    The biggest problem the BBC has now is most young people today get their media content via mobile devices rather than television.
    Whether it's through social media or commercial news channels that 24/7 live stream on TH-cam or streaming services for films like Netflix and Amazon.
    This is the new way that people (mostly the younger generation) consume their content, so we're getting to a point where the TV license funding for the BBC is starting to out live its usefulness.

    I pay my licence fee because a privatised BBC would just be another advertising driven and right wing publisher. Your coverage is good, but lacks context. Maggie Thatcher was not as popular as you make out, since the Tories had gerrymandered the boundaries and even removed, renamed or destroyed historic counties. First past the post meant she got in (the first time) without a majority of the vote. Also, you don't talk about any of the content of the Panorama programmes. You criticise the BBC for a false impartiality over science, but assume that a flagship current affairs programme is not supposed to hold the Government of the day to account. Finally, you don't seem to remember the Miners' Strike - where Thatcher used the (supposedly non-partisan) Police as a paramilitary force for strike-breaking. Footage of a Mounted Police charge against Miners was "accidentally" edited to make it look as if Miners provoked the charge rather than their acts being an attempt to prevent their members from being run down. It is another example of BBC "corruption", but it was not anti-Thatcher.
    I am appalled at the way the BBC "impartiality" meant that spurious political arguments were given air time over Brexit and at the way the BBC has given in to Tory pressure or speaks with an obvious Tory voice, e.g.; Laura Kuenssberg's reaction to the statement that Boris Johnson lied. Nevertheless, the BBC is much better than the alternative. During my lifetime, ITV has given up almost all pretence of being about public broadcasting - they lobbied for a relaxation of the rules - the Tories gave it to them and they are struggling and want the BBC to be defunded. If we lose a national public service broadcaster we won't get it back. Perhaps you should show some of the things the BBC has done for the national good? "Cathy Come Home" is a good starting point, as are Panorama programmes on Care Homes, etc.
    On the other side, instead of helping the Tories trash a potential critic, why not look at the corruption of the mainstream media? The News of the World? The Sun and Hillsborough? The all out bias of the Telegraph and Mail - the Mail was aggressive in its anti-Semitic rhetoric in the 1930s, even wanting to deny entry to those fleeing the Holocaust and they are bringing that sort of language up again. Or are you only interested in having a go at the BBC? That's all I can see for your channel.

    • @knoxy6884
      @knoxy6884 ปีที่แล้ว

      Although I agree with 90% of what you've said, I still don't feel that we need a national public service broadcaster who is incredibly biased and does not provide impartial public service broadcasting that it claims to do. The BBC have predominantly leaned right-wing for years so what difference would it make if they were commercially privatized?
      The fact is the current and newer generations do not use the BBC and feel it is outdated and biased. The newer generations favour subscription services like Netflix and Amazon Prime or simply watch TH-cam. The only reason the BBC do not want to be privately owned is because they know they're financially better off being publicly funded. They could still sell advertising but also have a public service remit, like Channel 4 currently do.
      I do however share your admiration for the Panorama programming but after the Bashir scandal I was left sickened that a national broadcaster would steep so low. However not surprising as they have been a disgrace of a corporation for many years now.

    I don't think letting people disagreeing with climate change talk is corrupt, people just don't like the "accept this one and only version of events else you are a bad person" but its one of many complicated things.

    • @charleshayes2528
      @charleshayes2528 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think that is quite right. When it comes to scientific processes, it is not a matter of opinion - unless you can show evidence that "climate change" isn't happening or is caused by something other than human action. Just denying or disagreeing with climate change talk isn't enough to give you air time, you have to put forward a robust case. In this instance, the vast majority of scientists agree that the evidence supports their view. That is not too complicated. Knowing the best way of dealing with it is where it gets more difficult.
