  • Join me as I review the Memphis Shades Road Warrior Fairing that I have for my 2018 Harley Davidson Road King Special. I talk about ease of installation, mounting, what I like and dislike about it, and show how easy it is to change the look of your motorcycle with this fairing.

    Also J St, When I first got my RK from HD I installed lower HD fairings. I think they were responsible for an increased updraft like you're describing. I thought about how best to reduce that problem. I ended up modifying a set of Memphis Shades Fork Deflectors, cut them to be compatible with the lower fairings, and polished the edges. They push that updraft down and around. Works great and they look real good if you go with the black ones.

    I've got KST 10" Outlaws on my 2020 RKS. Totally dig them. Nice height (not sky high apes- Thee days are way behind me). Also sitting on a LePera Daytona 2-up with rider backrest. Benn riding on LePera seats for years. JST, how do you like your Maverick?

      Love the Maverick!!! Most comfortable seat I’ve ridden on.

    I enjoyed the video….I have a 2022 road king special with the road warrior fairing. 2 questions…My shield is 13 inches from headlight opening to the top of the shield. Is that an 11 or 9 shield. I want a taller one with that vent cut. Second my bars are stock and I like your. I was told at the Harley shop for comfort don’t go above your shoulders. Your opinion??? I’m 5’10

    • @jst_moto
      @jst_moto  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and for the questions. I am not a representative of Memphis Shades but I will answer as best I can. I measured mine and I am 15" from top of light opening to top of the windscreen and I know my windshield is 11", I think you have the 9". Bars are an extremely personal thing, with that said, I do agree that your hands should not be above your shoulders when riding. Mine are the 14" KST Kustoms Renegades and work perfect for me. Depending on the problem you are trying to solve with the taller bars (hands going numb, pain in the upper back, or just want a different look) you might be able to make other changes first. For instance, you can rotate the stock bars forward a little bit and it will raise your hands up some. Let me know what you decide to do!! Thanks again for the support and always ride safe!!

    Get the 13 or 15 and have it tinted with 5% tint. That’s my plan for this fairing if I need taller than the 11 inch

    • @jst_moto

      Great idea!! I will keep that in mind if I ever decide to go taller. Thanks for watching and commenting!!

      I’m 6’ and the 11” dark black smoke works just fine for me. Thanks for watching the video. I’m very glad it helped you with your decision.

      2020 RKS with KST 10" Outlaws. Not meat hooks and have a comfortable bend to them. Also sporting an HD Wind Splitter shield that I modified to rock fore and aft to adjust the bubble as well as to lock the shield in place. I'm a 60 year old dude and I dig seeing guys set up their RKs as sound touring bikes while maintaining the great RK style. Looks great JST.

  • @bassbender7847
    @bassbender7847 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm leaning towards putting this fairing on my RKS but I've had reservations because of the windshield tinting. I've thought maybe about grabbing the bigger windshield anyway and just taking it to get tinted but I'm not sure if it will stand up to the weather.

    • @jst_moto
      @jst_moto  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t know. If the tinting job is good enough it should stand up to the weather.

    • @chickengreasemcghee7268
      @chickengreasemcghee7268 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was considering the same. Maybe tinting the inside of the fairing is an option?

    Hey whats happening brother, I have a 2011 road king classic will that fairing fit on my bike ? Also whats the part # for that fairing? I like that it has those 2 openings on it but I can't find it on there website btw I'm jealous you bike look just like I want mine lol

    • @jst_moto
      @jst_moto  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and the compliment about my bike. The link I provided in the description lets you pick your specific bike from there it shows the products they have that fit your platform. You want to look for the “vented” windshields to add to the road warrior fairing. The only thing I can see that would keep it from fitting a road king classic are those side aux lights that are mounted on the outside of the forks. If you eliminate those it will probably fit so then you’d need to select the road king special as your platform in order to see the correct one. Hope this helps and seriously thanks for the support!!

    Do you think the vents in the windshield helps decrease buffeting?

    • @jst_moto
      @jst_moto  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for this question and for watching the video. As I kind of mentioned in the video. I don’t get any real buffeting. What I do get is an updraft of wind at about where my belt is. But I honestly think that is due to the wind being directed by the lower fairings. With that said, buffeting and it’s effect on us is a personal thing. In other words what I might not consider buffeting you would and vice versa. For me this windshield keeps all the wind off of me that I want at this time while the vents allow enough air flow that I remain cool. I know this isn’t a straight up answer but as buffeting is a subjective thing. So all I can do is tell you my experience.

    Nice bike. What speaker is this? Do you connect them to USB power source ?

    • @jst_moto

      It’s the Kuryakyn road thunder. Connects to phone via Bluetooth and has a USB port to use for charging the phone. I’m going to review the speaker in a video coming up in the next week or so. Thanks for watching!!
