This video inspired me to go on a 3000 mile road trip with my best friend through the northern rocky mountains. It was pretty cheap and an awesome adventure. that experience completely changed my trajectory and inspired a passion in me for nature and the outdoors. For anyone thinking about doing something like this, just do it.
Completely awe struck at your dedication to detail in your videography work, both of you are very talented. What an awesome adventure, thanks for sharing this with everyone.
I have a brother in North Attleboro, where you started. It's a lovely, HUGE house and I designed his landscape. PART of the many, many things I've done in my life. My brother is only semi retired, in his 70's. That's how he has maintained his life and vigor and longevity, doing work and play, taking his sailboat out, shooting his guns, and writing for his newspaper.
How do you not have at least a million subscribers. This is such a great channel! You made me take a look at how out of control my life has become. You inspired me to start fly fishing again after 20 years...I'm heading to the sierras July 5...thank you!
In 2016, I took my 3 kids out of school and we lived in an RV and traveled the US for one year. In the RV we saw the lower 48 (all of them), made it to Alaska on a cruise ship, and hit Hawaii on our way back to Australia (our home). This brought back so many powerful memories that I had to keep stoping the video just to deal with the emotions it brought out. We traveled so many of the same roads, and I times, I think we may have even been in the same campsites. I'm so glad I found this, and look forward to your future videos.
Wow. You're an amazing parent. Makes us emotional just to think about how special that must have been for your kids. Thanks for taking the time to share your story and support our work. No doubt we've stepped in the very same places and gazed out on the very same vistas. Its a beautiful world out there
4K Subs? How can people watch their brains melt into soup watching some dumb shit prank his friends with 20 million subscribers but let something as beautiful as this go unseen? Something with true American spirit and such personality and heart. I don't understand. Thank you for this. Inspiring and couldn't have been done any more beautifully
This is by far one of the most beautiful fishing videos I've ever seen. The camera work, the editing, the sound effects and the good overall vibes... I'm a fan ! It's so inspirational 🙌 Congratulations on your engagement and cheers from Belgium !
Fantastic!! I also watched Big Land and again Fantastic!! It brought back a lot of memories, its been 41 years since a good friend and I traveled. On motorcycles, a backpack, some road map and few dollars and to make sure we where safe, a collect call to my parents once a week. A film camera and a few shots to remember by. Photography now being a big part of my life documenting the family, mostly the grand kids. Enjoy your journey and keep the videos coming. Stay safe!!!
Very uplifting guys. I've been a bit down of late. My lovely girlfriend finished our relationship before Christmas and my dad was diagnosed with untreatable cancer just this week. A beautifully shot , philosophical fly fishing film was just what I needed for a bit of perspective. Thanks . Callum
Sure is beautiful country, I have lived here since I was born.. As a native Montana resident I thank the tourism industry for helping fund our states struggling economy I.e. this film here. On the other hand when I hear things like "we left for the north to avoid the crowds", I cant help but hear some sort of elitist attitude and cant help but think, you two are the "crowds". From the perspective of an angler that lives here anyway, Rock creek is barely fishable anymore, flooded with out of state license plates and people who run through the woods to cut me off at the best holes, I call the leap froggers. I hope you guys were respectful and enjoyed yourselves. Thanks for the support and you make a nice video, but every year our state is flooded with people, some humble and some that seem to exude a sense of superiority and entitlement to our water. Stay humble. Peace
Thanks Caylin! Glad you liked the film. Just to be fair, my entire family is form Montana, and I've been fishing these waters since I was a boy as well. That stretch I was referring to is the Madison between Hebgen and Quake lakes and even when I first fished it 20 years ago it's been outrageously crowded on weekends. Hell, even most weekdays. It's certainly true that rivers are getting more and more crowded, and even the great state of Montana is not exempt from the growing pressures of increased angler counts. Everybody hates "leap froggers" so you're not alone, but to blame that mentality on people from out of state is a little silly. There's plenty of Montanans who'd be just as happy to leap frog you as the tourists are. And in the interest of staying humble, we should all remember that our waters don't belong to "us" any more than they do to anyone else. That's the wonderful thing about this countries public land; it's there for everyone to enjoy. It's also important to remember that none of us are really "natives" here. (I'm assuming form your name that you're not Native American) When we fished Rock Creek in 2015 we didn't have the same impression. Has it gotten worse? It's a shame if so, I don't imagine it can sustain too much pressure for too long. Hope you find some empty stretches this summer ;) Tight lines.
Thanks for this. You took me back to the early to mid-70s when a group of high school friends and I would hitch west to The Beartooths, meet in Cooke City, and then head up into the BT Primitive area with precious little food or what would pass for proper gear today. We caught grayling, cutthroat and rainbow. Those were heady days...
I really hope you all are able to make a living filming and living life as wonderfully as you do. No doubt most of us will be living vicariously through your travels. : )Thank you so much for creating this masterpiece, no illusions, life as you discovered it!
Hard to say we "make a living", but we're making enough to stay alive and thats what counts for now. Thanks for the support, it's a big help in keeping us free to be creative
I grew up in Manhattan, Montana and watching this with the rivers i grew up fishing as a little kid with my grandparents really hits the right feels. I mainly fished the Gallatin in the Big Sky canyon and we went to Yellowstone every summer. I live up in Missoula now and boy can I not wait for summer. Great film dude your guys' photography is top notch.
I don’t know if you guys ever read the book “Trout Bum” but I’ve always wanted to take a year and do just that. I’ve been a Fly fisherman for 35 yrs and remember in the 70s it just seemed easier to “get away”. Sadly, you still very much need money to “rough it” these days- even campsites become expensive. Today my health has robbed me of such adventures. But I pray that I’m able to at least do a trip this Summer with my two adult Sons so we will have something like this to look back on. It may be the last time I have a chance to do this before their lives are “too busy” as well. So awesome that you guys took the time to connect w Montana. My feeling is that Montana is a Fly Fishing experience not to be missed. Some of the best trips I’ve ever had.
Fear not! I'm sure you're life is still ripe for many adventures! And coming from one adult son who loves his dad, i doubt your kids will ever be too busy for you ;) Hows the trip planning coming?
That is Very kind of you to say. Waiting for a check to arrive so we can plan. Still hopefull while I have my two boys at home for the Summer (well they’re not boys...men now;) keeping fingers crossed it all works out. Thank you again for the kind words!!
Amazing videos you both put out. Capturing the slow speed, the clarity, the colors, the music, the narrating. Nothing like it on You Tube Well done and thanks for your professional work for us You Tube viewers Fish On...
Long before you were born I used to quit my job and drive my 1968 VW Campmobile out to Montana. I arrived around June 01 and based in Livingston and fished Armstrong and Nelsons virtually everyday. Armstrong was free and Nelson's was $10 a session ; dawn to 1:00 and 1:00 to dark. If I got bored catching 16" - 19" wild browns, rainbows, and the occasional cutthroat I would drive down to YNP for a week or up to Glacier. I'd leave for home around Labor Day. I did that for five summers. I was just 26 my first trip. Great fishing and awesome memories.
Started watching this last night and just finished now sitting in my car before work. My heart feels heavy with wanting an adventure like this. Excellent movie. Stunning scenery. And beautiful trout.
Thank you so much for making this film. It really captures the essence of fly fishing and the beauty of the moment. The panning nature shots, the narration, the music, all on point. I need to quit my job and go fly fishing again.
Makes me miss home so much!! I grew up in Butte and learned to fly fish on those exact waters. Rock Creek is what I refer to as my home water. Many many saturdays and Sundays throwing the royal wulff into that crystal clear stream watching the west slope cutties just ravage it like nowhere else I've ever fished. Casted my last fly with my dad on his favorite place on earth Rock Creek. God Bless you both for making a spectacular film!!! THANK YOU!!
No kidding! My family is from Butte! Spent my childhood summers there, its where I learned to fish as well. My grandparents are Jane (now passed) and Art Pascoe, and they lived on W Quartz st. Do you know them?
Jane Pascoe.....the Purple B's director and music/drama teacher at Butte High School?? Yes, I knew her. She was at Butte High when I went there. My mom still lives in Butte out by Hillcrest grade school. Are you on Instagram? WOW....this is crazy. Y'all are in Mass. ?
Isn't life strange? Yep, we are in MA now, and that is the very same Jane. My mom is her daughter, Julie Pascoe. In fact this film is dedicated to her at the end. The summer we made this film she passed away while we were visiting. Aimee got to meet her briefly before her passing. We are totally on Instagram @tightloopsfly. My parents are actually moving back to Butte in about a year, to live in Jane's old house on W Quartz, and help take care of her husband Art (my moms dad). I think once my folks are in Butte Aimee and I will have plenty of reason to visit more often!
Life is crazy!! I donated to your next film, that looks amazing!!! I am currently in Indiana, so I havent been back in over a year. I want to get back this fall. It would be really cool if there was a chance we could connect and fish together. I'd love to get out and fish some of the streams in New England. They look really fun. I will definately follow you on the gram!
This was shot and edited beautifully, amazing storytelling. perfect mixture of dialogue and music. No shot was too long yet no shot too short, perfect balance.
I am never not blown the fuck away by every single second of content this channel uploads. You guys are so talented and can capture so perfectly the Beauty, challenges, hardship, zen, and spirituality of fly fishing. you have made me really begin to question what I can do to get out more often and have as many memorable experiences as possible. I know that time is short for these types of experiences unless these types of inspiring motivational masterpieces can be shared. Anyone who has picked up a fly rod should see this. Thank you, for this. Keep it up.☀️🌷🎣🌄
So happy to come across your story, in 96 I moved out here to do just what you did in a summer, it's 22 years later and i still find new to me river ways to walk, work just enough to be happy to. There are so many nice people out here and ways to feed your wills
Looks awsome! I dont fish. I ski, trailrun and mtb. Our love for the outdoors is the same. Our passion for old VW is the same. Get after it and live life. Truly great video! in 2917, you guys where a head of the game. Love it! Quality!
Congratulations on such a beautiful and inspiring film. Simply brilliant work. Love the van, the landscapes, the wildlife and the fact Amy still uses a old school 35mm! Oh SO jealous of the amazing fishing.
Truly an thing of beauty. Awesome takes on the fish rising to your flies!! I was smiling from ear to ear during this entire film, thank you. I did three summers in a row driving to Alaska and staying all summer but did not film. I really wish I would have. Excellent uplifting vibe from you two.
Thanks so much Andrew. I wouldn't be too bummed about not filming. Sometimes we wish we weren't filming either. Its great to have these films to look back on, but sometimes it feel like living through the eyes of the camera isn't really living at all :/ That being said. we really love sharing these experiences with folks like you. For better or worse, its an itch I think we'll always have to scratch!
Brilliantly done! Narration was good and a totally satisfying film to watch! Retired now and planning our trip! Congrats on your wedding plans! You are a very lucky couple! Rave on and Tight Lines!
Awesome video. My girlfriend and I were in Montana 2 years ago, and to this day, not all of me returned home. I just got into fly fishing and this was such an inspirational video.
Haha! we appreciate the sentiment, but we like Stephen King too! Anyway, help us out, share this with your friends and maybe we can start raising those numbers ;)
Thank you guys for inviting us along on your Journey! I understand how hard it is to try to enjoy an epic trip like this AND ensure the videography/photography is still exceptional enough to make the grade. Looks like you nailed both!!
I came for the flyfishing, but stayed for the storytelling! AMAZING work guys, enjoying my way thru all the great stuff you have posted here on youtube! I would easily pay to visit a cinema for this! Keep up the good work, and bring the Toyota to Europe and Norway one day :D
I've watched this video 3-4 times now and just can't get sick of it... Editing job was amazing! Appreciate all the time and effort that went into this... Definitely worth it!!!
Thanks so much Nathan! It's certainly a lot of work. If you want to see more stuff like it head on over to our kickstarter and chip in a couple bucks towards our next feature film! www.kickstarter.com/projects/tightloops/tight-loops-presents-big-land
Thanks, Jimmy! This film is ancient and makes me cringe, but it's always nice to hear that audiences are still getting something out of it. As an artist its always tough to watch earlier work, but I guess thats just a sign that you're growing!
100%! I can relate as a writer and podcast host! haha We are probably our harshest critics. I meant every word about your film. Aesthetically beautiful and inspiring. @@TightLoops
Outstanding film! My brothers and I are looking forward to our trip next month into the Yellowstone area. This will be our first journey there. This film you've made is a perfect inspiration to us three guys... and taught us a bit about how to forget about our usual lifestyle for a while. Thank you for the awesome sharing of your experiences.
So. I just got back to New Zealand after working in Australia for two weeks. I brought some whiskey with me (cos duh) and got home to a couple of friends who were watching shitty trout fishing vids on TH-cam. I shared my whiskey and they both passed out. Now it’s 3am and I’m watching your video. I’m not a fisherman, and it’s apparent that is irrelevant. Your adventures are so cool and your cinematography so epic, it’s a real inspiration. I’ve traveled a bit but you’re reigniting the fire. You did good. Thank fuck for TH-cam just picking random videos for me
Great video! Brought great memories of fish caught and places traveled to cast a line. You catch the feel of life and the love of nature as most important the love of fishing. Now that I am older can’t get out as often as I would like but with people like you I can again. A big THANK YOU. Also If you can share a love of fishing together, life with each other will be like it was supposed to be. Life is fishing! Fishing is life!
Couldn't agree more William! I don't think it matters how often you get out, as long as you make sure to be grateful for the time you get. Cheers my friend, and tight lines!
This my favorite TH-cam trout/travel documentary. It definitely helped me realized what my real life goals are. I can't wait for the next long trip you guys do.
I was mesmerized by your film. I loved your use of slow motion. I really really want to venture to Montana now and fly fish off the beaten path! Thank you.
I have gone trout fishing in many parts of Montana and Idaho, Oregon and California in the 2,000's. It was a great experience. I ate some of my catches. I hiked a portion of the Appalachian Trail in the mid 1990's and then hiked the southern half of it the next year. Looking forward to doing the whole thing as an old man. Seeing videos like this really point great promise and "go get it, boy" at the thrill of doing it again. And, I will. Married, now I rarely do anything. I don't play my guitar anymore. I don't go camping, fishing, hunting, exploring, nothing. I rarely even go outside to enjoy the beautiful weather and nicely landscaped house I worked my ass off for. Whoever said marriage was supposed to be happy needs their ass kicked. I guess it can be, but I don't see it. Marriage is grand, they say, but divorce is 500 grand. I also have a Tahoe in storage, back in the USA, that in years past I used for camping and fishing trips. I'm going back to the USA to get it going and do some camping and fishing around the nation, and I'm not bringing "wifey" with me. It's going to be a prep toward getting my mindset to hike the AT again in the upcoming years, probably while in my 60's. If I wait any longer than that, there will be the greater chance of failure in my endeavor. Once I reach Maine, it is my intention, after I finish the Trail to the top of Katahdin, to go trout fishing for a month. It will be my next adventure until snows force me back south. I have started a channel peripheral to this friend and family only channel going now, specifically for revamping and riding my Kawasaki Ninja in the heart of Mexico. I'll post the link to that channel on this channel of mine, at the right time, though that Ninja channel is live already NOW. I also have an outdoor fishing and camping channel that, as well, will be linked in this channel of mine. That will be the channel where I put videos of purchases and preparing for my Appalachian Trail hike, and the actual hike itself. It will probably be in 3 to 5 years. The link will start showing up in 2023. LOOKING FORWARD to seeing the beauty of my olden golden years start playing out, cuz this ain't cutting it.
Never felt compelled to comment on you tube before, but I am truly overcome by the beauty of this video. Everything about it so exquisitely done. thank you so much and keep up the good work. I'll be sharing this with all my outdoors loving friends. All the best Zz
Thanks so much Zach. We're honored to be your first ;) We appreciate you taking the time to keep us inspired with your kind words. Thanks for sharing it with your friends! Spread it far!
Thanks Michael! We're just doing our best to figure out, just like everyone else. We are constantly being inspired by others, so we hope to be able to do the same!
Hey! Thanks so much for taking the time to reach out. We always see this stuff, it sometimes just takes a while to reply. I usually let the comments build up for a month or so then take them all out with one fell swoop. Not the best method, but we're often not in a position to reply immediately, and I hate having to do it on my phone. So, for this film I recorded VO with the kit mic on our camera (Sony Fs700). Its actually a really nice shotgun mic, which a Sennheiser-esque sound to it. I had bought a cheap all-inclusive kit from Senal (I think it had a mic, shock mount, stand, slr cable and a USB interface, as well as a free copy of Audacity. I couldn't figure out how to get this awful noise floor out of the USB interface when using the Senal mic, so I used the rest of the gear and replaced it with the Sony shotgun mic. I was pretty new to VO at the time, but made sure to wall off a closet and deaden the hell out of it with foam and blankets etc. Looking back now I would have done more in post to sweeten the audio a little more, but it came out ok. Since then I've started using that Senal cardioid mic again, and just ditching the shitty usb interface. All in all I think that whole Senal VO kit cost like 70 bucks or something. Worth it for sure but you'll need to do a little work to get it sounding great. I've had the privilege of recording VO on higher end mics, and it's a goal to invest in one, for sure, but they are in the $700-$1000 range and I just haven't bit the bullet yet. Good luck, and let me know if you have any other questions!
Tight Loops wow thank you so much for the detailed response! I loved this style of video. The voice over was spot on and very professional. Most of my audio comes from my LAV mic mounted to my GoPro which I sync to my Gh5 set up on a tripod when I go to edit the footage, but after watching your videos I would really like to utilize VO as well. I really appreciate the response and I look forward to your future films!
@@618Fishing No worries dude, appreciate the kind words. We've got some LAV mics which are great in interviews, but to get that great proximity effect in VO you really gotta use a condenser microphone
Best fly fishing video with the best soundtrack I have ever seen. Always thinking to plan a trip to Montana and today I discovered your beautiful movie. High class! Music underlines your great taste. Un saludo from Lanzarote Island (Canary Islands)
Thank you so much Paulo! That is very high praise. We hope you make it to Montana someday soon, its a wonderful place. We hope we make to the Canary Islands someday soon!
your documentary is truly inspiring. Ive loved fly fishing and the great outdoors since the moment i was introduced to them. But this, this made me love them even more. You two are truly living my dream, traveling in a camper and flyfishing any bit of fish producing waters. Your cinematography skills are breathtaking, your video truly brought out the beauty of natures bounty on top of the natural beauty that it already has.
Thanks so much Brenden. You're incredibly kind, and we're glad we could help inspire you! We are all so incredibly lucky to live on this earth and enjoy its beauty.
Wow you two, this was fintastic! I'm happy I stumbled upon your productions. The honesty of your story and how you portrayed the intimacy of these beautiful places is extremely inspiring. Thank you for reminding me why we do this! Tight lines from Idaho.
Thanks for coming along for the ride Liam! We are all truly lucky to live in the US and have access to such an incredible network of public lands. You yourself live in an incredibly beautiful state! Cheers!
just....WOW! I love fly fishing and I love to film and being an aspiring outdoor filmer you two hit the nail on the head with this one! Beautiful shots, great audio and such a powerful message to everyone who views. Anyone who watches this film will take something away from it along with the GOOD VIBES! Congratulations on a great piece of artwork and your engagement! Cheers from a high mountain fly fisherman, playing filmer/editor! You have made me want to push myself so much more!
well guys what to say. it was by far the best fishing video I have ever seen. so nicely done calming simply amazing. BTW congrats on your engagement ;)
Thanks Harry! Yeah, Aimee and I are just old enough that we still learned everything on analogue (both photo and motion picture film) so old habits die hard!
Greatings from Denmark. I spent half of my life wondering, now I have bourht an camper and stop wondering....I am alive. Thank for a great trip with you. My great dream was Montana, but my helts not alove my to fly anymore..You have made a fantastic video, its almost like being there. Thank you
Thank you, Line. So sorry yo hear you are in poor health, but happy to hear your soul is free! Montana is a wonderful place, but Scandinavia is just as beautiful. You're lucky to live where you do. Have fun exploring!
Sept of 1977 I moved to Missoula, Pounded nails a couple months then took over the Kitchen/ Bar at Lolo Hot Springs Resort up Lewis & Clark Hwy 12, From Lolo to the Resort the Creek ran along the road then drive by Lolo peak at 9075`? been a while. loved the area but you were always 40 miles from some where kids were young, with about a dozens stops its takes from 7AM to 7 Pm the drive around Flathead lake
Thanks, Doug! We are definitely images makers first, and I think it shows. Basically all our films are figuring out a way to tell a story that fits into the beautiful images we wan't to capture. A little backwards, but sometimes it works.
I took a week off backpacking and fly fishing Colorado a few weeks ago. I wish I could have done it all summer. At least I get to go back most weekends. Loved this video!
We spent a week in Colorado this summer as well. Hell of a place the chase trout! you can read about some of those Journeys on our blog tightloopsfly.com/notesfromtheroad
Thanks, Curt! We get it, it's hard not to feel that way sometimes. Theres still a lot to be excited about in the world though. We hope to spread a little bit of it.
Great work, guys. Reminds me of the days that I lived and fished in MT almost 20years ago. This movie has helped me make a decision to take a trip to MT next year. Thanks!!!
Keep the great adventures coming! I can fish vicariously watching, listening and immersing myself in your great film work, brilliant editing and love of fly fishing!
Tight Loops it was good. I was there again last week. The water is really warm right now between Hebgen and Quake lake. Fishing is really good below quake lake. The water temp is much lower.
Nice video work. My buddy and I get the luxury of living in Montana and fishing all over tarnation... all year, every year, year after year. Nice work.
@@TightLoops That's awesome! I also live in Butte. Small world. Maybe we could meet up sometime and grab a cup of Jo or a beer? Do ya'll have a FB page I could message you on?
The shot you got of that cutthroat taking that elk hair dry is absolutely sensational..I am going to step out and just say it!!! This is the best fishing episode I have ever seen. Incredible imagery, excellent sound track, fabulous narration . I love to fish and so does my wife. When I die I want to go to Montana.
Thanks Erwin! We were pretty excited when we captured that one. Appreciated the kind words. Wouldn't mind resting there myself. Maybe we'll see each other down the road ;)
This was a beautiful film! Truly inspirational for those of us who long for the chance to take off and get back into nature. The videography and editing captured the essence of the great outdoors wonderfully. Thank you so much for sharing your adventure! I hope there will be more to come!
Wow just stumbled onto this and it truly was a great watch.. spent most of my life in mass and summers in NM fly fishing all over the state.. thanks for inspiring video and hope to see more in the future
incredible! my wife and I just moved to montana and we are actually living on the big hole river in divide. If yall ever make another trip out here we would love to have you guys over and do some fishing
Thanks guys. Y'all are some real lucky duckys. Aimee found the big hole was a little weedy for her taste, but I think its my absolute favorite river in MT. And where you guys live is absolutely prime water.
Oh man! thats the best comment we've gotten in a long time. Makes everything worth it, thanks so much for sharing your story

Sure is beautiful country, I have lived here since I was born.. As a native Montana resident I thank the tourism industry for helping fund our states struggling economy I.e. this film here.
(I'm assuming form your name that you're not Native American)
When we fished Rock Creek in 2015 we didn't have the same impression. Has it gotten worse? It's a shame if so, I don't imagine it can sustain too much pressure for too long. Hope you find some empty stretches this summer ;) Tight lines.
Wow. Great job folks. Thoroughly enjoyed this trip; thank you for allowing us to tag along.
Thanks a lot Dan!
Made that trip 40 years ago, heaven it was. Thanks for taking us with you.
Thank you. Sounds like its about time you made it again ;)
Wow! I love this. Absolutely beautiful. And not to mention a Vanagon... and fly fishing?!! I’m in heaven.
Our two favorite things! Thanks for the kind words
Tight Loops mine as well.
Again, Thank you for being such an incredible videographer. Thank you for taking me along on your adventures 😊
Sounds like you've made all the right choices in life ;)
@@TightLoops Absolutely and am still traveling to MT when it is safe to fly.
Started watching this last night and just finished now sitting in my car before work. My heart feels heavy with wanting an adventure like this. Excellent movie. Stunning scenery. And beautiful trout.
Thanks Michael! Summer is only a few months away. Better get planning ;)
The Endless Summer of fishing movies.Loved it all, thanks for sharing it with us .
You're welcome! Thank you
Thank you so much for making this film. It really captures the essence of fly fishing and the beauty of the moment. The panning nature shots, the narration, the music, all on point. I need to quit my job and go fly fishing again.
Do it!
What a wonderful way to spend 50 minutes thank you so much. x
Thanks Brian!
Balance is the key word.👍
I am never not blown the fuck away by every single second of content this channel uploads. You guys are so talented and can capture so perfectly the Beauty, challenges, hardship, zen, and spirituality of fly fishing. you have made me really begin to question what I can do to get out more often and have as many memorable experiences as possible. I know that time is short for these types of experiences unless these types of inspiring motivational masterpieces can be shared. Anyone who has picked up a fly rod should see this. Thank you, for this. Keep it up.☀️🌷🎣🌄
Thanks Asher! That means a lot. So glad we've been able to motivate you to accumulate more experiences out there. Pass it on!
By far one of my favorite videos on TH-cam.
I discovered your channel a few days ago and wow!! Camera work, editing and content are epic. Keep up the great work!
So happy to come across your story, in 96 I moved out here to do just what you did in a summer, it's 22 years later and i still find new to me river ways to walk, work just enough to be happy to. There are so many nice people out here and ways to feed your wills
Hell yeah! Good for you, Edward. We are making a permanent move west next spring. Couldn't be happier about it!
Im only 3 years late, but this is far and away, one of the best produced videos I have ever seen on TH-cam.
Amazing !!!!!
Looks awsome! I dont fish. I ski, trailrun and mtb. Our love for the outdoors is the same. Our passion for old VW is the same. Get after it and live life. Truly great video! in 2917, you guys where a head of the game. Love it! Quality!
Best video I've ever seen on youtube? This may be it. Holy Absaroka Guacamole......such a beautiful film. Thank you.
Congratulations on such a beautiful and inspiring film. Simply brilliant work. Love the van, the landscapes, the wildlife and the fact Amy still uses a old school 35mm! Oh SO jealous of the amazing fishing.
Thanks so much, Robert
Thanks, Laura! How exciting for you guys! Good luck out there and happy trails!
Awesome video. My girlfriend and I were in Montana 2 years ago, and to this day, not all of me returned home. I just got into fly fishing and this was such an inspirational video.
Thanks, Jason! Montana is a special place. It'll be waiting for you when you return!
Less than 32,000 views for this wonderful little film yet 'It' has probably been seen by millions. Oh boy.
Haha! we appreciate the sentiment, but we like Stephen King too! Anyway, help us out, share this with your friends and maybe we can start raising those numbers ;)
Life is short.....fish hard
Your wife is awesome!!!!! That is a rare catch. 🤠
I’m the luckiest guy on earth ;) though she does outfish me most of the time. Maybe she’s the luckiest?
Thank you for an hour of peace and tranquility.🌲🌲🌲
Thank you guys for inviting us along on your Journey! I understand how hard it is to try to enjoy an epic trip like this AND ensure the videography/photography is still exceptional enough to make the grade. Looks like you nailed both!!
Thanks! It's always a challenge, but it brings us a lot of joy to be able to share our experiences with others. Thanks for watching!
great video sharing a wonderful adventure. Hope to see more of your adventures
I came for the flyfishing, but stayed for the storytelling! AMAZING work guys, enjoying my way thru all the great stuff you have posted here on youtube! I would easily pay to visit a cinema for this! Keep up the good work, and bring the Toyota to Europe and Norway one day :D
I think your work is the most moving film I have ever seen professional or otherwise. What artists you are ... gifted ... over the top talented.
Wow! Thanks so much for the kind words. We're doing out best. Hope to have lots of new content soon!
I've watched this video 3-4 times now and just can't get sick of it... Editing job was amazing! Appreciate all the time and effort that went into this... Definitely worth it!!!

Great film guys! Truly made me want to leave it all behind and hit the road. Excellent job in creating the subtle nuances of true adventure.
Thanks a lot Sam! Glad you liked it! Hope your summer is full of adventures :)
Simply incredible. One of the best fishing films we've ever seen. You guys are amazing
Thank you so much!!!
Beautifully rendered and lovely storytelling. So good to see this level of film making in the fly fishing space.
All I can say is thanx for bringing us along. That was a lot of fun to watch....
Yours,
Bubba
Thanks a lot, Bubba, glad to have you with us ;)
Thank fuck for TH-cam just picking random videos for me
Haha, this is the best comment over. Thank fuck your TH-cam is right. Glad our paths crossed! Also jealous of your NZ exploits!
Thank you.
Thanks, Bob! This summer seems like an awfully good time for a vacation ;)
Omg ... can’t stop watching all your video ... thank you for this ! Peaceful for the soul..
Cheers from New Zealand !!
Awesome film; very well done. Continue to use the power, creativity, and spontaneity of your youth to maintain and grow your freedom..
Thank you for sharing your adventurous story. Exquisite photography skills!
Fantastic film, enjoyed every moment of it. Big Sky country is a home away from home. Tight lines!
Talk about living the dream! That was awesome guys. Way to show the world how to live!!!
Thanks Michael! We're just doing our best to figure out, just like everyone else. We are constantly being inspired by others, so we hope to be able to do the same!
This was on of the best videos I’ve ever seen. I don’t know if you will see this or not, but I am curious as to what you used to record your narration
So cool to see that you watch tight loops too. Love your channel your probably my most watched fishing TH-camr especially your fly videos!
Crazy now 618 has so many subscribers
I’ve owned, over the years, 4 vanagons. I still have 2 Syncros. Surprisingly I’ve never been stranded. But it’s always in the back of my mind.
You guys just brought back all motivation to get back outside and explore again awesome video
Wild fly podcast brought me here. Love it and can’t wait to watch more. Cheers from Colorado
your documentary is truly inspiring.
Thats awesome! So glad we could help inspire you. Can't wait to see what you come up with!
well guys what to say. it was by far the best fishing video I have ever seen. so nicely done calming simply amazing.
BTW congrats on your engagement ;)
Thank you, and thank you! That is truly high praise. We are proud to say that we've now been happily married for over a year!
Wonderfully shoot, beautifully told. Thanks for a peek into your adventure. All best.
Beautiful video my friends. Taking notes on your composition and camera movements. Love the subtleties and storytelling!
Thanks so much! Glad you liked it!
Words cannot describe how epic this film is! Inspiring work mate.
36seconds in and I'm hooked already. Really refreshing to see all that film stock!
Thanks Harry! Yeah, Aimee and I are just old enough that we still learned everything on analogue (both photo and motion picture film) so old habits die hard!
I packed up and hit the road 4 years ago. I love my life.
This is that youtube treasure you happen to find out of nowhere. How are you not on HBO or netflix!!? amazing work sir
This is possibly the most amazing film I have ever seen on TH-cam.... very inspiring.
Thanks, Dave, we're so glad you're digging the films. The positive feedback inspires us as well
Greatings from Denmark.
"Stray only a short way off the path and you could be swallowed whole by its vastness, find your way back and you can be stuck in traffic."
The quote of the movie.👍
Awesome film and thanks for sharing ~ May more trout come your way!
This is amazing. I haven't been fishing in years, but living in the PNW makes it feel necessary. This is an amazing video. Great soundtrack!
Thanks you! You owe it to all of us to get there! We can't wait to visit your neck of the woods soon
Amazing film and story. Thanks for sharing with the world. Was very inspirational!
Thanks, Jake. We're so glad you felt inspired, its the ultimate compliment ;)
This is a beautiful story and so well done. The camera work is spot on so many beautiful shots.
I’m a jaded old prick when it comes to Montana ,Yellowstone and fly fishing but I gotta say you two are awesome and damn good film makers
Thanks, Curt! We get it, it's hard not to feel that way sometimes. Theres still a lot to be excited about in the world though. We hope to spread a little bit of it.
Beautiful movie... a real work of art. I can't wait to pass my driving license and do the same...
Cheers from France!
Cheers Alex! Good luck!
This is really a fantastic effort. Thanks much. Watching this before heading out for work set the day off on the right foot. Thanks again.
Awesome, Jimmy, glad we could help! and thank YOU!
Great work, guys.
Reminds me of the days that I lived and fished in MT almost 20years ago.
This movie has helped me make a decision to take a trip to MT next year.
Thanks!!!
Awesome. That makes it all worth it.
What a beautiful movie.
I felt like I was watching in on the big screen.
Well made guys
Keep the great adventures coming! I can fish vicariously watching, listening and immersing myself in your great film work, brilliant editing and love of fly fishing!
Thanks, Rod! Sometimes sitting around here in the winter has us living vicariously through our past adventures as well ;)
Getting ready for a 4 days of camping and fly fishing outside West Yellowstone and this just brought the stoke!!!
Awesome! We are there now. How'd you do? water was probably high when you were there?
Tight Loops it was good. I was there again last week. The water is really warm right now between Hebgen and Quake lake. Fishing is really good below quake lake. The water temp is much lower.
This week though with the heat and hoot owl restrictions I'm gonna do some mountain lake fly fishing.
Nice video work. My buddy and I get the luxury of living in Montana and fishing all over tarnation... all year, every year, year after year. Nice work.
Hell yeah dude! We live in Butte now!

That oldschool Ilford film. Oh god how I miss those smooth silver tones.
Oh, and the Chris Zabriskie tunes are a nice touch :)
Thanks! Sounds like if you had some great angling opportunities in your life.
Beautiful scenery and camera work. You guys are fun to watch enjoying nature. Thanks. I feel like flying a kite too.
incredible! my wife and I just moved to montana and we are actually living on the big hole river in divide. If yall ever make another trip out here we would love to have you guys over and do some fishing
Thanks guys. Y'all are some real lucky duckys. Aimee found the big hole was a little weedy for her taste, but I think its my absolute favorite river in MT. And where you guys live is absolutely prime water.
The Wandering Meadows My best fishing buddy goes to the Big Hole every year for a month and I believe he stays in Divide. His name is VInce Maggio.
