R.I.P. the great Leonard Hubbard🙏
I will never ever EVER get tired of this song
Christian Riopel right. It is timeless and immortal. It will never get boring or go out of style.
Same Here!!!
Word up
NEVER
Christian Riopel 👌
The most underrated group ever. HipHop hall of fame for sure.
Exactly
can everybody stop using word underrated? If you think Roots are underrated, you dont know hip hop
@@kostaminin9957 Exactly. People saying that because they think it makes them sound cool.
Their rating is fine. Radio only promote pop. Not real Hip Hop. The ones who know have been screaming this from the beginning
@@kostaminin9957 - Yes!! Thank you. Drives me crazy too. I see the word used constantly in comment sections for bands & musicians, most of whom are insanely popular and have been around for numerous decades yet to those few idiots somehow they're "so underrated". Gimme a break. 🙄 Only underrated to *you* if you've been living under a rock or just discovered the band/musician like 5 seconds ago. Please just stop, it's nauseating and makes you sound like a pretentious jackass.
R.I.P. Leonard 'HUB' Hubbard on the bass... one of the greatest bassists of all time!! 🖤🙏🕊
I ❤ him
Hub passed away?
@dsewellga Sadly at the end of 2021. He had cancer. May he journey well on wings of angels🕊 🕊🕊❤❤❤❤
I never get tired of The Roots/Things Fall Apart.
I’ve listened to this song like 56 times this week and I’m still not sick of it!
This album - Adrenaline …..
Play it several times a day, put it on repeat and let it rolllllllllll🔥🔥🔥🔥💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾

_...and 100% Dundee!_ 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I still will never understand how they learned to play upside-down
They don't make groups like this anymore. One of a kind.
ot exactly the same but check out ArtOfficial, it also has a Jazz Hip-Hop vibe
yes they do, Lil Yachty + Sailing team
nope
"they" Never made a group as good as the Roots... #Philly
Kenny Ridge Jurassic 5?
STILL JAMMIN TO THIS BEAUTIFUL MUSIC JULY 30, 2023"!!
BLACK THOUGHT iz one of MY top 10 emceez.
The kinda music that hit the soul then and you still feel it to date. Timeless
Back when music was timeless
The Roots are as pure as Hip Hop gets.
EXACTLY!!!
Music like this doesn't get old.
That's right... all the greatest music is timeless!
"1999. We're getting together, a bunch of guys are going to Munich for "The Roots" concert. After the concert, straight to Berlin to buy two Technics SL-1200 mk2" What time.. Greatings from Latvia! 🇱🇻
One of the most extraordinary, and innovative groups out there.
fashlite exactly along with Wu-Tang.
The Roots have some of the greatest music videos in hip-hop
DOOM facts!!! Not one lie detected
Late reply but ATLiens is amazing 😍
Same with Pharsyde, Beastie Boys and Wu Tang Clan.
2020 how many people feeling this ❤ music
we got the hot hot music
Wet hot box
how could you not!!!
Right here
Everyone in the universe man
One of the best hip hop albums ever created. Black Thought can't be touched.
Even now in 2021.. I bet a lot people feeling vibes on this track!
yup, August 23/ 2021
Absolutely
Spazzing like crazy
Yessss Sirrrrr🔥🔥🔥
The entire album
_"Things Fall Apart",_ get that its a dope album.
From Track 1 to the hidden track. It’s in my Top 5 favorite albums ever. Near flawless.
I was a high school student when this came out. I had no idea what a golden era i was living in and i naively thought it would last forever. Nonstop top level rap would drop every month, this was just "very good" then, but now it would be the greatest of all time! We were so spoiled and didn't even know it.
One of the greatest beats in Hip Hop history
If not the greatest
Bassline is so butter. Cymbal crashes perfectly accent.
DJ Jazzy Jeff on the cuts. Classic.
Alhamdullah
You need to buy their CDs and stop rewinding this
Can't I do both?
I did when it first came out somebody got me for it but nobody knows who yeah right
i dunno, i guess nowadays they make money from youtube views too, but yeah, buying an artists's cd is more respectfull:)
They stole mine in 2005
Lol 😭 I have all of their albums🙌🏽
This stays in rotation hip-hop
As a kid with zero understanding of rap I knew there was something deep about this track. It took me years to realize what it meant.
What DOES it mean tho?
The Legendary Roots Crew has their own lane.
Agreed.
Kevs Stream they're in their own league really.
nah, they're good tho
wu-tang and d.i.t.c are probably better
4Real💯💯
Ya head is bobbin and I ain't said shit yet
cmrtscherer how the fuck I read that in the exact time thought spit
right?
he says throbbin tho
Back when deejay scratching and mixing was part of the song!
REST IN PARADISE BASS MAN
One of the illest songs I've ever heard!
Nobody has this Flow My Favorite Rapper of All-Time Black Thought .... Him and Nas
I have always said the same thing. Black
thought is the best and nas number 2. Everyone else can fight for the rest
Big L is probably my favorite, Danger zone and the big picture are such dope albums. It's like an onslaught of punchlines. He has a song with Tupac and another with Jay z at his prime. He was on another level. Nas is ight. However, aside from illmatic his other albums are ehh. Kinda like eminem, after his SSLP and MMLP it was all down hill from there. Rakim deserves respect, after paid in full dropped it literally did change hip hop and added complexity. Dudes like pun, krs one, wu tang(nearly any member) MF DOOM, etc outshine him
Az the next level
I'll never stop loving this song.
RIP Malik Abdul Baset
You could listen to this song so many times and NEVER get tired of it! 1 of my favorite songs by them!
I've watched this video for years and only now noticed @ 3:18 the burlesque dancer on the right busting her ass while pulling back the curtain lmao.
Playing it rn...
2024, WHERE YALL AT?
Was 12yo listening to this lol 😆 never gets old bumping in the Benz
1999 classic. Philly strong!
The roots are a staple in in "rap" if you will. The talent they display is like none other. The lyrics are incredible. The live jam music, you can't beat it. I wish other so called rappers could quit copying each other and make real music like this. Thank you to The Roots. They helped me through Iraq years ago and they continue to to help me through my life.
FOR THOSE THAT DONT KNOW THIS IS THE GREATEST RAPPER TO COME FROM PHILLY
This is what I call real music, not just Hip-Hop. Not that fake mumble rappers, who all sound the same.
Mad respect from Russia.
Love the video, btw. Love its simple idea and perfect realization. My favourite moment is on 2:30, when Black Thought says "Freeze!" and everybody put their hands on the wall like it's police search.
Да братан, это просто улёт. The ROOTS are GODS.
Russians speaking English is ..funny to me.
True hip hop head, mad respect ✊
Stop talking shit on mumble rappers. Jazz rappers did it, it was called skatting. James brown did the same thing, so did Bone Thugs. If you want to talk about “real music” know your history and know that every generation has their thing that is influential to their era that the previous era called “noise”. Don’t become your parents/grandparents...sincerely, an 80s baby.
@@biglex42 Who gives a shit?
who's listening in 2020, the next movement.
Me
This was a banger in 99 and still is
they are so good! glad i grew up in the era of pure hip hop
saw the roots in person while attending university of florida. they came out and yelled that they couldn't smell any weed. so the whole outdoor venue lit up and i smoked a blunt standing right next to a cop. consider me a lifelong fan sirs
Some songs are just timeless... In my youth... In my adult... In my old age, I'll still be banging this number

one of the best hip hop songs of all time. The beat is 🔥🔥🔥
This is True HIP HOP Listening 2024 from Kenya!!!!
The true beauty of the Roots is that they deliver the excitement of intelligent, compelling hip-hop AND the excitement of a great live band.
I used to love this video when I was a kid.

Admit it... You still love 😍 it!

Still as dope as I heard this track when I was a kid
"the dalai lama of the mic the prime minister thought"
This album changed my life. I was in a bad place back in '99, since then I've broken out and made a life for myself and my loved ones. Listening to music that didn't speak about the superficial things, helps clear the way for real thoughts. Love this album and thanks to the Roots.
Man I love this track, gives me that extra spring in my step.
This music is timeless!
Never will i ever skip a moment to listen to this gem.
It sounds like Mos Def could really spit in this one
Common could spit on this one too.
Ken Belangel he would do a great job

In modern times, I think Kendrick Lamar would be great.
He's on "Double Trouble" it's on this album.

The hip-hop I fell in love with!
😁It's 2022 and now I'm introducing my kids to this hot music because it's the Next Movement ✊🏿💥💯
The upside down shot always kills me when Questlove just casually loses one of his cymbals and keeps on drumming 😂
simplicity and creativity was fully demonstrated in this video, great track also
Rip: Malik B.❤🙏🏾
Song done, head still bobbin. dang i miss real hip hop
Agreed.
Same here
naw
Yeah me to, really flowing through this one.
Great beat, true hip hop.
I'm 32, I got into these guys in high school. Drawn by musicians that could actually play and lyricists that made you feel things. Definitely a classic group.
Everyone about this song is so silky smooth, effortlessly cool.
The way it’s starts; yes y’all you are not listening to the sound of the legendary foundation
I love how he was sliding them big daddy Kane bars in the mix of his verses!!! classic
Robin Washington RIGHT 👏💯
RIP MALIK B!!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Dad listened to this song all the time.
Now I can't stop
This is real hip hop when it was hip hop music 🎼 we need more of this.
that snare is delicious
right!
Snares are cool but those cymbals are killing it. Try playing it on a high end system with all the bells and whistles and those highs are not only delicious but intoxicating. I crank that EQ up on those highs and I am in heaven. Cymbals= highs RULES and win every time .
Hopefully you mean cymbals.
Certainly agree with everything else though
Adrian B. YES I did and thanks for the correction without trying to put me down on my spelling
death grippinnnnnnnn
My favorite song from these guys
rahzel having a good time in this
I was a little kid when this dropped yo I fell in love with music ! My dad was driving the source truck at the time a lot of y’all ain’t hip to that .
These guys will allways have a place in my heart!
I heard The Roots live in Skopje, and I must say, that was my best day in life... They're amazing as live performers... And when they play this song i was in heaven... BIG UP FOR THE LEGENDARY ROOTS CREW!!!
Stetsasonic was the original hip-hop band but the Roots took it to another level
I remember hearing this in the car back in 99 with my family on the way to south jersey where we from. Shout out to illadelp I love y’all fr
Yeah...The Roots are super live but this video is straight butter.
One of the best tracks 2019 was here tho
Going into 2024 and BEYOND with this one LOUD
This is real hip hop
