I've beat a couple skegs successfully with two hammers just like you did. I don't think I used heat, but annealing the aluminum is wise. Nice welding job, I need to buy a tig welder soon.
I know a man that trusted oil injection on his outboard in the early 90’s. It didn’t go well. Oil injection failed and it burnt up the engine. I don’t know if he got it repaired or just replaced it. That reinforced what my dad already decided. Just like you said, he believed only In premixing his fuel. He even mixed it a little bit oil heavy. In his mind he was protecting his investment.
The skeg isn’t curved slightly by design to counteract prop torque? I suppose 90hp is a little low for that, but my 250hp has a bend in it from the factory to reduce the steering load at high speed.
Since it has the anode adjustable skeg on it, I'm pretty sure it was straight in the 80's, I will keep my out for newer ones so I can see what you are referring to. Thanks for watching

Have a 1998 mercury has been real reliable much more so than 2013 merc 90hp 4 stroke, just did carb rebuild plan on changing thermostat and water pump rebuild next. Hey what happened to big blue was hoping you'd finish that.
I just got the same welder,looking to upgrade for a better plasma cutter.the saying is a grinder n paint makes me the welder i aint!!! Just curious how many sticks of 4056 did that tiggerdactyl have to eat to make a pile that size.?enjoyed the humour happy boating weld looks mighty fine.snooky pa.❤😂😂😂😂😂

I no a friend that works at a dealer for boats/ water crafts well they had a brand new big size jet ski well the motor blew up being it was bran new it was shipped back to the manufacturer of that jet ski well they found out it was the oil injection was not working it failed and that was new i was like WOW so the alst boat i git the first thing i did is removed that automatic oiler i will mix my gasoline and oil i know it's mixture is right every time i dont care if i go out an buy a 2025 motor today i will mix my gasoline and oil
