I didn't know it was humanely possible to make such a breathtaking masterpiece.. but hey Karen, you've just earned a new sub! Your art is truly inspiring.
I love your art, and how you reply to everyone's comments. I'm 14 years old and I'm trying to find new techniques in my art. I haven't found anything I could accomplish yet though. I'll keep looking! :3 great job.
I'm a new subscriber so I'm watching all your videos to learn from your art, can't you make step by step videos? A lot of people will love that! I just love your art you're incredible!
Thank you so very much Dina for your lovely comments. One day I might put together a step by step video - at the moment I have step by step tutorials available from my website at www.miniatureartbykhull.com/tutorials_36.html, which can be used together with these speed drawings.
excellent work! really like how you combined the colored pencil w the burned surface, very delicate color mixing, and not muddy looking at all, very nice, like your approach and style! and love the kitty of course! =^..^=
+Invincible 2016 Thank you so very much. I am applying the brush with just the barest amount of water - there is really more inktense pigment than water and it seems to go on really well :)
What on earth is pyrography - first time I've seen or heard of it - looks like I'll have to do some googling. Beautiful drawing, wow!!! Just discovered Karen through Craftsy. Subscribed :)
👏👏👏👏Wonderful job!! You are truly amazing.............do you have any tutorials? I do alot of pencil drawings in black & white, however, im new in regards to "colored pencils".......
Thank you so very much Langamas and I do have tutorials, including one on this kitty, available from my website at www.miniatureartbykhull.com/tutorials_36.html
Thank you Cathy - I did buy quite an expensive kit because it allows you to use a variable temperature. I also have a cheaper kit (Weller - with a set heat) that I got from our local hardware, which is still a very good kit and I have read that you can achieve a variable temperature with these kits by attaching them to a dimmer, but I'm not sure how to do that.
Good Morning. Great work, I wonder what pyrographer model used, because in Spain not so thin handles like the one shown in the video are. A greeting and thank you very much.
wow - that was incredible Karen - i really look forward to seeing your step by step process . I love the use of colour in pyrography - but i have never used ink-tense pencils??? before - is that what you used for they eye?. Just gorgeous !!!, cheers, Ruth
Thank you so very much for your lovely feedback Ruth :) I started with a base layer of Inktense pencils in the eye, then went over certain areas with coloured pencil and then used a blue biro at the end for added definition and detail :)
That is so kind of you Jim and if it helps at all I have a tutorial here that shows you how to do it www.karenhullart.com/Cat-in-Pyrography-and-Coloured-Pencil.php
