Well i think the fobs are fine. I want to know if the keys are totally separate from the fob. Basically once I put my key in the ignition, it says Driver 2 memory. With my other key, it says Driver 3 memory. Will this method erase keys or just fobs?
I lost one of my key fobs and felt really uncomfortable not having a backup. I ordered one after watching this video because you made it so simple. Everything went exactly as your video explained. Thank you, kindly!

If you put the existing working remote in the cup holder before you start, then turn the key counter clockwise 5 times, the display will show “ready for remote 2” and you can program the new remote without wiping out the old one. Also, adding a key doesn’t take 30 minutes, takes about 15 seconds If you have NO working keys at all, then the 30 minute procedure is essential.

I resume the the second push start portion from this tutorial. People are funny. Yes, i appreciate the video. Some do better by visual than reading. But it's in your owner manual how to reprogram your fobs. Fast and easy explanation, though.
I actually got stuck in programming mode the first time I tried this. The original fob would unlock and lock, start via remote, but not allow operation of the truck. Talk about stressful situation 😅 Not my vehicle either. Some where through the process, I had hit a button on the steering wheel. Got it out of this issue, and successfully programmed the original fob, but not an additional (it isn't exactly fob, but I believe it should work). Trying again 🙏🏽
@@PhoenixHavenGarage On second attempt, the same results. First fob programmed, second didn't. This time the service theft deterrent warning came on! We tried to reset that via leaving battery disconnected for 15+ minutes without success. We managed to override the theft deterrent system by holding the key in the door lock, in the unlock position for 30 seconds. It then allowed the vehicle to start. The owner took the vehicle to a dealership and they quoted him $741 for 2 fobs! The service tech claimed the fobs are 1 use only, as in can only be "programmed once" LMAO! Service tech also told him by having fobs that aren't for the vehicle inside the vehicle while programming breaks the working fobs. Talk about a piece of work this person is. The owner of the vehicle is non-English speaking, and in my opinion, being taken advantage of by a greedy gm tech. Pretty certain GM service techs are financially motivated by labor hours from previous experience. While out of town, my wife was charged 11 hours labor to change 3 fuel injectors. On an LS3 engine. Amounts to 10-12 bolts and maybe replacing O-rings.
I did this on my Chevy Silverado 1500 2021 Trail Boss worked with my original fob was trying to program the spare key fob they gave us at the dealership which turned out to be a dud does not work but now I have the car lock symbol on the dashboard( the theft deterrent system) anyway you can make a video on how to reset that I've already tried unplugging the battery no luck thanks for the video great job
I found this To reset the anti-theft system on the Chevy Silverado You will need to get into the car and lock the doors. Now with the doors locked put the key into the ignition and turn it to the on position. Let it sit there for 5 minutes until the anti-theft light blinks. Once it blinks You will need to turn it to the off position, then turn it back to the on position. Now wait for a min and it will blink again. Turn it off then on one more time. When it blinks for the third time go ahead and start the engine. The anti-theft is now reset. www.vehiclehistory.com/questions/how-do-i-reset-anti-theft-system-chevy-silverado-93695 Just push the ignition button to put the truck into the same selection/position as mentioned
I have a separate key .. No keyless remote. Will this still work? Also I don't have push button it a key switch. Will this still work by turning the key to push the button

Thank you! Was successfully able to program second key. However, the trouble tap to open lift gate is not working on new key. It works with the original key. How do I program that?
Glad to see it worked for many people. However, i have one working transmitter and just need to program the other. My new transmitter, fob, has the key cut. It works. I can lock and unlock with key. When i start the very first step, my dashboard does not display anything. Blank. I turn the key, counterclockwise 5 times. Nothing. I use both working transmitter key and non working transmitter key, the one I want to program. Should all doors be unlock, tailgate closed. Should i have my non working transmitter already in the slot to be programmed? Hold my breath? jump on one foot while barking like a dog?

Okay. Same link I used for the instructions. I remembered that my truck came from the great white north, so if I read correctly, these steps will not work, and I have to take my fob to a dealer.
My extra fob on my 2020 Silverado went missing, so I needed another one. Got it off Amazon for like $30. Started the process and got super nervous because my original fob stopped working, would only lock/unlock and remote start. Wouldn’t push to start anymore. Kept going through the prompts - and ended up with a second key fob again! Definitely was scary at first when I couldn’t start my truck. Also, you need to follow the timer to a T. I was maybe 30 seconds early and got nervous not seeing the next step pop up on the dash. Trust the process! Thank you!

Hello I am trying to help my BIL he got a 2020 Sierra AT4 and only got 1 key with it. He has 2 new keys he wants to program. I am getting stuck on the first step though. I opened the door all the way and put the key in the door and turned it counterclockwise 5 times and the screen on the dash goes dead. It never goes into "learning" mode. I tried closing the door and opening it back up to see if anything changes but it just shows "engine time" never "learning" mode. Am I doing something wrong?

I had a fob go bad and not sure where I put it. I just purchased a new back up for 260, but they said I needed to come back and it would take 2 hours to program.
I'm on the fence about trying this for my 2021 GMC Sierra. My Key fob is acting up like the battery is dying and randomly saying "remote not detected" (replaced with a new battery) Dealer wants $250 to diagnose. Would you happen to know if re-programming my fob will solve my issue?
Maybe the fob is faulty/failing? Do you have more than 1 fob? I would suggest getting a new fob so you have a 2nd one, then attempt to re-program. Make sure the truck is parked out of the way of things in-case re-programming fails. I do not know too much about troubleshooting the fob system. I only found instructions on how to re-program a fob and made a video covering it.
I did this procedure and it seems that everything worked properly but now my remote start doesn't work on either key and it used to work on the original one. Curios if there was a cause of me doing something wrong or I should redo them both again.
What if I only want to program a new fob but have my old key? because my remote start stopped working on the old fob so I bought a new one without a key

Hey bud, did the steps and got the keys programmed but after the complete set up still says no key fob detected, we changed batteries in both remotes, any idea what else it could be?
Yes sir both new, we recently discovered a rodent of some kind has been chewing on the interior and thinking it chewed on some wiring as well. Probably why it's not reading the FOB in the holder on the bottom seat, I did everything you had on your video. Awesome info BTW. We'll have to take it to the shop and let them figure it out.
Ok I have a good one for you. I remote started the truck on my way out of work. I opened the door as usual but I wanted to check a fuse situation under the hood. On second attempt, the same results.
@@tbaker9409 11 hours for fuel injectors on an LS? Nothing beats a trust worthy mechanic.
Can you tell me how you got out of programming mode I think I did the same thing and now I can’t do anything
How did you fix the issue?
I program keys at the dealership, and I just want to say, "You took my job!"
Baka daka dur, "You took his job"
I did this on my Chevy Silverado 1500 2021 Trail Boss worked with my original fob was trying to program the spare key fob they gave us at the dealership which turned out to be a dud does not work but now I have the car lock symbol on the dashboard( the theft deterrent system) anyway you can make a video on how to reset that I've already tried unplugging the battery no luck thanks for the video great job
I found this
To reset the anti-theft system on the Chevy Silverado You will need to get into the car and lock the doors.

Just push the ignition button to put the truck into the same selection/position as mentioned
I have a separate key .. No keyless remote. Will this still work? Also I don't have push button it a key switch. Will this still work by turning the key to push the button
I do not know, but the website where I found the instructions to make this video has instructions for all of the different key options: www.programautokeys.com/classified/2019-chevrolet-silverado-ignition-transponder-chip-key-programming-instructions-listing-9400.aspx#.Y1v9cnbMKM-
My truck doesn’t have that little compartment in the center console for the key fob 2020 Silverado
Check the seat compartment below the main armrest compartment as I show in the video. Otherwise I'm not sure where else it would be
This is the instructions I used for my make, model and trim. You can use the menu to select instructions for your exact truck. www.programautokeys.com/classified/2019-chevrolet-silverado-ignition-transponder-chip-key-programming-instructions-listing-9400.aspx#.YIRH2pBKiUk
Thank you!
Does this also work for 2021 custom Silverado without a keyless start button
This is where I found the instructions that I filmed. I think it had different instructions for multiple options on the vehicle. www.programautokeys.com/classified/2019-chevrolet-silverado-ignition-transponder-chip-key-programming-instructions-listing-9400.aspx#.YvZvcHbMKM9
It worked!
Page 17 of my owners manual also tells you step by step how to do the process.
My truck won’t go into remote learn pending after turning key 5 times. Any ideas?

When you’re waiting the 10 minutes where are your fobs? In or outside of the truck
They do not need to be in the truck until you need to insert them into the programming slot in the center seat compartment.
Will this work if im using a key fob from my 2020 gmc 1500 to a 2021 gmc 2500? They are the same fob.
Seems the new remotes only lock/unlock. Wont do tailgate. And one remote starts. Other won’t. Can I start over and reprogram? Or is this a one shot programming per remote?
You can do this as many times as you like.
Mine did the same, did you figure it out
Do you have to press the brake when you push the start button?
no
My truck needs to have a key fob on the slot for it to turn on, do you know if there is a way to bypass that so I don’t have to have it in the slot for it to turn on?
@@juanceja3851 sorry, I do not know
Will this work on a 2020 Chevy Suburban LS with a key No push to Start button ?
These are the instructions I used. Just pick and look for your truck and options. www.programautokeys.com/classified/chevrolet-make-538.aspx
I meant how to program the key fob remote not the actual key
@@PhoenixHavenGarage Please look at that website yourself. It is only for programming the ignition key. NOTHING about the fob.
Do you have to leave the door open?
Hello I am trying to help my BIL he got a 2020 Sierra AT4 and only got 1 key with it. He has 2 new keys he wants to program. I am getting stuck on the first step though. I opened the door all the way and put the key in the door and turned it counterclockwise 5 times and the screen on the dash goes dead. It never goes into "learning" mode. I tried closing the door and opening it back up to see if anything changes but it just shows "engine time" never "learning" mode. Am I doing something wrong?
This is the website with the instructions I used. This is the link to the 2020 sierra. good luck www.programautokeys.com/classified/2020-gmc-sierra-ignition-transponder-chip-key-programming-instructions-listing-9342.aspx#.ZDGMZHbMJPY
Same thing happening to me
Did the management help you? I have a Silverado 1500 RST 2019 and the same problem. Only the hours and opening hours on dash.
I have a 2021 trailboss LT where do I put the key for programming?
Awesome!
Does the remote start work?
Or is there a separate procedure?
It should work. I think on mine the doors need to be locked for it to work
Will this process work with a 2018 Silverado?
I have no key fobs now and need them. I have already bought OEM key fobs. I just need to program them!
I honestly don't know, but the link in the description of the video should have written instructions for all makes and models.
I had a fob go bad and not sure where I put it. I just purchased a new back up for 260, but they said I needed to come back and it would take 2 hours to program.
This is the 8th truck I have purchased from them.
I would see if this works 1st. It has for a lot of viewers. It's a scam at the dealership to charge 2hr of labor.
I have a 2019 chevy high country, my trk dosen't have that slot in the console. Where would i put the fob to learn
I think it is the square section of the cup holder in the center console. Place it face down in the middle section.
Worked, but the new fon dosen't work the remote st or tailgate
Do you need to press the brake before you hit the start button? Thanks ordered my key today!
no
I'm on the fence about trying this for my 2021 GMC Sierra.
My Key fob is acting up like the battery is dying and randomly saying "remote not detected" (replaced with a new battery)
Dealer wants $250 to diagnose.
Did you buy new remotes that are the same? Make sure the doors are locked when you do the remote start.
What if I only want to program a new fob but have my old key? because my remote start stopped working on the old fob so I bought a new one without a key
Thanks

How much was it to cut the new key from ebay? Thanx by the way! This will save me a ton of time and money!!!
The key has to be cut at the dealer I think. The fob was like $30 I think.
Is there a way to do it for a non push start?
Did you have to get the new fob key cut to the old one or does it work uncut as it comes in the package?
You need to get it cut. What is funny is we recently found the lost fob with the cut key in it.

Do you have both remotes inside the truck when this starts?
It does not matter where the remotes are, you're clearing the memory in the truck's computer. You just need to place them in the programmer in the center console when it is time. They can be inside with you.
Hey bud, did the steps and got the keys programmed but after the complete set up still says no key fob detected, we changed batteries in both remotes, any idea what else it could be?
Hhmm, maybe it's something with the truck's electronics? These are both new fobs?
Yes sir both new, we recently discovered a rodent of some kind has been chewing on the interior and thinking it chewed on some wiring as well. Probably why it's not reading the FOB in the holder on the bottom seat, I did everything you had on your video. Awesome info BTW. We'll have to take it to the shop and let them figure it out.
@@evilclowns5403 Yea, good luck!
Ok I have a good one for you. I remote started the truck on my way out of work. I opened the door as usual but I wanted to check a fuse situation under the hood. I didn’t get in the truck and pressed the brake and the button first. The truck shut off and said steering column lock. I disconnected the battery for a little bit and got rid of that but the fob wouldn’t work after that. I followed your instructions perfectly and both of them still don’t work.
