  • What is the best thing to do if you have a meniscus tear in your knee? Our natural response when something breaks is to want it fixed.
    IN THIS VIDEO
    00:00 - Intro
    02:02 - Presentation
29:46 - How can the degeneration of meniscus be cured/stopped?
33:16 - Does a long posterior horn tear require surgery?
41:58 - Should I be doing squats with osteoarthritis?
46:46 - Will Knee Recovery Program help with medial patellar facet degeneration?
49:03 - Horizontal meniscus tear with knee clicking and tibia wobbliness.
55:33 - Can reactivation of hamstring help knee alignment?
59:50 - Pressure in the knee after a medial meniscus tear. The doctor says no surgery, what to do?
1:05:42 - Palpation reveals no hot spots, but going on all 4's at the right angle, will cause very sharp pain. Could that be a meniscus tear?
1:07:44 - How can this one program (Knee Recovery Program) address all of these issues?
1:10:41 - Thoughts on lingering right knee pain? The doctor says it's nothing, but something feels different.
When your doctor tells you that your meniscus is torn, your first thought is likely, “what do I need to do to fix it?”. Bring your questions today as we cover the most recent research and what you can do to address knee pain before deciding on surgery.
Frequently, your Physical Therapist or Family Doctor will send you to a surgeon and hope that the damaged meniscus can be fixed surgically.
Then, everything will be OK. After all, arthroscopic partial meniscectomy is one of the most common surgical procedures performed in North America!
    But should it be?
A meniscus tear may not be fixable for several reasons. The type of tear, factors such as the presence of arthritis, and your knee's overall condition will determine what steps to take.
Sometimes surgery is the way to go for a meniscus tear. But there are also times when you should only consider surgery as a last resort.
Join us this week to hear Dr. B’s take on this topic and discuss up-to-date literature on the role of arthroscopic partial meniscectomy to treat meniscal tears of the knee.
Learn how Dr. B and Coach E are tackling the issue of knee pain and meniscus tears in a new program called The Knee Recovery Program. They designed this course to help anyone with an acutely painfully swollen knee from any wear and tear caused.
The program aims at decreasing pain and swelling. We also focus on preventing the recurrence or progression of your wear and tear pathology. And, if you needed surgery, it is a great way to get your body back into action.
You may be wondering why one program can deal with all sorts of wear and tear issues, ranging from meniscus tears, arthritis, chondromalacia patella, and acute ACL tears? Well, that is a great question!
The answer relates to our philosophy of getting to the root cause of the knee problem. Why did your knee break down in the first place?
The Knee Recovery Program addresses the general movement disorders that cause mechanical overload and then a breakdown of various tissues in the knee.

We’re covering a lot of information in this session. We will also introduce how we propose to study the Knee Recovery Program using the KOOS questionnaire. I cannot wait!
I hope you will join us with your questions and comments!

I've had ups and downs in my meniscus tear recovery, but whenI realized the downs got progressively worse, I knew it was time to drop my ego completely and start from 0 with your knee program. I never would've thought that I'd have so much trouble activating the VMO! I'm in the last phase of the program and still do activation exercises throughout the day just to keep my knees active with this sedentary lifestyle.

My 13 year old daughter has a tear in her white zone. Her swelling has resolved and usually pain free. She isn’t olaying volleyball now. We are trying to avoid surgery. One doc says he doesn’t think he can repair and may need to do a partial menisectomy which I don’t want

Hi and sorry for the late reply.
The Knee Pain Solution Program was designed for people like your daughter. It's not clear if she can avoid a procedure but the program will strengthen her to the point to prepare her for it (if necessary) and certainly help her to recover faster.
