Vi’s tattoos are a representation of Powder. Vi isn’t into gears or mechanical stuff, that’s what powder’s into. She got the tattoos that reminded her of her sister.
'What does the six mean?' It's VI... her name. Vi.
Why does she have this 'Happy Progress Day thing?' They were selling them as toys to kids in the opening. The Undercity celebrates Progress Day as well. It's like the Fourth of July.

To be fair, in story it is kinda both. VI's gang number was 6(Also happened to be the last number in her prison number 516)which in Roman numerals just happens conveniently to spell out VI. Powder`s gang number was "X"(Or 10 which was was also her age at the time and what she went by as a criminal after she stopped being Powder but before she became full-on Jinx).And Ekko`s was "IX" representing him being torn between Vander and Benzo`s pragmatism and Jinx`s wild energy and revolutionary streak.

Jinx had no knowledge about the new gemstone, but she doesn't need to know about it in order to have incentive to break into the big showcase. It's an important holiday that's celebrating progress and new inventions, she's aware she'll find something impressive and useful being shown off. Obviously she lucked out with how impressive of a thing it was, but if she heard that the new scientists that do Hextech are the ones doing the talk it becomes an even safer bet that she'd find something worthwhile.
Basically she was more interested in it being a terror act rather than a heist

It was an amazing detail how when Jace makes his statement about shutting down their research for a time you see counselor M’s eyes dart and you can actually see her start running through different scenarios in her head super quickly. Then when she comes to her designed plan her eyes soften and settle only for her to immediately lay it out.
It was an great little animation moment.
Jinx/Powder is how you write and visualize insanity. They did it so good. Child trauma, rough undercity, equals insane person.
There’s a psychologist that goes through every episode and analyses and explains a lot of the concepts behind the psychology
Councilor Medarda (ms golden freckles) is one of my favorite characters in this series. She's just very interesting, somewhat enigmatic, and at times hard to get a read on. Trying to figure out just what her motives are is a fun experience, and like every other character she is very well written.
The show in general does an incredible job of presenting many viewpoints, many poeple that are good and bad on all sides of every spectrum. In the first three episodes, we had good people in the undercity e.g. Vi, Vander, etc, you have the darker side of the underworld with Silco's crew. You have the good side of the topside with the more innocent Caitlin, Victor, Jayce and Heimer, but then you also have some clearly corrupt councilors and Marcus. It's exquisitly written and doesn't paint any single broad strokes of simple good and evil, everything is complicated just like real life. I love it.
I’ve seen some people absolutely hate Mel but I like her, realistic characters should have uncertainty
I like with Mel how we don't know what to expect of her character and more suspicious of her earlier on, though when we get more of her background kinda puts things more in perspective to round her character out more.
@@adamyoung6797its because shes very easy to hate, like her mom says, shes a fox. She feels mischievous, and she kinda is, but you can see that she doesn’t do it for malicious intent. Shes just very calculating and calculating people sometimes come off as manipulative, you can actually see multiple times in the show, her eyes dart a lot and facial expressions stiffens whens shes thinking, its crazy how much detail they put into the animation.

Yall such a dorks, haha. Sometimes you have the ability to see the future and some times and notice any small detail, yet yall miss the most important stuff. Silco was mad with Jinx cause of what he talked about, like 10 min before. They are losing. Piltover is progressing at such a fast rate that anything they try to do to affect them is inconsequential. They can only submit themselves and become just small-time crime gangs and try to fund themselves with shimmer. He talks about it before Jinx inject him in the eye.

People don't really talk about the Mel Medarda character, except being thirsty over her, but it's really hard to write morally grey characters and I think she's an excellent example! A brilliant politician that likes to go for a high-risk, high-reward plays, when she feels it in her guts. Like immidiately recognizing Jayce's potential and prodding him to admit the true aim of his research. Also her family history is a good bridge to other parts of this world and it humanizes her more.
Hey guys, the time jump is approximately 7yrs. I looked it up when I 1st watched the series. The episode 4 approximate ages are: Jinx/Powder-18, Vi-22, Caitlyn-23, Jayce-31, Mel Medarda-33, Viktor-35, Silco-51 & Sevika is in her early to mid 40s. I love this series from the artwork, the acting to the writing. I'm glad to see u are loving it too. Other reactors that I have seen on TH-cam, as well as myself, have compared Jinx to Harley Quinn/a mix of Harley Quinn & the Joker. I found the child-like chalk/crayon drawings a fascinating way to show Jinx's moments of madness/disassociation. That had been w/her since she was a child walking on the bridge w/Vi in episode 1, but now it's much worse. And, of course, the nagging voice of doubt in her head is that of Mylo. Ok, now, about Vi, she has been in prison for about 7yrs. Yeah, Marcus kept her alive by doing so because Silco would have definitely killed her/had her killed. But still, she was in prison all those years.😑 Anyway, gonna definitely continue watching your reactions to ARCANE.😊👍
Also another nice detail is that there are more "non humans" in the city!

Jinx is insane, her plans aren't always the most well-thought-out. She may have been looking for the unrefined crystals, which she has used before, and gotten lucky. I'm sure she has pieced together that Jayce has been using the hex crystals to power the Hexgate, something that has made Piltover a lot of money. She likely thought she could build something as well. At the very least she could make another bomb.
Zaun is divided into multiple levels. There`s the Promenade level, that`s the highest and most well off where the Chem-Barons(A sort of mix of mob bosses, drug dealers and mad scientists mostly made up of Piltovan, Bandle City, Ionian and Noxian exiles sent to Zaun for being lowlifes and having a different vision of "Progress" than their "Topside betters").Beneath that is the Entresol level which is where the Black Market trading between the two cities happens usually near or on Progress Day. The lanes are what the areas you fight in in "League of Legends" and "League of Legends: Wild Rift" are called.("Legends of Runeterra" is where we learn Jinx was born Powder and get confirmation she`s Vi`s baby sis gone crazy due to a series of betrayals and misfortunes, Ekko also mentions "I had a crush" on Powder before "she started talking to the gun").However, the "Lanes" mentioned in Arcane are most likely "The Black Lanes" which are not so much a level of Zaun as the areas where the sewage being pumped down from Piltover are most concentrated, resulting in what is called "Zaun Grey". That`s where the water and air in Zaun is most toxic. Last but not least is the Sumps where Vi and Powder, their parents who died in Silco and Vander`s failed revolution leading the two to have a falling out, and Vander to renounce violence, Mylo, Claggor, Ekko, Benzo, Deckard and his gang, Vander and Silco were born before moving to the higher parts of Zaun closer to Piltover`s Northside to experience somewhat breathable air.Whereas most of the Zaunites have American accents, most Sumpdwellers have Dickensian Cockney accents as they`re basically the poor beggars of Piltover literally thrown out like trash.

I think it’s a comon knowledge that the progres day is happening, and also what hexgates are and who invented them - Jace’s face is plastered all over the city and they probably advertise that he is giving the speach. and when Jinx is talking to ‚Milo’ I think she looks at the toy from progres day promotion, and I’m sure she put 2+2 together: if Jace is making the speech he will have some big invention to show, that’s why she broke into that speaking hall not the lab ;)
Also powder has vi’s bunny, vanders pipe, cloggers googles, and dummy of mylo.
The lanes, underground, undercity, Zaun, the fissures, the trench, the slums .There's a lot of names for the poor side of the city.
The most official is Zaun, in the lore that was the original name for both sides, then an incident happened that sunk half the city, and the uppercity became Piltover.
Yeah, the questions you're asking about how the show will unfold confirm this is going to be a good reaction series.

That's something to keep in mind when contemplating Silco's motivation.
Not crazy, powder just had a lot of pressure from her friends when she was a kid, schizophrenic, has a lot of trauma that silco decided to harness and arm her with combat lessons/ bombs. Said she sees demons of the people she lost and sometimes she shoots someone thinking its them. It’s similar to teenager shooting to realest stress but on a extreme level. It’s why people call her jinx. It’s really messed up

The Oxford dictionary defines "crazy" as mentally deranged. So what he's saying isn't necessarily wrong, just the use term comes off often as insensitive for the colloquium of it. Regardless, how ever you phrase it, Jinx is mentally disturbed.

It's a 6/7 years times skip, confirmed by one of the writers.
Vi pre-times skip was around 14-16 years old and Powder is 3 years younger.
i thought it was 7-8 years since Jayce was 24 and he's now 31-32
Doesn't make sense.
Vi clearly states in ep. 5 that Powder "could do that since she was 7" referring to jumping between the buildings. And the first time that happened was in the first scene after the intro, so Powder was 7 then.
@@Peace_Guard Characters throughout the season say a lot of things that misrepresent the past because their memories are unreliable and idealize their past. Vi especially idealizes Powder a lot and can't let go of what she remembers as an idealized version of Powder. The very first scene of episode 1, before everything goes to shit within a couple days, very clearly shows that Powder was not capable of jumping around rooftops up to that point and would've fallen to her death if Vi didn't catch her. Vi telling Caitlyn "my little sister could do that when she was 7" after casually parkouring through Zaun is a straight up lie.

@@InstantSilenceIf a parkour pro would say "I did it since I was 7", he wouldn't mean he was as proficient back then as he is now, but that it was then his first try. Vi says it in the same sense. How proficient Powder was at her first try we all saw, I agree she could've died. But it still is the scene Vi refers to.

**takes off tinfoil hat** Anyway, great reaction. You guys know how to dig into the material a little deeper than most reactors and are both very perceptive. Its fun to watch you guys figure it out/make predictions.
This is one of those rare stories that reveals itself more through visuals and symbolism than through dialogue. Whatever you think you noticed in the first viewing, there's 10x more and it goes several levels deeper. It's actually kind of crazy once you start digging into it. The amount of thought that went into every detail is just genuinely impressive.
That being said, it's not flawless, and not every scene is great. I personally wish it wasn't always in so much of a hurry. It's almost disorienting. But overall, damn. So good.

VI is prisoner 516, there's a theory that the VI tattoo is V + I = VI or 5 + 1 = 6.
It's a stretch but people spent years trying to figure it out from the game without confirmation.
