Hi, it was very interesting to me hear about my Alma Mater. I was born in Poland and graduated from Poznan Medical School almost 30 years ago with a little better than average scores. It was 6 years long polish program at that time. I can tell you that what you are saying about basic science was so true back then. Every professor wanted to make us experts in his or her field, we needed to study absolutely everything what was in books. Till now I remember 6 huge textbooks of Anatomy (so-called by Bohenek). Anyway, I wanted to ensure you that despite my average English, I still was able to pass USMLE with ease, and get residency in UIC Chicago. I have been working in various US hospitals including university ones and never was ashamed of my education. In fact, strong basic sciences learned in my polish school gave me enormous advantages over US-trained doctors. I always laugh that US doctors are taught to MCQ tests, they know only 3-4 most common diagnoses. If you were trained in Poland, you will know 10 or 15 possibilities for every situation and will have very strong biochemistry and physiology background. Good luck to you all studying in polish universities and use your time in Poland and Europe wisely.

Med school orientation: We are going to be learning science at the cutting edge of what man kind has to offer.
Week 1: Me trying to remember parts of the cell that I learned in 9th grade filled with sadness and anxiety.

hi, I'm officially starting med school in Warsaw uni this October. How do you think things will change if Poland leaves EU? I genuinely am a bit concerned if that will affect our degree, but it won't tho, will it? Because I have plans to start my practice in EU so I really need my Polish MD to work

Are there any Americans with spouses at PUMS? What do they do? Can they work?

To be honest I have a lot of options to choose from and all the places I had applied reached out to me by saying that I can apply in Nicosia university in CYPRUS and warmia and Missouri university of Poland as well as Warsaw university have approached me after I finalised for Bialystok . I am in a dilemma right now as this happened all of a sudden . Pls help me out sir

Dynamic Nemesis Congrats on your acceptance! I’m not familiar with Cyprus, but if you wish to study in Poland, I would look into U of Warsaw. My program (PUMS) has its quirks in regards to teaching methods and handling of student loans (both of which I discuss in “Challenges”).

MA to MD I am asking for your contact information (email or insta) as my parents are paranoid about where we are supposed to purchase books and stuff as this is my first time studying abroad. I am an Indian, 18 years old and my actual name is Moin Khan. I am really looking forward to meet you but right now I need a little bit of help with some things that might sound trivial to you. I know that you are a busy person and I will be too as soon as I land in Bialystok. I would be eternally grateful if you could let me ask a few queries about medicine and how and where do I look for buying USMLE books
