Yes, but easily broken. Like foot and wrist pegs. Although, I may be thinking of flame toys model kits. Their snake eyes foot peg snapped just adjusting the foot position. Literally right after I put it together.
@@radarlovedrI wouldn't completely say so, I mean they are model kits after all but there are plenty that are almost as solid as action figures. This is like with most of my Gunpla kits
McFarlane is just as bad as hasbro or maybe worse. They’re bad at scaling their figures, the head sculpts for the cinematic verse tend to look off, the articulation is not that great, and a little too thick at times. I’ve tried getting into the line but the figures I’ve gotten have had more negative then positive
I've started ordering pre-orders from your store to keep my finances in order a little better. And you got the Mythic Legions faster than a different site I so moved the orders to your store. Really happy with everything so far. I need to pick up two more, but I need my overtime check.
That was a fantastic, almost definitive rundown. The “almost” though is because of the lack of Spero Toys’ Animal Warriors of the Kingdom, Boss Fight, Storm Collectibles, Loose Collector, and mentions of stuff coming down the pike like Savage Crucible, D13, Armies of Ashmoore, etc. Oh some other imports…D20, Xesray, Fury Toys, Memory Toys, etc. Totally get the need to limit it to a top 10, but maybe these could be for the next one?
I agree with you on missing Chicken Fried Toys Dime Novel Legends, Marauder Task Force, as well as Fresh Monkey Fiction. Those brands are sorely missing from the list.
I’m getting tired of how the big companies treat their customers and have been spending most of my money on third parties. I’m glad you mentioned 2 of my favorites in your top 4. Action Force is a great line the mostly focuses on more real world soldiers with some Sci-Fi elements thrown in. Their figures are easily customizable and their owner listens to and cares about his fans. Mythic Legions is another smaller business that cares about their fans. They let their fans vote on which figures they should make and which ones to re-release. Their universe is fantasy based. They also offer a Sci-Fi line line called Cosmic Legions. Both lines are easy to pop and swap parts.
I surprisingly find myself clicking more and more on your videos not because of the toy talk but because you genuinely seem like a good guy and it makes me happy
I'm surprised you didn't mention Mego. They're an underrated value at $15~$20 apiece, with a great selection of characters, including DC heroes, Star Trek, classic monsters, Planet of the Apes, and more. I just love their reproductions of vintage Mego DC heroes, along with their retro-styled additions to the line. They hit all the right nostalgia buttons for someone like me! If you're not familiar with what they've got, you should take a look at 'em!
The history of Action Force is actually way more complicated. It was a completely different toyline made in the UK, but Palitoy who made it also had distribution deals with Hasbro so they started to sneak repainted RAH figures into the line. Then they were bought out by Hasbro and the line was completely refreshed, with all the figures now basically being RAH figures with the Action Force name slapped on, until they just dropped it altogether and from that point the line was just called GI Joe in the UK. So it was a weird toyline that started out as one thing and then slowly became something else altogether. The original Palitoy figures are cool, they were basically made because Palitoy was seeing their sales of Action Man (the UK localised 12" GI Joe figure they'd been licencing from Hasbro for years) slipping, but sales of Star Wars figures picking up (they also had the UK licence for Star Wars and made some cool original pieces as well as importing a lot of Kenner stuff). They decided to relaunch Action Man as a 3.75" line, at pretty much exactly the same time Hasbro in the US had the same idea. Some of the Palitoy-era Action force figures and playsets are very cool and highly sought after by collectors.
I'm in the US and I've always been fascinated by Palitoy's legacy across the pond, seeing as I was born in literally the wrong place and time to appreciate them. Analog Toys does an exceptional job talking about them.
These days I'm definitely trying to get that 1 definitive figure. I got the original Mafex spiderman and have never needed another. SHF DBZ is a favorite but NECA is hard to beat especially as a TMNT fan. Some Jada Street Fighter figures are starting to pop up and that's a very promising line
The Bandai Star Wars model kits are essentially action figures with full articulation, though. You just need to put them together but they have all the same amount if not even more articulation than your Black Series figures.
I own several. Their troopers are leaps and bounds better than what Hasbro is offering. And because they use a harder plastic, armored characters actually feel like they're wearing armor and they tend to come with more hands and weapons than their American counterparts. The only downside now is the price skyrocketed after the pandemic (I remember en Ebay seller was selling the 1/12 character kits for less than $20 before 2020), the character selection isn't the greatest and they seemed to have slowed down releases and manufacturing considerably. I get mine now from BBTS and it can be months before a preorder gets fulfilled.
I collect DC Multiverse What I’m tired of is knowing when there are obvious, glaring issues with a figure (or figures) and rarely if ever hearing Todd McFarlane say he is working on the problem, I.e. at least trying any way to fix it. For example, when Target cancels an order and says they sent an email informing that if I don’t acknowledge I still want a particular figure. Or a figure whose arm breaks off at the bicep on literally half of those figures. I realize some things aren’t his fault, but he could at least 1. acknowledge he’s aware of the problem (“I hear your concerns!) 2. says he will then does actually meet with Target officials or with whomever else is in position to do better. Simple acknowledgment goes a long way.
figurarts are expensive but for anyone who wants to try them out without breaking the bank, target sells some of the base figures from like naruto and DBZ for like $40-50. I've seen naruto, goku, goku black to name a few, they don't really come with any accessories or FX pieces but they do come with several interchangeable hands and faces/heads so you do get plenty of display options. it gives you a good sample of what the line can do in terms of articulation without paying upwards of $60-100+ for most of their other figures. NECA is by far my favorite figure company cause you just can't beat their quality and the amount of stuff you get for the low price they charge (around $30 for normal figures to around $35-40 for predators).
I still like the old 3.75" Marvel Universe stuff, and actively collect them. I have multiple variants of Spider-Man and Captain America alone in that scale, and a crap-ton of other characters. And I collect Bandai and Kotobukiya model kits and various premium Japanese lines.
I've been loving collecting McFarlane DC and Spawn this past year, and I'm considering getting some Marvel Selects to go with them. One thing to note about DC Multiverse though, if you're leaving Hasbro because of their poor distribution and overreliance on exclusives McFarlane is still a little iffy in that regard. Recently they've been making a lot of the classic looks for characters (Shazam, Dick Grayson Robin, Manhunter, etc) Gold Label figures, which are store exclusives that often sell out fast and/or get worse distribution overall.
Funny thing is, back when I got into collecting again- Bowen and ARTFX / ARTFX+ Koto statues were one of the things I collected for a while. But great video! Another brand that's doing great and for $25 is Jada Toys. The Street Fighter figures are looking amazing! Their Universal Monsters are good and those Megaman figs are gonna be a great deal for $20 (apparently a bit cheaper since the robots are pretty short)
"Best third-party Transformers company" is a *loaded* topic. I don't think you'll ever find a true consensus; everyone has their favorites and their irrational hatreds. For my money, Mastermind Creations/Ocular Max is worth a look. They're not always the most articulated (though some recent figures like Optus Pexus are incredibly articulated) or the most accurate, but they're a good balance of price and quality with enough engineering to be fun but never tipping over into frustration or complexity for the sake of complexity.
NECA is killing it with their Universal Monsters line. The sculpts, the accessories, the packaging. Their Dracula face sculpt is one of the best likenesses I've ever seen on a figure!
There is an initial shock value with statues, but it will pass over time once the honeymoon phase ends. With toys, you can repose them and bang! New feelings all over again. Also, negative emotions can get attached to static environments over time. With toys, you can just change the pose. With statues, the very few smart collectors, like gemmint who has talked about this, sell and purchase new statues all the time to keep things fresh. This is the only way as you cannot repose. Statues are not an alternative, they are just different, and made for different types of people. Don't let the initial wow factor fool you. I am just saying this to protect even one purist toy collector. Don't make the mistake I did!
To me the posability is one of the biggest part of the "Art" that I enjoy about action figures. Ever since I found double knees and elbows its hard to even enjoy single joints. I have zero interest in statues. Even Reaction figures get a thumb down from me because we should be beyond that.
I haven't gotten any figures for years but damn, looking at what Hasbro did to the Marvel Legends line is insane. Toybiz had such great detail, even in it's little gun accessories. Really miss Toybiz.
@Laken Anderson I think they're pretty much identical. Mythic Legions do have a little more fragile joints, but they put a little note in every figure to remind you to heat it up before trying to brute force posing. But once you've got them loosened a little, they hold poses wonderfully and the paint apps are simply incomparable.
Oh god how do I let YT know these are the kind of ads I wana see??? Better call Nerdy! I really like the Hulk but Prince Adam with the 80s hairy body is just too real lol. Great showcase for other types of figures on the market. I always forget there's new collectors that don't know what's out there. I'm pleased to say a lot of the companies I collect aside from Hasbro were on the list: Amazing Yamaguchi, Diamond Select, S.H.Figuarts, Mezco, and of course the figures I would sustain 3rd degree burns to rescue - MAFEX! It was tough to see them come in third place but Legions really does have crazy good attributes as a figure line, even though I don't collect them. Also commendable that you kept your description to the mostly positive aspects of lines while mentioning the common critiques, I.e. BST AXN, McF figures. Glad ya'll started the store. I do my best to support: picked up the Mafex Boba reissue and the latest retro card X-Men wave from you guys. Keep up the great work!
Good call on Action Force. They aren't cheap, but like you say, once you hold one in person and see how well they're made and sculpted--and all the goodies they come with--the price seems fair. An awesome alternative/supplement to the Classified line.
I've pretty much stopped giving Hasbro money outside of deep clearance. NECA is the best company out there when you consider both the quality and the price, and right now it is not particularly close.
As a collector of the gallery statues I can say they do indeed make Star Wars statues. I have a Boba Fett gallery statue in my room right now. You have to get them from Disney’s online store however
8:33 early on BST AXN had a lot of lines (even if only a couple of figures per property). I recall seeing a Buffy & Angel, LotR, Cowboy Bebop, Big Trouble in Little Chinatown, and others. 15:41 those are some nice looking customs for F4 with mythic legions parts.
Just got my Dark Evil-Lyn from Mattel today! Beautiful Figure! I don't usually go the 7" Scale, but she's just too nice. I also have the very Expensive Sun Wukong aka Monkey King ordered as well as Red Sonja! Again, I normally can't afford the more expensive Figures, but I am biting the bullet! I am buying Warhammer Armored Figures when I can afford them. I am buying the cheaper $20 ones right now. McFarlane DC stink! All Batman, others look like they have Down's Syndrome! I have built 6 different DC Earth's, I have bought exactly 4 McFarlane DC Figures! I would buy DC if I thought they were any good! And yesterday I celebrated my 29th year as a Collector! I have built 10 different Earth's, I have over 4,000 Figures! I can not afford Mafex or Mezco! I can rarely go Expensive.
Thanks for all the great info. Also - got my Marvel Select Apocalypse from Nerdzoic this week and wow is he a big boy. Looks great in my Xmen display. Great experience Matt! Thank you! To throw a another one in there - I recently picked up some of the Animal Warriors of the Kingdom from Spero Toys. The design and lore are really fun and boy are these quality figures for a great price. I picked up two to check them out and they are so fun to pose I can't stop playing with them at my desk, the joints and materials feel higher quality than anything I've picked up in a while.
I recently stopped buying Hasbro Transformers, and I'm now buying all 3d party and couldn't be happier. I still buy the Hammond Collection stuff, but beyond that, it's all independents who I get my dinosaur stuff from. Beasts of the Mesozoic changed my life. The Jurassic franchise is fucking dead in the water, as are 30 dollar Transformers. Things have gotten so fucking bad. I really miss TOYSRUS! NECA has yet to let me down with the Aliens and Predators, and I'm thankful for that at least. Iron Factory makes incredible 3d party Transformers!
Big Nerdy, @10:23 you look Thorbowski in that 4-Horsemen figure lol! Their MOTU figures line look waaaaay better than Mattel’s revamped line in stores. Still have my OG figures. I’ve been collecting a number of figures from Bandai; S.H. FigureArts Suicide Squad Harley Quinn, MonsterArts Godzilla (his rogue kaiju monsters are pricier than him!). Super7 figures are a great homage to pop culture. My only Mafex is Joker Jared Leto of Suicide Squad I preordered with FigureArts Harley, took almost 2 years to arrive! I still collect some NECA after getting Batman Michael Keaton 1/3 figure some yrs ago, I recently got Freddy Krueger and Friday the 13th Part 3D Jason Voorhees figures. I may get Michael Myers, Evil Dead Ash, and others. And I do collect Hot Toys figures, statues, Takara and Hasbro’s Masterpiece Transformers.
I can't remember when I subbed to you but I believe it was around 2021 ish? I just wanted to pop in say how awsome it is to see your business journey and the story of how it got started. Your wife seems really amazing and supportive and confident in your ability to go all in with you. She believes in you and I don't know you but I believe in you too. I very much enjoy your videos and I love watching your growth both in channel traffic and your store. I hope to see some day that you have a massive toy retail business and paid employees 🙏 wish you and your family the best brother. Keep up the great work
Newage, and other 3rd party Legends scale Transformers have been getting my money for the past year. If I'm gonna pay over $25.00 for molded plastic, comic book action figures, I'll pick and choose between Mafex and Amazing Yamaguchi figures. Totally disappointed with the Marvel Legends 60th Anniversary box set.
I actually thought about taking Hasbro to court for not releasing merchandise at my local Wal-Mart the last time I saw vintage collection figures at my Wal-Mart was 2019 and no they didn't get any in and sell them and I didn't know about it they literally have not sent anything to where I live so therefore I don't have access to their products.
Aww no Halo mention. Feel like Jazware's 4" World of Halo and 6.5" Spartan Collection lines are pretty great also. Even if you never played the games, the figures themselves are very unique and well done for the most part. If you like space marines or aliens, it's an awesome series.
My main issue with Mattel and Hasbro (besides pricing) is their distribution is so hit or miss. The Mafex figures look incredible, but they're expensive. Been going back and forth on whether or not to get the Mafex Force Awakens Rey (best head sculpt I've seen of her, best figure likeness of Daisy Ridley I've seen, every bit as good as the Hot Toys Rise of Skywalker Rey at a fraction of the price for that one)
I like to put in an honorable mention to Final Faction. It's a Dollar Tree 3.3/4" 5 POA action figure line that is easy to find, affordable ($1.25 per figure), and highly customizable. The Kharn aliens alone are easy to army build and place into any 3.3/4" collection to fight!
They're definitely low quality, but man I would have LOVED those as a kid. They remind me so much of everything I loved about the GI Joe aisle in the 90s. And I love that there are cool toys being priced for actual kids still and not just middle age, middle class collectors.
I would not call Final Faction as something to "collect" , because you can get almost everthing under $100 ... if you own everything you got nothing more to collect . Collecting is for me if a company releases at least 10 figures in a years .
Collecting this stuff is a sucker's game. Why spend 20-500 dollars when you can make your own? When i see a figure i like i just stroll theough the neighborhood scooping up nice big dog turds. The secret is to get them when they are almost not steamy. I just take them home, gently mold a shape and start sculpting. Painti ng can be tricky if the turds are a little greasy but they look great. After my wife left me I turned her side of the closet into a display.
Great video. It's a great time to be collector with all the options out there, as long as you can keep yourself disciplined and not chase every shiny new line that comes out.
I love my NECA toys, McFarlane's, and DST. My first premium diorama was a Crow one, by NECA. The Reel Toy Batarangs needed better stands, but I dig em.
No no no you can't play with statues, so you won't get anything out of them. Stay away from them if you want to be happy. No one healthy grows up playing with statues as a child. If you had a good, happy childhood filled with toys, then stick with toys. There is a satisfaction that comes from posing and reposing your action figures that can't be had with statues. Also, the statue community is very toxic. Toy collectors and statue collectors are literally different people. I have done extensive research. You have been warned. Protect yourself and your mental well-being. Thank you.
Thanks for the video Nerdy. It is very beneficial for a collector to get this information from a seller. A significant majority of my purchasing has to be online, so YT is an extremely powerful tool for me. Channels such as your's provides me the options otherwise only discovered upon trial and error. I have discovered that my preference to Hasbro's Marvel Legends indiscretions are Diamond Marvel Select for comic book based characters. Their attention to detail is incredible and rarely approached by others in action figure form. I would never have known about "Select" if it were not for your channel.
Count me in as someone who is checked out of Hasbro's offerings save for when they make a character that I know nobody else will (EU and videogames). I'm tired of substandard articulation, crappy plastics and rising prices that make purchasing more higher end stuff palatable. NECA and Hiya for my Aliens and Predators (glad you mentioned them!), 3rd party transformers for my Beast Wars fix (specifically, TransArts Toys for Season 2 and 3 characters), Bandai, MPC and AMT for my Star Wars model kits as well as the Tamashii Natons Movie Realization line for those higher end Star Wars figures that are incredible and DC Multiverse for, duh, DC. I'm considering taking the plunge on a Mezco Alien or Predator to see if they are worth it over NECA; reviewers I watch are kinda torn which was surprising. And say what you want about McFarlane Toys, at least they try to give in some extra value for the money in the form of extra hands, stands and the build a figure concept. Star Wars Black Series and Vintage Collection are very barebones.
This is an excellent video and a great way to give disaffected collectors a 2nd and 3rd option, and a way to produce good healthy and steady competition!
Omg thank you for this. Randomly found this video while browsing. I just started figure collecting, and I've been Google searching for unique toy lines aside from play arts, Marvel Legend, lines from BBTS, hot toys, etc. A video that got my interest was someone doing a review on the amazing yamaguchi Spiderman, and that was the start. Then, I randomly found the sentinel series like fighting armor and others, and even the beast kingdom Iron Man and meisho movie lines, as you also mentioned in your video. I have more interest in unique lines with some good articulation. Other than what you mentioned in the video, are there any other lines I can look into?
Mafex Deadpool and Spidey are the best of the 1:12 versions of those characters. Hell, even their 20 dollar bootlegs are king. Venom SHOULD have been but he is short. There are people who offer parts to mod him easily though to make him taller...
Awesome! Well said, man. I too used to, well, like getting action figures. Was pretty disappointed with ‘Boing’ parts falling off like the MacFarlen series (only good in boxes). Eh, not so great taken out of them boxes. You could well be the Ambassador of ‘Mid Country’* toys. Hahaha. Spread you views across Asia. Would nice if you can review Mech toys - like Robotech, Transformers, etc. I once saw somebody trying to sell Robotech’s Action Figure with the Cyclone Bike for ONE Thousand bucks (people actually paid that price! Dang!). Thank you for the reviews. BTW *Mid Country - literal translation for China.
To me NECA has offered the best bang for your buck on domestic figures to date. It helps I'm a horror nerd and they do everything from the Universal Monsters to The Conjuring Universe and their non-horror properties like Alf or TMNT are better than they have any right to be. Aside from WWE Mattel, NECA's the one brand I'll go out of my way to track down. I just got their Dracula, it's already a contender for best of 2023, it's perfection! Also I'd like to add one more brand to the list: Jada Toys. They only have Universal Monsters and soon Street Fighter to their name, but I'm seriously impressed with what they've done so far and how they're continuing to make strides to improve their product. They're a cheaper alternative for NECA's Universal Monsters if you want more generic versions of the characters over Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff and Lon Chaney Jr's portrayals
Mafex, SH Figuarts, Figma, Valaverse, Mythic Legions, Mezco, Storm Collectibles, Beast Kingdom, Neca, and that's not even including the Third Party Transformers companies...there's so many...
Oh Jang man, I'm really sorry you've had to deal with these people you're my favourite person in the Lego community with the phenomenal Lego MOCs you create and marvellous reviews and the things you do both on and off camera. Hell sometimes I watch reviews of sets I know I'd never buy just to hear your two cents. Stay cool, and if you need it take a break.
Been watching Better Call Saul, Big Nerdy? 🤣 I've been collecting the movie masters green lantern figures lately, they're cheap they stand up and they look cool, and seeing the movie in theaters as a kid gives it a special place in my heart. I hardly ever buy anything they release nowadays. Just ordered a DC Direct series 1 Kilowog now that I've pretty much got the movie masters line complete, time to start on the comic lanterns! Had to start with my man Kilowog ✊
3rd party figures from China are also very good. A lot have soft goods just like mezco. there are also a few brands releasing silicon bodies with metal skeleton with great articulation. I'm slowly growing my resident evil characters, just got a Patterson bruce Wayne and the mask
Thank you for combining my niche interests with your amazing introduction gag. Speaking of, when are we going to get new Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul lines?
As a batman collector I will say Todd's hands are kind of tied because DC mandated especially with the 66 line a batman be in every wave and it sort of carried over to the multiverse line and Todd also has a special connection to the bat.
SHF in general are pretty much true 1/12 scale as far as action figures go, marvel legends and mezco are the oversized figures. Measuring my ML animated wolverine now and multiplying his height by 12 nets me 5'8". Ironman's 6'6".
SHF are very rarely true 1/12. I think they try to be, but they have absolutely no concept of hair, helmets, boots, etc adding height to characters. Any character with a helmet or big hair is guaranteed to be way too small. They also struggle with the idea that a head needs to fit inside a helmet. MAFEX is almost always close to bang-on 1/12 for movie characters, with weird, glaring exceptions like their Suicide Squad figures. MCU ML figures are consistently closer to 1/12 than comic book ML figures. No idea why.
@@toddjones1480 You'll need to cite some examples for the height inconsistency. Been collecting em heavily for over a decade now, some definitely have issues but none spring to mind, hard to believe that most are grossly off scale. The helmet part is hilariously true though (save for shinkocchou seihou figures). Measuring some random figures within reach: Ironman MK 43: 16cm (1.92m) Avengers Assemble Hulk: 20cm without hair (2.4m) Kamen Rider Drive: 15cm (1.8m) It seems they take helmet/boots/hair/japanese vs european heights into consideration regardless. The hemet thing is as negligible as the giant diapers on Mafex male superheroes.
This is one of my favorite video that you made! Very informative with great detail! I'm glad that Nerdzoic is there to help out with the alternatives! Thanks Matt!
Another great vid Big Nerdy. For me it MAFEX! Best way to go for both DC/Marvel figures no questions. Haven't even thought about buying a ML figure in about maybe 5 years now.
SH Figure Arts fugs were the standard for articulation and quality going fir anime figures as far back as the late 90,s . They were the furst action figure line that were priced at premium prices of $30 to $90. Hasbro and the other U.S. action figure toy companies didn't start adapting Figure Arts quality until the earl 2000,s
I Collected mega contrux for a while and while i don't really anymore it is super cheap and a great way to army build. Insane detail for figures that small and great vehicles, weapons ect.
The new editing style is great! It's fun to watch, and it reduces the exposure of the weird facial expression you make; (disgust/confusion). Big thumbs up! 👍
Hello big nerdy from north of the boarder here in downtown Hamilton Ontario Canada I'm Peter papadimitriou and no I haven't yet ordered anything off your online business as of yet mostly because of my income, see my story is I was born with a whole in my heart almost 51 years ago and had open heart surgery when I was 4 at sick kids hospital in Toronto and I'm playing alot of toys as a kid mostly transformers and Star wars and among others and when I hit 16 years old my mom vassa past away in her sleep from a brain aneurysm at 38 years old I started collecting toys instead of playing with them LoL. And now that I'm living alone and get disability benefits here because I'm a stroke and cardiac arrest and colon cancer survivor and use a electrical wheelchair when I'm outside of my apartment building and have limited access to getting toys from the other companies that you mentioned in the videos which are great by the way. I usually get the odd transformer or Star wars, Pop figure the odd Time either through Walmart, Toys r us or eb games.
I buy lots of 3rd Party Transformers, figuarts (Star Wars and Endgame Avengers), some Mafex (often I find the figuarts are better, but not always. Mafex really does Mandalorians well), and used to collect Neca TMNT, but they are hard to track down in my part of Canada these days.
The super sentai toys are so freaking good and I honestly recommend them. I know it's nothing to do with marvel or dc but it's so good I can't help but recommend them. They are such good quality that it looks like its ripped straight out of the show
The Amazing Yamaguchi Venom and Carnage are on my list, have a Transformers KO Devastor. McFarlane DC Multiverse is amazing, they have great sculpts and many cool waves
correction: SHFiguarts are true 1/12 scale. where Mezco is 1/11 to 1/10 with most of their things. Hasbro ML is a 6-inch scale (don't confuse this with 1/12 scale, because 6-inch scale means all regular characters starts at 6-inch with shorter character gets smaller and larger character larger)
What is Your Favorite non-Hasbro/Mattel Toy Line?

Valaverse Action Force. Nothin else even comes close.
Diamond Marvel Select for comic based characters. Valaverse Action Force for everything else.
Neca but their distribution isn't really good at all
The Bandai model kits are actually quite posable. They have better articulation than some hasbros
Yes, but easily broken. Like foot and wrist pegs. Although, I may be thinking of flame toys model kits. Their snake eyes foot peg snapped just adjusting the foot position. Literally right after I put it together.
@@radarlovedr Nope, you are right, Bandai model kits are too fragile for my taste. It seems that Flame Toys isn't any different then.
@@radarlovedrI wouldn't completely say so, I mean they are model kits after all but there are plenty that are almost as solid as action figures.
This is like with most of my Gunpla kits
@@snakeshadowcollectibles6835Most of my Bandai kits are quite solid though, I don't know how yours are that fragile
I like the way they look tho
I've been getting a lot more Mcfarlane recently, just cause of the sculpts, paint and care I feel overall that is put into the figs
Bro same. I have very much enjoyed building up my DC stuff. I love that good price point
Are they still doing the side eye thing?
McFarlane is just as bad as hasbro or maybe worse. They’re bad at scaling their figures, the head sculpts for the cinematic verse tend to look off, the articulation is not that great, and a little too thick at times. I’ve tried getting into the line but the figures I’ve gotten have had more negative then positive
I sold my black series and then started mcfarlane DC instead: big fig ✔ good price ✔ window box ✔

The thing I truly appreciate about Valaverse's Action Force is that you can tell they're passionate about that line.
NECA is killing it with nearly everything they're making
@@keeleon There will always be a place for statues. They are more artistic in that they look much better aesthetically than jointed action figures.
I haven't gotten any figures for years but damn, looking at what Hasbro did to the Marvel Legends line is insane. Toybiz had such great detail, even in it's little gun accessories. Really miss Toybiz.
Definitely recommend action force and mythic legions. both are very well made lines and are great for kit bashers and customizers.
I agree Bucko!!!!
I refuse to keep stuff in packaging. If I buy it its because I want to display and I don't resell stuff I collect.
Keep up the great work
I am willing to die on the hill that Gi joe Classified and He-Man Masterverse are great lines.
The "other" companies are expensive and go waaaaay outside my affordability range....If you go above 50 bucks...I can't flip for it.
My main issue other than pricing with legends, is the damn distribution is so hit and miss.
Always Mafex, go for it you'll not regret it.
The Mafex Rey looks way better in photos than irl. Check out TH-cam reviews if you haven’t already to see the actual product.
@@LandspeederLuke I got it, and it looks damn good IRL.
@@stevegallo8483 cool!
I collect Daleks from the Underground Toys Doctor Who line of the 2010s. No regrets
I kinda don't care anymore. I've canceled almost all preorders and only bought perhaps 3 figures this past year
Want the toys to go down? Stop buying then
Marvel select is and has been far superior to Hasbro. The paint, sculpt, packaging ect. Have every comic based addition since early 2000s.
Just looked at your website and you don't shiv people in the gut with nutty shipping prices. I will be purchasing something this Friday. Thank you.
I love my NECA toys, McFarlane's, and DST. My first premium diorama was a Crow one, by NECA. The Reel Toy Batarangs needed better stands, but I dig em.
That intro is pure gold Big Nerdy.
I'm excited to see where Jada Toys is going. Buying their Ryu, and super excited about Mega Man.
NECA’s Universal Monsters and TMNT among others… also anything by McFarlane, loving the Avatar (Movie) figures.
I just went back to collecting 80s vintage toys, its more fun hunting the rare ones than looking for modern stuff imo😊
Neca is my favorite just wished it wasn't so bad with distribution. Also Jaswars World of Halo 3.75in line is amazing line to collect.
Mcfarlane and Diamond Select. The only companies that I’m collecting.
Mcfarlane for the win. MVP of the entire industry
5:39 If you get a deal with Hiya to carry that amazing Cobra Commander, you'll definitely get a sale from me!
Dude you forgot Jada Toys, the Street Fighter and Megaman figures are art. And the Universal Monsters.
The Loyal Subject Buffy figs friggin' suck.
Mafex, SH Figuarts, Figma, Valaverse, Mythic Legions, Mezco, Storm Collectibles, Beast Kingdom, Neca, and that's not even including the Third Party Transformers companies...there's so many...
After seeing the prices, I'd rather keep buying the shit hasbro puts out
I saw Star Wars The Vintage Collection Dark Trooper Action Figure, enclosed in a box. Refused to purchase it.
I am old enough to remember a time when Marvel Legends were the crap figures and DC ruled my wallet.
I think we are there again
Oh this video was 100% needed
Been watching Better Call Saul, Big Nerdy? 🤣 I've been collecting the movie masters green lantern figures lately, they're cheap they stand up and they look cool, and seeing the movie in theaters as a kid gives it a special place in my heart. I hardly ever buy anything they release nowadays. Just ordered a DC Direct series 1 Kilowog now that I've pretty much got the movie masters line complete, time to start on the comic lanterns! Had to start with my man Kilowog ✊
Hasbro and Mattel are getting greedy and stupid.
They have no business lowering their quality and increasing prices.
3rd party figures from China are also very good. A lot have soft goods just like mezco. there are also a few brands releasing silicon bodies with metal skeleton with great articulation.
I'm slowly growing my resident evil characters, just got a Patterson bruce Wayne and the mask
That open is one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a while! Great video; I’d not heard of some of these!
Thank you for combining my niche interests with your amazing introduction gag. Speaking of, when are we going to get new Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul lines?
you missed jada toys, check their street fighter line
Measuring some random figures within reach:
Ironman MK 43: 16cm (1.92m)
Avengers Assemble Hulk: 20cm without hair (2.4m)
Kamen Rider Drive: 15cm (1.8m)
It seems they take helmet/boots/hair/japanese vs european heights into consideration regardless.
Haven't even thought about buying a ML figure in about maybe 5 years now.
bro turned into Saul Goodman, that's good advertising,,,,
McFarlane and Neca are the only toy companies I’ll give $ to
SH Figure Arts fugs were the standard for articulation and quality going fir anime figures as far back as the late 90,s . They were the furst action figure line that were priced at premium prices of $30 to $90.
Hasbro and the other U.S. action figure toy companies didn't start adapting Figure Arts quality until the earl 2000,s
Mythic legions the way to go!!! Go great next to diamond select lotr
Great vid! Been moving to Sh Figuarts (tamashii nations) recently over legends. The quality for what you pay for is just so much better.
They are such good quality that it looks like its ripped straight out of the show
Hey Nerdy. Do you think the mezco Spidey, Goblin, and Dr Doom will drop this month?
Great video!! Anime Heroes by Ban Dai is a good alternative to SH Figuarts for anime fans - slightly lower quality but also way more affordable.
I got the Mafex classic and symbiote spider-man, and yeah, I don’t think I’ll ever want to buy another spidey in those specific costumes
The Amazing Yamaguchi Venom and Carnage are on my list, have a Transformers KO Devastor. McFarlane DC Multiverse is amazing, they have great sculpts and many cool waves
No mention of Jada Toys?! WOT
Thank you big nerdy for being a total bad-4ss& for bringing some humility to this hobby. Keep being you bro
correction: SHFiguarts are true 1/12 scale. where Mezco is 1/11 to 1/10 with most of their things. Hasbro ML is a 6-inch scale (don't confuse this with 1/12 scale, because 6-inch scale means all regular characters starts at 6-inch with shorter character gets smaller and larger character larger)
