Sadly this game was absolutely bashed by the media at launch, servers didn't work and people stated the graphics as "fake" and outdated in textures. The game only started to gain proper praise in 2017 and onwards.
@FDGranturismo the game looked the same at launch, however media portrayal kinda made people to believe the visuals were outdated. I guess that's the case with tdusc too because that game looks amazing on pc but because on console and media portrayal it looks bad.
@Kortex_Racing Well if the game looked the same at launch it is even more strange and sad... I wanted to buy TDUSC at launch but I play too many games as it is, and I just have no time for an other open world racer 😅 Maybe later
I regret myself so much by not buying this game before it got delisted. I bought a physical copy only when it was not possible to buy the DLCs anymore, I wanted them so much. This game is a masterpiece

Funny how everyone hated Driveclub when it came out and now love it and wish for more of it, just like people did with Driver: San Francisco when that came out, and Need For Speed: Heat, and just like what they'll probably do with Need For Speed: Unbound
@@bobmarley6306 Unbound is not a bad game. I am having a great time with it since launch. Unfortunetaly I didn't play Driveclub when it came out because I didn't have a PS4. But later I got it and I absolutely loved it!
I still play this almost daily. I used to own WR times for a few tracks. I was and still am very proud of it 😊 this was the very first game I played when I purchased my PS5 Pro. By far my favorite racing title ever. Dirt 2.0 right behind it.
Congrats on the WR times mate! I don't play it every day, but I come back to it from time to time. I fully finished the car races, but I still have to do the bikes ones.
It would look worse unless they completely revamped the graphics. This game has already nailed the lighting so the things we should improve are LOD, resolution and framerate.
RT reflection, shadows and lighting do need a total revamp...but u are right that highter resolution and framerate will totally change the experience too.
It makes you think that some details of the cars have not been seen again in a car racing game (such as the "rainbow effect" of the headlights or the different dashboards for each vehicle fully represented) until the arrival of the imminent Assetto Corsa Evo later this month lol
Heres a few more details. Graphically, Driveclub has the same features you'd find on GT7 but only when it's running on the PS5 Pro with RT or Forza Horizon 5 with RT in the showroom. Wings reflect the car body and the car body reflects the wing, wings also create shadows that land on the car. The side mirror in third person shows the rear view and the cars paint shows the a relfection of the side mirror with the reflection of the side mirror inside the car paint reflection. Car paint reflects the whole world and other cars too, usually it doesn't include other cars. Wheels reflect the glowing brakes. Taillights get reflected on the bumper or its own housing. Reflections are so high res in photo mode that it could be mistaken for RT.
Graphicaly DC looks so much FH4 (but a little dated in some things, like in this part 6:27) , even the asphalt textures seem to be the same XD I would have liked DriveClub to have become a rival franchise to Forza and GT... but unfortunately, the game's marketing was bad
@andrededecraf Actually some of the devs that worked on Driveclub moved over to Forza. This is why I think Driveclub could have been what Forza is today. Just maybe a bit better and more serious.
@andrededecraf Driveclub is definitely dated. I'd say GT7 looks way better but Driveclub just has that entire cinematic or hyperrealistic aesthetic that Forza Horizon doesn't go for because that's more of a joyful festival vibe. Where Driveclub feels dated the most is interiors, hands look like plastic, some things get bright but they don't exactly shine so metal parts like in the Huayra sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the other materials inside. Terrain on the map can look somewhat flat because of the neutral shading but that's probably a good thing because their dealing with the limitations of a base PS4, so the opposite happens instead where it doesn't stick out unless observed. Yapping section: I'd say Driveclub is one of those unique games that's hard to compare to other games because of their entire aesthetic. Driveclub goes for that "shot in New York in a dark alleywey DC Comic movies aesthetic". While Forza Horizon is looks more like a "comedy movie set at the beach with popular actors" look. Driveclub looks like what happens if you take those PS4 exclusive story rich linear experience like Order 1886 and turn it into a racing game while Forza Horizon is exactly a open world GTA style game but without the foot traversal or shooting. It's hyperrealism really helps hide the fact it's a PS4 game. Modest exaggeration. Motion blur hides imperfections but improves the feel. The hypersensitive eyes make going in and out of tunnels much more dangerous and cool. The bright sparks and bright brake glow shows off it's dynamic lighting and saturated colours on bright lights and brake disc glow against a relatively neutral tone everything else makes it that much cooler. There's no HDR so just blow out the highlights instead.

This game is only not on the market today because of the terrible marketing from sony it had and because it came at 30fps at the beginning of the generation, which for many, is something negative.
Yeah it was frowned upon by many when it came out but I think people and the media judged it too harshly... If sony marketed it better, maybe Driveclub would be a franchise today. And not a cancelled misunderstood masterpiece. It could have been the "Forza Horizon" for Sony serving an exclusive arcady racer.
If anyone knows how to get all the DLC for this game (I mean all of them), then I would be very grateful if you could spill the beans. I suspect jailbreaking is the only option tbh, but I'm wondering if there is some way of doing it via USB drive or something
The entire time watching this, I couldn’t help but think “that’s cool, if only they spent 1/4 of the effort they spent on a flock of flamingoes on actually making it a good game” I bought it when it first came out (mostly due to no other racing games on the PS4) and even then I couldn’t really bring myself to play it all that much… I don’t even remember anything about it other than “wow, the rain looks cool”
It's not a shit but not a masterpiece either. Graphics were great but controls weren't as good as I would have hoped (Forza Horizon and PGR2 and PGR3 had way better handling) and difficulty was bit too hard to my liking. 8/10
