I regret not buying this. I was going to get the set then put them into flips and sell 6 coin sets in 2×2s for $6 each at my coin club. Well someone else thought of the idea at our club, but they wanted FOURTEEN BUCKS! I thought that was highway robbery. I'm like "nobody is going to pay that. That's an absurd price hike." Well wasn't I wrong. They ended up selling probably 20 sets. Enough to pay for 2 boxes of the rolls at least. Here I was thinking that I'd have a hard time getting $6. I should have done it myself and got people some better deals. I'm pretty fair on pricing within the club. The whole goal is to snag coins I think other people will want when I'm shopping for myself. Then I put them in 2×2s with all the information drawn in nice calligraphy in my own original lettering style/font/typeface whatever you call it, and then sell the stuff looking to make about 10-20% just to cover the time, gas, and effort. I'm lucky though because I got one of the half dollars for face value which means it can be counted as a legit coin in my "Gems of the Till" collection.

@@CADRollHunter Yeah, it's very well detailed. I just wish we had a higher relief like the old silver and nickel coins. Also with the portrait size and overall length of the legend they didn't need to really abbreviate D:G: because they picked such a nice lettering it seems a shame to waste letters. But yeah I'm quite pleased with the portrait too.

I was able to find quarters, about 15 in total from 3 different sources, where one source had about 1-2 quarters inside every other machine wrapped roll, so that means a brand new roll was torn open, then basically tossed into the machine with other coins to be rerolled. I found 1 toonie as change at Couche-Tard store, where the cashier was selling them to who wanted them but I couldn't get more than one coin... While hunting dimes, out of about 3 full boxes of customer wrapped dimes, I got only 2 lonely KC 2023s dimes that were in customer plastic wrappers, from 2 different banks, and one of these 2 rolls also had a 1968 silver dime! Dimes seem more rare than the quarters, at least in my region. I'm continuing my hunts, so we'll see how easy it is to find them. 2021 and 2022s are still everywhere, so I'm kind of bored while hunting, but I always have to hope that one of them will finally be a 2023, and I've been keeping all of them so far: they're too rare...

It'll be interesting to see the final mintage numbers when they finally come out. If they're really low, these could all end up being like the 1991 quarter. Those of us who scored rolls will be lucky!
I've found a loonie, toonie, and two nickels in the wild, but I'm still hunting for a dime and quarter! My two uncirculated sets (not rolls) still say I won't get them until the end of May! Hopefully they're worth the wait.
I noticed you missed a little secret with your Special Wrap box, a hidden compartment, if you look in the dead center of the coin rolls, you'll see a little pull tab, that lifts all the coins up as a tray and underneath the tray, a RCM COA and a mintage Serial Number can be found. I ordered my set on the day they released somehow... I think it took like 10 hours to get through. I also ordered the plastic wrapped coins and I'm still marked delayed for receiving those. So I ordered on Nov 15th and they are now saying delay till March 27th now. Really enjoy the content, cheers!
I've been watching a lot of peeps complaining about RCM delays, fortunately I was on the ball when they first announced them and rec'd my SWR set, Uncirc Set back in January.....Feeling pretty forunate now....but....I've seen a few CP locations that have had the Uncirc set on display and like you, thinking future value, snapped them up as I came across them....
I am watching you look at this set, and imagining someone 72 years ago examining some QE2 Young Heads, and thinking about how they kept the reverse of George VI. Charles looks really nice on these coins, hoping some sneak into circulation in my part of Minnesota.
I like the contemporary portrait, jacket and tie, compared some of the earlier portraits with the regalia of royalty. But then again, it might also have been cool to see one like that, too. Let us know if you snag one state-side!
@CADRollHunter I do prefer Charles this way, especially after seeing some mockup designs with crown. I feel like this is how we see him, this how he is in public, this is the right choice for the coinage. Now on currency, that could be a different opinion.
Doesn't seem right that those who ordered the single coin mint sets haven't received them yet. I got one from local P.O. on Feb.6 release date. Other outlets still have them.
I wonder what on earth the delay is? THey're not sold out, and some outlets have received them. What's the hold-up?! Obviously the coins have been minted... Strange!
A really nice commemorative set, James. It's a shame that the packaging takes up so much space. It probably be easier to store the box outside the safe, due to the extreme size of it. I am starting to see more collectors vacuum wrapping rolls due to the enders being exposed to the environment. The set can be saved at same time in a cozy plastic cocoon.

The RCM is slow to release mintages for recent coins. I too have these King Charles coin rolls and I agree with you that the 2023 mintage may be low in comparison to previous years.
It always bugs me when I look at my Charlton Catalogue and the mintages are not listed for the last several years. They'll only print figures published directly by the mint. Coinsandcanada has mintage figures for recent years that might be reliable, but may not have come directly from the Mint.
@@CADRollHunter Mintage is part of a coin's valuation and I find it hard that the mint which is highly regulated and controlled doesn't publish mintage numbers until several years after production.
I love the fact that the design hasn't changed in that long. I'll occasionally find a Swiss coin here, and I love that I have to guess if it might be new or over 100 years old!
I'm in the east, went to the post office to pick up a parcel and was told they had king charles coins recently but they didn't have them anymore. damn shame because I really wanted one I got a beautiful 2023 toonie with the coloured birds on it though, lady was kind enough to give it to me. very happy
Haha. I have cert# 93 and none of the rolls are double enders. So rare to get such a low mintage with none of the rolls being double enders. I had #94 as well but the Nickle and dime were double enders. Sold it locally for a $83 profit. No one is getting my #93 unless they offer me an amount I can't refuse.
I ordered a roll of fifties, this same king box you have, a card with queen last strikes, and im still waitong on the card of king first strikes All the rolls except the toonies have opposite enders on mine, the toonies have both side the bear, which sucks, so close I missed the fifties too, but i got them from colonial acres, they had them for the same price during pre order I think colonial acres started selling the 50s for more money than the mint after pre order, I checked the page a bunch of times and I swear it was $10 more, online that is

hello yesterday i went to a different bank and pick up80.00in nickels and some pennies that some one turn in and the best of the pennies was two 1979 double date and two 1965 large bead pointed five, on the nickels a plain 1947 and a 1939 and one 1942nickel and a nice 1964 nickel and some american cents some with double date strikes. and one 1967 nickel .Also is it worth it to save nickels from 1982to 1999.Almost have a full roll of 2000p nickels also finding more 2001p nickels with that bib under her neck and some that you can see extra piece of metal there i also save the 1991and 1997 nickels due to low mintage'

@@katpeden9255 Interesting. I'm not sure what you're referring to. I can't find any information on 2023 King Charles III in silver. The mint would sell them individually if they did. The 50 cent rolls that were sold by the mint were multi-ply plated steel and were sold for $24.95 per roll.

Interesting - I love seeing the old rolls unwrapped, watching the toned enders give way to bright red cents through the roll.
The shrink wrap rolls are great for modern stuff. Loonies and toonies rarely tone nice colours.

I live in Switzerland. No queens or kings of any circulation coin in my country. The 1 swiss franc coin has the same design since 1875.

Yes - the Mint made loonies and toonies bearing the date 2023 with Elizabeth II on them. They also include the years of her reign 1952-2022 on them.
I see the Ontario coin roll hunters finding KC coins. Not having much luck here on the east coast.

Hopefully we'll get them soon. As for grading, ICCS is the only Canadian grading company that I'd recommend.
