      He’s really adorable and I hope he’ll recover soon. Just look on the bright side Barker. After you have the surgery you’ll be able to breathe better and sleep better. It’ll be good for you in the long run.

    I had the same exact surgery last year and I didn’t eat solid food for 2 weeks TIPS-
    1.) try not to eat a lot of dairy because it will make you have a lot of snot and you have to swallow it after surgery and if you swallow a lot of it you will throw up
    2.) MAC AND CHEESE is amazing start like day 3-4 after surgery
    3.) eat as much as you can the day of the surgery because that is the best it will feel because you still have the meds in you
    4.)It gets worse before it gets better
    5.) Drink a lot of water
    Hope Parker’s surgery goes well

      Yeah I had it when I was little because I had so much snot in the first place. I think it’s due to a more apparent dairy allergy but yeah. I wanted nothing to do with ice cream. Also USE LISTERINE it feels so good on your surgery area

    My daughter went through the same thing at Parker’s age!
    1 - if he’s never had any pain medication before he may have an adverse reaction to them. My daughter got INCREDIBLY sick because of the pain meds, just prepare yourself that he may not be able to take his prescribed meds. We ended up just giving high doses of Advil. (Hopefully that’s not the case with Parker, it just made Audrey’s recovery a little tougher)
    2 - not too much dairy! It can make them cough which is just killer on their little throats. Audrey did better with sherbet, popsicles, jello, soups, tea, etc.
    3 - his breath is going to knock you down with its potency. Also, don’t panic when you look at his throat a couple days after surgery. It’s literally THE GROSSEST thing you’ll ever see. 😂😂
    4 - Audrey’s recovery was a solid 10 days. Luckily you guys have lots of helping hands and extra love to give.
    It’s a tough surgery but he will be great! And seeing your child on the loopy juice before surgery is one of the upsides as a parent 😜. OH!!! And Audrey’s voice definitely changed. She went from sounding like an old woman who smoked a few packs a day, to a little girl with a little girl voice.

      leighmidd AGREED!! I had my tonsils out at 18, my son had his tonsils and adenoids out at 3.... go with sherbets instead of ice cream!!! (The cough is killer!!) Prayers Parker has a fast & easy recovery!

      @yarnmom816 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Agree! I had mine out (as an adult) and dairy was no bueno. Sorbet and popsicles were perfect! And yes, he will have dragon breath about 3-4 days after. Also he will have a little bump in pain around the same time as the scabs heal; keep encouraging fluids and it’ll get better again after a day or so. You got this Parker!

      This was greatttt advice! Dairy is NOT the way to go! Super correct on that. I recommend to buy them some new fun comfy jammies ( to make the happy and feel just.. happy! ) and just snuggle up on the couch with them! The siblings can have lots of fun watching the movies with Parker, and it will seem bad, but just look for the positive side!!

  • @Grannie-D
    @Grannie-D 5 ปีที่แล้ว +69

    As a pediatric nurse the best advice I could give is to Give Parker his pain meds or Tylenol as prescribed DO NOT WAIT UNTIL HE IS IN SEVERE PAIN BECAUSE IT WONT WORK. And no straws if he gulps liquids to fast it will hurt sips from a spoon is best. Popsicles are great but freeze pops work better nothing red

    Oh wow! I'm so glad that they are going ahead with removing them. It took us a few years, but the doctors eventually agreed that it was necessary for me as well. I got my tonsils and adenoids removed when I was 9. It significantly improved my life lol no more rediculous amounts of tonsillitis.
    For suggestions from my experience: Home made popsicles were the best because you can add pineapple juice (natural anti-inflamitory) and reduce the fake sugar amounts.

    I just had my tonsils and adenoids out last month and the absolute WORST part was playing the waiting game for two weeks, so just try your best to keep him busy with things that he can do sitting and without talking (for the most part) things like movies, coloring, Pictionary, small puzzles etc. and besides popsicles I suggest soup and soft muffins and nothing too sticky. He'll probably not want to drink water because it hurts, so I suggest to try to get him to drink as much water as possible right after he takes his meds because that should hurt less. He'll also probably sleep a lot which is really good for passing time. Hope this helps!

  • @TessMac

    My son had the exact same thing done at about Parker’s age. (He was slightly older at 8..He had troubles breathing, eating & also with his tonsils holding constant bacteria causing him to get sick ALL the time with strep & other illnesses.)
    Although it was scary as a mom, it made a WORLD OF DIFFERENCE for my little man. The surgery was honestly quite easy for my son (I was a mess obviously! Haha) & He was FULLY recovered eating normally after about 7-10 days if I recall. (He’s 17 now. So it’s been a while) Lots of Frosty’s From Wendy’s. Sonic Slushies & LOADS OF POPCICLES!
    His voice actually had a similar nasally sound to Parker’s & after the procedure my son Jacobs singing voice actually got remarkably better. He also breathes better at nighttime...Although we’d hoped it would help him FINALLY sleep through the night..But it didn’t...Still at 17 he’s up at least once a night! He’s gotten strep throat far less.
    Sending Parker lots of prayers for strength, protection & courage before his surgery. Also praying for his mama & dad as it’s never easy to watch your kiddos be put to sleep & have a surgery...Let alone watch them in pain. God’s blessings to you all. Merry Christmastime!

      Tess McClaine I actually have the same thing but my breathing is way better, I didn’t get them removed but I almost did bc I always get this thing called (I’m french, so I don’t know what this type of cold is called) omidalite, omidales are tonsils, it’s a sickness caused by large tonsils, I usually can’t talk when I have this bc it hurts to much

    I have my tonsils and adenoids out! I remember being in a lot of pain afterwards, but I heard the younger you are the less it hurts.. I also noticed the pain medication didn’t really help and made me feel sick, so I just took Advil... I also had tons of popsicles and smoothies and ice cream (Parker is going to love it lol) and since they cauterize the throat, you’re left with a bunch of white stuff at the back of your throat so it looks kind of weird but it goes away.. and my recovery didn’t take too long! Wishing Parker luck and I know it’s going to help him so much 💗

    • @amberrose4999

    I had my tonsils and adnoids out when I was 36 years old and before that i always got colds, strep throat, flu's and now since having them out, Ive not been sick once and now im 45 so 9 years without a cold? Goodbye tonsils! Also, fun fact: Reese Witherspoons father was my surgeon! He was an ENT surgeon here in Nashville, he has since retired but he was so nice and when I came out from ansthesia and was loopy and he came in to see how I was doing, all I did was ask him if Reese was going to come and see me while I was there? He would laugh and he said "ill see if I can reach her on the phone" lol he was so nice.

Having your adenoids out leaves barely any discomfort, just sore throat and stuffy nose for a couple of days however tonsils were sore so plenty of ice cream and cold things. You will feel so much better for it Parker and I hope you have a speedy recovery! 💙

    I got my tonsils and adenoids out when I was 5 same age as Parker. The worst part for my parents was I was infected so my tonsils would randomly swell to the point I wouldn't be able to breathe. My mom watched me like a hawk. But we made it though surgery fine. I was stubborn when it came to eating I loved getting all the popsicles, ice cream, shakes, smoothies, mashed potatoes etc. But after just a few days I was starting not liking not being able to chew and it took my mom a very long time to convince me that I would get to eat meat and chewable food again just had to do a few more sleeps. Side not my mom made me the biggest thing of mashed potatoes and would heat them up whenever I wanted them and she was very confused when I was upset I had to eat them again because I love love mashed potatoes. My favorite part of the surgery and every surgery I've ever had to go though was getting a new stuffed friend and getting to go to my favorite ice cream place for a milkshake. My advice even though Parker seems so excited about it wake up can be scary and he might cry when he first wakes up right out of surgery it's normal but that's when I got my new friend then I would fall back asleep and wake up totally find a bit in pain but better. So my advice definitely give him something to look forward to when he wakes up and when you leave the hospital. Definitely helps with the pain and the strange thing they just went though.

    I got my tonsils removed when I was 7 because every time I got sick they would swell up and they wouldn’t go back down, and they got to be the size of golf balls, so I was breathing through a hole the size of a straw. One thing that helped some for me after I got them removed was chewing gum, not only for bad breath, but it helped with the soreness some. Chewing gum also helped my mouth not be so dry, a big plus to the gum is that it helped for a longer time compared to a popsicle which would only last about 10 or so minutes. I feel that Parker’s voice will change mine changed very little and I didn’t notice but other people did. I wish him the best of luck though and I’m sure it will go great.

      Quirk Shop Studios ?? Well not to start a fight but I got the Notification that they uploaded right after their livestream and I got there first and there was no comments and I put one first so but it doesn’t matter we shouldn’t have too worry about small things we should worry about Parker and give him positive energy for his surgery

    I had my tonsils removed at a young age. Mine were always enlarged and almost touching, they were removed due to the fact I got strep throat 6 times in the span of a year... yikes. I don't remember being in much pain after the surgery, my mom made sure to give me my pain meds right away on routine. I mostly remember being tired and resting a lot right afterwards. Mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese were my go-to and saving grace! Anything that was soft and easily swallowed. I do remember my gag reflex being triggered at random times for no reason, I don't know if that was from the surgery or not but it didn't last long. My recovery was quick and I was up and out playing outside in no time. You'll do amazing, Parker! It'll feel really nice to be able to swallow with ease and not choke. Sending you guys some love and positivity for a smooth surgery and recovery!

    I love your videos, and this is coming from a place of love and concern. Was that your rabbit in the garage? That seemed like a small cage and not enough for the rabbit to fully stretch out or hop to exercise. I hope that the rabbit is okay - also I'm sure the noise of the drums is really scary for him. Again, not trying to criticize at all but just wanted to ask.

    • @Gramie112
      @Gramie112 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe they let the rabbit out of the cage quite often but yea, when I saw those drums next to it I cringed. Maybe after some time it got used to the noise but I doubt it wouldn't run away if it had a choice..

      @melodyowen1375 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ThatGirlAgain yeah I agree. Something about that part of the video just felt off and I really hope the rabbit feels safe and has the space, attention, and exercise he/she needs. Obviously it’s hard when you have four kids but I’m sure they could find someone to help give it a new home if they needed to!

    Both my kids had they're tonsils and adenoids taken out for the same reasons as Parker trust me it's best to do it while he's young.. I had mine done when I was 14 n it was horrible. Get his medication flavored cuz it's very nasty.. chicken noodle soup. Put a humidifier or cool mist vaporizer in his room. Gargle warm salt water.

    he will be gutted when he finds out new advice is to eat scratchy foods to aid recovery..... it brings the blood to the surface and speeds up the healing. thats the advice i was given when i hav mine removed and my daughter is having hers removed too soon. both because of large tonsils and stones. hope al goes well. make sure he doesnt share any cups, forks etc when recovering as infections are easy to get and nasty.

    • @Snvlogss

      Not necessarily. Depends on the doctor I was informed not to eat scratchy or hard food when I had mine out. They didn’t want me opening my stitches. Plus I didn’t want to eat anything because my throat hurt so much
