    What is the single most loved and least loved figures in YOUR collection?!?

      My most loved is Super7 Slash, an awesome chunk of plastic. Least favorite is NECA cartoon Slash only because the left forearm has come off. It can attach, but can't really bend and pose.

      Matt, this is Dre , the 2030 collector.
      Well to answer the question, "what is the single most loved and least loved figure in my collection", I would have to say for the least loved would be the DC Direct Wonder Woman Series 1 Circe. I bought it to do a Wonder Woman rogues gallery toy photo shoot. This thing would not stand up to save my life. The articulation is limited and weird. i am just glad I only paid $13.00 for it. Now as for my most appreciated figure in my collection, like you it depends on the day, but if I had to choose one It would be my DC Direct Giganta BAF. It hits me in my childhood Saturday morning feels. I remember watching the opening scene of The Super Friends and seeing Giganta, with the LOD running towards the Super Friends. Still brings a smile to my face, and yes I have a type...😁 I have the Justice League Unlimited version too, but it can't stand up to the classic costume. i am hoping that maybe we'll get an update from McFarlane with better articulation, but in the classic look. The runner up to the Giganta BAF is my Marvel Legends Savage She- Hulk from 2021. However, I am hoping for a more Hulker version of this figure, something that resembles her from the recent Avengers comic. I am hoping also, that MaFax, SH Figarts. or Mezco give us a better MCU She-Hulk. As you know the Legends version has some issues.

      Most loved is definitely the toybiz sentinel BAF. It was my fav toy growing up while my least loved fig is the katy mcu marvel legend. I loved the movie so I bought the wave but katy's figure had abysmal articulation and I couldn't get her to stand up.

      My collection. My most loved figure was the Tobey maguire 6 inch Spider-Man 2 movie figure. I got it around 11 years old off eBay for around 25 dollars, (10-12 years of age) and it was the my favorite figure in my collection. I displayed him, played with him, carried him around, etc. Sadly I lost him years ago, and no idea where he went.

      My most loved figure in my display is the Mezco iron fist. My least favorite figure is going to have to be the Thor figure from the Thor and sif 2 pack just because I don't really like the MCU and I try to do my research before buying figures nowadays but in the past I was a bit reckless

    For the ziploc bag thing - get acid free (polypropylene) bags. They wont have acid in them that ziploc bags do which can damage/discolor the plastic in the figure.

    • @WiGgYof09

      Plus you can get them in a variety of sizes from really small (for keeping hands together) to huge for BaFs a deluxe figures.

    I think the biggest point in Hasbro's favor with Legends is simply the selection. Although, Mafex makes a lot, and it's really nice that they even made something like the many different Wolverines, but when it comes to the deep dives or complete teams Mafex isn't going to do anything that isn't a sure seller, while Hasbro will at times fill out waves with characters that 9 out of 10 people have never heard of. It's quantity over quality, but for many fans quantity is what they want.

    Most of the complains with Hasbro seems to be fair in my opinion. With their QC issues, lack of accessories, and reuse of body molds and price hikes, I get why a lot of people villify Hasbro but for me, they will always be a big part of my collection. I only collect Marvel figs so having Hasbro's selection, availability and relatively lower price is good. I love collecting all sorts of wacky and unknown characters so having them represented by marvel legends is acceptable for me.

    Yes for not listening to what the fans want, like new figures for Andor including Deena Meero from the ISB, but Hasbro won't do that. But I also think it has something to do with the shows viewership, not a lot people liked it. Now NECA I have come across the Robocop figure twice at a Lexington comic-con, I never once bought it, and i'm still kicking myself for not buying it.

    • @margaritabell
      @margaritabell ปีที่แล้ว +1

  • @BilSande4
    @BilSande4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I am personally not a big fan of the imports. I actually think people sometimes delude themselves into thinking they are so great because the imports (Mafex, Mezco, etc.) cost 4 times more than a Marvel Legend or McFarlane Multiverse figure, so in that case they must be 4 times better. But I have never found that to be the case in my own experience. I bought the first Mezco DKR Batman figures and the first time I opened one up I tried to swap out one of the heads and the cape came unraveled and fell off and I had to sew it back together. Then when I moved the arms on the figure the back of his costume split open at the seam. I sewed that up too, but it looked like crap, so I tossed it in a box and haven’t touched it since. I had a couple more of those figures and I sold them both. I also had the first Mafex comic Spider-Man (the one with the darker colors and metallic paint). I thought that was going to be the best Spider-Man figure ever and the last one I would ever need, and then they went and released the new version, the exact same figure with more comic accurate colors. So much for spending the extra money to get the “definitive” Spider-Man. Aside from the colors I didn’t really like that figure anyway. The feet and hands were too small and it just felt flimsy to me. Like it could break very easily. I had a couple of those and when the Marvel Legends Retro Spider-Man came out, I sold both of the Mafex figures. The Legend figure just felt more sturdy in hand and it looked better too, IMO. Plus it had ratcheted joints. The joints on those Mafex figures are going to get really loose over time. Hardly worth paying $100 for when you can get the Marvel Legend for $25 when they first come out.

    While I don't have any Mezco (Not really into the soft goods), I love Mafex, but if your thing is really good posing. If you want to hit the most amazing positions with the figure, such as for photography, nothing really beats SH Figuarts or Figma. They are just so smooth in hand. But the prices on them aren't just insane, they are completely schizophrenic. They'll range anywhere from $30 US to $200 (Japan Web Exclusives) with no discernable reason as to why one is low and another is high. Now if you really want the best posing nothing beats Sen-Ti-Nel. Although they don't have a lot in 1/12 scale. They run towards 7". I do wish I had had the money and chance to grab their 1/12 scale Mospeada Ride Armor/Robotech Cyclones when they came out.

    Worst figure right now is the GI Joe Classified Falcon figure and for favorite its too tough to name just one figure; if it were i don't think i would as many figures i do... i have said if i had to whittle down my line i'd keep my handful of original 80s figures, all my Mezco figures, and my few Hot Toys. but this is if i had to. i am thinking of boxing up all my MCU Marvel Legends and storing them in the garage - i think for the most part my time collecting MCU figures is done and i've scaled back on comic Marvel figures, but will pick and choose the ones i like when they come out. and i've narrowed my scope on Black Series figures to mainly Manadalorian. i'm still invested in GI Joe Classified, McFarlane Toys DC figures, and cherry pick Mezco, Mafex, SH Figuarts, and Neca figures. i'm back to cherry picking Transformer figures from Hasbro, since entering into the Legacy and Evolution line - but i've scaled back on that line too and waiting for specific characters at this point.

    I’m a big collector of Marvel Legends, Black Series, Lightning Collection, Figuarts, Mafex, etc. I mainly get the figures I want or the ones I need to round out a collection. I have LOTS of Spider-Men’s, because he’s my favorite character and there’s the Spider-Verse so they all fit together. I have been trying to restrain myself a little because I don’t have a whole lot of space, but I’m trying to work on that. I really don't like the ASM figure. I don't believe it's technically a marvel legends figure, but close enough. I think it's just a terrible figure all around... color pallette, articulation... the sculpt is okay, I guess, but it's too soft. I tried to paint/wash it and it simply didn't work. On my favorites side, it's hard to say... I really like the movie Venom figure a lot (I haven't got king in black yet) and the carnage figure from that sane wave, is pretty amazing! But, if I wanted to get a bit more old school, I still really dig my mafex ASM2 figure (especially since I learned that the pink faded spots, can be turned red again, with a simple red sharpie!). I’ll say one thing Hasbro has over Mafex: for team building Marvel Legends is the best. There’s a giant roster of characters both well known and obscure so that you can build out any version of your favorite roster. Mafex has quite a few comic book figures, but no where near the extensive catalog Hasbro has. Plus, Mafex only focuses on well-known characters and teams. You’re not going to see Mafex make a DSpraye or really any lower tier Marvel character. That said, Mafex is my main go to for Marvel figures.

    For specific characters I'd say yes imports are better. Mafex spider-man figures are way better than anything has has done. However. For the price and sculpt. The thor and wolverine beat mafex versions imo and the 20th anniversary cap definitely is better than that doopy looking mafex cap. So disappointing

  • @daniel79tj
    @daniel79tj ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think Hasbro actually wins more than we give credit, the difference between a Mafex and a ML is not worth $70 in some cases, other companys don't really cover all of the stuff (SH only doing MCU figures or spider verse, not comic) and sometimes MAFEX gets the scale all wrong short Thor, skinny CAP from SDCC that they get beat by ML even without considering price.

    I'd say an interesting idea for a mixed Dc/Marvel display would be to pair up original characters with their copies by the other company. You know, Darkseid&Thanos, Deathstroke&Deadpool, Flash&Quicksilver etc.

    I don’t hate Hasbro, but their inability to distribute their figures is making it hard to like them. I’ve gotta go through 4-5 different retailers to get one complete line.

    I have some Mafex, but I usually prefer figuarts (except with Mandalorians) due to Mafex often has QC issues. They have got better over the years, but I find Mafex is still a craps shoot.

    I've been slowly coming around to the Mezco and Mafex figures. Marvel Legends are so expensive now. It's hard to justify buying a whole wave when 1) the BAFs are not great and 2) the waves have 2-3 figures that are just slight variants/updates of figures that we saw a year or two ago. I'd rather spend more money and get a figure with better articulation, tons of accessories, and those premium touches like cloth/wire capes, flight stands, and the like.
    My current favorite Legend is the newly released Drax the Destroyer from the two pack with Moondragon. Both figures look awesome...I had to put them directly on my desk.

  • @maddrop

    Hasbro wins the competition because sometimes we get a 30 bucks figure way better than some 100 dollars one. A good example is the cyclops from ML that is way better than the Mafex one and is 1 third of the price. Classified is a great example of a premium feel with a 25 dollar figure.

    • @jshaughn5109
      @jshaughn5109 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dude, there is no Marvel Legends figure better than its Mafex counterpart. It's not possible. The original Mafex Cyclops is WAY better than the VHS Legends Cyclops. Just the accessories alone put the Mafex version above the Legends. Now, if you want to make the argument that for $30, the Legends is the better value, I'd give you that. But there is no world where the Legends version is in anyway better than Mafex.
