    Just this week I switched to manual clutch with H-pattern shifting. Hugely improves realism and challenge. You must give some gas when you release the clutch after downshifting. Now I understand the obsession with heel-and-toe driving

      Welcome to the wondrous world of stick driving :-) Slower, but more immersive!

    One thing I love about Asseto Corsa is that just by having my Thrustmaster TH8A connected all the time. The game switches between H Pattern and paddle shifters depending on the car. I agree 100% it ads another level of immersion for me. Love it. I think Iracing does the same

    • @WromWrom

      Yeah, that's something ingrained in the Assetto Corsa's code. But AMS2 also works very well with it. You have to remember how many gears the original car had tho, as neither AC nor AMS2 recognize gear higher that that (been there, done that...)

      Good luck finding anything on Iracing even the Mazda mx5 cup is now slap shifter only, would be nice to have the option

    It's about time someone offered an update to the entry level market for H-pattern shifters. The Logitech one has been sitting uncontested for far too long so they haven't bothered to improve it at all.
    I've got the SHH Shifter because at the time I couldn't find the TH8A in stock anywhere and gambled on the SHH.
    If this had been available at the time, I would have gladly paid less and got this instead.

      Yeah, this is a nice entry level shifter that offers good immersion. And the price is quite nice too.

    Nice vid. Just one remark: on my side the TH8S shifter works perfectly with ETS2 & ATS (you just need to assign it correctly in the options of the game).

    • @WromWrom

      I don't need to assign the gears, they get assigned by the games automatically is what you are saying? OTOH I won't be able to use the 8th/16th gear ever, right?
      Thanks for the nice words!

    • @davidwild8932

      @@WromWrom You can use 8th/16th without any issues. For this: In INPUT WIZARD / SELECT H-SHIFTER LAYOUT select RANGE (and not SPLITTER or RANGE-SPLITTER) and in H-SHIFTER GEARBOX SETUP just assign one button of the wheel to SHIFTER TOOGLE: 1 & one to SHIFTER TOOGLE: 2. Enjoy!

    I wish Thrustmaster had a regular H-pattern shifter with a boot like Logitech but better. I don’t understand the need for a gated shift as it ruins the experience for 99% of cars, like are we ONLY driving 80’s Ferraris and Lambos or something?

    • @WromWrom

      I understand why controllers have them, as you don't have the gears to make resistance and "move" you in the right direction when you are shifting like in RL
      You will almost never move from 6th to 1st in a stick car 🙂
      But when it's only a click away, you may very well, ending your race.

    Is this compatible with the ThrustMaster TX Leather Edition?

    • @WromWrom

      According to Thrustmaster it's compatible with ALL their wheels on PC. For Xbox and PS4/5 you'd better check their website.

    Nice review guys 👍
    Personally, I will stick with my logitech shifter + USB adapter because it is the simplest shifter to have both sequential and H-pattern all-in-one.
    I take less then 5 secs to transform it (2 longer screws and a nice elastic does the job. I only have to put or take the elastic out!)
    But, nice to have options on this price range ;)

    • @WromWrom

      Well, this one's one H-Pattern, the TH8A is the one you can convert into sequential.

      Euhm, my SHH shifter switches in 1 or 2 seconds from manual to sequential.

      While I didn't find the right way, the shifter gets recognized. And check the comments here. @davidwild8932 reports the right way to do it.

    No hard mounting would be an issue for me

    • @WromWrom

      Understandable. This is not something this shifter has to offer - but as said, the screw/clamp holds it tight in place. Tighter than we thought possible.

    Does it support asseto corsa ultimate

    • @WromWrom

      Yes. AC recognizes it and the way AC is programmed it will automatically use it in cars that had an H-Shifter,

      It's getting pretty close in terms of simulation, but the main factor that's missing is fear.
