Dude this was so helpful. I been struggling getting mine adjusted so it wasn't a nightmare. Just took it for a spin after your recommendations and its like a whole new bike. Can't thank you enough!
James Browning yes!!! That makes me so happy to hear James! Glad it was able to help resolve the issue! Cheers and thank you for the feedback! 🙏🏻 I appreciate the support sir! Happy riding and stay safe!
Went from 7 in to 9 in shield on the road warrior on my road king and it did help buffeting, but I had it midway in the adjustment kinda canted back towards the bars so the wind still hits right around the top of my helmet. I decided to raise it all the way up and kick it forward/straighter and then I come across this video recommending exactly that! I can't wait to try it out
Youre absolutely rite, putting it uprite more diverts the air upward. I got mine coming in the mail, i got the vented windshield too hoping that helps cancel any negative pressure behind the fairing. Nicely done
Yes! Solid! I didn’t include a more verbose section of the video talking about me wanting to try a vented with the 15” for the lowlow. I do like the 11 paired with the sporty! And from those who run it I’ve heard it does help. That the wind isn’t nearly anywhere as violent regarding the little wind buffeting one may feel. Cheers John! Thank you for your comment and look forward to hearing your thoughts on your fairing! Lovin mine 65,000 mile in and counting!
Your theory is pretty sound. Had a Yamaha with Memphis shades fats windshield mounted vertical. Buffering was non issue. My HD FXST came with HD clip on windshield and it was canted back. Buffeting was really bad.
I tried the 11 inch and then I tried the 17 inch and realized I don’t like looking through the window screen on my FatBob 114 so I ordered the café racer windscreen im a tall rider 6’4 No problems with the café windscreen hits me about the neck and I can cruise along 80 no problem
Great video brother. Needed this. I’ve noticed some wind buffeting on mine as well but it’s not that bad. I’ll be playing with the positioning of mine to see if your tips can help.
Cheers!! Yessir! Its def something to try that hopefully helps so one doesn’t have to order another height if they like their current one. But sometimes wind buffeting can drive people to ditch their initial choice which may change the aesthetics of the bike ever so slightly! Thank you for the continued support! Safe riding!
It will help some, but for the most part that will always be there. With the wind hitting the fairing it'll deflect from the fairing the path of the least resistance. Most often 60% will go up the fairing over the rider and the other 40% will be split off the sides and underneath (but what you feel underneath is also the wind being deflected from your front end). One option you could look into to help mitigate (esp in winter months) is get a hoop style crash bar and soft lowers from amazon/harley. They're about $100 for the soft lowers. That will help deflect more of that wind from underneath, but will still get some of a draft. Keep me posted and lmk if the wind from underneath is mitigated any with the tip! Thank you for your comment and thanks for watching!
haha I'm sure you could make it work with some finessing. I believe Memphis Shades makes the fairings for some indian scouts. I think your closest may be the Road Warrior for the HD Road Kings since it has slightly wider fork width between the triple tree.
@@ConnorFXDB it helped for most speeds but once I hit 80 or so the buffeting comes back, thanks for the helpful video, I had no idea you could adjust the angle of it like that
cheers brutha! That's the plan! I continue to get the question every so often so hopin this helps answer that question or a tool for others to refer friends to. Its a simple enough troubleshoot to try and hopefully fixes the issue so they dont have to get a diff height shield
It’s not the angle of the dangle, but the size of the wind doing the buffering 😉😂 Cheers Mr Patton! Much appreciate you checking out the video! Thank you for the continued support and thank you for your comment
It did! It helps deflect some of the wind off the sides and allowing some to pass through so its a little more gentle of the buffet. We are about to do a 1k in a day ride this sunday and Oscar (buddy on FXLRS riding with me) will be running the vented and I the non vented and I will ask him his thoughts on it after that long of a ride. Thanks for watching!
Dude awesome video, I have a Dyna Lowrider S with a Lucky Dave's step up. I'm just shy of 6 feet and looking for a shield that won't direct the wind right at my helmet. Looking to throw wind over my helmet or below, what size would you recommend? Thinking of going 9 or 11 inch so that the wind hits below my helmet.
Thank you! I would say the 15" option would be perfect. Thats what Im running at 5'11" and should get you situated just right, but as you stated - you want the wind below your helmet so the 9/11" should be perfect
Thank you for your tips! Unfortunately it doesn't work for road king. Obviously. :( Seems that I have to try a 17"... already got 13 and 15 vented, the wind hits into the helmet badly, I'm 6,2"
dang! bummer to hear! But I can see why since the forks on the roadking are a little more angled back. LMK how the 17" fairing does id be curious to hear if it helps
Thank you! And thank you for watching! Much appreciate the support! For sure! Some of other videos help but then there 20+min long of talking 😂 decided to keep it short and to the point
it does help! When you run the nonvented you feel a little more of the draft/buffeting off on the sides and the vent helps some of that wind pass through so its not quite as violent! hope this helped answer your question! Cheers and thank you for watching!
Howdy and thank you for the question! I believe they are the same as long as they’re the same size clamps (49mm for 49mm forks or 39mm for 39mm forks) I believe they’ll work just the same. Are you looking at picking up another fairing without having to spend the extra $$ on new brackets etc? I have a gauntlet in my garage I can try out and get back to you!
@@ConnorFXDB Yes I have brackets that fit my gauntlet just trying to save some $$ wasn't sure if they would fit or not thought you might know . i am switching to the road warrior .
So somewhat unrelated issue, but i have a softail deuce and everywhere online says that the road warrior will not fit my bike? After watching this i think it will. Any idea why it wouldnt?
Howdy and thank you for watching! Solid question! I think it would probably because the rake of the bike might be moreso than on the standard motorcycle models they made the road warrior fairings for. the 39mm older dyna kit does fit sportsters, but with some modification to the brow mount for fitment. I imagine the fairing would fit on your bike but the issue would be with the headlight. Unless you modified the moutning block or bracket to accomodate the fairing at the diff angle than its intended to itd work. Cheers and hope that helps!
Howdy Bradley! My apologies for the tardy reply what helmet are you running? Bummer to hear the remedies didnt help alleviate any of the wind buffeting. Thank you for watching!

I have the 15 inch screen and 6'1 tall. I had no idea you could adjust the grommets, therefore moving the fairing farther out. Top video 👍🏼
cheers! Happy to have offered some tips! Thank you for watching!!
Has to be the best video on the Road Warrior I’ve seen! Ordered mine yesterday, hope it helps the wife on the back!
thank you! That makes me happy to hear! Ive enjoyed my RW since I got it! At this point Im at 80,000 miles with it!

Need to do some research on which HD model had the closest dimensions to the Indian Chief so I can order this fairing and make it work ha.
