Dust 514 was one of the most fun shooters I have EVER played. There has been nothing like it when it comes to the level of customization it had with your suit power, shield or armor tanking, etc.
It's weird hearing about one of my first honest to gods FAVORITE games from a person who talks about one of my other favorite games. Being ED. It's crazy to think all these people i know because of ED likely played DUST514 with me without me knowing.
@ idk if you ever ran into me in DUST, but I was Aisha Ctarl. I was a part of PIE Inc and ran with True Adamance and Aero Yassavi.
Right, idky besides Vanguard devs never played Dust514. I say that because that's 514 was ahead of his time It was trying to do something that no other first person shooter has ever tried to do or had the universe to do the things that CCP was trying to do in Dust514. Vanguard should have just been Dust514 on unreal engine 5 same concept just on a newer engine. Dust514 was the best first person shooter that I've ever played. It wasn't call of duty It was so hard, so unforgiving it was amazing. Till this day there isn't or hasn't even been another game like Dust514. I love the fact that it was so hard and unforgiving. I don't understand why they didn't just stick with dust 154 road map from it would have been better than anything out. There is a high player base of first person shooters that do not like playing call of duty or interested in any type of Battle Royale type of shooters. There is a player base that they only want hardcore squad based first person shooters with customization of your character and how you go about playing the game.
Honestly dust 514 just looked and played better, had they released it on pc as well it would still be around.
Only if Sony didn't pay CCP to make it PS3 exclusive.
I played that on the ps3, it didnt have aim assist at the time. so to me it felt horrible.
Naw if they moved it to the PS4 maybe have cross play by now it would have been on the level of a Counter-Strike
My hope is Vanguard is a success and that CCP learned from Dust 514.
Good joke lol
as a Eve Online player, i can tell you that ccp never learn
The copium is strong with this one.
Having purposely avoided EVE all these years, as i already have a job and use excell...i have wanted to try EVE in some way but judging by the real experiences of many, i feel okay with never ever getting into it. Maybe whatever this is, might get me to try it.
I'm just glad they didn't try to put Vanguard on consoles. Tying itself to a specific console generation would have destroyed development, and PlayStation exclusivity did little favors to Dust514.
I am very optimistic for Vanguard
FINALLY! You are uploading in 4k. This is the step forward for your channel.
I'd love to see maps set on derelict ships or something like that, could be pretty cool
That's EXACTLY what I want! Spooky & claustrophobic dead hulks with weirder types of NPC enemies (rogue drones, Sansha zombies, etc...). It would make great use of the cutting tools, players could cut through bulkheads after loot or to outmaneuver enemies.
My god please, I need something to try and fill the hole DUST514 left in my heart
I feel like it just wont happen
Vanguard is moving too slowly and although the MMOFPS is a compelling ambition, it doesn't fill the DUST514 sized hole.
@@Alticroo They just recently showed test footage of 9v9 PvP with capturing orbital cannons to damage the enemy team's MCC, so I'd say they're getting closer. I believe that's even supposed to be in the next playtest in less than two weeks.
Vanguard is in pre alpha for a year or even two now. By the time there is any meaningful content everyone and their dog will bored of it. Even right now, except sponsored content like this. It has almost zero traction. There is zero content. Playtests feels meaningless. It's full of very dumb bots (nostalgia of early 2000 FPS hits so hard...) or aimbots. If you are lucky enough to find actual player. From grand scale combat we get map size of counter strike maps. Only thing they learned from DUST is how to make failed Projects and waste money. But that's CCP being CCP.
For a Vanguard to has any success and be worthy successor of DUST. We need Planet Side 3 level of the game. Not extractor shooter inside shoe box
I'd kill for a Planetside 3 done right.
Planetside style for what? To have hundreds of people on the map with incomprehensible chaos and no interest. No thanks.
The entire intent of what they've been talking about while running these tests (where they've also been making changes based on our feedback and introducing new content) is to build the game up to allow exactly that. It bears keeping in mind that EVE Online started out not even being able to handle 100 ships on the same grid, and now it can handle an active fight between 6k+ thanks to tech they developed over the years. EVE started out VERY small in the actual gameplay loops before growing into what it is now, and starting small like this will probably work here too.
The industry right now is a graveyard of overly ambitious projects that tried to deliver a goldmine up front and failed at the smallest levels of gameplay loops. I think starting small is probably a safer bet.
@@GamerichGame It's kind of sad having been there in the Beta tests talking about having Lattice to guide the fights from base to base, then having the game launch without it and be exactly what you just described.
I'll ALWAYS remember John Smedley promising on the forums "We aren't trying to make MMO Battlefield 3", and then they did exactly that. That gameplay style works perfectly for a 64-player server with well-made maps, but trying to do that with 2000 players on a 10x10km map was stupid.
It's Alpha, by definition it's missing a lot of features. The weird scrim matching for the tests probably isn't even how final deployments will work. Far better for them to take their time instead of rush something out, they know this is their last shot at an fps.
I love Dust so I'm excited for this.
Andy DT, Network, TortoiseX, Valene. It's been 20 years but I still remember my old corp mates.
EVE is too niche for many players and most of it's influence is as some kind of warning for other devs NOT to focus too much on PvP.
Honestly, as much as I love EVE lore and the whole premise of EVE Online. I find this Vanguard idea extremely boring.
So if I understand correctly, you just drop in to a relatively small map, by the looks of it, 500x500m more or less. You then roam around an arena with pockets of NPCs to loot random containers. And this is shoved at you through an idea of missions like "loot 3 superconductors".
This is supposed to tie in with EVE Online how exactly?
I'm sorry but in this day and age we have higher expectations than a closed arena with a few maps repeated over and over but "set on different planets". I mean, if I take over a system in FW in EVE, and a planet can be conquered, how can this tie into a single dude running around a shot down freighter looting boxes of iron ingots? At least DUST had the idea of a battlefield style game with vehicles and two armies fighting for control over structures and territory with orbital support from Destroyer captains in orbit.
In addition I feel like this game simply does not fit into the EVE universe, by that I mean, where's the role-play element? Why am I suddenly controlling a random dude dropped from orbit into a derelict part of the universe? What's the point? To loot a 2kg box?
Also also, how many maps do they intend to make? Because it seems to me that they plan to incorporate this Vanguard game as part of say, factional warfare. So that implies fighting on dozens or hundreds of different planets in hundreds of different situations. So you're telling me that CCP will handcraft 500,000 different maps which all fit different planet types and zones within each planet? Or is it going to be 6 maps on repeat like call of duty but you're alone running around and mindlessly shooting NPCs and other players?
I'm sorry but coming from a whole "galaxy" of free movement and seamless transitions between locations (excluding stargates) this looks like unreal tournament from the 90's set in a claustrophobic arena.
Please take this a constructive criticism from a big EVE fan who is simply disappointed CCP took away walking in stations and with it immersion.
Vanguard is nothing compared to Dust 514. Vanguard is basically a crappy kids version of Tarkov. I still wonder to this day how a company that made EVE Online could then make the decision to make Dust 514 PS3 exclusive. IMO if they made Dust 514 for PC it would still be alive today and I would still be playing EVE. Such a tragedy.
I hope we'll have faction specific gear
Dont care about this vanguard thing at all, honestly I'm almost completely moved on from EVE and the huge multiboxing environment it's become. Finding more enjoyment in Elite or Star Citizen these days
Star citizen is great!
Eve Frontier is planned to be a sequel to Eve online
Haa, if you didn't have EVE in the title I would have thought that this was a UI mod for Starfield. Thanks for the video Obsidian.
thanks for saying clearly that this is an ad
Also, I yearn to be reunited with my Amarr scout and Proto Scrambler Rifle.
Eve Online is still the GOAT
I really enjoyed Dust514 and Eve. I still play Eve. How is this game going to be an MMO? The test maps are small in comparison to an MMO.
We need eve valkyrie and warzone back
I rlly like eve online but if you are not an omega player you just play a demo so thats why I quit. Do you think they will bring montly sup to EVE vanguard?
@@melik3976 When asked about it in the Discord on a Q&A I believe the answer was one-time-purchase.
@MidnightWyvern thank you
Vanguard will come to ps5 just like dust once did maybe even starfield
They already did this with Planetside 2. Oh well, hoping for good things.
planetside 2 is exclusively pvp and has no economy, no?
@ then global agenda. Where you could loot and auction house wares between players. But also has the open world shooter aspect.
This game is garbage, DUST514 was the better game and should of been on PC
I hope they someday link up Eve Online, Vanguard and Echoes into one shared universe. It would be amazing that you get a text from a friend in Vanguard and launch a care package from Echoes, or do some mining in Echoes that contributes to your faction in Eve Online.
Have Vanguard players go after PI factories… 😅
They would make for good combat zones, or smash-and-grabs at the storage/extraction sites.
EvE-online nowadays is all about pushing you towards buying Plex to omega all your multibox accounts XD
Also CCP is only doing the bare minimum in terms of caring for EvE Online. The game is full of deadend half realised and abandoned content thats barely working (Cosmos missions anyone?) PvE content that is allmost as old as the game itselfe and if youre not part of a big Bloc youll have a hard time even getting the time of the day from CCP.
So buy more Plex so you dont have to waste time in the broken scarcity crippled economy so you can buy non T-1 ships that are actually worth flying but that also will get blown up by veterans youll never be able to compete with.. unless you buy more Plex to buy skill injectors ofcourse!
Saying "EvE-online" is all about the community is a load of BS. Its about extracting as much money out of the couple thousand players that are left in the game. The fact that most accounts are nothing but multi boxing alts and that said multi boxing is allowed and encouraged shows that CCP doesnt give a rats ass about "the community". How is any new player suposed to compete not only with the massively over skilled veterans... but veterans that multibox entire fleets farming content... including said new players?
Also this latest "expansion"? Its a patch really.. 2 new ships and a mechanic for skyhooks thats limited to 1 player per skyhook? Killer expansion content there....
Oh well.. let me get back to ratting...
Now tell us about a long lasting game concept with similar efforts of RL that will be played by thousands of player daily without a job or life. I am curious if you might have a brilliant idea or if you really know how a company works in RL capitalism with employees playing their bills with real money and not ISK.
@@KleiniTM If there was another game like EvE being put on the market, EVE would cease to exist. EvE is still successfull because they have a monopoly, not because they do such an exceptional job.
Case in point: EVERY other game they have TRIED to get on the market has MISERABLY failed so far. From their first EvE FPS to their white wolf world of darkness attempts. All crashed and burned and most of them before they could even fully get out of the door.
Face it: CCP has no friggin clue what they are doing
Also really? "Wont anyone think about the poor multi million dollar corporation?" Thats your argument? Hows CCPs boots taste?
'sponsored' by the people who made the game. First time I've seen obsidian sell out. What you're watching here is an advertisement
Calm down bro if not start your own channel and take the moral high ground
@@michael36944Completely irrelevant comment.
Perhaps or perhaps it's just an analysis from someone who loves the frenchise and has to pay some bills while staying as neutral as possible under the circumstances, I'm not condoning or condemning here, just don't see any malicious intent
He has a few times before 😂 even sponsored he seems to only either accept ones he is generally positive of or neutral of.
Uh, OA has done many sponsored videos. You new here?
More one trash generic shooter...
oh it looks like eve online is bacly fanaly geting ronud to make a version of dust 514 but this time tey are not giong to make the same mistake of trying it in sony servers and consule exclisty this time. also they have to fill that gap in teh main even game meta interaction that dust 514 bacly when it shut down bascly broke. so this bascly bascly CCP seconud go at the FPS gronud combat part of eve online wit hte space legs that due to sony cuseing issues had to be temrpry set back and rebult from teh gronud up agein with the space legs on the boots on the psace ship and gronud part of the game that had bsacly been temopery put in cold ice for a while. ccp has bee ntrying to bacly rebuild of what sony bacly runied a long time ago. older eve online players would know that this better work this time aronud wihout some tpye of thrid party realted server and servace disater from bacly that the last time ccp tryed this with sony bascly sony runied it on there end.
also this time even olnie is goring the palent side 2 route this time aronud.
Didn’t hear anything about crypto etc. Hope they have dumped all that.
You are thinking of EVE Frontier - a different project altogether
So what is this game for, beside crypto venue? It is a FPS outside EVE online, so can't really park your ship, get out and go FPS around... Is it a spin-off that has relations to the main game in terms of actions and consequences? Feels like a lot of efforts for a simple FPS but being based on crypto, it makes sense that they have to grab somewhere.
Honestly from what I can see it is the most bland and unappealing FPS ever made so far, not sure what grasp it may have on folks that do not play EVEO, so we will see.
EVE Frontier is their other project that has a blockchain background, not Vanguard.
meh
Can't believe you're promoting this crypto garbage.
You are thinking of EVE Frontier - a different project altogether
This isn't the weird blockchain game. The players made it pretty clear they didn't want that anywhere near EVE proper and Vanguard. I'm hoping Frontier fizzles out in development.
@@giantnerd14 The problem is that with eve frontier being crypto slop they've associated the name of eve online with crypto slop, so whenever someone from outside the echo chamber hears 'eve' they associate it with 'isn't that the weird crypto slop game for weirdo's?', which is not good optics.
Why are they so eager to create a fps? Why not just give us some better PvE options in EVE? (I know i'm going to regret posting this)
It's about finding new players. It's difficult to attract newbies to EVE at this point, and fps gameplay is easier to grasp vs the main game's learning cliff. I imagine they hope eventually players who start in the universe in Vanguard might eventually jump into the Internet spaceships too.
if game will be f2p may be have chance for game do not stillborn
Eve online woud have been huge if not for stupid pvp.
g8 b8 m8
I find this confusing, because then what would have been the point of playing the game? The only reason any element of it works is because of the player-driven economy which is driven by PvP destroying assets that need to be replaced.
Having played many Space Combat games Ive heard this from a lot of friends. Basically the ship combat is very point and click and almost abstract like a fire works show vs. something like a Privateer or Star fleet command 3, or more modern Star Citizen. Personally EvE combat has always felt more like a “homeworld”.
I like both styles but I do see how it can be Off putting for some.
