I’ve been one of Seth’s subs for a looong time and I can honestly tell you that he is one of the few TH-camrs that I genuinely enjoy and learn a lot from
my top tip for removing tires: before hooking in the tyre lever, push the tyre on both sides to the inside of the rim.. the middle section of the rim is deeper thus giving the tyres more space to hop over the rim. if needed you can change a MTB tyre without the aid of any levers (being stubborn). Also, I have succesfully used old jeans as a DIY chainwhip. Enjoy!
Love the retractable badge holder idea, doing that one PRONTO!! As far as washing your helmet pads. Next time you buy armor, or something that comes in a mesh bag, use the mesh bag. The mesh bag allows better cleaning of the pads.
The flexible cutting boards work great for the fender hack. They also come in a wide range of colors and can still be cut with scissors easily. Love your hack videos Seth keep them up.
I took your advice and told my wife she owes me a future lawn mowing for tuning up her bike. She said that bill will can go straight to the collections Dept. and stay there.
Writing invoices on work orders is brilliant and I absolutely love the way to bill out family members with Chores around the houseI'm not sure that would always work but it would remind them that sometimes we're not just Screwing Off in the garage And maybe we deserve a little help around the house. And since I am now retired with a crab load of invoices unused this works great for me.
Just autoplayed at least 6 of your videos. Definitely one of the best channels I’ve seen- you absolutely kill it! From content, to camera angles, you’re videos are top shelf quality all the way around
I start eating tacos over the other tacos I've already made/ordered. By the time I get to the extra tortilla I've been cleaning up other bits that have fallen out already.
Hey Seth!, here is my story! I was about 17 miles away from my house and my tube went flat. Fortunately, I was able to find a pump to air up and see how far I could get before she went flat again. (The flat was very small, so i had about 30 minutes of ride time) Anyways the problem with the pump was, it was Schrader and I have Presta valves. So in a pinch, I found a cool hack! If you take the protection cap off of your valve and cut the top off with your knife, you can screw the cap back on and it creates a bigger seal so you can adapt a Schrader to a presta! it was very useful and got me more than halfway back to my house before i had to call for some backup! I hope you can show this in one of your hack videos! BTW my name is Seth too!!
For removing valve cores my chain tool from the multitool fits perfectly. It's the part where the chain pin gets pushed out in. Should be standard on all chain tools and it's a perfect fit on the valve core.
For evening and night rides I wear a pair of clear safety glasses. They have a removable padded insert that gives them a goggle feel and that blocks all crosswinds. No teary eyes!
Hi, I used to wear safety glasses while cycling too for the reasons you said, then I did research. Long story short, safety glasses aren't manufactured for sports. Many brands specifically say on the packaging "Not for use in sports". Depending on the manufacturer, the lenses in safety glasses may not be shatterproof (I know, right?), designed to stay on after impact nor offer UV protection. the bows aren't designed for a sport style impact, and aren't made for active style wear. So what this means is that if you're wearing them on the trail, and you get an eye injury due to the glasses cracking or coming apart on impact, you have no recourse because they specifically say "Don't do this." And this isn't going into optical clarity, that some safety glasses are meant only for indoor use, and the mass-manufactured "polarization" techniques... And people will argue that I'm wrong or a shill or whatever, hey you do you. "Any port in a storm" is fine in a pinch, but why compromise when you have access to the RIGHT tools? I'm reminded of the people who wore ski goggles to play paintball. If you don't know better, it sounds perfectly fine, until the lenses blow out on impact and you lose an eye. And that's happened far too often. I'm just sayin'.
There are literally hundreds of different types of safety glasses available. Some offer UV protection, some don't. Some are shatterproof, some aren't. Best advice is do your research on them, because there will be types suitable for biking. And cheap
Osprey makes what is IMO the best hydration pack for mountain biking, it comes with a magnet on the mouth piece which snaps onto the shoulder strap without any effort. Good tip on the squared off socket for the top cap!
Thanks Seth. I’ve been waiting for this video for about 2 weeks. I understand that your injury may have affected this, but I feel all feedback can be seen as useful. By the way I would like you to know that you are my go to biking channel.
All great hacks.Thankyou. THe bonus taco was the funniest. I am definitely going to try a few of these, especially the retractable for the hydration pack.
Ayeee, double bonus taco is mandatory. Looove your vids man! I just built a $10+k stump jumper. Always love to see good hacks and mods to make it even better. My trouble is I gained 25lbs but only managed to save 5.25lbs on the bike. Talk about and expensive weight upgrade.
haha, the "hardware and tool trap" reminds me of Christmas. Where you can buy the green wire to tie things up to your tree for $10 in a 10' roll in the xmas section. Or you buy the EXACT same type of wire for $5 on a 25' roll in the garden section. There are dozens of examples like that everywhere. Aim toward a specific buyer and it becomes many folds more expensive.
do you have any hacks for those of us that don't have a garage for storage? My bikes are currently in my living room taking up much needed floor space. Ohh and i am renting.

I got a lot of stuff from a hardware store. Hand Pump, lights Stand that can take any small flashlight, mini tool box that is far superior then any multy tool. A lot of cheap and good working stuff there.
Thanks Bret. Been using that for a few months now. Only concern is the heat in this Australian summer. I hope the tube doesn't degrade in the heat. Otherwise works great. One other bike hack I use is to have a rubber stopper in the base of the seat post. That lets me use the hollow seat post to store things I otherwise don't want found. Be it money or something to smoke after a ride. Works great.
you can take 2 or 3 tire levers, depending on your seat post size, rubber band them together, and stuff them in your seat post. Also, I zipped a compass pouch to my handlebar stem, and I can keep a multitool, patches, and extra chainlinks in there.
Hope all is going well in the healing process Seth. Another excellent Hack video! Retractable badge holder? The applications are endless! Well played subscriber X, well played.
Good hack: some of my spot lights I use for night riding slip on my metal handle bars so I cut inter tube and rap around the area on the bar where you want the light than just tape the inter tube on with electrical tape and BAM 💥 no more slipping lights
Helmet pads might be eaten by the washing machine, agree. But what do you do? Put them into something that has disappeared inside washing machines since the day washing machines were invented. Not a good hack, Seth.
Half my sockets are ground down like that to fit snugger. I notice you did it with a 12 point socket, for even better grab on those delicate aluminum nuts pick up a 6 point (like the bike specific one shown) next time. You can also pick up a set of the "impact adapters" that go from the 6 point quick change impact/driver bit style interface, to 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" socket fittings. Throw that socket on the 1/2" one, chuck it in your drill, then head to the grinder. Spin the socket with the drill while pushing it against the grinder and 1) it will grind down a lot quicker and 2) it will grind down a lot more squarely and evenly with a better/smoother finish on it. Another hack is use a zip tie tightener or other known as a "third hand tool" to pre-tension brake and shifter cables with one hand, while you use your other hand to tighten the allen bolt down to hold the cable. Garden hose holders screwed into the wall above your work bench in that dead space that's not good for anything else but posters make great tire holders. Get creative with attaching a hook of sorts to the end of a broom handle to reach up there and lift them off. At my old shop our tire sticks had bike grips on them, headtube badges, stickers, etc to make them very bike shop themed. when you trash a frame chop the headtube off and set it on the top of your bench to store pencils and pens in
