The role of a law firm's corporate team on a transaction

In one of my interview case studies, I was asked to talk through the role of the firm’s practice areas in the context of a transaction.
More specifically, the fictional transaction involved a large hotel chain acquiring a famous central London hotel, with me advising the prospective adviser.
