    Great tips for sweater knit sewing with serger. And, by the way, my sister bought a Vibrant serger a year or so ago and she really likes it. I'm sure the winner of this one will as well. Congratulations.

    You're a natural teacher. You're very thorough in your explanations and tips. Thank you. I'm pretty good at imagining how a pattern will work when finished. But in your example I would never have believed this unappealing pattern (IMO) would look so polished and classic looking. You choose an excellent colour and fabric weight/texture. And of course you're a very careful sewist.

    I have a red sweater knit that I have been itching to sew into something. Your videos are giving me the confidence to do it. Thank you so much for making these videos. How do you hem sweater knits?

    • @AnitabyDesign
      @AnitabyDesign  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're welcome, Lynn. The best method for hemming knits (in my opinion) is by coverstitch machine. The next best option is by twin needle. But make sure you stabilize your hem before sewing. That helps to prevent stretching.

    • @lynnleipold2617
      @lynnleipold2617 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AnitabyDesign Thanks again. Would you hem a sweater with a coverstitch?. I also knit, but when I knit a sweater, I either begin it with ribbing or I bind it off in knitting, I don’t hem it. I certainly would coverstitch a t shirt or a dress made with a flatter knit.

    Your duster turned out so beautiful! Where do you purchase the clear elastic that you use as a stabilizer? Also...do you ever use a stretch thread when you sew knits? I’m having a hard time getting my serger adjusted for knits. It’s like the thread does not have any give to it. Thanks

    • @AnitabyDesign
      @AnitabyDesign  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there. I purchase the clear elastic at my local JoAnn's Fabric store, but you can also find it on Amazon. Take a look at your sewing machine manual to see if you can find the issue in the troubleshooting area. If not, consider taking it to a repair shop to see if they know what that's happening.

    Hi Anita, I love your darling duster..
    Just wondering if you had to size down considering the conversion from woven to knit fabric? I recently made a dress from a pattern design for woven fabric( Simplicity 2917) using very stretchy fabric. I sized down 2 sizes and eliminated the back zipper.. I also added a lining using very light weight rayon Jersey. I sewed 99% of the dress including the lining on my Babylock Evolution serger.
    I absolutely love my Evolution except for one thing. The Evolution doesn't have a seam guide for overlock serging . The seam guide for the Evolution only attaches when the table is attached and the upper looper is in the down position used for chain/cover stitch only. As much as I sew, it sure would be nice to have an adjustable seam guide for overlock serging. Makes me want to run right out and purchase the Babylock Vibrant! Lol!
    Blessings and Merry Christmas 🎄☃️

    • @AnitabyDesign
      @AnitabyDesign  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Tonya! I chose the size by the finished pattern measurements and the fit I desired. I use this for all patterns I sew, whether I'm substituting fabric types or not.
      I love my Evolution too. Yes, that seam guide is a winner. Merry Christmas!

    I would like to know what you used for the stabilizing tape that stretches. Is it permanent or wash away? Is it elastic and the one you used slides under the foot easily. Most elastics appear to have a rubbery etc. and sticks under the foot or is thick.. Like your serging tip..

    • @AnitabyDesign
      @AnitabyDesign  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used clear elastic to stabilize the fabric. It's permanent and slides under my presser foot easily.

      Hi Noni! I'm so glad to hear that you like my videos. The settings will be different for fabrics based on the particular fabric. Like I mentioned in the video, I'm able to sew a lot of fabrics using the same setting on my Vibrant serger. The best thing to do is test the fabric that you plan to use to get the proper settings.I hope that helps.
