This talented lady beat all odds to hold on to what she loved...music. She was a fighter and a winner during her life's battles. But she never lost her ability to entertain. R.I.P. Etta. ❤
That was awesome. I just love Etta James always have. That is one of my favorite songs of hers. Also, at last that’s one of my favorites also of the great late Etta James!! By the way, I just ran across your channel. You are awesome seem like a nice guy. Be blessed. And I just love you accent.😀✌🏾🙌🏾🤎
Oh, I'm so happy you reacted to this. I feel like everyone knows "At Last" but this one just cuts my heart out. The ache, the desperation, unfortunately a lot of us have been there and having music in the world that speaks to these emotions is everything.
Yes, i agree with what you have said only Etta James can sing that song it was her pain so she told her truth through song and even though many try to imitate her they just can't and the best thing there is to do is just play the song and listen because the vocals the space between the notes it all belongs to Etta James herself.
No one could sing with such emotion and passion and pain like Etta did. You could hear the pain in her voice when she sang. You should check out her cover of the Alice Cooper(!) song Only Women Bleed a perfect song for her!
One of Ettas best performances and with that Band behind her of top class musicians including Howard Johnson on Baritone and Tuba wow Check out the rest of the songs all good particularly the the Ray Charles Classic Drown in my own Tears !
There is one pint in song she turn lowers the mic and letgo and nearly took the guitarist head off but she also has a close and intimate fun with the crowd
“It took a while to get me here, and I’m gonna take my time. Don’t fight that good sh*t in your ear, now let me blow your mind.” That was not from Etta, but that was the attitude she had. SHE (omg) was not afraid of silence. And she was gonna savor every single second of it. She wanted girls to know that if she got there, and they had something in them, they could get there too. No fear. Actually, scratch that. Not “no fear”. If you never feel like you could possibly about to be paralyzed by fear, maybe you’re doing something wrong…? Look at her. She said, fk it! And let it rip. I wish I could do that. Go Etta! Btw, I love that victrola sitting next to you.
That part that seemed awkward (to me, at least) where she bent forward and froze locking eyes with an audience member… I think it was a particular black girl that was about to come up and become famous, because I recognize her face. (I can’t remember her name at this moment. Minute 1:47 in your video.) But it would make sense that she would lock eyes to someone to say “Hey, this could be you too, if you got it in you.”
Ahhh I missed seeing your reactions to Angelina Jordan. This is one of her idols. Angelina has a new EP out that is incredible. It’s all originals and soooo good. Look forward to seeing you. Bye the way Angelina done an awesome cover of this at 12/13 yrs. ❤
I wonder if she was married. #1. He’d have to be damn worth it; marriage is hard, and she had choices. He11, she was Etta James. #2. He’d better ‘show up!’ to get and keep a woman like her. BECAUSE judging by the look on your face, many men must have looked at her as if they were in love. I’m sure if she was not married, it was by choice, which wouldn’t surprise me. I am single by choice. Maybe I just haven’t met one, that looks at me like you look at her, whom is worth keeping. ❤ I’m betting your wife is very lucky. Side note: NICE VICTROLA.

Etta was the truth. Love me some Etta. ❤❤❤
This is just one of the greatest female vocalist performances of all time. That's all.

So true Elina. This is just impeccable

I wish I could do that. Go Etta!

No auto tune - just her and the microphone. I saw her live and she was so heavy she had to be helped onto the stage but t that voice!
RIP Etta
So nice/ great reaction.
She’s magnificent. Yeah vocal envy.
If you haven’t seen it, the movie Cadillac Records is about the record company she was signed to. Beyoncé does a great job as Etta.
Her man back there with the band she goes to him at last of the song and said lord don't let him leave me
Now you know where Tennessee Whiskey comes from.
Imagine if her and Mavis Staples did a song together her. That would have been amazing.
Omg I would have died a million deaths
@@TheCharlieSmithChannel 🤣🤣. Same!
Have you ever heard "Sugar on the Floor"
I met Janis Joplin and she said she got ever inflection from Etta

Spellbinding
Gotta say it’s cool for an American to see you wearing a yankee hat - why red? ❤
Because I'm a blood
😂 joke. No reason other than I like red
If you look up "soul" in the dictionary, Etta's picture would be there
This was a great reaction. Angelina Jordan did a brilliant and emotional cover of this.

Side note: NICE VICTROLA.
You have to do Angelina Jordan's version of this now
Now check out a cover of this by Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa. Amazing.
Oh I've seen it many many many times. It's great
Great reaction 👍 - Would be wonderful if you could react to Angelina Jordan performing this song.
For me this is the greatest live performance of any song period.
