Still riding loud in my car to this tune, Still taking long shower to this tune, Still cooking to this tune, Still chillin', puffin and griding to tis tune in 2019...
It's crazy how this video defines a certain time of hip hop, Thought (I love how he is dressed in it btw), Badu, Common, the nod to Elysée Montmartre, the best concert venue in Paris. Back then soulquarians were the definition of good taste in hip hop, they were producing for everyone, D'Angelo had released Voodoo, Dilla was still alive, Hip hop shows were still pure raw good energy. I miss these beautiful times...
This has been one of my favorite songs for over a decade. When those drums kick in at 3:35, just takes the song to another level. So sweet it makes you wanna cry.
The melody brings memories back…feels like crying in the world where we are all lost…open eyes still closed…somebody lost someone…crying in the corner where nobody sees you…how this melody breaks me down…each time…but somehow it gives me hope like you…reading this still…just remember people are in much worse place you are in…the grass never has been greener on the other side…be patient…you got me…peace

Damn that’s hell to to be that lonely not another soul congregate with
Thank you for the explanation
I’m glad I didn’t go my whole life without discovering the roots. What a blessing to be here.
When I tell you this was one of my favorite songs as teenager!!!! Those were days when I use to be watching music videos on music channels. It is still one of my favorite songs of ALL times!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I'm from the island o Trinidad 🇹🇹
I'm thankful for TH-cam because not only do I LOVE music 🎼🎶 but I love watching the videos!!
Philly is underrated af man, we got a great city over here. Come over and see the brotherly love
+foxking39 O_o Zazen Zach Best RePLY AWARD
weak mill
+foxking39 or catch some brotherly slugs.
+foxking39 Some parts of Philly are great, like the city, but most of Philly is very skeptical
+Zazen Zach Only sus bouls get caught slippin, just chill and don't be an idiot and you'll be good.
I truly miss this type of hip hop when music had actual talent and made you feel it whether you like it or not
Nowadays it's palookasm
Me too on everything......
It's still here
@Hermit Absolutely not. Whatever music is on now and has been played the past 5 to 8 years is beyond garbage
@@geomag527 I can name tons of rappers out today that are as good as this.
Still riding loud in my car to this tune,
Still taking long shower to this tune,
Still cooking to this tune,
Still chillin', puffin and griding to tis tune in 2019...
Mizz Vii thanks
Yup
💯🔥 MzVilli
Long shower u say??
Truth, Truth, Truth ❤👌💯
This song was a mood then and still holds the same weight today!
Me TOO
This song still bangs out even in 2016. Being born in the 80s it's hard for me to get down with contemporary hip hop.
Word!
Even born in 98 its hard for me to get down with hip hol nowdays man..
+TheBigGianTz check out King Yaiqab "Don't Do Me Like This" a powerful message we all need to hear and understand. Peace!!
+Dewayne Thomas i just checked it out! Thanks for sharing this great song, peace on you man!
This has been one of my favorite songs for over a decade. When those drums kick in at 3:35, just takes the song to another level. So sweet it makes you wanna cry.
The drop in drums and video is excellent
That’s when I turn it off
As a learning drummer it’s one of the most fun parts of the song
@@Joop175 You weak
Just read a tweet from Quest that part was influenced from their time in London and Jungle scene over there ;)
Quest is on a whole other level musically, the drums on this track are fucking impeccable
🔥👏🔥
Y'all shown no love for Eve on this track. She deserves more recognition she is a talented rapper

Why is Eve not listed???
Erykah Badu is so beautiful
Steve Weiner Facts
Yes,she is !
It’s b pity she’s a vegan
was crazy in love with her back in the day
That's a Ghanaian name
Erica Badu's vocals are absolutely intoxicating.
Can’t get songs like this for nothing no more😢
The "neo-soul" sound from around 1995-2002 will be remembered as possibly the last era of good black music.
work work
well put
amen
i really hope not
jaydarl2
Erykah Badu has the voice of an angel, so beautiful.
Truly an angel. th-cam.com/video/vxlwnsH4hgk/w-d-xo.html
Nice beat like her headdress in sixties it was reggae this is great
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Badu look more beautiful than in this video, absolute goddess.
Black Thought starts rappin and he's the finest man alive, every time
The melody brings memories back…feels like crying in the world where we are all lost…open eyes still closed…somebody lost someone…crying in the corner where nobody sees you…how this melody breaks me down…each time…but somehow it gives me hope like you…reading this still…just remember people are in much worse place you are in…the grass never has been greener on the other side…be patient…you got me…peace

Thank you for this.

Some of Philly’s finest on the same track. Still bumping in 2024 and beyond
my broken heart brought me here, trying to find light in the dark
+Fernando Mendoza same here... :/
she/he (not judging) didn't know good taste. if you're broken heart brought you here...damn... you are a person of good taste
Praying for you. I've dealt with a broken heart before...
+Fernando Mendoza Hope you're doing better.
R u doing better now homie?
This song dope...that drum solo at the end...priceless🔥🔥
Chanda Wood it’s everything. Quest is a genius.

Naruto Classic's Quest love is on the drums right? So I meant Quest Love.
That's the main reason to be here for #QuestLove
I swear I bop my head extra hard to the drum solo. Quest Love has magical skills
This right here is called grown folks music I'm proud to be born and raised in this era

What a masterpiece. A modern Classic.
I still can't believe it's been 17 years since this song came out, I'm getting old lol
Still timeless classic. Whens the last time you heard something this dynamic on the radio....
I feel you though... listened to this song over my first drink in high school lol
Yeah I was fucking 10-11...couldnt relate but i knew good music when I heard it. Now the message of the song and the video really hits home.
+Saved By Plants love the name you use..
BiggRod ATL Me, too...
I get chills listening to this, the epitome of what hip hop/rap is about!
Amen.. this shit hits on a new level every time. Headphones set it off
Yessss
Yesssss sirrr straight chills and smiles 😁❤
Eve n Erika killed this!👏👏💥💥🎶✌
I still don't think he get enough credit for his flow...
yeah that boy raw.
he really don't. Black Thought is that dude frfr
I agree! Just saw them live a few hours ago, he didn't miss a syllable. I really think he could end up as one of the GOATS. The longevity of his band helps, sure. But his development throughout their (immense) catalog is unmatched.
I still like this shit as in 2016
Rudy He is a GOAT already
Undeniable classic one of the best hip hop records ever
