1914: The Shaping of the Modern Muslim World - Part 1 ~ Dr. Yasir Qadhi | 15th January 2014

  • เผยแพร่เมื่อ 18 ม.ค. 2014
  • 1914 marked the beginning of a series of catastrophic political and social changes that would lead to, amongst other things, the abolishment of the Islamic Caliphate and the division of Muslim lands into the modern countries of the Middle East that we are all familiar with.
    Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it. Muslims MUST learn the bitter realities that took place one hundred years ago, from the deceit and false promises of European powers, to the betrayals and political intrigues by local Muslim leaders (some of whose descendants continue to rule in that region to this day).
    In this highly provocative and well-researched lecture, Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi enlightens us regarding the major events that set the stage for the modern Muslim world. You'll be enthralled - we guarantee it! Watch and then SHARE with others.

      This is a foolish and vague argument given by orthodox muslims. We Muslims are the most religious people we lost because we rejected sciences. Hardcore mullas gave the Same argument during the Islamic golden age and banned studies of science.

      @Gulled Sheikh We failed on both the fronts, lack of real faith & lack of Asbab both our religion does not stop us to learn & innovate in the fields of science & technology but we stop on both the front praying but not practicing, is the main reason of our downfall. Islam teaches brotherhood, love towards fellow Muslims, even to show mercy towards non muslims, Islam teaches no racism, teaches unity, teaches not to divide, teaches not to steal, not to lie, not to ditch fellow human being, be fair in dealing, keep our words & promises, show good charcters to fellow human being, be just, a fair society, all we are lacking & we are the most corrupt people, see our dealings with our own people, we are not follow Quran & sunnah in general & at the same time we are not persuing education, we are left behind in modern times and the result is infront of us, we are accountable for our own downfall, but past is past we can not change, but we should not be pessimistic what we could change is future with our efforts, we should individually perform our duties.
      So, verily, with every difficulty, there is relief: Verily with every difficulty there is relief. Therefore, when you are free (from your immediate task), still labor hard. And to your Lord turn (all) your attention.

      @@mohammedshafique1646 You are not the one who can decide and define who is muslim who is not. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's goal was the real understanding and modern interpretation of İslam. That's the why he ordered the Turkish translation of Quran and Hadits. The translation of Muhammed Hamdi Yazır "Hak dini Kuran dili" is the best translation till this day and its ordered and financed by Atatürk. So who claims Atatürk wasn't muslim, should know that accusing a muslim with that is a great sin in İslamic religion.

I think if you scrutinize and think carefully on that subject, you should see the inconsistency of that claim and those who claims that. There was and still is people sects gruops and etc which are just "trading" islam. Mustafa Kemal just broke their hegemony on people. That's the why they want to revenge by discrediting and cursing on him and his reforms and reconstructions. This is the long story short.

      Baris peace: because I said some truth about mustafa (not so) kamal attaturk you feel offended is it because you was socialised indoctrinated into looking up to him or socialised into beliving West Europe is thoose to follow so you look up to them even tho if looking into history about good part of how things because as they became one will know better but if learning Islam in reality alerting about Quran and Sunnah example of best man the greatest man to walk on earth then if learning an d understanding from thoose two you have best example alps nothing specific in Islam to prevent to technologically advance in a good way what does forcing and removing Hijab from women have to do with making society become better in economical, technological sense and value sense opposite it take away some good part protection for feemale and display and may help spread immorality cause more zinnia make children be born outside of families and children grew up in unstable families or even with only one parent because of thoose things. Or make thoose parents kill so called abort their child which also at same time have psylogical consequences for mother and father who loose child. Then we have other things I guess where allowed as well, interest usury system of economy money system, Alcohol wasn't it also one of things he allowed, not to forget the extreme Nationalism that was and arriesed like kurdish who weren't allowed to learn /speak own language in schools splitting of population groups like that ethnic tensions issues I think also. Part of attaturk (even for nationalism/nationalizism may have started before him and to extent continued after and may have St time been worse. (I know my language English here sentences is little long but give idea about some of what I think alosnindidnt take good time to think deatailed about how to write deatails but point is not difficult for understand I think to get Good idea so it's good InshaAllah as. Long facts proofs from non Islamic non Muslim things I mentioned here.

      I think it was an interesting lecture that Westerners should watch to understand the Muslim mentality towards recent world history.
      As for the people who pressed thumbs down, they are probably remembering that the Ottoman were nomadic Turks from Central Asia who invaded regions that were primarily Greek/Byzantine and wiped out an entire culture. "Istanbul", is not a Muslim city, but a Greek city co-opted by Muslims through conquest. After taking Constantinople, the Ottoman used it as a base for enslaving large numbers of Europeans (and even US citizens).

    I, as a "turk", dont see any Arab betrayal. I just see british deception. Wake up brothers! The discussions and insulting tones of yours is exactly what they wanted to do and they have accomplished it in past. So don't fall for the same mistake. A believer can never fall into the same trick twice!

      toutenkarthony JazakAllah khayran brother! Yes, that's absloutely true Elhamdulillah. It was a great honor on Turks. It was nothing but only with the Allah's rahme and barakah. And he is the Creator of Causes after all. So this reality or any other likely historical position of any Muslim group should not lead us to an attitude that gives any priority to a nation over another one. We must keep in mind that Allah changes a nations position as they change their Islâm and the true nation of a Believer can be only the Nation of Islâm, the Nation of Abraham alayhessalam. When considering something in our history we should see the mirror side of it. To clarify, we all know that Ottomans lost their position because of corruption. So we do only raise with the Book of Allah, we can not miss these lessons.
      By the way, these are not personel. I just wanted to share these ideas here, wassalamu alaikum :)

      This is not a tribal issue, this is examining the mistakes of our entire Ummah over the past 100 years. The intention of knowing history is not to sling mud or create animosities, but to heal a festering wound and protect ourselves from cutting off our own feet again and again...

    I am curious. Why do Muslims seem to be nostalgic of the time of the Ottaman Caliphate? Did you want to be colonized by Turkey? I really can't understand that. Thanks for your answer.

    • @amak3
      @amak3 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Frank Einstein The unity of Muslims, once upon a time we considered ourselves Muslims not turkish, kurd, arab or Saracen whatever nonsense. The caliphate isn't an ethnic thing that's what the west fails to notice, it was by vote or sura of the ummah/community. The caliph was suppose to represent the good in us and the ability to act upon it. The caliph gave autonomy to the land, protected his people unlike the great powers and we were betrayed to live in less lands being pushed off not allowed even to live where we use to or like to or be ruled by tyranny that hated us Muslims, most probably out of jealousy.

    • @frankeinstein719
      @frankeinstein719 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      amak3 I think that this is only a fairy tale. People back then were just like today. They were motivated by the same things, land, power, resources. If the Ottoman Empire's only purpose was to unite all Muslims, why did they colonized Christian Lands in Eastern Europe? Why did Muslim countries like Morocco fought bloody wars with them to stay free? And why did the Arabs betrayed their Turkish brothers to make an alliance with the British (Probably the worst mistake ever done in 1400 years of history)?

    • @amak3
      @amak3 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Frank Einstein
      They conquer east Europe because Muslims want to visit or live there without being forced conversion or killed. We Muslim love to travel and dislike being killed because of our religion. We let other faith people live in our lands. There were Muslim factions that lost their way and became rogue so they needed to reunite sometimes they are violent. Nationalism poisoned us, arabs on the unity we had and use to that we forgot it's significance and saw it's importance after it left us.

    • @frankeinstein719
      @frankeinstein719 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      amak3 '' Muslims want to visit or live there without being forced conversion or killed''.
      I think you are trolling. You can't be serious. The Ottomans colonized Eastern Europe because... they wanted to go on a vacation? LOL
      Of course people will fight you if you invaded their home. If you are not welcome somewhere, why would you force your way in?
      ''We let other faith people live in our lands.'' You only let Christians and Jews live as dhimmis on your land. You don't want anything to do with other religions like Hinduism of Buddism. And why would a Christian European accept to be invaded by strangers and become a second class citizen on their own land?
      Israelis want the same thing than the Ottomans. Why wouldn't you let them ''visit'' Palestine. Palestinians can live as dhimmis in what was once their home. There is nothing wrong with this. Wouldn't you agree?
      Btw, you failed to explain why would other Muslim nations (like Morocco for instance) fight back their Turkish brothers. Your theories seems to be really far fetched.

    • @AbdulRahman-kq4pi
      @AbdulRahman-kq4pi 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Frank Einstein Muslims of today are taught about the glories of the Ottoman Empire and how it was a world power etc. You only need to look at Turkish Ottoman films for example. Since Muslims are in dire straits today, we live in the "glories" in the past. As for the caliphate, please it became a joke after the rashidun caliphates. So much blood was shed for the title, and everyone later on took the title by the sword, not by consensus

      You obviously have no idea how geopolitics work. Syria has one of the biggest and most strategic pipelines that connect middle east with Europe, Russia etc. NATO wants control over them. Exactly what they did in Iraq. Its just that they got bashed by the international community. But here they employed these takfiri khawarij to do the massacre. Also Syria happens to be the only Arab nation with no World bank debt. Hence International corporations do not have a monopoly over Syrian resources. See what they did in Iraq and Libya. The moment NATO got control, firms like Halliburton, Bechtel, BP etc usurped all the resources. If you had read history, you would have known that the same things have happened n Chile, Venezuela, Equador, panama, Iran in the last 50 years. US sponsored insurgency, they pay a few people to start a so called revolution, propaganda, regime change. immediately, the country's resources are controlled by Zionists. Read history my brother, before commenting on youtube !

    • @SabreenSyeed
      @SabreenSyeed 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gibran Mahmud The mercenaries themselves very proudly say that all their weapons are from US. John Kerry, Liebermann and McCain visit them regularly. Just recently US gave them anti tank missiles. These fake mujahideen (khawarij, since they are killing civilians) are being treated in Israeli hospitals. Now if you don't know this, im sorry you are living under a rock, because they themselves aren't even ashamed to state that billions have reached them through USAID. Also I know many sunni Syrians who are saying that these takfiri millitants are not even Syrian, they are outsiders. The don't know anything about Syria. The commander of FSA on the otherhand, has openly declared that all money, salaries and weopons come through NATO turkey from US, UK and Israel. Yes there is no doubt about what you said about Bashar..But is this they way u do jihad.. Can mujahideen be on US payrolls just because American corporations and banks are eyeing Syrian resources. Im sorry brother, this is not hoe my Beloved Messenger (saw) and his sahaba did jihad. they fought fi sabeelillah, not fi sabeeli America/Israel..

    How dare a man who was born in Texas and his parents are from Pakistan talk about otoman empire as our lands?

    • @moekazi9338
      @moekazi9338 9 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      "Our lands" meaning muslim lands, genius. The Ottoman Caliphate was a muslim empire. Muslims generally have a sense of brotherhood amongst them. Although they might identify themselves as "Turk" or "Arab" or "Pakistani" or "Nigerian" etc.. and be proud of that identification, they still see other muslims as their brothers, because they pray the same prayer, eat the same meat, perform the same pilgrimage, fast in the same month, abstain from the same vices etc etc...
      There are many reasons for this brotherhood - among them are the traditions of Islam which are designed to facilitate this. So If a practicing Arab muslim saw a practicing Turkish/Pakistani/Nigerian muslim praying in public, and this Arab also needs to pray, he would join him in the prayer... "All muslims are one nation, irrespective of race or culture..." as the Prophet Muhammed (S) said. This idea of nationalism is a western phenomenon born and bred out of Europe. An absolutely sick phenomenon which has given the world nothing but hatred, bloodshed and killing! Just read european history and you'll understand. Why is Europe divided into soo many countries..? More than any continent per capita, considering it's size!

    • @tinovaz
      @tinovaz 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Moe Kazi ok, but here he talk as if the otoman empire was the only muslim lands, no mntion to Iran, Indonesia, north Africa( who was in french hands), Pakistan or it is only th Caliphate tha matters?
      Also i don't get him whem he says that the westerns powers put the arabs against their caliph as if it was peace and love betwen them or if the turks didn't conquer the muslims lands by force. It seems to that he would like to have the caliphate back even knowing that their countries was never part of any.
      And the way he talks about Kemal Ataturk . . .come one the man was greate.

    • @moekazi9338
      @moekazi9338 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Amandio Vaz He doesn't talk of the Ottoman empire as if it was the only muslim land. He only talks of them because they're the only ones relevant to his topic. All of those countries that you've mentioned are irrelevant to what happens to the "Shaping of the muslim world at 1914" Pakistan at this point had not been formed. It was only formed in 1947, this is 1914. Indonesia was still being run by the British, Iran is irrelevant to this topic and North Africa is all colonized.
      Also he didn't say that "western powers put the arabs against their ruler", he said that "Great Britain had paid T E Lawrence to convince the Arabs to break away from their ruler, so that this would it make it easier for the British to now attack the Ottomans"... well this is 100%. It's documented, historical fact.
      And you say that there wasn't peace and love between Arabs and the Ottomans... well, there was! Read history. There wasn't a revolt against the Ottomans from the Arabs. Arabs weren't treated badly, or any different for that matter, so there was no need for them to revolt.
      You go on to say that he would like "to have the caliphate back even knowing that their countries was never part of any". I don't understand this point. If countries weren't part of the of the Ottoman Caliphate, it could've been apart of a different Caliphate. Like for e.g - What is present day Algeria, wasn't under the Ottoman Caliphate, but it was under the some of the first Caliphates set up in early Islam. So was Morrocco, Libya, Sudan, Nigeria, Senegal, Iran, Pakistan etc etc.. You've also mentioned that "turks conquered muslims lands by force". No offense, but I don't think you understand how empires were ruled, governed and formed in those days.
      You say Attaturk was great. He was a cunt! He oppressed his people massively! He was an absolute dictator! He forced people to do things that they hated! He subjugated the rights of many people and did things like ban women from wearing the Hijab in public, ban the call to prayer in Turkey, ban the teaching of Arabic in schools etc etc.. He was a cunt! He's only known to be only great because it so happened that he was the General of the war that was won by the Ottomans... Not even won by him, he was just the General
