    I can confirm that if you're starving it will be the best meal u ever had especially if it's the chili mac one. If u need more salt just wring your sweaty shirt out it works great if u have no salt.

    It was cool to see the comparison but like you said survival food. The best spice is hunger so this would be a welcome meal. For the cost you cannot beat them for long term food.

    Civvie rations are getting pretty decent, hope they continue to improve. I still prefer legit military/us rations but these are solid.

      I prefer the military ones too but having a stash of these on hand is handy.

    Great review, maybe they are changing the packaging because the thinner one is cheaper and generally these are stored and dont face abuse like regular MREs in bags and stuff. Your puppy is very cute too

    Great double review. Strange about the packaging. Sugar in the spice, that's my kind of spices. Have a great day my friend 🤝

    Good review. A local guy to me has cases for $30, but your hands on reviews on these low sodium meals has me thinking I'll skip it. Storage life is only good if the meal is going to be something I want to eat.

    No peanut butter? Come on! Jelly is great, but got to have some PB to go with it, also some drinks would have been nice. Toss in a couple of drink straws. For what they sell these MREs for, the "extras" aren't extra for the producer to include.

    • @ReadinessRations
      @ReadinessRations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't think they put PB in low sodium meals because it generally has a fair amount of salt. I'm with you though, it would improve the meal for sure.

    I'm expecting two, 14 meals, boxes today of low sodium MRE's. My greatest fear is their age and how are they when it comes to pre purchase storage conditions after I get them from the shipper.
    I always order my emergency foods during the early or later part of winter to ensure receipt of rations that do not "bake" during transportation to my home. By removing and consuming/sampling one or two of the newly received rations, I can roughly determine the conditions of the other meals without opening and inspecting each one. The mfg. date code on one will also give me their rough remaining storage life while in my care while they are all kept in my dark and dry 65 degree F. basement until they get rotated out years from now.
    ALWAYS BE PREPARED

    My case had three different types of packaging, near military quality, the thicker one you show and the cheap plastic. Most of the the poptarts were still in their civilian packaging and busted open in the package.

    • @ReadinessRations
      @ReadinessRations  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. Shame about the poptarts. I wonder if it's common for new cases to have mixed packing like that. The old ones were all uniform.

      @@ReadinessRations actually came home and decided to try another one, outer packet market 2017 packing, roast beef and vegetable, wheat bread, apply jelly, tootsie roll, pop tarts, spoon, salt, moist towelette. FRH didn't work, which was expected. Date on main box ( no sleeve) was 4006cx, same as pouch.

    added up all the calories and i got 1060 kcal.
    thx for uploading. apex gun parts has these for like 50$ for a case of 16. ~15$ shipping on 2 cases. for some reason they charge tax, idk. comes to about 4$/meal not counting tax... which im guessing goes right in their pocket

    • @ReadinessRations
      @ReadinessRations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      $4 for over 1k calories isn't too bad considering they last forever if stored in a cool place

    Civilian Rations not having drinks make sense, these are likely intended for natural disasters and the likes where people mostly sit still. MilRats often have a lot of drinks because there's a persistent problem keeping soldiers hydrated in the field and giving a bunch of coffee, juices, shakes, and isotonics encourage soldier to actually get their water intake.

    The one on the right looks like someone repackage it with a home sealer.

    • @ReadinessRations
      @ReadinessRations  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It could be. That same kind of bag is commonly used by the MRE producer Amriqual. I suspect Amriqual may have packed this for Sopakco the same way they do with some military MREs. Who knows though.

    This is not a great preppers item to mass stock they don’t last long enough, freeze dried food is far superior.
