What I love about BAND-MAID is that it's very often in rock bands that people just pay attention to the vocals and the guitar, but not here... They all shine in the song, Akane never leaves you bored of the drums for a single second in Warning, Misa is absolutely insane on that bass the whole time, Kanami and Saiki are amazing as usual. You're always paying attention to every single instrument 'cause they're all freaking brilliant!
12:20 In an interview *MISA* stated: _I want the whole world to recognize that bassist=MISA [when they think of bassist, they will think of MISA]_ If you look in the Webster Dictionary under bassist you see a picture of *MISA* 😜
Yeah, my attention has been on the instruments but she’s a great singer. When saw saw them live I was totally smitten by Saiki. She so beautiful and has such a massive stage presence. Then when speaking to her she has such a warm, kind personality.
I'm almost 70 and had more or less quit listening to newer rock and metal because it just sounded tired and repetitive to me. Then, a few years ago I looked at two reaction channels at about the same time, LOST IN MPK and STATIC AGE. They both did a different Band Maid song and I was immediately hooked. I now watch nearly every BAND MAID reaction, including yours, and really get a kick out of different people discovering them. Your reaction channel is one of my favorites because you seem to derive a true appreciation and joy from their music. I like them so much I bought their whole catalog. The best rock band on the planet. Please remember Miku, she has become an excellent rhythm guitarist and started from nothing. She started the band and writes the lyrics and is the actual driving force, she is their energy and spirit. I look forward to your next reaction.
@@interstellardave I just always feel like she gets overlooked because most of the reactors focus on the abilities of everyone else. I understand it, I just don't want her to be forgotten. If any one of those ladies ever left the group, including her, I think it might be the end. She's the pusher.
@@topographic1973ify There's no doubt about that. Not only does the group not exist, if not for her, but the popularity they are gaining is in large part due to her hustle, and outgoing nature. Not to mention her modesty, which makes her the ultimate team player. Great username, BTW. On certain days, my favorite Yes album.
@@interstellardave I'm really an old Yes fanatic going clear back to 1971, I missed the beginning by three years. I've seen them ten times which isn't a lot compared to many but we're out in the middle of ranching country in the middle of southeastern Montana so I'm a bit of an oddity out here. I have a very large Yes and related collection. All the albums, related groups, guest appearances and solo albums, etc. I have to keep it all on a computer list. I also have unreleased demos and albums so you can see I'm a bit of a nut job. I generally like prog more than rock any more anyway and that's what makes my liking Band Maid a little odd. I love Band Maid and on the new albums their flexing their muscles into the prog genre a bit more. When I first saw ONSET I knew it showed the true potential of Band Maid and I really got excited about what was coming down the road. They're inventive and exciting. Kaname's musical ideas are a bit of genius and what the other members do with them is more genius on top of them. I rave about Band Maid the way I raved about Yes when I first discovered them all those years ago. They're the only two bands I've done it with.
@@topographic1973ify I've seen them only 5 times, if you count ABWH (which I do... that's as Yes as it gets). Would have been 6, as I had tickets for the tour that was canceled when Jon Anderson had vocal surgery. Hopefully you got to see them on the "Masterworks" tour where they played mostly the longer, epic tracks, including ones they hadn't played in decades. Kansas opened for them... best show I've ever been to. Now my bucket list of concerts to attend has Band Maid in it, as well as Nightwish, who I also only recently discovered. I wasn't at all excited about new music until discovering those 2 bands.
They are So Good they leave us speechless. I'm almost 60 y.o. and have been into rock/metal music all my life. Seen many concerts back in the 80's of all the top bands touring. For me, Band Maid tops them all. Pretty much all I listen to is Band Maid. With 100+ songs in their library I still want more.
One of the WTF things about Kanami is that she said when playing, she doesn’t focus on or think about playing, she just plays. And it’s SPECTACULAR.🤯💪🏻🤘🏻
Eddie VanHalen said something about reaching this level of skill (an I'm putting it into my own words here): your playing becomes like writing to you; once you're proficient in making the shapes of the letters and you know how to spell the words, you can simply THINK the words that you want to write, and you WRITE THEM. There's no CONSCIOUS THOUGHT required of HOW to make the right shapes of the letters.
"Choose Me" has so many great RnR chops, it's kinda unbelievable. From Saiki's old-school phrasing and cadence; MISA's driving bass, her special riff after Kanami's brilliant, rocking main solo, and her pulls at the end of the song that really funks it up; to Kanami's original composition, off-beat octave stretches during the verses, and her addition of a second uncomplicated yet super tasty solo complete with harmonic pinch; to Akane's unique snare & tom flurry that launches the choruses; and to Miku's octave-down, in & out vocal backup and lyrics... all makes "Choose Me" a throwback rocker that surprised me when I first heard it - and I'll bet most anyone - that they would come up with this western-style, rock 'n roll classic. Of course, after years later, it's not surprising at all coming from this important band of geniuses who are almost single-handedly bringing back the joys and soulfulness of rock for people from all places and ages to hear. Here's a great live MV of "Choose Me" that's not quite as punchy do to the mix, but still good: th-cam.com/video/HcqitbXgigU/w-d-xo.html Thx again, Ryan!
@@RyanMear I'll have my manager talk with my publisher who will get in touch with my lawyer to create the release docs to... fuck it. Sure, go ahead! 🤙😎🤘
BAND-MAID's Kanami Tōno: "A good guitar solo will trigger emotions. I always keep that in mind!" Nuff said, she is an absolute master and genius, because of this simple "rule".
Do the older stuff and came back to their new stuff😂😂😂what can I say ..i just smile😁and laugh at the same time😂 that's what i do coz of disbelief maybe😂😂they just keep getting better and more technicalities 🤯brain crack for me😂😂😂
Hi Rayan, what can I say... I too am madly in love with this Band, I'm a guitarist and multi-instrumentalist, I listen to many bands and I was born with the rock sound of the 70s 80s and 90s bands, but in 2016 I come across these girls with the song "the non fiction day", love at first sight, the Band of my dreams...Misa the Best oh the best, Akane received compliments from Jimmy Page who wanted to meet her after a concert, Kanami one of the most versatile and brilliant guitarists I've heard in recent times, she writes all the songs, in fact she has a dedicated page on the PRS website, try to listen to her in Puzzle Live, she doesn't stop for a moment, Miku is the soul of the band and writes the lyrics with Saiki and Saiki "the Princess" I really love her Voice. Band Maid think Band Maid do ... bye and thank you

I love that you paused just to laugh hysterically, and then continued without saying a single word. Actions speak louder then words, and so does music.
Seriously RM,....I wish you'd show a little emotion!!! It's hard to tell if you like this band...🤣. When I first discovered Band-Maid, after watching a couple of MV's, I listened to every song they had available on Spotify at the time, around 90, 5+ hours, straight through! I'm an old fart, seen and listened to some of the greatest musicians/bands ever, I can honestly say they don't have a bad song! Their "worst" song is better than 95% of other bands' best! There are an extreme few bands where I can listen to their album straight through and like more than a couple of songs, let alone their whole catalog!!! It's criminal that they aren't bigger worldwide. The energy coming out of Japan is insane!!!👍👍🤘🤘🤘
Everyone doesn't show specific emotions in the same specific ways. Everyone doesn't wear their feelings on their sleeve. Someone whose emotions are immediately visible and audible may be satisfying to watch, and sometimes beautiful to see ("The Charismatic Voice" comes to mind). But I appreciate that he's not forcing it, which IMHO is too common with reactors. I see people running around the room waving arms and whooping it up looking like they're gonna have a heart attack on every reaction. Too many fakers out there. We will find out when he says it. And he will. I am a "verbal inhibitor" who has to process what is going on before I, for example, reply to a question. I literally CANNOT "just blurt it out" and if I try, it tends to come out wrong. And for me, to observe and listen is generally a separate thing from talking about it. So I find him relatable. If you don't, well, he might not be the reactor for you. But I like his calm observational style. BTW, just to be clear, Band-Maid is my #1 band and has been since I guess late 2015 when I first heard them. I don't yell about it. Then again, I have no idea how I will be when I actually see and hear them in person. 😁
@@jamesredman1263 Hey James,... I, like you, Band-Maid is my #1 too!!! Mr. Mears is one of my favorites reactors, mainly for the reasons you've listed. I've been a sub since his 1st B-M song! Please re-read my comment, especially the first 2 sentences. You'll see that I was making fun! He starts out serious then after a couple of bars, he smiles and laughs probably thinking, "there's no way a band can be that good, song after song!" I also enjoy his other reactions to other bands. His own music is pretty damn good too! Just say'n,...nothing negative here!!!👍👍🤘🤘🤘
It is all about Japanese work ethics, mate!😁 I have lived in Japan for 44 years and the idiotic Frenchman I was has certainly changed!😁 Now, the difference with other Japanese groups is mainly their incredible camarederie, a rarity even here in Japan!😁 Sheer total talent does help, too!😁
BandMaid is one of the best gifts for those who missed Music for last decades. like a candy you always wanted but missed all the time. These ladies bring back the joy from listening to Music that is not for sale only but for the art of the musicianship and emotional expression via instruments.
So this was the perfect example of why I enjoy BM reaction videos. Anyone (musician or not) can recognize their talent, that's easy. It's when they know & understand music and get this far into the catalog and realize BM is not just another great rock band, they are special, on another level, and just might be one of the best EVER. 🎶🎸🥁🎸🎶🔥🙂
They are just so consistently good, never bad and frequently great. The lack of ego and emphasis on making music for fans to enjoy and stating so is refreshing also.
The solos are so f in tasty and on point, the exit is always go somewhere useful for the song. I can’t find anything musically beautiful other than classical music.
Hey Ryan, you can probably relate to my new catchphrase about Band-Maid, although I did steal it from another reactor: "they fill a need I didn't know I had." You would also appreciate a couple songs that go back to the days when their new label at the time allowed them to use songs they had written themselves: "YOLO", and "Alone". Also "Daydreaming", which has my favorite Kanami solo. I consider "YOLO" to be their most underappreciated tune by my fellow Maidiacs as it's one of my favs and I rarely see anyone request it.
No one in Band-Maid is trying to hog the spotlight. They're in it for each other. They make each other better. That's their biggest strength. Add incredible talent and a cuteness factor that's off the charts, and you get the perfect storm. Keep up the good work sir. =)
"Don't judge me by the way of others". Ryan - I think I'm now a lifetime subscriber! You're reaction was equal parts funny, awesome, predictable and reminiscent of my own. We all knew you couldn't stay away long.
I used to not hear the bass and therefore I used to not bother listening for it. MISA taught me the error my ways. I've come to believe MISA slaying on the bass is what completes the BAND MAID sound.
What I think is cool of what you di there is that you take two sons by them which have different musical accents and styles. Warning! is metal oriented with emphasis on speed, while Choose Me is more pop punk, much more melodic with a very different riff and chords construction. Two sides of the same band. For me, this shows how versatile the are.
There are so many songs to choose! Ok, throwing in another hidden gem that seldom get mentioned: I still seek revenge. It is on the newest album. No hints.
@@PinD-PANIC someone on Reddit mentioned that MISA has chosen "I still seek revenge" as favorite in all interviews after the Young Guitar interview (where she picked No God). I know I have read it too, but I can't seem to find any now.
Really the best reaction! This is the best band on the planet at the moment! I and you both understood it. 😁 And not only the sound but also the lyrics are wonderful. Even for me as a Japanese, Miku's lyrics are different from others. Start singing "Love is an invisible illusion" at choose me, and continue "If you have love, expose everything." It is very difficult for Japanese people to express "love" straight into the lyrics and put it on the sound. She is not particular about English or Japanese and feels the belief that great music and lyrics will be transmitted to music lovers like you all over the world. "Choose me" is a lovely love song that girls who can't be honest believe in love and choose themselves.
When i taught Miku to drive she said "I got the Key. I Don't Apply the Brake so let's take this Brand New Road & go on a Summer Drive". She was only using me for Warning. 😥
right out of the breaking new Gate with that "One and Only", just hope 'You" don't come to any "Cross" roads with your lack of "Manners" you will end up in the "Unseen World" and that would be "Awkward" but "YOLO" unless you believe in "Rinne"

Thanks for your double reactions. It was really fun. For your own sake, I suggest you to check the live version of Choose Me (it is better than the MV version, imo). As many maidiacs already told you, they have no bad song, they only have good or great songs. Now, I think you are ready to see the other side of Band-Maid. How about Daydreaming (MV) and About Us (live) next? Both are masterpiece mid-tempo songs.
I think Kanami and the girls produce the most dense yet completely integrated music for any hard rock band in history. And if you isolate Saiki's singing, it's amazing how many runs and vocal techniques she uses in songs from No God to Choose Me to Daydreaming. But she can be overlooked because of the flurry of notes and sound flying around her. You gotta love these super polite, unassuming geniuses that become warriors on stage and in the studio! Thx Ryan, for another great reaction to the greatest hard rock band on the planet!
of the top of my head i can honestly name 10 albums (that arnt greatest hits) that i dont skip a song on..ac/dc dirty deeds, pink floyd dark side of the moon, guns n roses appetite for destruction and the 7 Band-Maid albums. maid in japan (thier first album)i havnt heard all of as yet so cant honmestly add it to the list but love all of it have herd
Don't you tell Me is a fun MV, there is a live version which is good but the actual MV is funny and cute. Gion-cho is from Band-Maiko, which was a April Fool's Day joke telling fans they were changing their style. Dice, Blooming, Bubble, Alone, Different, Daydreaming... I could go on and on and on...you get, they fucking rock!!
"Don't You Tell Me" was also back when they were still talking about their 'charm points', so you get to see them all in that music video as well. It's pretty funny overall.
So if you want to hear something else very different from them check out About Us. It's more or less a pop rock ballad. This is one where the lyrics are important. It's a love letter to their fans about how much they miss touring and connecting with the fans during the pandemic.
Your comments on the screen, sum up pretty much what I've been through becoming a huge fan. I still can't tell how many band-maid songs will wind up on your playlist, but I got the feeling that the number would go up to at least 50...my wild guess. Depending on whether you get into jazzy ballads, proggy ballads, something with a bit of hardcore punk or pop punk...etc etc.... the number will keep going up. One thing is for sure though, whatever they do sound band-maid and you already know that.
Your channel becomes now one of my favorite reaction channels, certainly I really enjoyed. Maybe you proceed another double check for Secret My lips and Secret Maiko Lips.
being unpredictable is their forte, songwriting and fan service-wise. you'll be equally surprised at their personalities when not performing. on your observation @12:12 -- to second your words, i think misa changed the 21st century bass-playing concept and landscape. the merits of in-groove and in-the-pocket have always been regarded as prerequisites and a foundation of good bass-playing, until she came to the spotlight and showed the world that the bass can be wielded in another way -- and her approach makes her stand at a different level of proficiency. the bar is raised; she is THE groove and the pocket.
She stands out in the same way Chris Squire did. Just as much a part of the amazing music being played as anyone else, whereas, with so many other bands, the bass is an afterthought. There, but never really noticed, or special in any way.
Your reactions, enthusiasm, and speechless, dumbfounded stare are an almost perfect mirror to my own experience discovering the band. The only thing missing is tears of joy. The things they do to keep the music interesting and *cool* sets them above any other band I've heard. "Choose Me" is their most popular song on Spotify and it's easy to see why. The song works so well as an breezy, catchy tune that I tend to forget it has two guitar solos, a short bass breakdown, and Akane fills that sound like rifle shots. But it all fits. It always fits. Talking about how you like every song sounds like a challenge. 😁 One of the most different songs on their channel is "Start Over". Among fans it's perhaps the most controversial song in their catalogue. I bet you haven't seen it recommended once. Maybe give it a go and see if your streak remains intact. Please keep these coming. It's as close as we can come to reliving our own Band-Maid journey.
Members:BAND-MAID's songs are fast and hard to sing in karaoke. So do you mind to make a song that everyone can sing at karaoke? KANAMI: Sure. It's "START OVER".
@@triceyambae4579 Exactly. It doesn't sound like a "Band-Maid song" because Kanami was asked to write a different style of song - a simple song for Karaoke. I appreciate the song for what it was intended for, even if it is not one of my favs (I also don't "karaoke").
Actually "start over" started very low on my bandmaid chart, but it eventually climbed its way into my top 50. They did exactly what they intended to do with the song, before I knew it I was humming the song regularly. Damn!
Unique. Unexpected. Blindsided. Yep, that's Band Maid. I know you have just stuck your big toe in the BM pond, but after you've listened to 50 songs or so then you will understand how truly amazing they are. No bad songs. Understatement.
Great to see someone at this stage of BM discovery! I've got everything they've done on my player and I just put it on shuffle and never skip. It doesn't make sense, there should be something I don't like but there isn't. The way they play just sounds so appealing, even the stuff they didn't write. I've got tons of albums I almost like all of, some I like maybe half of but I still think are good albums but nothing with a strike rate like BM. It's magic.
Choose Me is probably their most popular song. It has the most listens on Spotify. Maidiacs: I recommend you check out Ryan's music. There's some good stuff in there. If you don't have a lot of time at least listen to the first track on his album called "I See". Very cool extended outro solo.
Hell yea man 🎀🎀🤘🏼🤘🏼 Undermentioned or underappreciated songs from Band-Maid… there’s a bunch so I won’t mention any…. You’ll get to them in time though. Especially if you keep going down their official YT page. Also, do the song Glory.
I'm 55 years old and now, when I hear music from bands (some fairly major bands) that I've loved for decades, it doesn't always seem as good as it used to. Seems like an outrageous comment, I know, but that's how I feel. Band Maid has raised the bar in ways that even groups like Rush never did. Don't get me wrong, Rush is still as great as ever in my mind--they themselves are not diminished at all by Band Maid, but they never made me look at lesser bands differently. Somehow Band Maid does. They are firmly in the top-tier with my favorite classic rock/metal bands. I wonder if anyone else has had the same feeling? I wouldn't change Band Maid at all but I am curious to know what they would come up with if they went full prog-rock, kind of like a Close To The Edge style composition. Their musical and compositional skills make me certain they could come up with something glorious! But, as they may never have the desire to do such a thing, I'll take their 4-minutes-of-perfection songs any day over pretty much anything that other groups are doing now.
Yeah, Rush remain more than special but there's a truck-load of 80s+ rock (a good chunk of my record collection) that is looking weak next to the Maids. I too wonder if they'd ever do some kind of long, multi-part, epic song. Picture the scene on stage; Akane expands her kit...more dramatic sounds to trigger, potential for 3 double-neck guitars/bass and I could see Saiki with some gothic Keytar...and some stonking video backdrop. I think they could go interstellar Dave :-)
@@philproffitt8363 "Weak" is a good term for how I'm starting to view a lot of bands. Not so much from a talent perspective, as talent is quite widespread, but it's what so many bands fail to do with their talent. Band Maid fully utilizes their talent on every song at this point. They're so creative, and demanding of themselves.
@@SteveBalderrama I think their musicality is really their secret sauce. No matter what they do it's always amazingly catchy. It seriously sets them apart from just about everyone else. I heard a song by Nemophila yesterday. The musicianship is as great as everyone says, and the song was great. Honestly. But I don't remember much about it now. I remember really liking it but it obviously didn't stick in my head the way Band Maid songs have since I first heard them. That's what makes Band Maid addictive, I think. They have an amazing ability to be as hard as they want to be, as technical as they choose to be, play as fast as they possibly can, or delve into prog, yet always provide a little bit of that "pop" sensibility that hooks you and never makes you feel like it's a guilty pleasure. I may have rambled there, LOL, but I think I said it okay...
My little take on this? BAND-MAID's camaraderie shows in their music. These women love being in a band together, not just playing music together. You can put 5 great musicians together and get some killer songs, technically, but like you said, @interstellardave, maybe not so memorable. I've heard a thousand TH-cam guitarists sound like Lovebites and Nemophila's guitarists. NONE of them sound like Kanami.
Eventually you'll get through the whole channel of theirs, then you'll go through withdrawal and then do reactions to songs on the album. Or even go crazy and do the fan-cams at concerts and even though the sound can suck, you see them being fantastic anyway. They are taking over the world! I hope. One of the many things I admire about Miku, She has goals. Not dreams. They will eventually dominate the world like she wants. I'd be happy to let them serve me. That might sound weird at first but it's normal with them lol. They call their audience Masters and Princesses and concerts are Servings. BTW I think this is what you get when you get a Blues Guitarist, Metal Drummer, Jazz/Funk Bassist, Pop singer, and a pigeon. = best band on earth
HAHAHAA... I knew after watching you react to Manners exactly what was going to happen with Warning! and indeed it did! LOL. It is such a brilliantly composed song. Choose Me is fucking glorious live (watch the live version on the channel). When Saiki looks at you when she says "I choose you..." melts me. EVERY. TIME. You're loss for words in trying to talk about what you're hearing is normal for first listens. All of us in Band-Maid nation have been there, many times. Its a great feeling, isn't it? :) MISA's play style is so unique and her sound is exclusively hers. Same with Kanami. You know, instantly, when hearing a few bars from them it is Band-Maid. Also, MISA has stated in interviews recently that she wants to try her hand at writing some songs and not just bass lines. Miku stated recently in some interviews that her goal is to create a new genre of music called Band-Maid. She, and by extension the entire band, refuse to be categorized. Just take the 3 most recent albums, World Domination, Conqueror, and Unseen World... you have 3 very distinct, separate. yet still recognizably Band-Maid soundscapes on them. You've done their hard rock and bangin' songs... now time to slow it down a step and listen to some of the mid-tempo stuff. about Us (a gift to the fans from the band), Wonderland, and Bubble (more Clutch adjacent) and I would also throw in one of my favorites Blooming as well. Then you need to delve into the side projects; Band-Maiko, Gion-cho and Cluppo, Peace and Love (way more poppy/idolish).
Nice. Love Band Maid. Kanami such a great guitarist and songwriter. Onset is a live instrumental, really great song. Puzzle live, incredible song, Kanamis solo is beautiful.
Ryan...I really like the word edits you add in. Choose Me is their most played songvon Spotify. Saiki's rhythm and cadence is mesmerizing. There is something about BM that feels familiar but very unique. I think it is because they play with a lot of emotion and feeling and it hearkens back to those great blies based rock bands of yesteryear. Nice to see you appreciate Kanami. Some are dismissive of Kanami because she isn't the most technical player and claim that any decent guitarist can play her stuff. Maybe that is true but how many can come up with the riffs that she does or infuse the emotion into their playing she does. Ironically IMO her most powerful and emotionally moving solo is on a ballad, Daydreaming.
Not many people can play like Malmsteen..... buy I know who he is and I never listen to him. I think Kanami is super talented. Lovebites, and Nemophila may have more technical solos.... but who really gives a fuck? Kanami writes adventures, then she takes her own little adventure inside of that. I'm not downplaying her technical ability either, she's super skilled, she just knows not every song needs to show it.
@@RyanMear Well said. I have tried to get into Lovebites. They are very talented and the synchronized solos are impressive but for some reason I sometimes get bored during the solos. I don't recall ever thinking that I wish Kanami's solo was shorter or feeling bored. I like how you describe it as an adventure.
@@falconsooner LoveBites is like a lot of modern metal to me, all starts sounding the same. I want to like them but can't quite get into it. Gacharic Spin/Doll$Box is way more interesting. None of them have compositions that can match mad genius Kanami though.
@@falconsooner I'm in the same boat. Virtuosos are almost a dime a dozen relative to talented songwriters, and without the latter, that virtuosity has nowhere to go. I have a similar reaction to bands like, say, Lovebites - guitar virtuosos for sure, but I'm content with a single listen or two. I love the "wow" factor watching them, but they don't make me giggle like an idiot in love.
I gotta say, I REALLY hope you keep this format. Do one song that was suggested to you and then just hit the next button until one pops up that you haven't heard. That was really fucking fun to watch and it's a good way to possibly see some of these songs that are good but most likely won't be recommended a lot. Thanks for the content man!
Ryan, nice reaction as always! I guess you're about to start realizing the reason why we the Maidiacs can hardly pick top ten (or even twenty) favorite songs. Keep on rockin' Po!
Kanami is a master composer and the others in the band are classically trained well enough to back her up and add their own thoughts to the process. The best thing that happened for them and us is when the music labels gave them a chance with the song 'Alone' to prove they could write their own music. And you're absolutely right about how they approach music. They don't care about what's 'allowed' to be done in rock music, they just do what sounds good. Throw some blues in there. Use some jazz. Maybe put some punk rock in there. Have the song start out heavy metal and transition to pop rock. They are a wild group of musicians. They seem to approach it from the perspective of what would be fun to listen to, and not what would make them look good, which gives a real air of authenticity to their music. I know it also results in alot of "Man I wish that solo was longer!", but they put solos in there to enhance the song, not to stroke their ego like so many musicians do. Kanami's said in interviews when she writes solos she approaches it with a desire to inspire emotions in the listener. Their music is 100% about the listener having a good time. In recent interviews MISA has been saying she wants to try her hand at composing a whole song by herself, so we all have to look forward to her debut doing that and see where it goes.
Great Reaction Ryan so listen to " DICE " MV , " Non-fiction days " MV and the LIVE ver. from the Zepp concert 2018 , " Puzzle " LIVE Zepp concert , " Freezer " MV , " Bubble " MV and LIVE , just to name a few , Love these Girls they are 100% BADASS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I started listening to Band Maid ... I loved music like never before. I feel a sense of euphoria when I listen to their music and ...... I smile or shed tears ... out of emotion ... with the same ease way. We feel the same way about this amazing Band my friend Ryan.
Ryan, the comments on Misa's technique were spot on. I've been a bassist for over 50 years....she has become one of my favorites, even though I've only been listening to Band-Maid for a year and a half! Thanks, man! 👍💖
FYI, there are official live videos out of both songs and they are much better live :D Also, if you like Kanamis chord-progression in the chorus of 'Choose Me', then check out the chorus of 'Dice'. It's even better :D
Earlier this year I had to make a 4 hour drive. I set Spotify to randomly play the BAND-MAID catalog. I didnt hear a bad song in 4 hours. Honestly don't know if any band I can remember can pull that off. Honestly their are 2-3 songs Im not fond of I have heard over time but thats over how many albums?
Hi Ryan, you can choose a random song from Band Maid, there are old beautiful songs, like Yolo, Shake That, Matchless Gum, Puzzle, Freezer, Brand-New Road (particular) and many many others, great reaction 😉❤😎👍
Great songs from Band-Maid? Thrill thru Black Hole, and everything in between! That about covers it! Love your enthusiasm! Now I know what I look like when I watch Band-Maid!
For 'Warning' , a little referred to interpretation that I peddle for the amusement: The Jag and the Caddy represent the clash between European and US music industries. In the end, a Japanese woman shredding on a guitar stand atop their wreckage. Take from it what you will.
I liked "Warning" the second I first heard it...but it keeps getting BETTER. I can't listen to "Choose Me" because I start to dance...and then I get arrested. Thanks Ryan!
I grew up playing music and listening to "the greats": from Bach to Blues to Jazz, 60-70's rock, metal, dance, disco, nu wave, etc, you name it. Even with all of that, when I got into Band Maid I got blown away over and over again XD. They're just something else, something special as a band and we can all tell that they're doing something special to music.
If you really like what you have heard so far, then there is plenty yet for you to hear and like. It's crazy how many of their tunes sound that good, and different. I've read comments from people who drove for hours to see them play live and would do it again.
I love your reactions, but doing a double made me late for work, lol. If you can get ahold of a copy you have to watch Puzzle acoustic. Simply amazing. I'm sure someone here can hook you up.
Great reaction and two sings to get you fired up. Warning is as the title says (opening song on latest album) and Choose Me is one of their older songs (2017). The live version of this song is, as you probably know by now, better (although Kamani is a bit low in this mix). From about 70 awesome songs to choose from (there's 30 more a bit less awesome, but still better than just about any other band, but at this point who's counting). Most recommendations are either for the newest album or the live videos on their channel, so a lot of the older songs from the earlier albums don't pop up in the recommendations, but honestly, just pick any song at random, roll the dice and you'll always come up 7's, I haven't heard one skip song yet and I have almost all their recording.
I actually prefer the MV to the Live...although the Live has great energy. As you pointed out...Kanami is a bit low in the mix in the live and Saiki looks great in B&W. Plus the MV shows some of Akane's fills.
I know I’m late to the party but I love your reaction here; probably because it’s exactly how I felt when I first heard these songs - which was just a few weeks ago. As if these two songs are great enough - then that outro in Choose Me is just off the charts - freaking perfection -- the musical expression of pure joy 🤩
This band has single handedly saved my music life, before I accidentally found them around five years ago, I had given up on listening to music all together, after decades of pure garbage I just quit, now because of Band Maid (the greatest band on planet earth) I now actively seek out other great Japanese bands, and I'm full of wonderful music again, arigatou gozimasou Banda Maido ganbatte kudisai Japan.
"Awesome!" - Ryan Mear Yes. Yes, they are. You want to see something really awesome? Check out 'Don't You Tell Me' live for an amazing bass and guitar, call and response battle between Kanami and MISA. Awesome!
Well Mincho has a stash of riffs in her hardisk back home so i think she'll ever lacking on riffs n solos for about 9 centuries 😄😄 after Unseen World really waiting for their next one coz UW is amazing 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻try Secret My Lips next...thanks a bunch 🙏🏿✌
Well you've found the panacea for pain relief Ryan. Who needs morphine when you have The Maids to watch/hear. Yes another 2 gems from Kanami with the never ending diversity she's become renown for. You will always get plenty of subs and hits saying the right things about The Maids. You are and your smile says it all...
I love watching people fall down the BAND-MAID rabbit hole!
Hoping for amnesia so I can fall down the hole again myself ....Hahaha
What I love about BAND-MAID is that it's very often in rock bands that people just pay attention to the vocals and the guitar, but not here... They all shine in the song, Akane never leaves you bored of the drums for a single second in Warning, Misa is absolutely insane on that bass the whole time, Kanami and Saiki are amazing as usual.
You're always paying attention to every single instrument 'cause they're all freaking brilliant!
Yeah, when I listen to them when I'm driving around by myself, I still get the same stupid grins and laughter.....
Band Maid are my best discovery since Black Sabbath in the 60's :)
12:20 In an interview *MISA* stated: _I want the whole world to recognize that bassist=MISA [when they think of bassist, they will think of MISA]_
If you look in the Webster Dictionary under bassist you see a picture of *MISA* 😜
Saiki is so beautiful in "Choose me" clip, it hurts... I have a crush every time I see that clip.
MIKU! MIKU! MIKU! Totally agree... her contibutions are huge, right across the board.
When you said "what's the next one" with no hesitation, you Ryan, officially became a Maidiac. welcome to the club. 🎸🎸🥁🎸😱
i am down for watching someone fall all the way down the pigeon hole in one sitting
"Shake That" a pure Power rock song, beautiful.
Couldn't agree more!
No argument here 👍🏼and the same age as you 🤙🏼
I keep saying this but you're not old, you're just one day older from dying young.👍

You can really see how much she gets into it too.
無心 (mushin) "no mind" one of the essences of Zen. Kanami Tōno is surely that! A--f**king--MEN
I love watching people reacting to this video.

Hahaha i noticed this too, i know exactly how he feels. I’ve done the same thing too listening to Band-Maid and are just blown away.
This 100 percent. I can listen to any Bandmaid song and be happy and have about 75 so far that I love.
💯% 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Everyone doesn't show specific emotions in the same specific ways. Everyone doesn't wear their feelings on their sleeve. Someone whose emotions are immediately visible and audible may be satisfying to watch, and sometimes beautiful to see ("The Charismatic Voice" comes to mind). But
I appreciate that he's not forcing it, which IMHO is too common with reactors.
😁

They create their own music sound and style
Ryan, all I can think to say when I listen sometimes is Ladies and Gentlemen,Kanami and the band have left the planet earth, nice job.
"Yolo" is a great song with an insane Akane drumline and a spectacular Kanami solo.
The solos are so f in tasty and on point, the exit is always go somewhere useful for the song. I can’t find anything musically beautiful other than classical music.
They have "songs" that the average person would "like".... But then they have "tracks" that a seasoned musicians "loves".
@@chrisbergsten1429 He did onset
Hey Ryan, you can probably relate to my new catchphrase about Band-Maid, although I did steal it from another reactor: "they fill a need I didn't know I had." You would also appreciate a couple songs that go back to the days when their new label at the time allowed them to use songs they had written themselves: "YOLO", and "Alone". Also "Daydreaming", which has my favorite Kanami solo. I consider "YOLO" to be their most underappreciated tune by my fellow Maidiacs as it's one of my favs and I rarely see anyone request it.
Amen re: "Daydreaming" solo
in Freezer, you can listen to an insane wha-wha guitar from Kanami.
Omg, yeah what you said about MISA! She seriously made me appreciate bass in a band setting more!
MISA!! MISA!!! MISA!!! 😉🤙🏼
I used to not hear the bass and therefore I used to not bother listening for it. MISA taught me the error my ways. I've come to believe MISA slaying on the bass is what completes the BAND MAID sound.
I love those disbelief laughs - it says a lot.
Their lives always start with this kind of merry go round music before they come into the stage and proceed to melt your face with badass hard rock.
There are so many songs to choose! Ok, throwing in another hidden gem that seldom get mentioned: I still seek revenge. It is on the newest album. No hints.

I and you both understood it. 😁
And not only the sound but also the lyrics are wonderful. Even for me as a Japanese, Miku's lyrics are different from others.
Start singing "Love is an invisible illusion" at choose me, and continue "If you have love, expose everything."
It is very difficult for Japanese people to express "love" straight into the lyrics and put it on the sound.
Miku sees you as her Big Dad which made you feel Awkward so you did not Order her to Shake That and you will Be OK 😉
You two "Don't Let Me Down". Let's move "Forward" & i'll buy you both "A Beer". Is that a B-M song or did i mean "Spirit"? 🤔

They are a beautiful storm.
of the top of my head i can honestly name 10 albums (that arnt greatest hits) that i dont skip a song on..ac/dc dirty deeds, pink floyd dark side of the moon, guns n roses appetite for destruction and the 7 Band-Maid albums. maid in japan (thier first album)i havnt heard all of as yet so cant honmestly add it to the list but love all of it have herd
As she's said before, she wants that when people think of the bass, they think of MISA!
Another thing he's missing is a 👒
Actually "start over" started very low on my bandmaid chart, but it eventually climbed its way into my top 50.
"Spirit" a masterpiece of Misa and Akane, cooperation, beautiful!
What is better then 1 *Kanami* solo in a song? 2 *Kanami* solo 😍
How about 4? The live version of Domination from 2020 is where she has four solos.
Yeah, that's the thing about this band: they sound INCREDIBLY familiar while also always sounding exactly like Band-Maid. That's so damned hard to do.
It's magic.
im only 4 weeks in listening to them, but i have not found one bad song yet=) and also it seems impossible to get tired of any of their songs

Maidiacs: I recommend you check out Ryan's music. There's some good stuff in there. If you don't have a lot of time at least listen to the first track on his album called "I See". Very cool extended outro solo.
I appreciate that👊🤘😉❤
Hell yea man 🎀🎀🤘🏼🤘🏼
Undermentioned or underappreciated songs from Band-Maid… there’s a bunch so I won’t mention any….
I think they could go interstellar Dave :-)
one of the best things about Bandmaid is that they incorporate a lot of prog elements while still being musical.
Hello from the future. You were right about Ryan!
MISA's play style is so unique and her sound is exclusively hers.
They are fun to watch, but there is no feeling in the solos. Technically they are great.
Thanks, it was fun to do and I just knew it would be fine😉
Ryan, nice reaction as always!
I guess you're about to start realizing the reason why we the Maidiacs can hardly pick top ten (or even twenty) favorite songs.
Keep on rockin' Po!
"Brand New-Road" is a very interesting underrated song that you have to listen to absolutely. (with a Misa Jaz variation and a spectacular Saiki).
I have all their "albums" and just put it on shuffle ... never skip anything. Great band!! Great reaction as well. Thanks.
BAND-MAID ROCKS
When I started listening to Band Maid ... I loved music like never before. I feel a sense of euphoria when I listen to their music and ...... I smile or shed tears ... out of emotion ... with the same ease way. We feel the same way about this amazing Band my friend Ryan.
Hahaha his love for Band-Maid makes me love them even more and honestly thought I loved them as much as I could.
Its funny to watch what happened to me happen to you :-) LOL
Did we mention there are no bad B-M songs?
You won a subscriber now.
"Decided by Myself" a spectacular rock melodic song with a lovely Saiki.
AWESOME!! Nuff Said. I have two bands from the 60's/70's where I don't skip a song. Band-Maid is now my third band.
I think you all should listen to some
Faith No More.
Same ethos. Anything goes!
Yes! FNM is the kind of fun open-ended RnR that a lot of us grew up on but is hard to find these days! Now at least we have Band-Maid.
For 'Warning' , a little referred to interpretation that I peddle for the amusement: The Jag and the Caddy represent the clash between European and US music industries. In the end, a Japanese woman shredding on a guitar stand atop their wreckage. Take from it what you will.
Sad but apt metaphor, Sir Paul.
I liked "Warning" the second I first heard it...but it keeps getting BETTER. I can't listen to "Choose Me" because I start to dance...and then I get arrested. Thanks Ryan!
real existence live might be a good song to react to next :)
I would definitely drive hours to see them. With where I live it's always at least 2 hours where anyone plays anyway!
Did you say roll the 'Dice'? Count that as a vote.
@@PaulEngineer I know it's awkward, but I decided by myself that I just can't resist it, guess it's my cross to bare
It really is fun to watch such joy. It just never gets old.
A few years ago I stumbled across “Dice” and I’m still ecstatic about it.
"Awesome!" - Ryan Mear
Yes. Yes, they are.
You want to see something really awesome? Check out 'Don't You Tell Me' live for an amazing bass and guitar, call and response battle between Kanami and MISA. Awesome!
Band Maid deserve perform at Download Festival or others big venue 😁👍
Even after Warning...Choose Me hit you without warning!! Genius shuffle pick...great reactions fella :-)) They bring joy...no bad songs.
Real Existence, first MV then live, will keep the fan buying going. Love the reactions!

"Double stop" at the 5th note into the solo!! So cool, so creative!!
That's just one of the best solos PERIOD. Akane's drums behind Kanami just building that foundation...
