You are an enabler! I just set up a 12" cube with Fluval Stratum as it's what I had available at my LFS I'm just waiting a couple more days for the cycle to complete as I'm just starting it from year old bio-media. Prime and Stability. Ordered Botanicals from Space City and waiting to get my Koi Betta from them after I have proper water parameters. I enjoy your videos, as well as your personality - very friendly and easy to listen to.
when you use super glue on hardscape you can take some of the soil and crush it between your fingers and sprinkle over the spot you glued. It makes it so you dont see any glue marks

Lovely tank and Sheriff is handsome! As others have mentioned, Giant is just a mutation of domestic Betta splendens, it's not a hybrid. Perhaps they meant that he's a cross between a giant and regular Betta? It'll be interesting to see how his color changes with time, since that's what marbles do :) (all koi/galaxy/Nemo/Candy/etc. are just marble with different colors showing). Whoever bred him did a nice job flare training him, he's gorgeous!

I have a $3.99 male veiltale betta that I “rescued” from a pet store and he doesn’t flare. He’s just super laid back plus he’s still a pretty young dude, no bubble nest in the month I’ve had him but he’s suuuuper happy, eats like crazy, sleeps under his bridge or on his hammock, is always crazy to see me walk up to the tank and say hello. I’m thinking he’s not quite mature enough to build a bubble nest yet but he’s the sweetest little guy ever!

plant fizz I was wondering if anyone else would pick up on that. As beautiful as the scape is, it’s barely enough room for a regular betta, let alone a giant

beautiful fish and absolutely beautiful aquascape! i just ordered myself a Black Samurai Halfmoon betta and i went around youtube looking for inspiration for a 10 gallon planted tank for the new betta. this is by far the best ive seen! mine wont come out like this BUT hope to come close! ill be posting a video of it all once its all set up and running next week! make sure to check out the channel!

He really is gorgeous! I know some breeders dislike the iridescent blue on the koi form, but I find it stunning. My betta has bubblenested, but he has never flared. I think he is ready for a tankmate cory. What is your opinion of the 4-6 month cycle time of planted substrate?

I have a beta fish, a bilnd one. I put him in my 60x30x35 cm aquascape tank with 4 baby discuses. They all get along very well, share food and space to swim.
Mike you need to make some room for the fish to swim through the wood because you know how there is space under the wood u covering it up so they can't swim through

@@morgannmorris8453 I know! He even has a funny little dance he dies when I feed him. He goes across the tank to the front of the glass and wiggles back and forth.

@@morgannmorris8453 cool! My fish has a black streak on his head to his top fin so I call him Silverstreak:)
Its a cool set up but you need to wait at least 7 days after you add those start ups before you add fish in it.
At that 7 days add a little bit of fish food to feed the bacteria you added too.
Or you can clean out a spondge from an already established filter in the water and wait only one day then add fish, its an instant cycle.
Id never add fish in while all those bubbles are still around. They can build up inside fish and cause death.

For Tannin I boil Magnolia leaves and sticks. Once the tannin tea is done, I add a cup at a time to get the right color and go with thaf.
You can also get tannin from any species of Oak and Cypress trees using bark or leaves. I plan to make a canister filter filled with oak bark and gravel as a bio filter that produces tannin.

I have a 65L (17G) betta tank with 2 females, 3 small albino snails and 9 neon tetras. They all get along very well and have never been aggressive to each other, this video gave me the idea of making just a beta tank so I can go full out crazy just for the bettas. Thx 😊

My sister got a HUGE veiltail from Petsmart. He's maybe 3 or 4 inches, he's so big! Do you know anything about that?
Wow!!! Sounds like the hulk ;) didnt know Petsmart carried any giants, though each one seems to carry a little bit different selection depending on region and top sellers

Beautiful setup & fish! I have a similar betta in a new 10 gallon planted tank. I've had the tank running for a few days with two filters from a cycled tank, added some Seachem Stability over the past three days and today the fish went in. He's fine but the water is still a little cloudy. Aside from testing and adding the Stability over the next few days, should I just leave the water alone for a couple of weeks? or should I start with frequent water changes? I've never cycled a tank with a betta in it before and I want to protect the fish from any spikes in ammonia or nitrites. I assume he should be ok as long as I test the water every few days.
That is one fiesty cheeky fish you got there. Comes looking for a fight at the front of the tank :)
