I didn’t know you could take your dog in Home Depot. I need to try this cuz trying to take her to a pet store is way too distracting for her. She sees another dog and it’s over

You allowed to bring dogs to home depot. You can even bring your dog over to Lowes which is even better because Lowes is more dog friendly.

Can you tell us how you handle people that don't ask to pet they just reach for a dog? Before I got into training I scoffed at those leash wraps that say "please ignore me-- no petting no talking no eye contact" they seemed dramatic back then but I get it now!!! people can be so rude and it's downright dangerous and a liability. But it seems like these people come out of nowhere then things just go downhill fast for our training session when he has such a distraction and I get mad which changes the vibes with my dog who is very noticeably sensitive to my mood and vibes . Sorry to go on so long I hope I've explained well enough what I'm asking.
Love your channel, great info, handsome dogs and the human/ trainer is rather easy on the eyes too 🙃... Win win win

Teach your dog safe command. For my dog that means she goes between my legs and sits. Most people won't try to touch your dog in that position--as it's very awkward. And if they still do, put your hand up and say, "no thank you."

I have a Great Dane service dog. People are ALL the time talking to him, pointing, kissing noises, the whole gammut of bad behaviors of people in public. I've got patches that clearly state "no touching or distracting, service dog". I don't mind when folks kindly ask to pet when I'm not in a hurry.
Some handlers tell strangers a fake dog name, mine is named Odin, but when people ask, I say his name is Loki. However, I trained him to look at me when he hears "Loki" out loud. In this way, I've got a little more control over him and the distraction gets partially averted to an extent. Hope that helps!

Mine freaks out when he sees little dogs . He freaks out and screams but not in an aggressive way , it's in a playful way but most dog owners are completely braindead and usually freak out as well instead of being calm and see that the dog is not growling or showing teeth just screaming at the top of his lungs wanting to play and he's 85 pounds Mastiff pit bull mix. I'm working on it with him. Tomorrow I'm taking him outside of the dog park ( we never go to dog parks) I'm taking him on the outside by the fence on his leash so he can be next to all the little dogs and freak out as long as he wants untill he calms down. Seems like if the dog is really small and cute my boy freaks out hahahaha. I have a cat and a 12 pound Chihuahua that he is super cool and chill with , they all cuddle and sleep together....so it's frustrating when cody goes crazy out of nowhere when we cross paths with a freaking 8 pound lap dog hahaha.

Get a choke collar. Just Putting one on a dog usually will cut the problem in half. At least in most dogs. Choke collar are ok to use for good dog owners with common sense. A slight tug or pull is all it takes and the dogs behavior stats to get corrected. Also take small treats with you and when your dog gets distracted you have to make him sit , heel, lay down , and then reward him when he follows. It takes im

I have a no pull harness, a treat Fanny pack (to reward good behavior) and I use the command “leave it”. It works! Try to teach your dog “leave it” with treats first and then see how it goes when you try harder things. It works when she gets distracted by other dogs and cats (most of the time).

It's odd...We have a Home Depot and a Lowe's almost side by side. Dogs are welcomed into Lowe's, but absolutely not allowed in Home Depot. Magnus has been socialized at the Lowe's and loves shopping there with dad, especially after a good bath at the Pet Wash at Tractor Supply. Thanks Lowe's!

What if my boy is already doing well in most situations you’ve shown but he’s just reactive to other dogs, he doesn’t chase anything anymore but if they sniff his face or sniff his butt he flips out and watches the dogs weak spots, sometimes he can do his thing and is able to chill with other dogs in the vicinity. But when thee close they just have to smell each other and then gets reactive like that. Any tips? Anyone?

Why not just taking him to a park or carpark and WATCH the world go by while giving him some delicious snacks?. I think you are FLOODING that dog who is not ready for so many stimuli from the world. People, DO NOT force your dogs to sit and put up with all the things going on. Dogs are emotional beings and this ''training'' is not considering the dog's emotions. Sorry, time for old school training to catch up with modern dog training.
