It's incredible, how beautiful and powerful playing a guitar can be. Dexter feels the goodness when he hears you play. Amazing as always. Thank you so much!
Thank you, Tomo, for this easy-going, low-stress, comfortable introduction to E blues. So much fun! I agree that playing in E can yield great sound on an acoustic guitar in standard tuning. It's such a natural fit for that instrument. Your cat likes it too.
Thank you so much for this @TomoFujiaMusic. My 10-year old son has finally started showing an interest in his suburban guitar dad's hobby, but even though I've been playing for over 20 years, I'm struggling with how to teach him in a way that feels "cool" and not immediately overwhelming, you know? This is such a great entry point, where we can start jamming together right away. I swear I woke up thinking about this this morning, and then bam, on my feed while I'm stringing up one of my old beater guitars for him. Weird how the universe works.
You're very welcome! Thanks for sharing! Play good music for him! Now listening is more important than playing! Tough to teach own kids! Give him Guitar Wisdom access!
My biggest struggles are maintaining focus and clean playing. I have been a laborer for decades and play really strong-handed. These types of basic videos are awesome to help people feel the music and keep playing.
Thank you for sharing! Try one thing in less time! Only 5 minutes but only one thing! When you practice, first thing is not do anything! Very important not to play any notes that not related that one topic! Try!
Thank you Mr. Fujita, I really appreciate your love for playing the guitar and how you share your knowledge of the instrument. I don’t know what to ask you so I will just wait and see what comes next. 😊
That 63 is fantastic. I’ve got a 66 LG-1 that was converted to an LG-2 with an x brace. Beautiful little blues machines. Perfect for delta blues licks. ❤
I started reading Donna Lee and thought , hey this isn’t so hard. Then I got the music to led Zeppelin’s the ocean 🤯 . I thought , is going to be so simple. I know we all love Jimmy but this really made me see his genius on another level. Thank you for this video , you’re so appreciated.
Thank you Tomo. Love how you build the concept up in layers and by the end of the lesson your in full blown boogie-woogie mode 😁 Really enjoyed your blues lessons. I would really like to see you do walking base blues incorporating triads. Thank you so much 🙏🏻
Thank You so much Tomo you are awesome my friend I really liked what you said about keeping it simple. I find myself trying to make things to complicated trying to write songs, the idea of using the E chord form really helps. I think I will try to use a capo if I need to make a key change using those patterns. Thanks again.
Hello Tomo, you and Dexter are awesome. I really love your videos. Especially the E fingerstyle acoustic ones - the cat just makes it better. I will think about it. But off the top of my head. I would say maybe ideas on improvising some Triads into the E fingerstyle. Anything to help improvisation. I also really enjoy turnarounds. You have interesting takes on playing. Lots of knowledge. Im still working on getting your level 3 turnaround down from your video. I just want to say thankyou again for the great content. I enjoy these fingerstyle blues videos. You and Brian from Active Melody have great lessons. They have helped me. 🙏💙🐱
@@TomoFujitaMusic I plan to start guitar wisdom next week! Very excited! Congratulations on becoming a professor! There is so much greatness ahead of you! You have impacted so many peoples lives including mine! We all support you in your journey. Thank you !
@@TomoFujitaMusic I’m very excited to get started with guitar wisdom. I have been looking at the book volume 1 and I see that they offer all three volumes in one book? Do you suggest getting only volume 1 or all 3? I look forward to learning from you. So many people, including myself, have been so inspired by you.
Great stuff as usual, I play with my fingers but mostly (99%) use thumb and index fingers, I would love to see some practice exercise to introduce the other fingers into the mix On second not, I was right about ready to get your courses about two years ago when I got a job that was the needle that broke this camels back (well hands). Carpal tunnel in both hands and trigger fingers in both hands (total of 3) then two surgery dates (one for each hand 5 months apart) with a total of five surgery incisions and here we are almost ready to start up in unrest again. Looking forward to it
Even just thumb is fun! Two fingers are enough for playing good blues.Thank you for sharing, My Guitar Wisdom is not only guitar education but also positive thinking concept... good to anyone! Thank you!
Great vids, please could you help with monotonic thumb bass as this often features in E or A blues and maybe shuffle bass played with the thumb also. Thank-you for sharing your experience.
Hey great. I love the cat too. Was just thinking this walk up to the four but forgot how I did before. Now I do on the top four strings (shells) some more good to solidify the intervals. I was thinking like a 2/b3/3 min but its more a 2 dim/b3 dim/ 1 (2nd inv) lot of piano guys do. Yea mixing minor/maj penta little tricky but when you get it right its good
Hello Tomo, if you’re playing a minor E blues, how do you arrange the chord progression? Would you play E minor, A minor & B7? Or, would you keep the B a minor chord? Thanks, as always great lesson. Dexter is a cute cat.
First learn music from old records & analyze them. We don't arrange until learn a few good music in that style! Theory never go before Music! Thank you so much!
I have a question. I'm an early intermediate fingerstyle player, with minimal theory knowledge. I've been following your statement in other videos about what your minimum expectation is for your students to begin classes. So I've been learning the fretboard notes, how to construct the major scale and basic chord building. I've made a lot of progress there, but not sure where to go next to further my goal of learning exactly the kind of thing you've been doing here in this video, namely constructing some bluesy improvisations around chords and riffs. I can see I still have a long ways to go before I can do that and need to consolidate and expand the knowledge gained so far, but I'm getting bored and frustrated and feel like I'm not making any more progress other than memorising what I've learned so far.
Yes. I don't expect anything. I just want to know each person's real level and how much they what improve what way? More specific. So that's why I have very specific questionnaire at first week of my private lessons. Best way is to join my Guitar Wisdom. I teach every details. Please enjoy more! If you frustrated then youn don't have a great plan.
@@TomoFujitaMusic Awesome. Thanks Tomo. I have been putting off joining Guitar Wisdom until I was ready. But that's just delaying things. I'll do that. Thanks for the links too.

Hi tomo. Where do the Berklee students go for jam nights now? Is there a bar everybody goes to.? I was thinking maybe covid killed all that but I'm out of touch. I've been asking because I know a kid who is trying to get a scholarship to Berkeley and I'm suggesting to go hit up the jams to maybe get to know some people. If you know it would be a great help. Thanks tomo!
Your gibson make me sad. I have two nice guitars i acquired from a relative. One is a gibson j55 from 1996. One issue is that the headstock is snapped. I got it "fixed" two years ago to learn guitar on. Two weeks later, i went to pull it out, and it didn't hold. I'm going to have to send it to gibson one of these days.
Does your cat often do this when you play that guitar? I ask because a few months ago I got a new nylon string guitar with very exceptional tone and volume. My cat had expressed occasional something when I played my steel string acoustic, but this new guitar he would climb all over me whenever I played it. Very similar to what your cat is doing here. After much research I found that it's not uncommon for cats to react badly to guitars. It's the bass notes that distress them, apparently.
It's incredible, how beautiful and powerful playing a guitar can be. Dexter feels the goodness when he hears you play.
