I don't like metal either. But in my humble opinion (56 from the UK) Band-Maid are the best current rock band on the planet. And believe me I've been into rock for decades and seen the best, these ladies are also the best all round band I have ever heard. Their song writing skills are off the chart. Their musicianship is top notch. They don't stick to any genre, though they can get really heavy bordering on Metal they are always melodic. You will hear Punk, Pop, classic Rock, Blues, Prog, groove and Jazz from them, sometimes in the same song. They can melt your face off or make grown men cry. Oh, and they are wonderful people with absolutely no ego's, nice, charming and funny who adore their fans. And we adore them back. They are a live band, you really need to witness them in front of an audience, I recommend the official live video's of either 'Domination', 'Play', 'Real Existence', or 'Freedom'. Band Maid, despite being called metal all the time by people, are a rock band. They call themselves a rock band. So don’t worry about not being a big fan of metal… some Band Maid songs may be too heavy for you but most probably won’t. Rock/hard rock is where they are mostly.
They call themselves a Hard Rocking band, not necessarily a Hard Rock band, It's hard to describe what they exactly are as there are Metal elements to their song, but also Funk, Punk, Jazz, the Blues... just call it Band-Maid. I'll argue when people say Metal they mean it in the traditional Heavy Metal sense, as in like Black Sabath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden...etc and not in the sense of the current extreme variations of Metal that is popular now and what most people seem to associate with the term Metal. In fact if those bands released the same music today as they did in the 70's people would call them a Hard Rock band despite being the leading bands of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement.

It's very deliberate. Watch their very first music video. They have children's music in the intro and then blow it up in an explosion and the metal kicks in. That is not an attempt at balance.
@@Jordan-Ramses I have all of BabyMetal's Music... so I'm not unfamiliar with their music. I guess I phrased what I was meaning wrong as I've been busy all day. But yes that contrast is what they're looking for... To me it's fun music that I play on occasion, it's in my all songs shuffle in the car. But I guess it's not entirely my jam since discovering Band-Maid, that is music I can play over and over again.
Japanese Band Maid, lead by Guitarist/ composer Kanami could play any other band off the stage. They are hugely talented musicians who have developed their own genre and are equally adapt at full rock or acoustic. Their concerts are legendary. Listen to their range of music and stop saying metal.

Great honest reaction. Band-Maid is not a heavy metal band, they are a rock band more I n the mold of Guns & Roses. Like all the great rock bands, they pull in influences from metal, prog-rock, punk, pop-punk, straight rock and pop-rock. The principal composer, lead guitarist Kanami Tono, is a huge Carlos Santana fan, for example. They’ve mentioned influences as varied as The Beatles, Hendrix, Smashing Pumpkins, Deep Purple, The Pixies, Metallic, Queen and lots of Japanese rock bands, ofc. The founder, rhythm guitarist and second vocals, Miku Kobato, was in a 3-girl pop idol group and has a pop side project called “Cluppo”. Lead Singer, Saiki Atsumi, was a singer/dancer. Bassist MISA (just MISA), loves Paz Lenchantin of The Pixies & Smashing Pumpkins but grew up with her mom playing Hendrix, Marvin Gaye and The Beatles. Drummer Akane Hirose has a fan in Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin and she likes Maximum The Hormone & Ian Pace of Deep Purple. They use it all and have songs across all the genres. The song that launched them is “Thrill”, see official MV, which I think you’ll appreciate even though it’s a pretty heavy riff. Then see them live - you’d definitely like “Freedom” - official live video - it’s a poppier, rock anthem with a surprise. “Domination” - official live video - is a reaction standard - great performance across the board - has its heavy moments. Thrill was their first MV and is often the entry to Band Maid world followed by Domination Live. Alone is very important to fans as it was the first song totally written and arranged by them that their record label accepted and it's been 99% Band Maid ever since (Kanami is primarily the composer but everyone does their bit). YOLO is technically their oldest song as Kanami composed it before Band Maid existed. Fans will say choose any song, it doesn't matter because they don't make bad songs, if possible go for live versions as they are another level to their already brilliant studio work. As I'm sure others will point out they are a rock band not metal and produce everything from ballads to hard rock, it seems you may prefer their less heavy stuff so I suggest About Us, Daydreaming, Page, Wonderland, Anemone, Awkward, Smile, Time, Start Over and Manners (live) to name a few.

Good reaction! Band-Maid from Japan is one of the most accomplished bands around with a huge following worldwide. They usually intersperse their native Japanese with English lyrics and often have subtitles on their music videos. However, for a purely instrumental demonstration of Band-Maid's musical genius and prowess, please listen to their outstanding composition entitled "Onset." For a sample of how incredibly good and entertaining they are in a live performance, please listen to the official live versions of "Domination" or "Freedom" or "Puzzle." Actually, they have over 100 great songs to choose from plus several featured in Anime shows. Just as an aside, the song "Choose Me" was played by Band-Maid in the 2021 Netflix movie "Kate" where the band made an appearance in the film.
The language barrier can be odd at first, but after a few songs you kind of stop noticing, and just enjoy the vocals for how they sound. It can then come as a surprise to see the lyrics and realise how much is in English - probably around 20% of most songs. For a next song, I'll suggest "Dice" which is one of the few where the music video is best. It's on their channel.

Band-Maid are Japanese, not Indonesian. If it is an Indonesian all-girl hard rock/metal band you're looking for, that would be Voice of Baceprot, an all-girl power trio who are breaking barriers in Muslim culture and have a ton of talent to share. They bring a funk/jazz/reggae/metal fusion that is heavily influenced by Rage Against the Machine.

"Thrill" would be the next logical step as you want to see how they started. Then, do anything else by Band-Maid, particlularly live performances ("Onset", "Freedom", "Play", etc.), but don't sleep on their MVs, as they are excellent as well ("Manners", "Blooming", "Daydreaming"). Daydreaming, the live version is one of my favorites. TH-camr evil corkin has an excellent reaction video of it. Most of their live performances are great. I also like Turn Me On, Take Me Higher, Manners, Domination, Freedom, Onset, etc. (all the live versions)

My introduction 6 months ago were "Thrill" and "Manners", But every new song becomes my favorite song. They incorporate all the best "Classic Rock" elements into their music and like the Best Progressive bands of the past are always striving to get better.
I dont like metal too... Band-Maid is the perfect mix for me... Heavy, poppy, rock with insane musicianship and memorable lines/solos. I was only listening to DnB, because rock was literally dead IMO, but these ladies brought me back to it and i am thankful for that!

MAIDs aren't metal. Anyone who says they are doesn't know what metal is. They're pop/punk to hard rock. I suggest watching anything that's live ( with an audience ), first, then music videos and then "live" without an audience ( they have these because of Covid ). These girls are at their best when they're in front of a crowd and feeding off the MAIDIACs ( fans ) energy.

Your expression at Akane's fills on drums and Kanami's guitar solos sums up The Maids. The women have a significant following all around the world supposedly in over 60 countries. Yes it is different and they have a real niche market following but once you listen to more of their catalogue you'll realise how talented these ladies are. Misa on bass is a fan fav. Choose Me was released with the song Daydreaming and it's named as 1 of fans (Maidiacs) favourites. It's Kanami's creation and her favourite as well. It's a really beautiful power ballad and 1 I think you'll like. Miku on rhythm guitar thought of the concept after working as a maid in a dedicated maid cafe. Her backing vocals on Daydreaming are something else and are quite beautiful. Something that really brings emotion into the piece. Brought many a man to tears. The band is very unique. Alone was the first song Kanami wrote in 2017 and is another worth listening to.
"Thrill" (2013) had to be the introducing song but still not too late. Live show is unreal,much better than studio,songs like "Domination","Onset" or "Play" are epic.

the term metal band seems to be applied randomly. bands like Motorhead and AC/DC have been called metal and the members say they're just rock 'n roll. Motorhead is much heavier tonally and slightly faster than what many people will call rock 'n roll and many cannot recognize that AC/DC is blues based rock

This is a great song but a bit commercial to me. I recommend Anemone, Wonderland, Moratorium, about us, Mirage, Page, Bubble, Blooming, etc and that makes you think, wow this is different!

'dice' is also one of their most popular mv's and a fan favorite. the song kicks so much ass that donkeys around the world have gone into hiding. and they are much more of a hard rock band as opposed to metal. with an occasional punk sound with amazing musicianship all around

Band-Maid are hard rock, not metal. You might enjoy some of their "lighter" songs, like "Daydreaming", "About Us" (their love song to the fans they missed seeing during Covid), "Memorable" (a recent song of appreciation for their American fans during a recent tour there), "Catharsis" acoustic version (from their Christmas Day 2021 concert with acoustic guitars, and no maid outfits!), "The Dragon Cries" (all in English, produced by Tony Visconti), "Gion-Cho" (a beautiful April First prank where they dressed as apprentice geisha ("maiko") and pretended to change their style and their outfits and their name to "Band-Maiko"). But I also recommend "Domination" (live version) -- this is very typical Band-Maid.and shows off their stage and musical skills. If you like Domination, you will like most of Band-Maid music -- they do harder, they do softer, but Domination is right at the centre of their style range.
You really don't need lyrics with Band-Maid...it's all about the music. Band-Maid is not a "Metal" band, they are multi-genre. They can do very hard like "RINNE" or bring it down like "About Us" and bring a tear to your eye. Either way they always deliver wonderful performances. I think you'll enjoy "Manners"official music video, not the official live version the video itself is masterfully done and it's a great straight four Rocker.....lyrics be damned! "Domination LIVE" and "Daydreaming" are their more popular.

Before Yesterday, the nonfiction days, start over, daydreaming would be my recommendations. mid-speed and more poppy in sound. the band is more rock-genre than metal overall, but can cross into heavy metal when they feel like it.

Welcome to the MAIDIAC community. These 5 ladies are some of the best singers, song writers/composers, on the planet in my humble opinion. In 2016, they performed in Japan. In the audience that evening was Jimmy Page; he was so impressed with the Drummer, Akane Hirose, that he insisted on getting a photo 📸 with her. When her band mates informed her, she thought they were pranking her until he entered their dressing room. Best live songs: Domination, Freedom, Don't You Tell Me, Play, Choose Me. It looks like you play Bass. Check out the hands of their Bassist MISA on the song Domination (Live). Look at the 2:15 - 3:00 minutes marks. I don't like metal either. But in my humble opinion (56 from the UK) Band-Maid are the best current rock band on the planet. And believe me I've been into rock for decades and seen the best, these ladies are also the best all round band I have ever heard. Their song writing skills are off the chart. Their musicianship is top notch. They don't stick to any genre, though they can get really heavy bordering on Metal they are always melodic. You will hear Punk, Pop, classic Rock, Blues, Prog, groove and Jazz from them, sometimes in the same song. They can melt your face off or make grown men cry. Oh, and they are wonderful people with absolutely no ego's, nice, charming and funny who adore their fans. And we adore them back.
They are a live band, you really need to witness them in front of an audience, I recommend the official live video's of either 'Domination', 'Play', 'Real Existence', or 'Freedom'.

Band Maid, despite being called metal all the time by people, are a rock band. They call themselves a rock band. So don’t worry about not being a big fan of metal… some Band Maid songs may be too heavy for you but most probably won’t. Rock/hard rock is where they are mostly.
They call themselves a Hard Rocking band, not necessarily a Hard Rock band, It's hard to describe what they exactly are as there are Metal elements to their song, but also Funk, Punk, Jazz, the Blues... just call it Band-Maid. I'll argue when people say Metal they mean it in the traditional Heavy Metal sense, as in like Black Sabath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden...etc and not in the sense of the current extreme variations of Metal that is popular now and what most people seem to associate with the term Metal. In fact if those bands released the same music today as they did in the 70's people would call them a Hard Rock band despite being the leading bands of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement.
I'd say they are a fusion band. There is a lot of pop influence. Almost as much as Babymetal. It's just more subtle.

@@roygillotti4615 why? People like heavy music. What they are doing is going for a contrast. The opposite of balance. It's supposed to be a little weird. You either like the contrast or you don't. It's very deliberate. Watch their very first music video. They have children's music in the intro and then blow it up in an explosion and the metal kicks in. That is not an attempt at balance.
@@Jordan-Ramses I have all of BabyMetal's Music... so I'm not unfamiliar with their music. I guess I phrased what I was meaning wrong as I've been busy all day. But yes that contrast is what they're looking for... To me it's fun music that I play on occasion, it's in my all songs shuffle in the car. But I guess it's not entirely my jam since discovering Band-Maid, that is music I can play over and over again.
Japanese Band Maid, lead by Guitarist/ composer Kanami could play any other band off the stage. They are hugely talented musicians who have developed their own genre and are equally adapt at full rock or acoustic. Their concerts are legendary. Listen to their range of music and stop saying metal.
Band Maid are one of many exceptional all female Japanese bands. They are very lyrical and not as heavy as many but great musicians.

‘Thrill’ is the song/video that saved BAND-MAID. The record company was planning to drop them but this video generated so many views the band was revived. Most of the views were from Mexico and it was the first country the band played in overseas.

Great honest reaction. Band-Maid is not a heavy metal band, they are a rock band more I n the mold of Guns & Roses. Like all the great rock bands, they pull in influences from metal, prog-rock, punk, pop-punk, straight rock and pop-rock. The principal composer, lead guitarist Kanami Tono, is a huge Carlos Santana fan, for example. They’ve mentioned influences as varied as The Beatles, Hendrix, Smashing Pumpkins, Deep Purple, The Pixies, Metallic, Queen and lots of Japanese rock bands, ofc.
The founder, rhythm guitarist and second vocals, Miku Kobato, was in a 3-girl pop idol group and has a pop side project called “Cluppo”.
Lead Singer, Saiki Atsumi, was a singer/dancer. Bassist MISA (just MISA), loves Paz Lenchantin of The Pixies & Smashing Pumpkins but grew up with her mom playing Hendrix, Marvin Gaye and The Beatles.
Drummer Akane Hirose has a fan in Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin and she likes Maximum The Hormone & Ian Pace of Deep Purple.
They use it all and have songs across all the genres.
The song that launched them is “Thrill”, see official MV, which I think you’ll appreciate even though it’s a pretty heavy riff.
Then see them live - you’d definitely like “Freedom” - official live video - it’s a poppier, rock anthem with a surprise.
“Domination” - official live video - is a reaction standard - great performance across the board - has its heavy moments.
Ballad - “Daydreaming” - official MV
“Wonderland” - official live video - a vocal & compositional masterpiece
“Onset” - official live video - instrumental

Thrill was their first MV and is often the entry to Band Maid world followed by Domination Live. Alone is very important to fans as it was the first song totally written and arranged by them that their record label accepted and it's been 99% Band Maid ever since (Kanami is primarily the composer but everyone does their bit). YOLO is technically their oldest song as Kanami composed it before Band Maid existed. Fans will say choose any song, it doesn't matter because they don't make bad songs, if possible go for live versions as they are another level to their already brilliant studio work. As I'm sure others will point out they are a rock band not metal and produce everything from ballads to hard rock, it seems you may prefer their less heavy stuff so I suggest About Us, Daydreaming, Page, Wonderland, Anemone, Awkward, Smile, Time, Start Over and Manners (live) to name a few.

Good reaction! Band-Maid from Japan is one of the most accomplished bands around with a huge following worldwide. They usually intersperse their native Japanese with English lyrics and often have subtitles on their music videos. However, for a purely instrumental demonstration of Band-Maid's musical genius and prowess, please listen to their outstanding composition entitled "Onset." For a sample of how incredibly good and entertaining they are in a live performance, please listen to the official live versions of "Domination" or "Freedom" or "Puzzle." Actually, they have over 100 great songs to choose from plus several featured in Anime shows. Just as an aside, the song "Choose Me" was played by Band-Maid in the 2021 Netflix movie "Kate" where the band made an appearance in the film.

The language barrier can be odd at first, but after a few songs you kind of stop noticing, and just enjoy the vocals for how they sound. It can then come as a surprise to see the lyrics and realise how much is in English - probably around 20% of most songs. For a next song, I'll suggest "Dice" which is one of the few where the music video is best. It's on their channel.

BAND-MAID is celebrating its 9th year of formation. BAND was formed by a girl who came to Tokyo from a local city Kumamoto of Japan to become a singer when she was about 19 years old. Five unique and talented girls gathered. The members have not changed, and they are continuing their efforts to improve their playing ability. They are constantly writing new songs and cool songs. Three new songs were released at the end of October.

Band-Maid are Japanese, not Indonesian. If it is an Indonesian all-girl hard rock/metal band you're looking for, that would be Voice of Baceprot, an all-girl power trio who are breaking barriers in Muslim culture and have a ton of talent to share. They bring a funk/jazz/reggae/metal fusion that is heavily influenced by Rage Against the Machine.

"Thrill" would be the next logical step as you want to see how they started. Then, do anything else by Band-Maid, particlularly live performances ("Onset", "Freedom", "Play", etc.), but don't sleep on their MVs, as they are excellent as well ("Manners", "Blooming", "Daydreaming"). Daydreaming, the live version is one of my favorites. TH-camr evil corkin has an excellent reaction video of it. Most of their live performances are great. I also like Turn Me On, Take Me Higher, Manners, Domination, Freedom, Onset, etc. (all the live versions)

My introduction 6 months ago were "Thrill" and "Manners", But every new song becomes my favorite song. They incorporate all the best "Classic Rock" elements into their music and like the Best Progressive bands of the past are always striving to get better.
I dont like metal too... Band-Maid is the perfect mix for me... Heavy, poppy, rock with insane musicianship and memorable lines/solos.
I was only listening to DnB, because rock was literally dead IMO, but these ladies brought me back to it and i am thankful for that!

MAIDs aren't metal. Anyone who says they are doesn't know what metal is. They're pop/punk to hard rock. I suggest watching anything that's live ( with an audience ), first, then music videos and then "live" without an audience ( they have these because of Covid ). These girls are at their best when they're in front of a crowd and feeding off the MAIDIACs ( fans ) energy.
You are right about one thing- I Definitely don't know Metal! lol. But I keep an open mind and continue to be impressed! Your expression at Akane's fills on drums and Kanami's guitar solos sums up The Maids. The women have a significant following all around the world supposedly in over 60 countries. Yes it is different and they have a real niche market following but once you listen to more of their catalogue you'll realise how talented these ladies are. Misa on bass is a fan fav.
Choose Me was released with the song Daydreaming and it's named as 1 of fans (Maidiacs) favourites. It's Kanami's creation and her favourite as well. It's a really beautiful power ballad and 1 I think you'll like.
Miku on rhythm guitar thought of the concept after working as a maid in a dedicated maid cafe. Her backing vocals on Daydreaming are something else and are quite beautiful. Something that really brings emotion into the piece. Brought many a man to tears.
The band is very unique. Alone was the first song Kanami wrote in 2017 and is another worth listening to.
They are Japanese, not Indonesian.

the term metal band seems to be applied randomly. bands like Motorhead and AC/DC have been called metal and the members say they're just rock 'n roll. Motorhead is much heavier tonally and slightly faster than what many people will call rock 'n roll and many cannot recognize that AC/DC is blues based rock

'dice' is also one of their most popular mv's and a fan favorite. the song kicks so much ass that donkeys around the world have gone into hiding. and they are much more of a hard rock band as opposed to metal. with an occasional punk sound with amazing musicianship all around

Nice reaction - I appreciate honesty and I'm glad you want to try more. Given what you said about your tastes, I'd recommend Freedom (live) or Thrill next. Band-Maid draw from almost every genre under the Sun but those two songs are straight-down-the-middle hard rock.

Band-Maid are hard rock, not metal. You might enjoy some of their "lighter" songs, like "Daydreaming", "About Us" (their love song to the fans they missed seeing during Covid), "Memorable" (a recent song of appreciation for their American fans during a recent tour there), "Catharsis" acoustic version (from their Christmas Day 2021 concert with acoustic guitars, and no maid outfits!), "The Dragon Cries" (all in English, produced by Tony Visconti), "Gion-Cho" (a beautiful April First prank where they dressed as apprentice geisha ("maiko") and pretended to change their style and their outfits and their name to "Band-Maiko"). But I also recommend "Domination" (live version) -- this is very typical Band-Maid.and shows off their stage and musical skills. If you like Domination, you will like most of Band-Maid music -- they do harder, they do softer, but Domination is right at the centre of their style range.

You really don't need lyrics with Band-Maid...it's all about the music. Band-Maid is not a "Metal" band, they are multi-genre. They can do very hard like "RINNE" or bring it down like "About Us" and bring a tear to your eye. Either way they always deliver wonderful performances. I think you'll enjoy "Manners"official music video, not the official live version the video itself is masterfully done and it's a great straight four Rocker.....lyrics be damned! "Domination LIVE" and "Daydreaming" are their more popular.

Before Yesterday, the nonfiction days, start over, daydreaming would be my recommendations. mid-speed and more poppy in sound. the band is more rock-genre than metal overall, but can cross into heavy metal when they feel like it.

These 5 ladies are some of the best singers, song writers/composers, on the planet in my humble opinion.
In 2016, they performed in Japan. In the audience that evening was Jimmy Page; he was so impressed with the Drummer, Akane Hirose, that he insisted on getting a photo 📸 with her. When her band mates informed her, she thought they were pranking her until he entered their dressing room.

It looks like you play Bass. Check out the hands of their Bassist MISA on the song Domination (Live). Look at the 2:15 - 3:00 minutes marks. She does some amazing things that you will have to review it several times before you move on. At least, I did.
