be like his take on Murdoch. Though I'm not sure there's room for a Stirling single in the cast.

One thing I really like is that Henry keeps the square firebox throughout his whole life, just getting a bigger one after his Kipper accident. I've been binging through your ideal series and I'm actually a fan of most of your takes. Your AU seems very interesting.

Honestly I like this take. Especially the cab windows on the top and whatnot. Personally, I made my Henry a Caledonian Railway 956 which were known for having significant steaming problems rebuilt into a engine that’s very akin to a black five but retains the frames of the 956. But honestly I vibe the shit out of the Fowler 4-6-0 design idea.

Yeah Henry really looks terrible with splashers, it makes him look too much like Gordon.
My way of making him different from Gordon (aside from no splashers) is to give him an eyepatch on his right eye
Even though he’s probably going to have little differences, I think Gordon is a great next choice. Maybe he could be more accurate to the A1/A3s.

I agree about the splashers, I don't know why he got them back and kept them. Also his tender in the show looks nothing like the tender of his basis. In general Henry's TVS model is great, but it's nowhere near one of the best.

In my au Henry was a GCR 8b who was built in 1906 but gained sentience in 1920 and was bought by the NWR in 1922 as the express engine and was given the #3 but after he stuck in the tunnel Gordon took over the express,in winter of 1934 he had the flying kipper crash and was sent to Darlington and was rebuilt into a GCR 8c
So it can kinda work both

lots of caledonian pacifics had steaming trouble and got replaced by more modern stanier or even fowler 4-6-0s

I think it'd be funny to have a have a take on arthur or bill and ben. Arthur because he looks like a 2mt but does have some differences, and bill and ben's real life basis' were green.
