It's not a good idea to allow yourself to fall victim to your feelings when you know how to kill people and you have PTSD. Too many vets have ended up in jail.
That’s the result of the PTSD therapy post military career. Getting to that point is something that takes a long time and a lot of blood, sweat and tears. Some never get there no matter how much therapy or drugs prescribed. I congratulate the OP if he’s really got it under control to that level. I do not, but I still try too.

Only some passing through, cults that tried to get the foot in the door in our area, but they soon dissapeared again.
The issue is a big one and prevalent in western society- not just our churches. Two scriptures come to mind: study to show yourself approved unto God (2 Tim) and Jesus mentioning the falling away of the church and the so called church leaders “tickling the ears”, in other words, telling the congregation what they want to hear rather than the truth. We see it not only in the church but in daily life as well. Our politicians, our media, our corporations, our education systems - all teach political correctness and proper speak. And if you tell the truth you’re labeled a bigot and accused of hate speech. If we truly study not just the Bible but historical texts and middle eastern cultures of the time, it’s easier to recognize when the lies are creeping in. Today’s megachurches, for the most part IMHO, are dens of iniquity, putting on shows of entertainment to lull the masses into complacency and acceptance of the crap being spewed from the so-called pastors’ mouths. This isn’t to say there are no good churches. That’s another area studying to show yourself approved comes in. And as parents it’s our jobs and responsibilities to make sure that we identify those churches that are truly following God and make sure that our children are exposed to them and not the entertainment centers that most churches in the West have become. Likewise, it’s our responsibilities to identify those politicians who are truly for the people and not for themselves. Sadly, they’re becoming harder and harder to find.
Mental break or not, being genuinely evil to people who love you and who you are supposed to love is not ok regardless. OP needs to get away from that crazy woman, she's evil. She might not be deliberately evil, but she still is evil. Maya and OP deserve better. Maya can still be saved, with proper therapy and support, but his wife is a lost cause. Even if she gets past this psychosis and returns to "normal" OP will forever and always know that the "normal" wife isn't actually her true self but just the mask she puts on. Her true self is the utterly effed up religious fundamentalist that finally broke loose. That will always be her true self and everything else if just a facade. Fake. False. OP and Maya deserve better.
OP needs to stay strong for Maya and never leave her. She needs her father, because the scars of having her mother in a cult will never heal. Grace is a lost cause. She would need (and WANT) a professional to de-program her from a lifetime of lies she's been fed. IMO, Grace ALWAYS wanted to return to the cult. She ran away because her other 'husband' physically abused her. But she always wanted to 'belong' to someone. She wanted the security of having a father figure telling her what to do. Even if that man was decades older and shared her bed.
Nta. To be able to accuse your own daughter of doing something like that, with a man who is clearly a father to her, there very clearly something wrong with her, which isn't necessarily her fault, but it is her fault for not getting help for it
She was probably not masking. More likely, she thought she’d left everything behind but deep down (likely subconsciously), she always felt guilty. Also, even though you walk away from toxic loved ones, you can still love them and miss them. It’s really hard to totally give up hope that a miracle will occur and you’ll suddenly have a wonderful relationship with them. So then you get the extreme stress of being a nurse during Covid and contact with a family member that tells you what your yearning heart wants to hear. Bingo! The childhood programming kicks in and the person who lived free, jumps right back into the toxic relationships. On top of that, the underlying guilt exacerbates the situation. You know the adage, there’s nothing worse than a reformed smoker. That applies to this situation just as aptly.
When a woman accuses of cheating you out of the blue, it's time to go through her phone and laptop as well. Cheaters often accuse their partner of cheating as well. Alarmbells should be going off in your head.
Honestly yeah. As someone with terrible trauma, I was a nightmare to deal with before therapy, meds, and a strong support group of friends. I'm far better now, better than some of my "normal" peers, but I couldn't imagine dating someone like unmedicated me. Or it'd happen all over again of getting into abusive relationships (I'm still working on boundaries and recognizing abuse but I'm getting better). Sometimes you have to just help yourself, ya know. You can't just fester in your traumas, we all deserve to live happy lives even if we gotta work a little harder
