- Stay Humble. It’s a piece of advice given to many young individuals, especially entrepreneurs. It’s quite difficult to see it play out once said individuals see the success at the end of the tunnel. Yet somehow, this is something that still holds true for Akira Nakai. After all these years and the explosion of popularity of RWB, we see that Nakai-san is still the same man he was, working out of his little shop in Chiba, Japan. He’s still doing what he loves most, being the outlaw Porsche tuner who cuts 911s.

Man, his English is so good now, since that first Dino article I have been in love with this style. Not just because it so wild but he makes the car alive, like a feeling, a ghost, a myth, but tangible and real.
YES! Very well put! It's like he's breathing a soul into life. Absolutely stunning 😍
I had a love for RWB but Dino really drilled it home for me. I think it was his Rough Rhythm article, when Nakai handed him the keys. Incredible stuff
Nakai is the classic example of a Japanese artisan that gives his all on everything he does with his passion
why cant confusd ppl just shut up instead of pretending to be insightful
@@CarNerd you seem nice
@@ukiyo5283 you seem indifferent to criticism like someone with schizoid personality disorder
@@ukiyo5283 Don't even listen to people like him.

I saw Larry Chens name and Nakai. I stopped everything I was doing to click and watch. Fantastic content as always. Thanks Hagerty for putting together an amazing mash of car cultures.
Good life choices.
I remember a trip to Chiba in 2012 and Toshi arranged me to come and meet Nakai san on a random weekday at the RWB shop. Even back then he was a busy guy but nice enough to spend some time and chat even in basic English. I remember his hospitality and warm spirit. He sent me off with a bunch of RWB merch and stickers, so cool. Even let me take photos with him and his cars. Im glad his business has only grown since then
This man is the perfect example of ikigai. This is the representation every human needs to find their purpose in this world. 🙌 🫶
He said, "so many people outside, not so many people, same mind." This man is in touch with the whole universe through porsches.
I was lucky enough to watch and photograph Nakai build Rutledge Woods LS3 swapped RWB and it was an INSANE experience and truly made me appreciate these cars soooo much more.
Thank you again Hagerty for picking up Larry Chen. Love this
Literally one of my favorite new shows. Thank you Larry, it’s an honor to see your content! Keep it coming! 🤙
First I have not watched the whole thing yet
But just the first few minutes. I appreciate the words and respect given to Dino. And the history between the both of you as well Larry how you both were on speedhunters. And following you all these years and your stories. With out a doubt you both are monsters in the industry. And it’s exciting to see you grow Larry. I just want Dino to get his due share. And you make those comments means a lot to me.
It’s a privilege to know both of you and have friendships.
Also thank you for visiting Nakai-san
We all brothers of RWB
Thank you. See ya at sema
Damn his work is is cold 🥶 Everything about Nakai screams artist. his hair his attitude and the fact he smokes cigarettes with sandals on …. Japan will eventually make a statue of him and I promise it will have sandals 🏎️
Nakai is such a generous and vast experience still talking like each and every word. I am just the beginning and I am trying to work and learn about my whole life.
"it's so wide"
"Yeah" said so casually XD
Thank you Larry for making this show and giving the car culture it's voice
This man truly has been my go back to inspiration for over a decade . Rwb chassis Porsche by him and rotary powered is a dream build for me . A outlaw legend he will always be . 🙇🏻🖤🍻
he is a genius.
The dedication and inspiration is unreal.
His humility and demeanor make his videos surreal
I’ve been a RWB fan for many years! This video reminded me why. Thank you Larry and Dino👌
This has 100% been my video of the year, Nakai is legend and I'm so glad that you guys were able to make this happen, and I definitely agree with the idea that the 997 build is the opposite of Nakai-san maturing
larry chen + hagerty turned out to be good
😋 thanks for watching
Larry always hits it out of the park in terms of content. So happy to see that he/Hagerty are on this journey together and I look forward to what will come of it!
Hagerty is hitting it out of the park. Great commitment to great content. Hope to see alot more Larry here.
I’ve been very fortunate to be able to witness Nakai San build an RWB 993. Those two days are probably the greatest two days in my life and I will never forget them.
Truly one of the most beautiful videos I’ve ever watched
I told myself I only wanted 7 dream cars but after seeing this masterpiece and his passion makes me wanna put it to 8 that's awesome!! Man defined everything and beat the odds!!! Love to see it❤
I love RWD he is definitely humble kind polite respectful an inspiration I just can’t put more words to describe him he is definitely a Japanese HERO
I'm a huge RWB fan. I love Akira Nakai's work! Great video!!!
I LOVED this episode! Knocked it out of the park. Please give us more like this!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Larry your a legend!!!!!!! Your content is my #1 favorite thing to watch.
Nakai San is so inspirational 🙌 .
I remember a few years back while in Tokyo, i was queueing up at a ramen restaurant in Akasaka then i saw Nakai-san passing by in his purple RWB, pretty sick ride in person. Sadly my phone was crappy at that time so taking picture at night was totally out of the question.
i love nakai because he feels genuine even when theres not a word said like his pants are ripped his hands and knees are dirty from working and he'll smoke even when the cameras on him because thats probably what he does anyways
Big fan of this quiet man. He’s an artist and genius 🤜🏽
When modern Porsche's become "common" and modded like "No big deal", you have this. Crazy! Never knew about this until I watched this video. Thanks for sharing this with the world. Another reason I need to get to Japan.
Dino is a legend. Speedhunters really helped capture the tuning culture in Japan for us Westerners. Thanks Larry!
Larry, glad to see you give the 997 RWB some love. We've all seen the air-cooled 991's but enjoy the 997. RWB and Nakai-San has inspired us at Indecent to widen 911's!
Thanks for sharing this story. You are so talented taking outstanding, meaningful photos/videos and also relating the background story with such passion. Akira Nakai is such a talented and humble person. Thanks for sharing this story.
I love humble people, wickedly talented individual that is sure a gift... Salt of the earth 🌎
Incredible. And I have to say that this video really helped me to love and appreciate the RWB evolution more (moving to water-cooled).
It doesn’t matter how many times I see Nakai’s shop- I’m still amazed.
Wow, best episode yet! Keep them coming! Love Japanese car culture!
Hope to see his Story in depth some time in the cinema. I think he deserves it because he is a living legend! Its Art, he is a Artist, Master in his crafts. ❤
Simply amazing, thanks Larry and Dino
Terima kasih bro.. episode ini bisa melihat kedalam bengkel Nakai... terima kasih Larry
The legend himself respect!!!
He was my source of inspiration with doing my widebody kit to my charger. When you're in it nothing matters & it's all about craftsmanship

Love this video, love Nakai San’s Humility, Simple guy, such a great guy and a legend ! Thanks for this video. Hopefully someday I can get a Porsche modified by him too. This is a huge treat to all petroheads out there !
I think the first time I saw an RWB was in Du Pont Registry as a kid, along side like Gemballa and Strosek stuff. Simply legendary.
This is definitely a dream of mine to go to Japan and chill at Nakai san shop and watch him work or clean some cars for him.. super super cool
I love how nakai's english has improved throughout the years.
I hope i'll get my hands on an rwb 993 one day, this documentary brought me hope, thank you
Larry is the King!!! Awesome content, always!
So good to see someone whose clearly blown up financially and fame wise and still stick with the original passion and not change
Akira Nakai is a god. My dream car is a 964 RWB. I LOVE RWB. This video is amazing. Thanks Larry!
Easiest follow for a channel in my history.
Great video! Thank you, Larry
I still remember the first Speedhunters post on Nakai-san, RWB, Idlers, … Mesmerizing! Greetings from the Stella Artois country!
Oh man what a person to get to do a story on. Your a lucky guy mr Chen.
Larry Chen, you inspire us.
Larry Chen - Dino - Nanak san = LEGENDS . Keep em coming sir 👌
His work is Art. Amazing.🤙🏼
Can i just say a big thank you to Larry and Dino for bringing RWB into my life. If it was for you two i honestly don't think i'd be typing this now (if you catch my drift), as back when you first covered RWB in SpeedHunters, i was at my lowest point in my life and remember stumbling over this feature with Hooters (Adriana) and having something to take my mind off everything.
Hagerty thanks for bringing the alternative content. I would love to have a 997.
Love the RWB Poster, thx again Larry!
Talk about truly living your dream life. Jealous of Nakai and Larry. Love the your videos!!!
I will always love these cars. They are truly special
This was really awesome and refreshing - thanks

Love the RWB's!and i love how Nakai works on his art!
I bought Hagerty insurance for my cars just because they support people like Larry Chen and cars like RWB. Love being a part of this culture. Keep up the great work!
I love this dudes style!!! What a bad ass!!!
ポルシェの事は全くわかりません。86の頃の中井さん知ってます。応援してます。respect!
The spoiler reminds me of the one on the 964 Turbo S Leichtbau. Love that little nod
This is a hard working man that’s love the ART of CARS if you don’t get it you just won’t
I love how he keeps it real with his "method to the madness" style garage instead of building this clean and sterile (basically souless) facility.
Its awesome those vending machines drinks are hot. Jogging to the Nissan factory and touring the engine museum is one of my favorite memory’s so far! Nice video
Thanks Larry!
What a great episode. Makes me want one!
All japanese tuners are legendary AF
Good coverage..Dude is so humble..🏁👍🏽
The video I've been waiting for, I sure miss coming to RWB
Loving the series Larry, I could never think about doing a widebody on one of my Porches, but if I did it would have to be RWB for sure, Rj in Oz
Hi Larry, thanks for this, my Son and I got to know Nakai from the builds here in the Vancouver area. 😎👍🇨🇦
Holy crap, I love RWB, but to see Dino in this video! He's one of my favorite Speedhunters members, what a pleasant surprise. Awesome video
PS: I love your articles too, Larry lol
Nikai is definitely a Porsche artist. He truly created a brand.
It's aftermarket and nothing more... 🚮
No words great content
This was a great episode!
Legend! Love going to HQ, hope to join Idlers this year!
Enjoyed the video! Showcasing Nakai-sans silver 997 will open up a whole new generation of RWB builds that the average Porsche owner can now afford.
That blue Econoline van @2:00 is calling my name 🤤
Mannn I’ve never even heard him speak until today good stuff!!!
I am not a Porsche guy but wow this guy has done amazing work . Turned me into a fan of his Porsche .
Nakai is literally one of the two reasons I love Porsches
Dino and larry are legends in my book.

One thing has changed, Nakai’s English is considerably better.
