It doesn't need bigger sales. As long as Nintendo makes a profit it's a win for them. Not every game can have Mario sales, that's delusion to believe otherwise.
@@That-Ninja Did we talk before? I don't recall. I was asking you to clarify what does vode mean. I'm guessing it was a typo. Did you mean to say you don't like video games? In which case what the heck are you doing on a video game video.
I would love not an open world; but an Immersive Sim style Metroid Prime like Deus Ex or Prey (2017) with tight but layered level design that allows for lots of creativity and paths with your different abilities.
I don't think it's possible on current Switch to make faster more agile FPS gameplay while retaining smooth framerate and good graphics at the same time. If you add here more open environments - it complicates game even further and makes it impossible to handle for ageing Switch hardware. So compromises are going to be made but where and how...
MK8 doesn't go slow in 200cc. You can go really fast if you load all the section beforehand but you need to make more loading screen. That's just how racing and metroid games are made.
@@birdbig6852 Good point. We shouldn't need to make these big gameplay and Quality sacrifices in 2020 let alone 2024! I think part of this weighs down on Retro themselves too: they need to talk serious with a totally ambitious , Open world project with zippy action gameplay that will really pull Nintendo's attention. Zelda has the most celebrated roots: yet was bold & brave enough to not stick to them, go Big and they were rewarded massively.
There's nothing wrong with the current Prime FPS formula. That said, if they wanted to make it stand out, they could focus on combat. More fast/furious encounters like Bioshock tril or recent Doom instead of just shooting bugs in your path from point A to B. Give her more CQC options for up close/personal take downs and make them satisfying to execute. Like grapple beam should be more of a weapon, and flash shift from Dread should come back. Even Doom Eternal had a double dash. However, all other elements like puzzles/exploration need to remain intact.
I liked how the grapple beam in Prime 3 had some combat utility. Expanding on that would be cool. The grapple lasso could be used to throw enemies into one another or pull enemies in instead of just ripping off enemy shields.
@netweed09 Well, Other M had finishers, and while that's what I'm recommending, they need to be more like Doom Eternal. Quick, satisfying and cool to see from FPS instead of 3rd person. But that's only half of it. I'm saying she needs more melee options as well. Weapons or even just a punch/kick.
I don’t want it to be watered down in order to reach a larger audience. Botw and totk do this. They are successful and got more people into the series, but they lost a lot of the best parts of Zelda in my opinion. They are my least favorite 3d Zelda games now. I really hope they don’t do the same with Metroid too. I want the game to do well but not at the cost of what makes the series great. It would be wise to strike a balance, something I was hoping totk would do but it didn’t. I don’t want a “do whatever you want” Metroid game.
I don’t think you understand what makes people like botw. It has nothing to do with being watered down. If anything, that trend started with wind waker. Botw just elevated the series to whole new standards in other areas.
@@56ty_ Like running across the same empty fields again six years later, collecting useless items, holding up signs, building wacky vehicles that last for thirty seconds, repetitive puzzles, robotic voice acting, a story that has zero impact on the player, no dungeons or good boss fights, unpolished mechanics, No I don’t understand it.
@@7milesdavis”six years later” you mean in Totk? I agree with that, it was a bad decision. I also agree with the dungeon criticism, I wish you could actually “do whatever you want” and not be presented with one step puzzles. But this started 20 years ago, let’s be honest.
@@56ty_ Yeah I was referring to tears of the kingdom there. I liked breath of the wild a lot the first fifty hours or so, until I realized I wasn’t really finding anything cool or enjoying the puzzles. It’s not a game I could replay. Tears of the kingdom was a let down because that’s exactly what it felt like, replaying botw. I appreciate the risks botw took but I don’t think that exact formula is one hundred percent the only direction the series should go now. I went from loving breath of the wild at first, to realizing it doesn’t have most of the things I love about the series. Sure the series is far from flawless, but twenty years later I was hoping they would have figured a few things out.
@@7milesdavis I’ll just talk about botw, I also don’t think totk was a great sequel. I think the good far outweighed the bad. And while there are definitely some major key issues to fix, I think reverting back to linearity would just result in another “watered down” experience. They just need to design better dungeons. And puzzles, I agree the “a-ha” moment is almost completely gone (again not a open world vs linear issue though) and I miss it a lot.
I think it’d be cool if the game is more open. Say you get to a hub area and there’s 3 paths: One path that leads to the ice beam, one that leads to Varia suit, and one that leads to power bombs.
Multiple paths and different sequences would be pretty cool to see. When Dread actually had some planned sequence breaking I thought it was incredible. More of that in Prime 4 would be pretty neat.
I hear you andre about the shooting being laborius but I don't think making the shooting machine gun like is a good idea. Also If the big turn-off of prime games is the challenge and the fact that you have to mash the A alot to shoot then the only thing that tells me is that average gamer and fps fan is nothing more than a wimp!
The last thing I want to see is for Metroid to go open world. I’m sick and tired of open world games. I don’t think reaching a larger audience was worth Zelda giving up so much of its identity and I feel even more strongly about Metroid. Tight, interlocking level design is this franchise’s bread and butter. Give that up and what’s the point?
Pretty much. Sacrificing Metroid's level design to go open world like every other game, no thank you. It's like people forgot Halo and Call of Duty campaigns used to also be linear and level based and everyone loved those, and Metroid Prime was never as linear as those to begin with.
Zelda giving up his identity? You mean more restoring it right? Kinda sick to hear this argument, Zelda 1 and alttp were so good and then we had those rigid Zelda games until BotW... But well I agree for Metroid Prime, it should be challenging, lightning fast, not a 30 fps open world.
I think there’s a way to do both…literally. What if Metroid Prime 4 goes back to the dual world gimmick like in Echoes? One world is a traditional tightly designed interconnected maze where you discover power ups and the other is an open world where you discover battery and missile upgrades. The powerups help you traverse the open world better and the upgrades make combat easier so you need to explore both worlds for true completionism.
Isn't Metroid technically open world anyway? You can go pretty much anywhere without loading screens. It may not be open environments. Samus spends most of the game inside extremely large areas, but they are tightly designed. It may not be what people call open world nowadays, but if your game world is in once piece, going through a few doors doesn't really change that for me.
Something to do some damage and create distance would be cool. Whether it's the melee counter from SR and Dread implemented into 3d, or some kind kick.
I've literally been saying for years the biggest change that will come with prime 4 is an emphasis on "gun play" and to date how far this take goes for me, I used to suggest the gun play might look something like doom 2016 lol. Fast paced, dynamic, mobile, skill based. So I agree completely we will be moving away from her tank feeling. This is why I have always liked 2d metroid better. Game feel and movement is my favorite part of any game, and the prime games completely lack this.
Wow this was pretty direct but I agree. The doom 2016 inspiration would be amazing. It’s definitely the most mechanically interesting first person game that came out lately. I just don’t think they should go full “mindless” like doom does in some instances.
It will maintain the exploration and in depth lore systems that the prime games always have, but the combat and movement specifically will simply be more modernized, not mindless by any means. It will also then lend to multiplayer as well, whereas the prime 2 multiplayer was essentially empty and not worth while at all. And just because I'm full of unoriginal takes today, I'll throw in that the dream scenario would be a triple A version of the prime hunters multiplayer lol.@@56ty_
That could be fun. But the problem is Nintendo spends so much time crafting detail in the world. This works out for 2D Metroid because you get to see more of the area at a time. But I think if you're moving too fast in first person it will make you nauseous, and you won't get to see all of the well crafted world design language as it will just fly by. Plus, by keeping the pacing in prime different, you are pleasing to different styles of play.
This doesnt make sense. The game wont be all action, and you're also suggesting that doom just inherently makes people nauseous, which if that were broadly true, doom would not be a success. Allowing for more smooth and fluid movement in a 3d space doesnt stop the developers from also making a detailed world full of lore and secrets to find. Have to say I just disagree bro. @@theblowupdollsmusic
Prime 4 wont drift to far away from the first 3 games. The people in charge of Prime 4 are still the same people who were in charge of the past 3. Their will be some new tweaks and such sure. However I think the biggest change is going to just be the story and visuals. Since this will the first HD Prime built from the ground up as such, and the story wont be about Phazon again. But if you expect big gameplay changes, you will be disappointed. The story, visuals and scale being bigger is about it. I would like some more focus on Samus's ship and let us do a boss battle in the sky while in our ship.
What are you talking about? The original Prime team is no longer at Retro with exception to some of the art team. The new team appears to be a mix of the recent Donkey Kong developers and new folks.
@@BJAdamBarry Do your research, former Retro staff from the prime days did interviews, they are on TH-cam, and they said they still talk with the old team. Only like 6 -8 people from the old Prime team is gone lol. And most of them said they would be open to coming back. The DK games team is the same ones who made Prime lol.
@@ItApproaches you might want to do some research. More than 6 or 8 people left, the Prime team wasn't that big to begin with. I saw those same interviews which is why I wrote what I wrote. Most of the main Prime team left after Prime 3, the rest that remain left after Donkey Kong Country Returns (except for art team). Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze's main leaders were in smaller roles in the previous game.
@@BJAdamBarry It sounds to me as you are confusing the team becoming bigger and having more new people then og people as the og team being gone...which is not the case. Tanabe is still leading the charge and the CEO of Retro is still in charge. Things aren't that different today compared to back in my days.
@@ItApproaches the CEO and Tanabe aren't the primary creative team. All 3 Prime games director, lead gameplay designer, sound designer, art designer and many other primary positions are all gone.
Well Nintendo just announced that they decided to scrap Metroid Prime 4 again they were 98% almost done and they decided to go back with the team who started it eight years ago and Nintendo said they will most likely be done by 2033. That would be pretty messed up if Nintendo decided to actually scrap Metroid Prime 4 AGAIN for a second time and started over again. Would be awesome if they surprised us with their own VR and Metroid Prime 4 would be the first game for the VR. That would be pretty sick to see
I hope Prime 4 and Metroid as a hole doesn't go Open World don't get me wrong Open World does work with games like Zelda but Metroid is part of the MV you put Open World in Metroid you take away the MV.
We'll sometimes sacrifices need to be made for a franchise to survive. If open world is what it takes fir Prime 4 to appeal to modern audiences then so be it.
@@robertkenny1201 I'm not with you on that Metroid Involves puzzles and complicated items and if you turn it open world they'll just take the Breath of the Wild approach and give you just a small group of items and then the entire world is yours to explore which is not what Metroid is.
Elden Ring has a much bigger map than previous Souls games, and it offered the ability to fast travel to any bonfire at almost anytime. The Metroid series has never had that kind of fast travel system while almost every Metroidvania game today has. If Metroid Prime 4 map is as big as we expect it to be, some new way of fast travel will be necessary or else people will complain.
@@AndresRestart That would be against the Metroid tradition. Metroid Dread had a few teleport rooms and it’s not like fast travel in other games, which is very good. I hope Nintendo comes up with something different, not just follows what everyone else does.
Fast 180 degree turn (maybe that’s in 2 and 3 - can’t recall). More of a story / cut scenes. That’s popular and could help the franchise eventually expand into other media (ie, tv / film). Marketing budget similar to God of War (or big AAA titles). Diehards fans being open minded about changes and advancements. If you want the exact same game - play the existing ones. This is likely a big budget game, so it will need to sell a lot. Doesn’t mean generic open world but be open to new mechanics, formula adjustments, etc. For some of the game Samus teams up with someone. More enemy variety. Bosses that aren’t just fixed in the middle of a room. I played MP2 before Switch came out and have been waiting for MP3 HD, so some ideas may already exist.
Yeah, Unfortunately, I predict that many fans will not like the changes this game will bring at all, despite them being good and necessary. Just look at what happened to breath of the wild, It sold a lot, but many veteran fans don't consider it a "real Zelda" I'm a big fan of Metroid, but I'm totally open to the changes that Retro includes in the game
@@barbaraziviani9123 For sure - I don't get the mindset of a sequel has to be the same as the previous iteration. Not saying there can't be criticism or preferences but some open mindedness would be nice to see. Mario games mix it up. In my mind, Nintendo and Retro should examine what isn't working with the Metroid franchise in terms of increasing sales and find ways to expand the reach while keeping the essence of the franchise in tact. I saw some comments "the game doesn't have to sell well to be good". True but it would help if it is good and sells well. Especially after a crazy long development time and cost. We'll see! Hopefully, soon. Cheers
I have faith prime4 will be out of this world and I think Nintendo knows they have a special game on their hands that will really show case the new system! Personally, I cannot wait! Retro will pull this off with tons of new features and game play!
Exactly my thoughts about Prime 4, especially after playing Dread. Well said, and thanks for fleshing out what the most ideal, fun and most logical design choices would be for the next installment would be. Side note: and so many fans are imagining this, so if these elements are not incorporated in some way, then something unbelievable would have to take its place for it to be a success. lol
And like you said about the multi-player, with all the Metroid Elements and influence from other games, their multi-player has a chance to be gamechanging. have an advertisement, showing kids walking away from Fortnite and Call of Duty, to playing Splatoon and Metroid. sheeit, that could drive sales.
This type of video is why I love this channel, I don’t see anyone else doing it. So I’m a 2d Metroid fan, couldn’t get into prime. First thing I want to mention is, I think a big disconnect with the more general Nintendo audience is first person gameplay. I think they should have a third person option. It would go such a long way. I agree Samus needs to be more agile. Or at least the gameplay could be a little faster at times. I loved Doom 2016. I don’t think it’s a coincidence they got people from Id studios. And yes, they can get creative and give shooting a more “playful” feel. That doesn’t mean it devolves in mindless fighting. They need to keep the elegance of Prime. As for the open world idea, I just think they need to learn the best lesson botw has to offer: making the world feel organic and alive. In prime its always pretty obvious e you’re either in a room or in a corridor. (I’m sure it was incredibly immersive at the time, just saying they need to step it up a notch for modern times)
First change: heavily advertise it. I can't believe how bad Nintendo is at this with some series, making low sales a self fulfilling prophecy. I don't want this to be Hollow Knight, but I think they need to consider the story and exploration that made Hollow Knight so beloved. The Prime series is part way there, having some excellent story telling and exploration that just isn't quite as amazing as it could be. Story telling: it needs more story telling -- not so much more exposition but definitely meatier -- preferably keeping primarily to an epistolary narrative supported by great examples of but also adding in some more explicit narrative (used sparingly and thoughtfully). Exploration 1: more areas that hold thematic and narrative importance; imagine 5 or 6 areas that you stumble into that are each distinct and all have that wonder the first time you stepped into Phendrana or Sanctuary. Exploration 2: non-linear exploration with multiple routes through the game that change based on the order of abilities you get and -- and this one is important -- ALLOW SKIPS. Stop forbidding them, stop patching them out, stop trying to keep the Prime series from looking like its roots in the genre the series created. I think giving difficulty modes that do something other than making enemies spongier/Samus flimsier. I get that enemy AI is tricky, but surely we can start making AI that is tiered in the way they interact with the player and the world, resulting in more difficult and/or lethal encounters. Thinking carefully about how to add in new environmental hazards to change the exploration and adding difficulty could also be a good way to go.. Or even incorporate different game modes that change the way you play the game (disable save stations, for example, but that's a low hanging fruit). Truly varied difficulty options would drastically increase replayability and interest in the game. A change that would help it reach a larger audience but completely harm it as a Metroidvania would be to make it an FPS. That's not a genre jump that would shift the primary focus of the game play that would clash with the slower, exploration focus a metroidvania should have. I'm slightly concerned about this happening given all the want for multiplayer and the fact that it's always been a low seller with multiplayer that never became a stand out, regardless of how good it actually was.
I think what would really help is quick travel and auto-save. Make it optional of course, but people don't like all the forced backtracking, so I think making that more streamlined and user friendly would go a long way in helping Metroid reach a bigger audience.
We'll I seriously hope it lives up to the hype, and finally makes Metroid a big seller. Though considering Metroid franchises track record, will be lucky if its sells 5 million in two months.
>BRING COMMANDING THE GUNSHIP BACK >Fast paced, interesting combat >Optional upgrades, areas and bosses >Open-ended exploration (i dont want the game to be open world tough) >Melee >Better movement tech (Slide, wall running, grapple, speed booster) >Give old items new uses, like what they did to the grapple beam in prime 3 (maybe we can get some expansion options) >Better puzzles, and more morphball puzzles (Part of what made sanctuary fortress in prime 2 so interesting to me was the different and fun puzzles) >Expand the Metroid universe with more lore and details >More cinematic moments. I hope to see more cutscenes that happen in real time, not interrupting gameplay, or in first person. >Give the visors more than 1 use >New suits unique to this game, i'm tired of Power, Varia and Gravity suits >Better bosses >A variety of multiplayer components, such as leaderboard and online game-modes >Built in Randomizer and boss rush >Flesh out Samus character and her rivallry with Sylux
I wouldn't want a full open world, but I really hope they take cues from Hollow Knight in terms of having multiple options for progression within the Metroidvania upgrade formula, instead of being locked into an exact sequence of upgrades. A nice blend of freedom and structure that could really help the replayability and and make each playthough unique, without losing out on the fundamental tightly-designed appeal of the genre. Not sure how that may play with the narrative side of things, though, which I imagine will influence the structure greatly depending on how they approach the storytelling.
My Dream Scenario: * Just Cause levels of Grapple hook action. Not just to poimts or shields but to any surface lacking obstacles and any to enemy your strong enough to. * A plasma blade on your left arm like the space pirates have for actual melee combat. Complete with sick DOOM style finishers * Bring back the Command Visor from Prime 3; with MGS5 levels of utility (even a custom soundtrack to blast music when it attacks) * Add a Souls-style multiplayer where you can hire other hunters (in universe NPCs or players with custom hunters) for Co-Op. But also for invasions by "Hit Squads" with players' custom Pirates. * Let us exit of the suit whenever we deem it viable for a stealthy and lightfooted approach. Maybe some areas/enemies can forcibly deactivate the armor entirely similar to the Rezbits in Prime 2 for added challenge. * And finally bring the Speed Booster to Prime dammit!
The 1st-person shooter, no matter how optically immersive, continues to feel like an experience detached from the environment. Implementing weighty physics and locational haptic feedback on the controller could provide sensation for things like individual footsteps, collisions, gun charging, etc. Metroid Prime 4 will need to raise the bar or introduce the next stage of environmental player immersion in FPS/FPA games
I think the way you fire the burst before the charge should have had a toggle in the menu. I understand how it may have helped people, especially before you get the charge beam, buy it interferes with charging shots a lot. It wasn't a change that I liked. I could see a possibility of implementing the speed boost upgrade and switching to 3rd person when you use it.
I think we'll see at least some major changes to the formula, which improve the overall experience. Times have changed and we NEED more eyes on this series to not just get like one or 2 games per decade. Lots of "I hate the new XYZ" can be solved by giving the option to toggle between different styles of doing something, but that takes extra development time and money
some peope assume an open world metroid would be something it doesnt need to be, but the arkham games are open world and i think a metroid like that would be pretty fun
It needs to go 3rd person. It would allow them to do more movement wise. And actually seeing her do cool shit would be fun. It would also be less disorienting for casual gamers. Open it up a little so there is room to do things with the added movement options (doesn't need to be full open world or anything)
I have to disagree about the open world aspect. I think too many games have tried that route and failed to implement it in a way where the world actually felt lived in and full of content. Metroid has always benefited from tight sequenced gameplay with intentional back tracking and puzzle solving. I think an open world route would hinder what we’ve come to know and love about the series. I do agree with the updated movement and combat however, something akin to the updates implemented in dread but in a 3D space.
They definitely need to make third person an option. If they want to open up this game to a wider audience, then it’s imperative that they give the option for third person, because there’s a lot of people that hate first person games. There’s many people that won’t play it just simply for that reason. If they don’t do it, that’s going to be a huge mistake.
The only things I would hope Metroid Prime 4 does differently is have bigger areas, more movement abilities to traverse those areas, and maybe tune the combat to a pace more similar to DOOM 2016 (which itself is heavily influenced by Prime) with melee combat options. Making it open world is not what the franchise is about, I really hope they avoid that. You don't always have to chase trends and dumb-down what makes your game great. Look at the Souls Series; very Metroid-like itself with its level design, and very hard. People complained about it and the devs said "get good" and embraced what their game is about. The Souls games all sell well and are thought highly of. There's an old saying "a bird in hand is worth two in the bush". Abandoning your core audience and trying to please everyone is a sure way to please no one.
Zelda started out as an open world game back in 1986 so you can pull that off with that game! Metroid doesn’t work as an open world game! Metroid is an action adventure with puzzle elements added in! it’s always been about back tracking to get weapons and equipment you need to open doors and survive harsh environments! Metroid Prime series was very innovative and you have to back track a lot to find weapons and suits! The levels in the Metroid Prime series are huge with a lot of variety and puzzle solving in the levels. Samus Aran is silky smooth in 3D environments! Metroid Prime series is about exploration not really about movement like Master Chief or any Call of Duty characters! Metroid Prime just needs a huge world that is not open world, keep the game like it is just add in new techniques and ways to play with the new Switch 2 controller!
I don’t think a lot of people realize that Metroid shouldn’t be open world, not only because it wouldn’t be good, but also because it Metroid. Literally one of the found fathers of Metroidvania, which is the opposite of open world. It’s meant to be sequenced with abilities to be earned in a certain way, so that you can progress through more areas. That would be stripping away the base foundation of one of the biggest genres of games today, because once one of the found fathers do it, what’s to stop the others from doing it, like Hollow Knight Silk Song, or if there’s another Ori game, or Castlevania (which is another found father), etc etc. I can see there being more moments that we can see samus from third person, but we don’t need another Other M. Don’t get me wrong, I love Other M in its own way, but that style will not fit with the prime series. Melee would be great to add, it would be interesting to see how they’d do that. But who knows, we’ll see what Nintendo and Retro Studios does.
I do not agree with changing the way samus shoots. Love your content but I completely disagree. I don’t want a machine gun EDIT btw I’m glad you agree that we need it in first person and i love your ideas about how we can integrate more cameras angles
(IRONY ON) :) Lets see what we need: multi-level monetisation, loot boxes, trendie charms on weapon barrels and pinky-purple camo suit just for 5 dollars extra over purchased battlepass :D :D Jokes apart: The changes we definetly DONT need is multiplayer, and open-world, and i tell why... The essence of metroid further then its own unique metroidvania gamestyle is just: Beeing alone and trapped with a lot of threat around you in a desolate place, often with narrow corridors and an endless labyrinth that waiting you to reveal its secrets and solve its mysteries and puzzels meanwhile a bunch of predators/wildlife want to feast your meat and bloodthirsty pirates wants your blood on their hands. Do NOT forget, this game has been inspired by Alien and wanted to represent the loneliness and horrors of space. So considering this, a multiplayer could totally break its main essence since you are not alone anymore and the open-world as well because it killing its claustrobhobic vibe of the serie. When it was created it wanted to be a horror originally which never really happened due to the limitations of those era-s that the prime series represented. So if we speaking about multiplayer the only solution i mind viable is a predator mode or something that improves the paranoia factor. And if we are here my idea about the potentional improvements are the horror aspect of the game and the combat as well. At the current tech level the game should focus on capitalizing how serious the threat Samus facing with and noone can deal with besides her, but even with her abilities and powers its a desperate struggle to keep it in bay. I want the game to remind me apex predators unleashed with colossal threat that none can handle and everything gone out of control and even the pirates cant hold it back. And you have a mission to done, but you are barely able to survive and you need to progress under these conditions. I want the horror that keeps you away from rushing, i want the escape sequences when everything is blowing up behind you as you desperately try to run for your life by foot, by grapple, by morphball, by everything that you have in your arsenal and at the final moment of your escape you just realized you found yourself straight into a boss arena where an abominable monster want rip you apart and bite your head off. I want nightmare and frustration and dont want to feel myself like a MARVEL superhero, who blow few jokes between 500 enemy kills. I want enemies that can be countered by the most unexpected ways like quickly grapple-beam as the monster try to catch you with its tongue or just transform to morph-ball just right before the monster try bite to swallow youand leave a nice good bye surprise in its mouth. I want aggressive fauna that attcks any lifeforms, not only you, but also any other humanoids. I not just want to play the game, but i also want the game to play with me, with my hormons, Adrenaline, Cortizol, everything. I want to feel relief after a sequence knowing that the stakes were really high and i just barely succeded, but i made it. I think Metroid Prime 4 shouldnt try to be the most popular bestseller with all the hyped trendy cliches. It should be the game that its originally intended to be.
I'd personally prefer Nintendo to play it relatively safe. I disagree that Metroid Prime has aged, or that shooting is boring. It's a shooter, that's how its gonna be. That being said, I do like some of the ideas. Sliding, sprinting, ledge grabs etc are all good options. Other M style cinematics... ehh maybe? I dislike it for the same reason I dislike any kind of melee move for the game. I think Metroid Prime is a fun game to strafe, platform, avoid attacks and creative attack patterns being required. But any change that will cause you to approach the boss on purpose feels like it will conflict with the game. If it does exist, one way that could work would be a weak point type deal. Like the boss collapses because you broke a weak point and now you need to go in for the cinematic big hit. That could work.
You make a cogent point which I think purists always hate to recognize- which is what makes them purist. Metroid Prime's formula is dated- although even the origin's visuals are timeless by design. I noticed that Remastered does introduce an enhanced shooting experience by that one small change- and it began with Hunters! In a sense, the modernization began there.
I have a significant portion of friends who are more interested in Metroid Prime because it’s a 3D exploration adventure game with first person shooting elements than a first person shooter with 3D exploration adventure elements. I wouldn’t call myself a purist by any means, but I wouldn’t call the formula outdated, because the shooting was never the most important part. I’m sure the shooting will be ‘better’ but the idea that it needs to lean heavier into the FPS combat to be modern or good is asinine. If I wanted to play Halo, I would play Halo. I want to play a 3D Metroid.
Hey andres, i tried to get into metroid prime remastered and metroid dread But its not catching me. This "dirty" Alien worlds are just not fun to explore at least not for me. First Person is another topic.
I feel I need to rant on this a little, sorry: I _really_ don't get all this -ve emotion (dare I say, even apathy) towards Open-world games. For example, I think it's quite selfish of so-called 'Zelda fans' to weigh in their *opinions* about how ''Zelda must go back to the old'' and then totally ignore the *Facts that are the sales figures.* Tears selling _over 22 million_ vs Twilight's 12 million and all some can do is live in denial?? Aren't those 20 million Zelda fans too? So aren't We gatekeeping now?
I'm sorry but the " reaching a larger audience " thing : i just can't hear that anymore. For example it ruined the Halo franchise ... Not all games have to become generic by " reaching a larger audience " .. " a larger audience " often means : - extremely easy games (no challenge at all) - boring open worlds. - ESG scores (thanks to the woke far left agenda) - lack of identity. Nah ! I don't want that for the Metroid Prime series. Edit : Nintendo has to be smart about it. Sometimes a " larger audience " like Elden Ring actually works. But most of the time it doesn't work . So of course it makes me worried . I'm not talking about sells here. Many trash games sell pretty well. Many great games don't sell well.. Who cares if Metroid Prime 4 sells super well or not as long as it's a great game.
What changes could come to Metroid Prime 4 that will help it reach a larger audience while also still feeling like a proper Metroid game?
It doesn't need bigger sales. As long as Nintendo makes a profit it's a win for them. Not every game can have Mario sales, that's delusion to believe otherwise.

I would love not an open world; but an Immersive Sim style Metroid Prime like Deus Ex or Prey (2017) with tight but layered level design that allows for lots of creativity and paths with your different abilities.
Maybe more along the more fast paced Dishonored.
I disagree because they Doom Eternal port plays surprisingly well
Ok, I have this crazy and totally new concept for prime 4. Make it a third person shooter and have Samus shoot ink and swim in it.
Call it "Legs"
Splatoon sucks
@@chrisj320ac3 what’s a splatoon?
Some Mirrors Edge type traverse would be cool. And they need to make sure the soundtrack is super atmospheric like the Trilogy.
''Give her more CQC options for up close/personal take downs and make them satisfying to execute.'' Other M had more or less exactly that.
Exactly.
I think Metroid Prime 4 needs to be shown since it is way too long. The game should be almost done. I would buy Metroid Prime 4.
I'm pretty confident we'll see it this year.
@@Rundas045 Metroid Prime 4 likely won't be shown until the Switch sucessor reveal trailer!

I know I want melee attacks. Remastered wS my first time playing MP and I kept wanting to smack enemies who got close.
I really hope we get remasters of Primes 2 and 3 before MP4 is released.
That is a possibility.
Echoes is the best game in the series.
Oh yeah I agree with this video big time, especially considering the state Metroid was on before Dread saved the franchise.
Fast travel between save stations kinda like in Elden Ring makes perfect sense!
Just look at what happened to breath of the wild, It sold a lot, but many veteran fans don't consider it a "real Zelda"
I'm a big fan of Metroid, but I'm totally open to the changes that Retro includes in the game
@@barbaraziviani9123 For sure - I don't get the mindset of a sequel has to be the same as the previous iteration. Not saying there can't be criticism or preferences but some open mindedness would be nice to see. Mario games mix it up.
Let's goooo, a fellow 2d metroid enjoyer. Zero Mission is the perfect game.
A nice change would to be more Sci fi creature horror influences. Make it scarier like Alien isolation.
i think with the success of Dread and prime remastered Metroid 4 will sell surprisingly well
First change: heavily advertise it.
Yes.
Let's gooooo Mr restart 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
We'll I seriously hope it lives up to the hype, and finally makes Metroid a big seller. Though considering Metroid franchises track record, will be lucky if its sells 5 million in two months.
>BRING COMMANDING THE GUNSHIP BACK
>Fast paced, interesting combat
>Optional upgrades, areas and bosses
>Open-ended exploration (i dont want the game to be open world tough)
>Melee
>Better movement tech (Slide, wall running, grapple, speed booster)
>Give old items new uses, like what they did to the grapple beam in prime 3 (maybe we can get some expansion options)
>Better puzzles, and more morphball puzzles (Part of what made sanctuary fortress in prime 2 so interesting to me was the different and fun puzzles)
>Expand the Metroid universe with more lore and details
>More cinematic moments. I hope to see more cutscenes that happen in real time, not interrupting gameplay, or in first person.
>Give the visors more than 1 use
>New suits unique to this game, i'm tired of Power, Varia and Gravity suits
>Better bosses
>A variety of multiplayer components, such as leaderboard and online game-modes
>Built in Randomizer and boss rush
>Flesh out Samus character and her rivallry with Sylux
With the amount of waiting we’d done since the game got delayed I hope it’s good and sell’s well.
My Dream Scenario:
* Just Cause levels of Grapple hook action. Not just to poimts or shields but to any surface lacking obstacles and any to enemy your strong enough to.
* A plasma blade on your left arm like the space pirates have for actual melee combat. Complete with sick DOOM style finishers
* Bring back the Command Visor from Prime 3; with MGS5 levels of utility (even a custom soundtrack to blast music when it attacks)
* Add a Souls-style multiplayer where you can hire other hunters (in universe NPCs or players with custom hunters) for Co-Op.
Who’s your favorite space bounty hunter, Samus or Spike?
Please no open world, no crafting, no skill trees, no rpg mechanics, etc. Some changes are fine, but let the series keep its distinct identity.
Make the maps less confusing
hi AndresRestart
some peope assume an open world metroid would be something it doesnt need to be, but the arkham games are open world and i think a metroid like that would be pretty fun
It needs to go 3rd person. It would allow them to do more movement wise. And actually seeing her do cool shit would be fun.
It would also be less disorienting for casual gamers.
Open it up a little so there is room to do things with the added movement options (doesn't need to be full open world or anything)
Am I the only one who hopes for Amiibo exclusive stuff for MP4? Not as little stuff like missile/energy expansions?
I would love Prime 100x more if there were auto saves.
If Metroid goes open world, it'll be a Metroid game in name only.
Why would you have the franchise abandon the very genre that it pioneered?
I do not agree with changing the way samus shoots. Love your content but I completely disagree. I don’t want a machine gun EDIT btw I’m glad you agree that we need it in first person and i love your ideas about how we can integrate more cameras angles
(IRONY ON) :) Lets see what we need: multi-level monetisation, loot boxes, trendie charms on weapon barrels and pinky-purple camo suit just for 5 dollars extra over purchased battlepass :D :D Jokes apart:
The changes we definetly DONT need is multiplayer, and open-world, and i tell why...
"Attempt to discuss Nintendo" heh
All I want is for Samus to not get woke.
" a larger audience " often means :
- extremely easy games (no challenge at all)
- boring open worlds.
- ESG scores (thanks to the woke far left agenda)
- lack of identity.
It will have multiplayer and it will be better than Halo
