fr tho I really like your interpretation of Henry and him being named after Henry Fowler is the icing on the cake
Yoooo thank you, a very big fan of your work
"I wanted 203 rebuilt, and that _____ _____ _____ gave it a face!"
Lmao
I’m confused as to why the IOS book says that “since 1922, there have been two Henry’s”. Wouldn’t it make more sense to say since 1935 or something?
Ikr
It could be referring to 1922 as the beginning of the Henry situation and then it was solved after the rebuild, but it is strange
Well 1922 was (probably) the year Henry was sent to Crewe or when Henry MK 2 was created, if it were to say “since 1935” then that would mean Henry MK 2 was built in the same year Henry MK 1 was built
Perhaps they’re saying that two engines just have the same name, nothing unusual.
@@FictionalADDON lots of people have the same name. It’s usual, even in Thomas, but it’s not the implication I got from the book regarding Henry.
In my opinion, Henry looks good as a Black 5
fair enough
In my AU, Henry is an experimental engine built in 1918 built, made from stolen Plans from sir Nigel Gresly he was a poor steamer in 1920 he was sold to the NWR the same year the thieves were caught. In 1927 His steaming problems were figured out and he was given Welsh Coal and in 1930 he had the flying Kipper Crash and got rebuilt into a black five.
Weren’t the Black 5s built until like 1934
@@ScorchZane I changed it back to canon 1934.

Thank you I’ll be doing a double premier of both my Ideal Gordon and Thomas
I don't like this. It makes absolutely no sense. Yet you're trying to fix something that in your mind makes no sense.
Making sense with something that doesn't make sense to others.
These types of videos have always been weird, not blaming you or anything, just saying.
with all due respect, I don’t see how the NWR would’ve tolerate Henry’s steaming problems for 14 or 15 years when he was in old shape (whether he’s a mixed hybrid or not).
To me it makes more sense they get rebuilt some time after like a few years rather than a decade or two, since I really dislike the idea of Henry having his steaming issues for 1 decade, like goodness me poor Henry.
So, Your Ideal Henry Became Sentient After His Rebuilt.
Yup
@@ScorchZane, Incredible.
So… The sad story of Henry never happened?

He was built by the NWR in 1920, he was Simply Named 'Henry', he was Meant to be a NWR B1 Atlantic, but They decided to Change it, he was numbered 373, After he Failed on the NWR's Main Express Service 'wild'nor'wester', Witch ended up in the NWR Needing to perchase GNR No. 1470 Great Northern, Later NWR No. 374 Gordon topham hatt, in 1927, Sir Albert Regaby made a deal with Henry's Crew to Go in Henry's Cabe, in a Later Meeting eld for the Future of Henry, the selution was Smaller kinds of Coal ordered by The Crovan's gate Minning co. But in 1928 Henry was asigned to pull the 'flying kipper', at Victorstown henry derailed and Crashed into the back of a Goods trains, he was Sent to Crew Works were he was Rebuild into a Royal Scott, he was Rebuild to the Stanier version of the Royal Scotts, hes still on Sodor today

oh simple add two splashers and paint the cab into a single with a bar on it
So if Henry was rebuilt into a 6P wouldn’t he be rebuilt again in 1943, or did he kept his Fowler design?
He was rebuilt somewhere during WW2 to be more standardised into Stanier’s design
Ok
Can't wait to see this
Well best be prepared :)
Perhaps henry was a experiment built both by gresley and sir henry flower
well 203 (later Sir Henry Fowler, who is Henry in my universe) was built in Crovan’s Gates Work, so Gresley and Sir Henry Fowler never had any involvement. Sir Henry Fowler was only involved in his rebuild
in my AU he was built by the engineers in Crovan’s gate works

In my hc, Henry was built as an lner atlantic-pacific mix as an a1 prototype, but unlike the real lore, his designs weren't stolen, he was actually built by Sir Nigel Gresley, and named Henry cuz of Sir Henry Ivatt, and 1935 he was rebuilt into a black 5, so he didn't have splashers, and he also didn't have a dome cuz black 5's in 1935 didn't have domes, only topfeeds.

My ideal Henry is an LBSC H2 Later Rebuilt into a Black 5
Mine: Henry was bulit from stolen blueprints of Nigel Gresley, and was always non faceless. He looked like a LNER Class D49 but with a smaller firebox. He had trouble moving, so they took him to be Scrapped. But he was sent to Sodor instead. He pulled the Flying Kipper in 1930, and has his famous crash, then was rebuilt into a Great Western Railway 2900 Saint class.
that’s some interesting AU/HC explanation, I don’t know how to feel about a LNER a being rebuilt in a GWR, tho then again in canon he went from a GNR to an LMS so I guess that’s not an issue.
interesting take.
In mind, your Henry (The MK1) would look a little like the GCR Class 8F, but with the same characteristics as the A1 1915 draft.
I mean I guess, even tho his class built by the NWR would be classified as a T2 class since the T Classification would stand for Ten-Wheeler. I can say however his old shape design is somewhat inspired by the 1915 A1 Draft, and the GCR 8F. So I guess yes.
Do i felt that awdry's golden rule was pointless

Henry the blue engine
My ideal Henry goes like this:
He is that he is one of a class of engines built by the NWR called the North Western Railway Experiment Class. There were 53 engines of this class built between 1919 and 1925.
Henry was the second engine built, rolling out of Crovan's Gate in October 1919 and (like in your universe) was named Henry Fowler, a tribute Sodor gave to the neighboring Midland Railway and their current CME, Henry Fowler.
Henry (along with 19 other engines) were built with a 4-4-2 "Atlantic" wheel arrangement, but due to stability issues, they were later rebuilt with a 4-6-0 "Ten-Wheeler" configuration beginning in 1924. He and the first of the class, Experiment, were rebuilt into 4-6-2 "Pacific" locomotives, but these mods showed no noticeable improvement in their performance, and both engines would return to being 4-6-0's shortly after.
The Experiment Class was obviously a failure until the Welsh coal came. Apparently the NWR couldn't find out why the Experiment's were utter crap for that long until Topham rode on Henry to find out what the matter was.
In December 1934, the Flying Kipper is introduced and the NWR Experiment Class would be placed on this work, and we all know what happened next.
On the morning of January 5, 1935, it was Henry Fowler's turn to pull "The Flying Kipper." As he raced along the line, the run itself was going well. That is, until they reached Killdane, where ice and snow forced the home signal down and frozen balast was wedged in the points mechanism. Despite his best efforts, Henry was unable to stop in time and crashed into a stationary goods train on the line ahead, causing the deaths of the three men inside the breakvan and his crew (while surviving) to be badly injured, with the driver suffering a cut on his head and torn ligaments in his ankle, while the fireman suffered severe injuries on his right foot and hand (later amputated at the hospital), as well as being treated for a possible skull fracture.
He would be rebuilt by Sir William Stanier shortly afterwards and be rebuilt into a Black 5. The rebuilds were successful and resulted into 26 of the other 52 engines received these Black 5 rebuild treatments, but some remained unmodified.
Withdrawals started in 1945 (just after the end of World War II), due to the fact that the unmodified engines were almost obsolete compared to the updated ones. The last of the unmodified versions of the class was retired in 1951, marking the end of an era for these engines. The rebuilt engines would begin their withdrawals in 1959, and the last to be withdrawn was in 1967.
Henry was actually saved due to the popularity of the Railway Series in 1963, and as such remains the only North Western Railway Experiment Class today.
