Great ideas! How about incorporating your last idea -- reaching the non-stance leg back -- while you are doing the single leg hinge? So the non-stance knee bends and you reach your foot to the ceiling: probably a good time to hold the stick or the bench with a hand for balance, or do it from the knees in quadruped. Thanks so much for consistently sharing the great content!!
You could definitely try that. The level of contraction you get and can get is a bit different, but definitely still value in exploring the combination(s) - that’s where the learning happens!
Thanks. For some reason that I don't understand, the walking version is easier for me than standing in one place and doing repetitive hinges. Maybe it's my ankle, especially my right one? It sometimes just goes out of alignment, and I had a bad twist there many years ago.
Maybe. Or it could be like riding a bike. Just sitting on a bike is wobbly and you need extra support. But when the bike is moving forward, it is very easy to balance. Maybe moving forward activates more stability in the body. I’m only imagining a reason, I really don’t know why the difference. I would think if it were your ankle though, maybe you’d still notice it while moving forward. Regardless, it’s still neat information about your body!
Are you familiar with the Nitric Oxide Dump, an exercise routine created by Dr Zach Bush? It’s designed primarily as a health enhancing sequence of movements (squat, forward arm raises, non jumping jacks and overhead pressing) done in rapid succession for 3 sets of 10-20 repetitions each. To be done 3x a day of no less than 2 hours apart in order to replenish your Nitric Oxide levels. Breathing to be strictly nasal. It’s more designed to be in addition to your normal workout but failing anything else, is far better than nothing. It capitalizes on the release of NO in your system to enhance blood flow throughout your body. It can be searched on TH-cam and I would suggest the Dr Mercola version to get the best idea of what it is and what it does. I would greatly appreciate your input on it as I have incorporated it into my day. I usually perform my 3 sets of 20 in the morning and then one or two more times a day interspersed with my usual Hindu squat/push-up workout. Would love your thoughts on this. Is this beneficial as an add on or perhaps am I possibly overdoing it as the Hindu squats and pushups probably have the same health inducing qualities with the added strength and flexibility benefits included.
Hey Joe. I’m not familiar with that - you’re the first source I’ve heard of it. However, if you enjoy it, and it allows you to feel good, go for it. I’m not sure it’s overkill, looking at the numbers. You could probably sub in Hindu squats and pushups into it, or use the method with those movements if you wanted. It may definitely be worth exploring and experimenting with.
@@TrainLikeTim Thanks Tim for your reply. Yeah, the Hindu squats and pushups will definitely remain my go to workout. Too many benefits to ever stop those. I believe the Nitric Oxide Dump certainly has health and conditioning benefits so I think the best strategy going forward is to keep my Hindu squat/push-up workout in place. One good, high rep session a day, then mornings and evenings incorporate the NOD routine to keep the blood (and nitric oxide) flowing. While anyone can benefit from it, it’s probably designed to get older and overweight folks to get some form of exercise into their life without undo impact on their joints or cardio system. Depending on how much effort you put into it though, it can be quite taxing. I perform it very quickly with muscles tensed throughout and it will work you over pretty good! Check it out when you get the chance. Thanks again for your reply and good work!
Very helpful. Working on balance, thank you ver much! Especially for the little bonus at the end.
Glad it is helpful, Annette!
Thank you for always giving us progressions. It means a lot and helps us who are rehabbing. In HIS Grip!
In His Grip!

Will it have the same effect as doing deadlift with light weights like 5,10 or 20 kg?
I’m not really sure I understand your question. You could use light loads with these alternatives though, if you wanted.
Frextras are great. Rocco not Rocky.😁
