    Heres my ten cents worth; I just bought one of these and it is awesome fun. I've been into RC for about 17 years and I was looking for a RTR 4WD OFF ROAD ELECTRIC car for some Winter bashing. I narrowed my selection down this and the Maverick Strada. I definitely made the right choice. Put simply, this thing has the clearance to go fast on grass. The only change I made was to ditch the 1700nimh and drop a 3300nimh in there. Also I soldered my own connectors between the ESC and the motor. Absolutely awesome. After one run and a fully discharged pack, the can was super hot but the ESC was cool - a good sign. It's very well designed but loosely put together in places - the bottom dropped of a damper on my third run - so its worth making sure everything is done up properly. Something I haven't done yet is to check exactly how much grease is in the diffs. My next job. Everything is done with allen bolts, which is absolutely awesome. Removing the frankly pointless lexan adds about £300 to the look of the car, the roll cage looks mega and is structually important to the chassis in the same way the upper plate is on any buggy. And as my man already pointed out, everything can be upgraded at FTX.com to aluminum, with larger pinions to choose from etc. The stock 17t pinion is perfect for the stock setup. Also the pinion and spur is Tamiya mesh🤫👍🏼Its a racer and a crawler depending on your choice running gear. For the money, you won't find better.

    Very good vid, thanks for doing this, my boy and I are into our clawers was going to shell out $500+ to get him a wraith or something but he’s 5 so looking at one of these $300 from my local Rc shop so it’s cheap as I think.
    Thanks for doing these budget cars.

    I'm liking your videos! Couldn't get the 1b video to work unfortunately (probably my PC in work!).. The smoking seems quite common with that motor fitted to the Outlaw, seen a few now, perhaps a struggle with the huge tyres and what terrain it runs on. I ran mine brushed for a few weeks until the brushless gear arrived, thankfully I never experienced the smoking as I ran mine mainly on flat surfaces and offroad terrain such as small rocky stones, shale etc, wasn't as extreme as what you put it through on the course. But I like the dedication to testing from you, nice one! test until it can't no more.. I did a speed test using 3S on the stock motor (with a different brushed esc) and it notched up over 30mph using its stock 17t pinion. Then the brushless setup arrived and I decided to really push it and see what the upper speed control limits of the car were. It didn't disappoint.. Though very lairy at high speeds it reached 50mph on 23t pinion and 3S. Once I'd done that it's now back to 17t pinion and 2S (sometimes 3S) and lives offroad all the time.

    Hi, did you get round to making the video of locking the diffs, would like to know how to lock at least the rear diff, also I believe you dont have the option to set the gear mesh as the motor is locked in place is this correct?

    • @tracypanavia4634

    This is a good video. I am curious so you got this thing and started running it seeing how fast it would go...then you switched it to a lipo right away? I might be out in left field here but YOU MUST BREAK IN A BRUSHED MOTOR. You need to take it very easy on it...run a couple batteries through it WITHOUT going to full throttle. You need to get those brushes seated. If you did not do that...well that is why your motor was burning up...JUST FYI.

    • @jakehall3337
      @jakehall3337 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't be daft. The motor gets hot because its the cheapest can for the job. Its a 550 not a 540. Do you know the mechanical not physical difference? Running the brushes in isn't going to reduce the amount of heat generated🤣it never has.

    If I got the brushless version would that suffer with a smoking motor if pushed like you did in the video?
    We are just beginners and probably wouldn’t push it as much as you have done in this video.

    • @AceofAxe
      @AceofAxe  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It shouldn't, but without testing it I wouldn't say 100%. But, I am testing 2 other cars from FTX this weekend and one is brushless. So I will be posting up a full review on that one. We will see how the Brushless system does Sunday!
