Thanks, good video, deleting the S&M.ini file caused some issues, and I had to reload all the track template files again before it worked again!

Exactly what I was looking for..thanks so much..wasn't even sure this was possible in Reaper....so that is great...btw With all the icons like Omnisphere...Vienna Instruments...Addictive Drums 2 etc...is there somewhere we can download all those icons..or do they have to be made by hand? Thanks again!

Yes on the Reaper Stash there are tons of pre-made logos. I do them all myself because I'm mildly OCD, but there are excellent fully transparent .pngs on Reaper Stash. Just search for icons there's pages and pages of them

@@reapertutorials1947 Thanks mate.. Will definitely check that out..I just made an Addictive Drums one in Photoshop.. Had to play with the sizing a little to have it not too big . But I hear you . Am a bit the same with these things.. but will check out what others have made. Am so glad to have discovered this technique from you. Thanks:)

When I load vst instruments I can't see the instruments for example ssd.5,splitfire piano etc but the volume, panning etc appears. How can I see the instruments to adjust them what ever I need.

Where do you find file icons online for most of your plugins? I can't find any for stuff like Neural DSP, or any of my synths

I increased the number of slots as shown in my S&M.ini, but only 9 of my 24 fx chains show up in the action list. Any help? I asked this question on the cockus forum yesterday.

Thanks so much for this! I've been building my own custom icons and menus using your instructions. It seems like the import track from template feature only allows up to 249 slots. I've changed the S&M file to a limit of 999, but it only shows 249 slots in my action list. I know I'm asking for a lot, but I'm building custom toolbars organized by instrument type and trying to put all my favorites in there. Am I missing something? I know you said the number of track template slots was unlimited, so wondering if that's actually the case or if I'm missing something? Thanks again for your videos - they have been SUPER-helpful!

@Raborn Johnson Did you manage to resolve this issue? I am currently at over 300 track template slots but have hit a maximum of 255 slots on the "import tracks from track template, slot n" action, although if you use the "import tracks from track template, prompt for slot" action you can insert a number over 255 and it imports the appropriate track. I'm also using the feature to compile a "favourites" menu, so any info would be gratefully appreciated.

@@Mr_Crumbly I posted something about this on the Reaper forum and was told that this is a built-in limitation of S&M. I was told that to remove that limitation would require a reworking of the code itself and therefore probably wouldn't happen. 😕

@@rabornjohnson You are probably already aware of this, but there is an alternative to track templates which may free up some of your slots. If you go to the FX Browser and right-click on an instrument and select Add Shortcut, then add any key shortcut, it then adds the instrument to the Action List so you can then attach it to a toolbar or menu. It works fine for 'single' instruments but not so much for 'multi' instrument engines like Halion or Spitfire Labs.

Hello, i am having a problem with your tutorial, i fully understand the concept, but my problem is... when i want to define the import action, reaper only shows me the "import tracks from template, slot 1 to 4" i doesnt show me more like i see in your video where you can basically select all the slots you want... why is this happening? do i need to change the SWS script? do i need to do something else, so the actions apear, if i have a larger amount of slots being used?

Great vid - thanks ... But man can you slow down just a tiny bit and not move your mouse around like crazy. It gets really hard to follow the mouse movements. We're not inside your head going 180 miles an hour but trying to learn which is way easier in a more relaxed pace.. :-)

As a current old bloke - I find his speed of presentation to be quite convenient. Firstly, he can cover maximum material in minimum time - thus allowing his audience to quickly see what it's all about and ascertain whether the info is useful to their current needs. Apart from that, as a Firefox user, I can slow the clip by varying degrees, and even loop sections, so hours can be spent studying, digesting and enjoying the totally informative and extremely well done clip. Each time collapsing in awe at his intense knowledge and ability within the DAW.
      No - I'm not his dad. 👍👍👍
