It's cheap and easy to make your own frog lube. It takes about 30 frogs to make an ounce. The first cold pressed oil makes the best lube. You can get another ounce or so by gently heating the press. The native American Indians were the first to use frog lube.
I used gunzilla on a mil surplus rifle last year to help get cosmoline out of the barrel. It seemed to do ok, but I did notice a orange/yellowish color on a few patches that I ran through a couple of months later before getting ready to shoot the gun. At the time I thought that it was some last remnants of cosmo, but after seeing this, I'm thinking that it might very well have been the gunzilla that changed color. Regardless, the barrel was rust-free and shiny after a brief cleaning.
I worked in a powder coating shop for about 2 years as a prep. Most common metals need to be heated to 750-850 degrees, to technically start changing the structure of the metal in order to open the "so called pores" For optimal adhesion. SO WHO CARES, I don't think a person is going to put their gun in the oven! Fred! you do what you do! If you weren't good at it, you wouldn't have such a great channel! Have a great holidays! (I hope that made sense? it was meant as a compliment)
Interesting... Seems the untreated parts of the plate were not affected at all by the weather so far. In fact if anything Gunzilla increased or caused the the metal plate to become defective. Thoughts?
you're right Fred. Although I love and greatly look forward to your vids, 2 a week keeps me on the edge of my seat wanting more. Keep up the great work!!!
Signs of rust or oxidation. This leads me to believe that with modern finishes such as blueing or using metals like stainless you should never have a rust issue if you take care of it. A better test would be for lubrisity but without the proper equipment might be a little tougher.
I enjoy your vids and have watched your Plate of Truth series with interest as I was in the process of buying my first handgun. However, I wonder if these test are valid representations of the product. I say this because as I cleaned and lubed my handgun for the first time I decided to clean and lube my shotgun that has been in a soft case virtually undisturbed for the last 10 years under my bed. The last time it was cleaned and lubed I used Remoil. The metal was totally dry and had no
Awesome and I can't wait for the videos. I really enjoy your videos. I use to live in Maryland and was a Terrapin. Most of father's family lives in Maryland. My family settled in Maryland when we immigrated from South Korea. God I miss steamed blue crabs. My uncle use to have a fish market and my father took me to go catch crabs in the Chesapeake.
Fred are you going to do a heat test on these products like your other heat test videos? I would love to see how FrogLube and M-Pro 7 would do in a heat test.
All metal has microscopic fissures. Not pores like skin AFAK. If you use a wheel brush on stainless steel that had been contaminated w high carbon steel the stainless usually starts rusting because it has been impregnated. I would assume that any product that can go into the fissures and seal them and stay there after the carrier had evaporated might do ok. I use EEZOX
At first, I was sceptical about Frog Lube-- I'm a Ballistol guy. I have to admit, it's gotten my attention! My wife HATES the smell of Ballistol, so I might have to try Frog Lube. Thanks for doing these tests. I'm looking forward to the results of the... Little Plate of Hot Truth (?).
man your into vaping guns and knives everything i live for and love remember me the bear grllys conversation either way love your channel and keep it up brother your the best love this review i bought lucas like 10 minutes ago on amazon so looking for a couple reviews and found your right on keep on cranking the reviews out!!!
looks like all the oils performed really good except the Gunzilla brand,,i personally use Outers gun oil 85% of the time and when I'm out of that I will use Hoppe's gun, oil I've used the Outers gun oil since the late 1980s and I've never had a problem with it or the Hoppe's either and I love the way Outers oil smells too,,I've been told by some old timers that Outers oil makes a gun smell like a gun is supposed too? I also have been told that 3 in 1 oil is a great gun lube? I used to oil my BB guns with it when I was a kid it worked good on them may need to try it on a real gun too? thx for the good review
I bought some about a year ago and anymore it's the only oil I use on my G19 and my Colt AR. I love it. You can really feel the difference in how the metal parts "glide" against each other.

call the small plate - truth Jr.
Call the small plate of trooth, "Baby plate of truth"
I would like to see you do a test with drugstore mineral oil to see how it compares, my bet is it will do as well as the fancy expensive lubes.
Surprising that Rem oil is actually worth consideration!

This test don’t mean anything for what’s the lbe to keep a gun running after heat is applied
Call it the "Plate of Frog!" Or, call it "Frog Tartar meets Frog Flambé".
I don't use any oil that has to be shaken. If it separates in the bottle, whats to say it won't separate after applied?
