You remind me of my cousin's husband who said he did not like cats, but put discarded chairs with blankets or towels in his workshop for the outside cats so they could keep warm and made sure all the cats were fed and his favorite cat was accounted for and safe before he went to work. Several years later he admitted he liked cats.
That's not a cat person. A cat person is one that, if forced to live alone with just a single creature for company, would pick a cat. If he'd be forced to make such a decision, my money's on Toby, not on Lil cat.
Your cousin's husband sounds similar to my Mother. She always claimed to be a dog fan (always had one growing up) however it was nothing for her to ensure the stray cats in the neighbourhood, were all well fed no matter the season. Also recall her providing a bedded wooden crate on our back porch for one that was expecting which gave birth to its litter in it BUT still according to her 'she didn't like cats'. :)

When spring comes, and it's warm, I bet Lil' will be okay going outside again -even if it's just to be an indoor-outdoor cat, I think that's what she'd want.

@@thegardenofeatin5965 Lots of people would say he is good because he has barn access, but giving him the tipi is excellent.
This is actually a really good thing to have. It keeps him from climbing up into a warm car engine. Three of my "barn cats" ended up with some bad accidents from getting into the fan area of the car engine....thankfully all three survived their run ins, but there was broken feet, jaws and a de-gloved hip we had to deal with to the tune of several hundred dollars at the vets. Give your outdoor cat a reliable warmed area to sleep to help keep them close to the house and out of car engines.

My uncle Melv(in) would be laughing in his grave. His barn cats were barn cats, and the heat as far as I know they had, was from the straw and each other. Not saying that Pablo's heated house is wrong - just that times have changed.

If you want to bring a little of the outside in for lil, maybe look into building a catio for her. Won't replace outdoors, but a good alternative.

Some of the scenes of Lil by the fire were so sweet and heart melting. By the way, if I have any typos, it is because I have a sick cat sleeping on my chest, and I have to keep my arms very still so that I don’t disturb the cat. I am sure that you understand. You remind me of a young version of my late husband. He had bad allergies and was not a cat person either. However if I got up early, I would find sitting on the couch studying his Bible with between 3 and 5 cats draped all over him. It was sweet. He had a good and tender heart like you do.
We had a house rule that if it was time to refill our drinks or answer the door, what ever chore it was, who ever did not have a cat sleeping on them, was the one who had to get and do it, because the other person could not move or they might disturb a cat, and that was just not done. We were very well trained people.
Personally I think that Douglas Adams had the wrong conclusion in his book, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to The Galaxy, it’s the cats who rule the Galaxy. Definitely the cats!
Or get her acclimated to a harness and she can have controlled outside time!

I had a cat who had her pelvis shattered, having been hit by a car too.
She survived 9 years afterwards, even relearning how to walk, run and jump.
The vet smoothed down the fractured bones too. However, we lost her this past May. Sometime during the night, she'd jumped off a talk bookshelf, landed wrong and punctured an organ.
I found her the next morning after she'd passed. I think she went quickly, as she was at the base of the bookshelf, never moving from where she landed.
I wish I would have been there to stop her from jumping, as I usually did. But it being the middle of the night, was asleep, and wasn't able to help her. I still feel horrible thinking about it. She was such a good little girl.
I love cats, and am quite allergic to them. They are my "family" since my fiancee was killed. They help keep me amused and company. Fur People Forever!
I think she sees the basement as her new "outdoors/wild" time.

Pet allergies are usually the easiest to deal with as, unlike with many other allergies, exposure can lessen the symptoms overtime and sometimes that exposure will cause the allergy to go away completely.

It was very kind of the neighbor to say something. I would have rather known if something happened to my pet rather than extra days of anxiousness and searching for them. Luckily it turned out alright for Lil.
I hit a dog once, still a horrible memory for me. It was dark, and I was in a strange town but I went door-to-door until I found the owners. I cried harder than they did.
A lot of respect to that neighbor.
I remember having to tell a neighbour that my dog attacked one of their chickens. Luckily the chicken survived but I felt horrible.

After almost loosing it all, lil’ being baked by the fire is so wholesome. It really is the simple pleasures in life like being warmed by the cozy fire.
Six months ago Lil dragged herself back to you despite a shattered pelvis and ruptured bladder. And now she’s enjoying safety, comfort, love, food, entertainment, and physical therapy on tap. Bravo to all of you.

i wonder if being by the fire helps her with the ache winter brings. i've broke my left wrist twice and in the winter it aches so badly but being warm helps.
Having broken bones definitely leads to arthritis at the breaks. Just because Lil can run, jump and play doesn't mean that she's not in some amount of pain.
I broke my pinky and used to have pain once in a while. A few years later I learned about muscle knots and adhesions that occurs after an injury and I did deep tissue massage for a few months and the pain went away. When I broke my hand, I got it massaged for a few weeks and I don't have any pain at all. Consider massaging all the sore spots to break up any adhesions and muscle knots that cause pain.

I know my mom during the summertime her bones feel way better than the cold she’s always complaining that they just ache sometimes the cold can make our bodies work a little harder. I would tell you to try to rub some CBD lotion on it and try a heating pad

When my parents visited a vineyard in New Zealand in winter, they saw the extent to which cats will cook themselves. They noticed two wet cats in front of the fireplace, nothing wrong with that, except for the fact that the cats were lightly steaming, and there was the distinct smell of burnt hair. When one of them went to say hi to the cats, they couldn’t even get close. Then, when one of the cats did come over they said it was too hot to touch for the first minute. Moral of the story, cats will COOK themselves
Our house cats were once Sahara desert dwellers. I've seen cats in the rafters above a forge.
My mother's cat lot herself on fire with a heater during winter and didn't care her tail was on fire. She was purring

"Non cat people" just haven't met the right cat yet. My "I'm a dog guy" is drinking tea right now under a blanket, recovering from pneumonia. There are 2 dogs and three cats in here too. The biggest cat on his lap. 6'7" man was no match for an 18lb tabby that looks like Lil Barn Cat, xxl edition.
Glad she has done so well after such an awful event. I had the same experience years ago with a much beloved cat but wasn't so lucky. We do have woodstove cats on our farm (and a woodstove Frenchie) and it makes winter that much better.
But Lil deserves a saucer for her supper! :) or at least a cute cat food bowl. It's Christmas.... ;)

Absolutely great and loving video! I didn’t know everything that had happened so, glad you told Lil Barn Cat’s whole story!
I have a rescue who was born in back of my washing machine to his feral mom. He and his mom never had much to do with me and I was still working 12 hour shifts at the time and, therefore, didn’t spend much time at home, due to sleeping during the day. When I retired, he was 6 years old and became deathly ill just shortly after I quit working. Spent 6 days in kitty ICU and came home. Diagnosed with diabetes, he required quite a bit of care in the beginning. To make a long story short, he’s now 14 and is thriving! Not only are we bffs, but he returns my love with head butts when I ask for “meow kisses”. It’s amazing how animals can adapt and show that YOU DO make a difference in their lives! He gets insulin injections twice a day and comes when I tell him it’s medication time. Not surprising since he’s food motivated! Lol! His name is Ticker (because he was born with and still has a heart murmur) and he’s my friend!
Keep your sweet cuddly girl in the house. It’s the best and safest place for her!

Yes! She is so happy as an inside cat, and loves the fireplace! It's so funny watching her bask and roll in front of it. SO glad she lived! But your other outside cat is lonely! Maybe you can let him in occasionally...or get at least one other cat for outside...not a kitten, but maybe a rescue if there is one anywhere near you...or ask your vet to keep an eye out for one...maybe about a year old or so?
That beginning quote is so true. When I saw the original video, just cried thinking of Lil out there suffering, the fact she made it through 2 days with her injuries & got back to her home just shows how strong inside & out she is. So glad she got great care & healed mostly.🤗❤🐾🐈

So glad Lil is doing so much better and adjusting. Great storytelling in this video Morgan. We actually just rescued a sick barn kitten, brought her ba k to health and are now adopting her as a barn cat in training. I need her to take care of a rat in our barn lol. Lil’s story is incredible though.
What a sweet story! I'm so happy to see Lil has recovered what seems to be 90%+ from her injuries. It's also good to see that Pablo has his own heated shelter out on the porch! When summer arrives, It'll be interesting to see if Lil misses being outside more than she does during winter :)

Awesome video! I shattered my pelvis in a car accident when I was a kid and had a hip replacement some years later. From watching her jump around and play I can tell you with confidence she is not in pain. That's an amazing recovery I'm so glad she made it!
So you should watch Jackson Galaxy, The Cat Daddy. He’s the best when it comes to cats and is absolutely ingenious when it comes to raising indoor cats.

I have seen so many owners of barn cats and farm dogs who will put their pet to sleep at the first sign of illnesses, so good on you for putting in all that effort.
I got my answer about Lil the Barn Cat (who became a house cat)... thank you for loving her and giving her a safe indoor home. Hopefully your allergies have eased up a bit. After a certain amount of time people can actually become immune (it varies with each individual). She's a keeper! 💗

Omg I have a few things to say about this vid. THIS IS AMAZING! She had a shattered pelvis and ruptured blatter and still fought to get home! The excruciating pain she must've been in. To take all those days to get home just proves how must she loves and trusts you guys. That and the fact that she doesn't beg to go outside a bunch. Not saying that if an outdoor cat never wants to become an full-time indoor cat, it doesn't love you, but it really seems like she loves your guys' company and is comfortable and happy enough to give up her old life. You dealing with your allergies so she can be with you is so special. Shows the type of person you are. Maybe they'll ease up eventually? My cousin was allergic to cats, but after rescuing one off the side of a road, her symptoms are almost gone after about a year. You never know. I refuse to be called a cat person too 😂. Just a crazy ol' animal person who loves her pets that's it okay? Keep up the amazing work with the vids you're pumping out. They're so great! I can't stop binge-watching them-granted not really in order, but still. Thanks again!
