As a child I watched this video and never understood the metaphorical imagery. Ms. Jackson rides outside the home with a look of disgust. Meanwhile the boys greet and wave despite the negative attention. They are also doing great things to make the house a home. BIG BOI is waxing his car out front and Andre is putting up wallpaper. (Look how often the wall paper came down but he never gave up). The unpredicted weather rolls in and the beautiful wax job just blew up in his face. The storm comes with heavy rain. Andre is inside trying to catch every drop to save the house. BIG BOI is on the roof making repairs. In the end the roof caves in. Nothing they ever did was good enough to make the house a home but there is always light even in the darkest of times as shown in the very end when they are gazing through the open roof. I love you Outkast. The song and video is real art. If anyone had a different perspective of the video please share.
Outcast was really good at having catchy songs about deep shit. Having you singing about custody battles, staying together for the kids (hey ya) and all that while you jamming not realizing it at all
The metaphor in the video was soo real. A man doing everything to keep the roof up and the home going although nothing seems like it enough and at the end for the roof to cave only to find that in the mist of it all there’s true happiness by letting things go (hence sun shining through + him smiling) Real situation.

Okay I’ve always loved this song I’ve never seen the video but, this is a masterpiece. I remember I was in the 10th grade when this came out. One of my favorite teachers my tenth grade year was Ms Jackson. This song is all that she would hear from students all day long. Sang it for her so much that she ended up liking the song.
If you listen to the lyrics more in depth, the song is about getting the wrong woman pregnant. Failed relationships. Jealousy. Infidelity. All of that, yet Big Boi and Andre 3000 came through and delivered a masterpiece.
Ed R in Speakerboxx album he talks about this same woman and about how he is just trying to be there for his kids but she always causing drama. how his Daughter doesn't want him at PTA meeting at the same time as her mom because she starts drama and how they can't be together
dntkhv theres plenty of opportunity for these old school songs to come back to this generation but it just isn’t where the money is at.. it’s all wavey auto tune songs now.
You kinda have to dig beyond the mainstream. The number of musicians that exist is nearly unfathomable so realistically it'd be near impossible to find nothing influenced by Outkast in this modern age. Primarily I listen to extreme metal and hardcore so admittedly hip hop is not my forte but I'm sure theres stuff out there.
Every time I hear this song, I get this sudden wave of sadness, it’s so nostalgic, and it reminds me of when this use to come on the radio when I was a little girl.
@@KoRNk1LLz i wonder where the original early promo video to this, they must of shot the video twice at least because i remember the video so well in early 2000s it all done mainly at night time, more rain, hardly never day time (until the end) or this bright. now we seeing the start bright and end dark, no, it was so dark at the start and finished bright.

Forever never seems that long until you're grown And notice that the day by day ruler can't be too wrong Ms. Jackson my intentions were good I wish I could Become a magician to abacadabra all the sadder Thoughts of me, thoughts of she, thoughts of he Asking what happened to the feeling that her and me Had, I pray so much about it need some knee, pads It happened for a reason one can't be, mad So know this, know that everything's cool And yes I will be present on the first day of school, and graduation I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (oh), I am for real Never meant to make your daughter cry I apologize a trillion times I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (oh), I am for real Never meant to make your daughter cry I apologize a trillion times Uh, uh, yeah "Look at the way he treats me" Shit, look at the way you treat me You see your little nosy-ass home girls Done got your ass sent up the creek G Without a paddle, you left to straddle And ride this thing on out Now you and your girl ain't speaking no more Cause my dick all in her mouth Know what I'm talking about? Jealousy, infidelity, envy Cheating to beating, envy and to the G they be the same thing So who you placing the blame on, you keep on singing the same song Let bygones be bygones, you can go on and get the hell on You and your mama I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (oh), I am for real Never meant to make your daughter cry I apologize a trillion times I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (oh), I am for real Never meant to make your daughter cry I apologize a trillion times I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (oh), I am for real Never meant to make your daughter cry I apologize a trillion times I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (oh), I am for real Never meant to make your daughter cry I apologize a trillion times

Bruh and I’m so glad that we have the internet, gems like this will forever be remembered. Imagine how much good music we lost from thousands of years ago when it was in the hands of very few people deciding what was kept and what wasn’t.
Shouldn't disrespect a timeless classic on this level by calling it anything only young lamers call a "banger", hoping that slang description will trend nearly as long as this song did in just it's first year. This is forever cool music, bruh.
@@slingeroftruth “cool” was what “banger” is today decades ago. Slang don’t just fall out of fashion but they usually just get normalised into language. Why are you so salty about a word?

It’s kinda sad that there will never be music like this ever again
dntkhv theres plenty of opportunity for these old school songs to come back to this generation but it just isn’t where the money is at.. it’s all wavey auto tune songs now.
There’s lots of music like this, it’s just not mainstream
I make music like this spotify "spiff t"
DNT KHV ikr, kids nowadays have no idea what real music is. This generation we are in is messed up. And it’s not how it use to be. 😣

Every time I hear this song, I get this sudden wave of sadness, it’s so nostalgic, and it reminds me of when this use to come on the radio when I was a little girl.
Miss those days. 2006/2007/2008

Me too
I hear you they don't play good music on the radio anymore miss those days when all stations were playing hits
@@SystemBlocked94 frr. Songs now and days don’t hit the same like they use to.
This song deserves a lifetime award. It will always be a nostalgic memory.
I bet this is the primary song that has reliably just stuck for the 90s kids... like the majority of them.
Where is the original video to this it was night time start before and it rained more .
Same
@@KoRNk1LLz i wonder where the original early promo video to this, they must of shot the video twice at least because i remember the video so well in early 2000s it all done mainly at night time, more rain, hardly never day time (until the end) or this bright. now we seeing the start bright and end dark, no, it was so dark at the start and finished bright.

Lyrics:
Yeah this one right here goes out to all the baby's mamas, mamas
Mamas, mamas, baby mamas, mamas
Yeah, go like this
I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (oh), I am for real
Never meant to make your daughter cry
I apologize a trillion times
I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (oh), I am for real
Never meant to make your daughter cry
I apologize a trillion times
My baby's drama mama, don't like me
She be doing things like having them boys come from her neighborhood
To the studio trying to fight me
She need to get a, piece of the american pie and take her bite out
That's my house, I'll disconnect the cable and turn the lights out
And let her know her grandchild is a baby, and not a paycheck
Private school, daycare, shit medical bills I pay that
I love your mom and everything, but see I ain't the one who laid down
She wanna rib you up to start a custody war, my lawyers stay down
Shit you never got a chance to hear my side of the story we was divided
She had fish fries and cookouts for my child's birthday I ain't invited
Despite it, I show her the utmost respect when I fall through
All you, do is defend that lady when I call you, yeah
I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (oh), I am for real
Never meant to make your daughter cry
I apologize a trillion times
I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (oh), I am for real
Never meant to make your daughter cry
I apologize a trillion times
Me and yo' daughter, got's this thing going on
(We got a special kind of thing going on)
You say it's puppy love
We say it's full grown
Hope that we feel this, feel this way forever
You can plan a pretty picnic
But you can't predict the weather, Ms. Jackson
Ten times out of nine, now if I'm lyin' fine
The quickest muzzle throw it on my mouth and I'll decline
King meets queen, then the puppy love thing, together dream
Bout that crib with the Goodyear swing
On the oak tree, I hope we feel like this forever
Forever, forever, ever, forever, ever?
Forever never seems that long until you're grown
And notice that the day by day ruler can't be too wrong
Ms. Jackson my intentions were good I wish I could
Become a magician to abacadabra all the sadder
Thoughts of me, thoughts of she, thoughts of he
Asking what happened to the feeling that her and me
Had, I pray so much about it need some knee, pads
It happened for a reason one can't be, mad
So know this, know that everything's cool
And yes I will be present on the first day of school, and graduation
I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (oh), I am for real
Never meant to make your daughter cry
I apologize a trillion times
I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (oh), I am for real
Never meant to make your daughter cry
I apologize a trillion times
Uh, uh, yeah
"Look at the way he treats me"
Shit, look at the way you treat me
You see your little nosy-ass home girls
Done got your ass sent up the creek G
Without a paddle, you left to straddle
And ride this thing on out
Now you and your girl ain't speaking no more
Cause my dick all in her mouth
Know what I'm talking about? Jealousy, infidelity, envy
Cheating to beating, envy and to the G they be the same thing
So who you placing the blame on, you keep on singing the same song
Let bygones be bygones, you can go on and get the hell on
You and your mama
I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (oh), I am for real
Never meant to make your daughter cry
I apologize a trillion times
I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (oh), I am for real
Never meant to make your daughter cry
I apologize a trillion times
I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (oh), I am for real
Never meant to make your daughter cry
I apologize a trillion times
I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (oh), I am for real
Never meant to make your daughter cry
I apologize a trillion times

A timeless banger. For all times and always.

Outkast songs never get old
It hurts me to hear Andre 3000 say he doesn’t feel he is relevant or important anymore , his music will and will always be an important part of hip hop , it’s 2020 , and I’m still bumping this while cleaning my room on a rainy day , “the south will and will always have something to say !”🔥💯❤️💪🏾🙏🏾

This track is so legendary!!! No one can beat the early 2000's music!!!
Ofc. No other song. 2000s songs and older songs

But OutKast were great.. meandering in a maze of present day hip hop mediocrity.
