    Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. We aren’t close to building a house like this, but we do love post frame construction. Looking forward to following your progress!

      Thanks for following along! I hope you find the channel informative and motivating enough to someday try your own build.

    you have the closest plan to build over a crawl/basement that I have been able to find. can't wait to see how you address the joist ledge detail.

      You and me both!😂 On paper it looks like it should work. Work has me swamped right now but we are hoping to make more progress soon. Thanks for subscribing to the channel!

    Hello, at around 5:00 in the video, you show the split bracket detail placement. Is there a concern that only half of the column sits on the 1/4" metal piece and the other half hangs in the air? Thanks

    • @ncbarndobuild
      @ncbarndobuild  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I personally am not concerned about it considering all the clinch rivet nails in the column. They do make a corner bracket if it is something you don’t have a warm fuzzy about.

      @@ncbarndobuild thank you. I think I prefer this method than the universal bracket where the wood sits directly on the concrete and I will have to think twice about leaving additional 1/4" length on the bottom of column to compensate for missing metal underneath.

      @ncbarndobuild  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NK-ic6yt ya that would be a great way to do it. Just cut the outside ear off and make the bottom plate longer.

    Thanks for showing a barndo build on a crawl space. Slab on grade and in floor heat can be nice but I think living on concrete would get tough on joints as we age.
    I am curious, why did you not drop your brackets into the concrete when it was poured vs anchoring them in?

    • @ncbarndobuild
      @ncbarndobuild  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks for the comment. I totally agree with the concrete being hard on joints.
      The only reason I did the anchors vs wet set was because I was not present when they did the wall pour and I didn’t trust the contractor to place the brackets for me. Since I don’t do this full time I have to really do my homework with planning around my work schedule that pays the bills and anchoring gave me the most flexibility.

      @@ripperwrestling6587 That is awesome! Hope you guys can get some freestyle and Greco in this spring. Sounds like a post frame building would fit that bill well. We are planning on going vertical next month so more videos coming soon.

    Any reason you didnt use the concrete epoxy when putting the anchors in? I plan on doing a similar build and i have always used the two-part epoxy when putting anchors in

      The engineering specs for the brackets call for using the hardware that comes with the brackets. You could definitely use that method if you have the engineering numbers to back it up. I would highly suggest talking with your building inspector before you do something different than what is called for in the engineering specifications. If you watch the timber frame porch build I used the 2 part epoxy method to connect the Timbers to the foundation. I did it that way because the engineered plans called for the epoxy method. Hope that helps.

      @@ncbarndobuild thanks for the quick reply and input. Will definitely check out the engineering specs before hand. Keep up the videos, im enjoying them hopefully just as much as you do making them. God bless and heres hoping you have a happy and healthy new year!

      @@ncbarndobuild Are you planning to share the costs incurred on various stages/phases of the build with the timeline (with comparison to your estimated budget for it) as it varies with time? This will help many viewers budget their builds realistically.

    • @ncbarndobuild
      @ncbarndobuild  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@trickyvikas I was planning on sharing costs at the end but you have a valid point on the time aspect. It would probably be better to do it as we go along. Maybe I can do the first one after all the shell framing is complete.
