Those two "Wrong Level" levels reminded me of that one troll level with two paths, and the player had to restart the level to enter the first checkpoint from a different direction to enter a different path, and each path constantly gave a hint how to progress in the other path which made the player to restart the level over and over again. The only difference was that in this case there were two levels using the same idea instead of just one level.
Stuff like this is why troll levels are the greatest levels in Mario maker imo. It takes skill to make a great traditional or kaizo level, but the skills needed for a great troll level is just leagues above.
The soft lock you hit at 6:48 was indeed fixed in a later rev of the level. (It now dispenses a Big cannon on you, as I found out over and over and over again.)
They actually fixed that softlock before Carl played that level and were trying to scream at him in chat during the stream to update it, he did not notice.
you might run into problems including 3D because items just don't exist. but the other 4 could work, and the real issue is getting the player to go back to the correct level each time they need to change GOTO SMB3: red pipe x4 GOTO SMB right door with fire....
@@gardian06_85 well, if you have something like the banned wagon website set up, then you could have the hints be codes that you input instead of physical blocks, which would not only allow for hints across 2D/3D, but also for easier text description (since text in Mario Maker levels can take up a lot of room)

'Mario Commits Key Die' is probably my all-time fave troll level (even though I possibly shouldn't have enjoyed it so much considering there were way too many Poison SMW1 levels being made at the time), so watching this partial homage to it was an absolute delight.
I used to agree with "nintendo needs to fix this because it doesn't work properly" and then i see those elaborate set-ups and it vaguely reminds me of a comedy sketch where the character would try their best to break stuff and then blame shoddy workmanship (father ted iirc). Hi Carl, Re: piranhas and munchers same plants A recent DGR video addressed this at great length. It depends who you ask. In the Japanese folklore there is not official answer. In the North America instruction booklet for SMB3 the section that goes over the different baddies does say munchers and piranhas are the same plants, although many argue this was ad lib artistic liberties by the American translators without getting an official Seal Of Approval by Nintendo of Japan. Hope this helps and watch out for that hidden Thwom------ oops too late

That's reminds me so much of the idea I had where you would go through a level to get a code to go through a level to get a code until eventually you learn the dev exit for level 1 which shows you the dev exit in another level when you beat level 1, and repeat. These masters of trolling just took that idea and improved on it.

They could use this method by a way of carrying over power ups to the next level. Using codes to unlock the power up
