Here's a little explanation of what is going on in the trailer for those not familiar with Warhammer Fantasy Lore: The person narrating is a Light Wizard- part of a sect of magic users who specifically fight the Daemons of Chaos and safeguard dangerous magical tomes. It would appear that he became desperate as war engulfed the world and opened a Book of Tzeentch: a book that his college was likely entrusted to lock away. Tzeentch is the "Chaos god" of Wisdom, Change, Forbidden Knowledge, and Deception and is said to be able to comprehend all possible outcomes and chains of outcomes of events, and therefore consulting such a book could provide a clear cut answer for how to end the war and, in some sense, visions of all the possible events within time. But he was deceived, likely from the beginning, and became possessed by the corruption of Chaos and instead of using his magic to end the war, he summoned a Greater Daemon of Tzeentch- also known as a Changer of Ways or Lord of Change. The entity is basically the magical equivalent of an entire army while manifested, but with all the hallmarks of Tzeentch. When it has exhausted its power, it will then attempt to possess a mortal host until it can channel enough magical energy to manifest again.

This might sound weird, but the first Warhammer experience that made me love its world is a Mount and Blade Warband mod, called "Warsword Conquest".

@@taserrr meh I doubt it. The gameplay difference is too great. Even if it was made it wouldn't resemble anything like the Total War series. It would be more in the style of Wargame, World on Conflict or CnC.
@@makeromaniagreatagain9697 I don't know, I think it could be very similar combat wise. There's plenty of melee in 40k even full melee factions.
@@taserrr yeah but with all the tanks rockets and bombs, close unit formations would be extremely vulnerable to most modern weapons. The backbone formation would be the squad consisting of one to two dozen soldiers like in Steel Division.

I honestly have no idea what is name is, but his voice doesn't sound like anything I've heard in the game so far (although that doesn't mean much, voice actors are able to alter their voices in amazing ways sometimes, so maybe I'm just unable to recognize him).

i've seen this trailer a few times over the years and i always come back for the scene at 1:40. between the clouds parting before the Comet of Casandora's summoning and the mage's obvious strain at having to, well, apparate a fucking huge ass comet at a high speed and control *roughly* where it lands, felt like magic in movies and other shows could really benefit from this sort of treatment
Watch "Astartes- part 5" and see similar weighty treatment of an inquisitor.

Salim El-Othman there is a reason for the blood dlc,at least they say they have a reason. It's to sell to a wider audience the official game because technically the DLC isn't the game and therefore the game itself can be offered at a lower rating of PEGI 13 while with the blood it'd be rated a lot higher (like PEGI 18) it's just a marketing strategy. Not everyone wants blood so it's just a waste of a rating to rate it higher for a function not everyone wants.
I wish this voice actor could whisper things to me every night while I fall asleep. That voice is incredible. He makes this trailer powerful.

The total war team is really brave. They have the guts to try something new and risky. So many developers stick to what they have done well and dont change. In the end their game gets repetitive and boring. Well done to total war. This game looks promising.

***** No it wouldn't. The only reason guns work in Napoleon/Empire is because the soldiers still stood in large, regular formations and cover is almost never taken into account. Cover plays a huge role in 40k and units move in loose, flexible ways. I don't know how you'd involve flying units at all.
Don't get me wrong. I'd love to see a large scale 40k game. I don't think Total War should be it though.

Not to mention they knew what the Germans were doing via code breaking (the allies), they were constantly playing with a foul hand. And by the time the allies arrived at "D"-day the Germans had already lost the war through the Soviets.

I Love how Chaos Chicken is made out to be the Final Boss to everyone. Yet In game Archaon is the one that Gets a Cut scene when Chaos arrives. He only really a Final boss(if you can call it that) In The Chaos Campaign.

+PetePL1989 It is still going to be a massive part of the game. The only thing different between buying the DLC and not is the ability to play as Chaos. Chaos will still exist in the game and still have a big influence on your campaign you just can't play as them unless you preorder the game, buy the DLC, or use a very simple mod that unlocks all factions.

Total war games are always incredible, even if some of them need fix at release (rome 2 for exemple, are very good now even if it is really bug at the release).

I'm not a fan of warhammer, but a fictional take on the game seems like a good idea to help add a bit of creativity to total war

Marc Ariss I wonder who's idea it was, CA or Sega? Strategy Warhammer was always Relics scene, and they nailed it good with DoW, especially the originals.
XarKavier Good question, Im not sure who would have made the call, but I have kind of expected GW to do something like this with the Warhammer ip, as they are scaling back the miniatures line but will be left with a pretty rich world. That being said I do hope it does the ip justice, fingers crossed...the trailer looked good though.

The general from the Kislev trailer which slowly fell to Chaos after all the rage from all the challenges Kislev faces reminds me of this trailer and the wizard who fell to Chaos after seeking dark knowledge after all the challenges the Empire faces.

Chimsonovan while I am not going lie that sounds awesome. the majority of the warhammer 40k fan base are used to the turn based incarninations of the game weather it would be table top or others. to put it simple that people of the fan base will bash and cause trouble in terms of the sales of such a game considering that most of the fanbase

I have a question is it Storm of Chaos or End of Times because I definitely saw Karl Franz and Ironhide, but I am not sure about the rest because we did not see neither Archon neither Mannfred or Nagash, but also this is strange why undead are leaded by Zacharias the Everliving. And does prophet in the end is a Necrodormo Insane? Do you have some spare change?
Dismas Hunter Oh and if think about it there will be at least 3 types of Dark Elves, 3 Skaven Clans, 3-5 Elves, Khorne,Nurgle,Slaanesh,3 Bretonians,Kislev, 3 Tomb Kings, 3 Lizardmen Clans and maybe chaos dwarves, 3 clans of different beastmen but most likely they will be counted as normal forces of chaos. Does pirate factions which never had homeland and usually chill near chaos poles count as faction or no?

Has anyone figured out who the voice actor was who narrated this trailer? His voice is epic and combined with the background music, it put this trailer over the top. I wish someone would take a chance and do a full CGI movie like this. I know I'd buy it.
