As always if I have made any mistakes or missed anything please comment below and I will fix it up as best I can.

The 1st one was designed to fit the rifle without any modifications to rifle, that is why it has the wings on the pommel.

After the reunification with east Germany the Bundeswehr had so many east german bayonets that they introduced it as Kampfmesser schwer (fighting knife heavy) into the arsenal. It saw service, but many soldiers ducktaped the scabbard at the vest or webbing.
This goes so far that the old G36 has a bayonet lug for the AK system.
We switched to KM2000 and don't train fighting with bayonets anymore.
Edit: the ring had to be changed to fit the flash hider of the g36 and this is a modification that was made rarely and on private Initiative

Have you seen any video or websites showing how the second one was manufactured? Just curious if anyone attempted to replace the chewed-up bakelite with a modern wood or resin alternative, and if so, how they went about it and maintained functionality of the push-button release.

No I haven't seen anything like that, but it sounds very interesting. I will definitely keep my eyes open

Loving these videos! Can you or anyone verify if any Sevian (Yugo) Ak47s bayonets were made with Red handles? I've seen the usual black handles, but I recently saw one with a Red handle and the person is claiming it to be genuine Yugo/Serbian AK bayonet

The closest I can think of is a Yugo M70E bayonet made for Iraq in Orange. But I think they gave the tooling to Iraq and they were made there
